Nana is everything you want from a private altercation service. She is very courteous, understands the current trends in business fashion, and just a joy to work with. For those males who like to be business fashionable during work, my entire story is below. Hopefully it helps with making your decision whether to call Nana or not. I gave her a call on a Sunday and set an appointment for a pants hem and shirt altercation. I have body measurements that require very custom measurements. In order to be able to breathe during work, I need at least a 15.5 to 16 neck size shirt, but the sides, bottoms, and pretty much everything else is just a mess. The shirt in question was a brand name shirt I bought at the mall at a discount. The only thing that fit was the neck, everything else was just ugggh =( I have gone to other brick and mortar altercations before that would charge me up the woozah for all the changes needed for the shirt. With Nana, she did a quick assessment and immediately went to work. The entire process felt very friendly and one on one. My sides, sleeves, bottoms, everything pretty much needed to be done. On top of that, the style of the buttons on the sleeves made it one of the more advanced altercations needed. However, Nana's prices were fantastic given the attention to detail and service she provided. All the altercations to the shirt itself usually would have cost me over 50 by itself at other altercation locations. But Nana gave me a discount and with the hem altercations on the pants, the total still came to 40 total. She told me she needed a few days, but I told her my new work started in three days and she catered to my needs. I picked up within two days and the work was fantastic. I could not have asked for better. When I consider those 100% made to fit stores that charge at least 100 for a quality shirt, then I consider that I can just buy quality fabric shirts at my neck size and discounted and bring them to Nana.... I will def choose Nana every time. I plan on bringing a few more shirts over sometime within the next few weeks. TLDR: Nana is a joy to work with. Fantastic work. Fantastic and competitive prices considering the attention she provides you. She is very flexible on your needs. Highly reccomended!! read more

As much as I would love to leave a glowing review for this one woman shop I simply can not do that. She seems like a nice woman but the experience from start to finish was incredibly lackluster and unprofessional. To start, her shop was not at the location listed on yelp, and was much farther from where I live, but because she had such great reviews I made the drive. Her shop is messy, run down, and it was so incredibly hot you could see my sweat coming through the garments when she was fitting me, and the dressing room latch did not open or close without using considerable force. I had a blazer I wanted taken in because it was too large and she told me it would be $150 because of how much work it was. I am not new to the cost of alterations, but I still said I'd like to think about it, and she would not stop going on and on about how much she does to make her costs as low as possible and if I went anywhere else I would come running back to her for her low prices. I really do not respond well to that kind of attitude, in my mind you should let your work and your prices speak for themselves. So I ended up not getting the blazer done and agreed to have 3 items hemmed. She told me it would take 10 days for her to complete this, I think that is a ludicrous amount of time to hem 3 items, but I was going out of town and didn't need the items right away anyway so I agreed. I call her the day that is designated on my ticket for pickup to ask which location she's at, and of course, it's Newport. I drive over there to find she hasn't even finished hemming one of the items. And she finishes up the job while I'm trying on the other two items. So unprofessional. The other two items were jumpsuits, when I was first getting fitted she removed one of the shoulder pads per my request and said she'd remove the other one... she didn't. When I tried on the jumpsuit it had one shoulder pad in it. I asked her to take it out and she apologized and removed it. In addition, when I was going to pay I didn't have the $40 it was to hem 3 items in cash, so I asked about using card and she said "you told me you would bring cash" to which I would replied "no I absolutely did not", and she apologized and said it must have been someone else, and then charged my card. I walked out of there with my garments BUNDLED IN MY ARMS, because she did not provide me with hangers or a bag of any kind. I will never return here for any sort of alteration and I truly do not understand how this business has as many positive reviews as it does. read more

I decided to try Nana after reading all the reviews about her being good and sweet. That could not be further from the truth. She failed to have a simple pants hem done on time, left my pants in worse condition than when I gave them to her, and then lied to me about it multiple times. I am never bringing anything to her again and will never recommend her to anyone - in fact, I would recommend everyone avoid her. Oh, and she likes to charge more than anywhere else. She promised to have a simple pants hem done on a Monday and when I called the following Tuesday - the day AFTER they were supposed to be ready - she made up some ridiculous story pretending not to remember who I was or which pants I was talking about; I dropped the pants off at her house just three days prior and she remembered very detailed parts of our conversation... yet she couldn't remember me or my pants? Really feels like she is stalling... you can see where this is going... She then said she would need to get home to check first. I called her back later that evening, after she arrived home, and her phone would only go straight to voicemail. I knew something was up, so I go to pick up my pants and her teenage son answers the door shirtless with my pants waiting right there - so she knew exactly which pants were mine. I went to try them on in her bathroom and immediately noticed there was not a single thread of stitching in them. All she had done is remove the threads so they were now longer than before and unfinished - completely unwearable. Her son said, "Oh, it must have come undone." Really? Because there isn't a single thread in either pant leg. It is the day after they were supposed to be ready, I needed them the following morning, and I had been lied to multiple times. She called me multiple times, frantic, hours after I got my pants and made up some ridiculous story about how her phone broke - as she is calling me from her phone. She also said she would have the pants ready in five minutes if I brought them back to her. Gee, maybe you should have had them ready when you said they would be ready. To make matters worse, my pants are wrinkle free and I gave them to her as such, but got them back with massive creases all over them, indicating they had been dumped somewhere with weight on top of them (piles of clothes?) for an extended period of time: this is the level of care your garments will get. For simple alterations, you don't need to be lied to, overcharged, played for a fool, or have your clothing damaged - just go to any one of the other dozens of shops for alterations that are a five minute drive from her house where you'll get your clothes on time and in good condition for cheaper. read more

