I thought I saw a stain on my dress when I was trying it on in the dressing room. So when I came out and saw the stain was not there, I assumed that the lady that brought out my dress had water on her hand.. which left the stain. I had a very disappointing experience here. First of all, the service was extremely unfriendly. When I politely asked if a small discount was possible, I was met with a flat and cold "No." Later, when I pointed out that the dress was altered longer than the length I wanted, I was bluntly told that it was done "exactly as marked," with no willingness to listen or fix the mistake. Not only was the attitude unprofessional, but the alteration itself was not done the way I requested. The whole point of tailoring is to adjust clothing to the customer's preference, and that was not respected at all. Finally, the price was outrageously high. I was charged $60 just to adjust the dress length -- about double what other places charge. Even with same-day service, that price is unreasonable. Unfriendly service, the wrong alteration, and overpriced charges -- I cannot recommend this place based on my experience. I normally go to my regular tailor, but since I didn't have time I tried this place -- and it was a complete failure. read more

Very RUDE woman running this place and cannot admit their mistake, graciously. I brought in 2 pairs of pants and pinned my own hem. They were casual pants, so I didn't need an exact hemming. 1 pair was hemmed correctly, but the 2nd one was missed by 4-5 inches!! I took the 2nd pair back to have them correct it and she yelled at me "NO!! We did it right!!" She runs to the back to pull the scrap piece to show me what they did. They only cut an inch off the pants and I said, "I wanted these cropped length - so, no... needs another 4 inches off." She was SO mad at me - for THEM having to re-do the work at $0.00 cost. Frankly, I was afraid to go back and pick them up... but the friendlier lady was helping me - confused why it was $0.00, but politely handed the pants to me. I'm quite sure if that other lady was helping me, she would have thrown the pants at me. Needless to say - I will never come back to this place again. read more

Beware! My mother brought a pair of pants in to be hemmed, and it was a terrible job. -They weren't shortened to the proper length, and one leg is way shorter than the other. -The hem on both pant legs is totally uneven. -The hem puckers terribly. -There is a spot on one pant leg where there in an unbelievably messy backstitch. Possibly a case of running out of thread in the middle of the hem. It looks awful and is in a totally noticeable spot to. -The pants were returned dirty where the work was done as well. My mom made a point of explaining that these pants needed extra care when performing the alterations due to the material and cut of the garment. She paid extra, and had no problem doing so because she was assured that they would be taken care of properly. Unfortunately I don't believe this business cares if a poor review is left. At first glance this may seem like an OK deal considering hemming was $12. But looking at the poor quality, I should have just done it myself. It was hemmed much shorter than I had instructed them to which leads me to believe that they forgot to leave a hem allowance which is so irresponsible and unprofessional. If you look at the picture you can see how wrinkled it ended up being. When I asked why they didn't even bother ironing before or after hemming they said that I had only ordered a hemming service. That's ridiculous?! Hemming should always need ironing and that's why their service ended up being so poor because they're skimping on necessary steps to make quick cash. Also very poor customer service, I felt threatened when I reasonably pointed out how wrinkly the pants were when I brought them perfectly crisp. I would never come again. I love this place, never go anywhere else.Most recently, they fixed my Burberry coat I thought had no hope. However, they matched the stitching perfectly! Not easy to do on a sewing machine. At some point in my life, I was very much into designer jeans but being Asian, it's hard to get just the right length of pants without having to alter it. I don't like paying more $$ on top of my already expensive jeans at Nordstrom soooooo I used to ask my friend to drop it off at her alterations place somewhere in LA where it's obviously a lot cheaper. UNTIL I came accross this place! $13 for original hem and $5 for regular hem in Irvine?! Oh heck yeah! The lady who is the owner of this shop is really sweet and nice. She's the one who normally takes the measurements while her son works at the back for pick ups and payments. Speaking of payment, they only accept cash or check so come prepared. I never had to wait for more than 2 business days to come back and pick up my pants. Great service! It's a bit tricky finding the place because of the staircase in front of it but it is situated in the same complex as Northwood Pizza...right across from the Chase branch. I was referred to Alteration Specialist by a friend and after hearing and reading about how reputable this vendor appeared to be, I was seriously stoked to try out this reasonably priced OC based tailor. After one visit, I wasted my weekly dosage of butterflies and excitement on this darn place. Carlos is no doubt a very hospitable and helpful employee here. He probably is one of the many reasons why there are returning customers. My experience was made slightly better because of his excellent service. Ok so let me cut to the seam. I had a dress that needed to be taken in for a wedding. Came in on Friday, was measured by Carlos and told that the dress would be ready by Tuesday. I called beforehand, asking if my dress was ready. The lady who picked up the phone merely asked what color it was and I even went beyond and gave a description and my number on the little yellow slip/receipt as an extra measure of caution. I had an uneasy feeling; however, the women on the other line assured me that the dress would be ready by noon. I take ~25 minutes of my one hour lunch to pick the dress up and lo and behold, the dress was not ready. It had been confused between another, lemon colored dress. Oh how disappointed I was. "Wait for another hour and the dress will be done." Are you kidding me? If I had all of the time in the world, I would wait, but unfortunately, I have a nagging thing in the back of my head called "work" that is always calling at me. I dismissed this mishap as I understand that the business was busy and may have just had a day off. The coming Friday, my boyfriend generously took time out of his schedule to pick up the dress for me as I was working long hours at work and guess what. The dress was still not ready! And was set aside to collect dust after being promised that it would've been completed earlier that Tuesday. Pish Posh. This time, the dress was promised to be altered within 1/2 an hour. I did receive a 50% discount after having to haggle a bit from the starting discount of a mere $4. I understand that there is always an element of forgetfulness and mix ups whenever running a business; however, after making not one, but TWO trips back to pick up a dress that was promised at two separate days/times, I was utterly fed up. I went to Alteration Specialist because I was in a huge panic to get my bridesmaid dress altered for a weekend wedding. I waited until the last minute and knew my regular tailor would never be able to get my alterations done in 24 hours. I also wanted to find a place near my work so I could go on my lunch break. The location is a little hard to find and tucked away in a shopping center. It's on the left hand side of a grocery store, so do not get impatient if you cannot find it right away. When I walked in, Carlos immediately greeted me and I told him my plight of procrastination. He quickly ushered me into a dressing room and I tried on my taffeta dress. He recommended how we could quickly and cheaply alter the dress without taking the entire thing in. As many know, alterations can cost a pretty penny especially when it comes to dresses. I was able to get the strap altered for under twenty bucks. The service was prompt and I picked up in less than 24 hours. As a side note, they only take cash or check so come prepared! read more

The young girl was very short and really rude. I did what she asked and I went to pick up my claim ticket she informed me the pants would be ready Tuesday. I ripped one my favorite lulu lemon leggings and wanted to see if someone could turn it into workout biker shorts for me and this place did a perfect job! For only $5, i definitely got a bang for my buck. The place is quite small and it is hidden inside the same plaza as Zion on Irvine Blvd. I dropped off my ripped leggings on a Tuesday and it was ready to pick up by Saturday morning. I am so bummed to have to rate them so horribly. It has been a number of years since I used them and they were fabulous. I brought in 8 items. There was one in particular I really needed for an event. I brought them in with plenty of time and even gave them an extra day before I came back to pick them up. 2 of my items were dresses. When I returned at pick up they were the only two items not ready. One of the dresses was for the event. They said they tried to call me yet I had no missed calls from them nor any voicemails. Unfortunately I was unable to return by the time they could finish the dress that was needed and had to find an alternate outfit for the event. They apologize for the inconvenience but it was very flat. When I dropped off my dresses I brought in my own hanger. When I picked up the dresses they were taken off the hanger and handed to me freely. No hanger and the ability to wrinkle. I am so unhappy with their service that I will never return. read more

Carlos was very nice at the front desk when you come in for the first time. I came to get my blazer altered adjusted in time for a school interview. I did not have any trouble except for a slight communication problem with the seamstress. I asked her when was the soonest that I can come in to pick up the blazer; she said the next day. So I went in the next day and asked for my blazer but another seamstress could not find it. She told me that it was probably in the back and that it will be finished the next day. I understand that the place is busy and orders can come in unexpectedly, but for me to receive false hope from the staff is a slight no-no between that of a relationship between customer and employee. But anyways, I got my blazer and I liked the alteration. Besides that, just make sure you make it clear of when you need to pick up your clothing. read more

DO NOT waste your time money and precious clothes here! Ruined my dress. Had to come back multiple times. When they first fixed my dress. The dress was too small. The one who fixed my dress comes out and yells at me if what I want is that the alteration is undone. She went ballistic on me when I did not even make a comment but say " ooo the zipper is really tight". I asked if there is a middle solution- perhaps make it less tight-Very very politely because I do not like to argue. She was so rude and said "ummmm maybe? " They ended up ruining my dress and I cannot wear it. It is such a hassle to claim this damage through small claims court. Oh. They never said they dont take credit card.