Okay, this woman is freaking PARANOID! I just called because I wanted to bring in my alterations based on all the great Yelp reviews. This Yelp page lists a street name but no address. Turns out it's her home where she takes evening appointments. First off, this woman answers the number listed but is immediately suspicious like "Why are you calling me? Why are you asking for the address?" Uh, duh, because I was on this Yelp page with great views for a tailor and I really need to have my jeans and dress altered. Then, she says that she has a business in Newport so I try to tell her that the Yelp page doesn't have this business address. After I asked for her Newport address, I started to get this weird feeling that this woman is a little nuts as good as a tailor as she might be. What business person gets annoyed with a potential customer being confused with the address of her business and asks questions? As I'm deciding that I really don't trust my three pairs of brand new $200 jeans with a wacko, she says to me, "You're not a customer...you're asking all these questions...don't call me again." I ordered a dress from Tobi.com for my boyfriend's fraternity's formals. It was beautiful and had complex straps on the front and back but the problem was that my bust was too small making the fit awkward. I came to Nana telling her I wanted to shorten the length of the straps so it would fit my bust more snuggly. She met me after hours and asked me to try the dress and made sure that the bra I was wearing was the way I would later for the formals. She also caught on to a different area that needed alterations and helped me correct that as well. She pinned it on a Tuesday night and I asked her to have it ready by Thursday night ( a bit of a rush job ). She was very friendly and very professional. She was also very intent on making sure I would get the exact fit I wanted. The quote she gave me was more than reasonable and was actually much cheaper than I was expecting! She had it ready by the time that I requested Thursday night and it was a PERFECT fit. I also closely examined the stitching on the straps and she made it exactly as the dress originally was intended. My family is in the clothing industry and her sewing was of high quality and highly professional. I definitely recommend Nana for your alterations needs. Visit: I came to her place with 2 suit jackets, 3 button ups, and 2 pairs of jeans that needed alterations. A bit skeptical at first, however, after seeing all of the customers that she was tending helped reassured that I was at the right place. She carefully measured my fit with much precision and provided her best unbiased recommendation on what needed fixing based on my preference (slim fit). In less than 30 minutes, she had me on my way, stress-free, and not regretting this decision. I was in no rush to wear any of my tops so we mutually agreed to get "original hems" completed on the 2 pairs of jeans by my next visit in 7 days. Return: On the day I was supposed to pick up my two pairs of selvedge denim, Nana gave me a courtesy call to remind me of our appointment. Like many others here, I've found that Nana is amazing. I dropped off a suit jacket at her store in preparation for a wedding. She was super accommodating, and worked with me to figure out what needed to be done to the jacket. We were in and out, and just like that she promised to have everything taken care of. Fast forward a month, and it's time to pick up the jacket. I was able to meet Nana at her home after business hours on a Monday--unheard of at other businesses! The suit was altered perfectly. It felt good as I put it on, and looked equally good in the mirror. Of course, like an idiot I showed up to her home thinking she would automatically have some credit card processing terminal. Nana reassured me that it was OK, and even let me take the suit with me as I hastily left to run to the ATM at the bank around the corner. "Don't worry! I called Nana for the first time last week to see if I could get my EMT uniform fitted and altered - the pants were way too high up on my waist, too long, and too baggy/loose. Even over the phone, she seemed so warm and genuine, and she was even more so in person. As another reviewer said, she really does seem to treat everyone like family. When I got to her house, I put the pants on for her to see, and she used safety pins/clips to let me visualize what the end result would be. I picked it up a few days later (she's very accommodating regarding when your clothes will be ready), and everything was altered just as we'd planned save for the waist, which was a bit tight. She kept it for another night free of charge and had it ready by the next day for me to pick up. Her prices are fair - my first alteration came out to be $45 ($15 for lowering the waist, $15 for the fitting/tapering of the thigh, $5 for the hem) - make sure to bring cash with you. Nana had initially suggested that I taper my pants all the way down to the foot, but I asked her to just taper it to my knee. What do you know, after a week of wearing them, I changed my mind and went back to her to get my pants tapered all the way down.
