Very disappointed with the service. I dropped off beautiful swimsuit cover up and Tina messed it all up. I asked to make it shorter about 1inch. When I picked it up today the back of it was totally off about 2inches in length and it was even cut in straight line. On to if it I noticed multiple stains on the front of the dress. Very disappointed. This is the 2nd time this place messed up my clothes. It's been few years since 1st mess up and I thought to give it another try, but clearly it happened again. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars is pricing. Tina is very nice lady. Tailoring work was also great, however they are obscenely overpriced. Not sure if this is normal for them or not, but I brought in two pants to be hemmed and one suit jacket which needed to be widened in the armpit and the sleeves slightly lengthened. Overall 3 pieces brought in and 4 alterations made and it was $175!! Cash price too. The credit card price would've been $185. I have a tailor I always go to in garden grove but wanted to try and switch to somebody closer to home for all my tailoring needs. When she told me the price I almost wanted to walk away, but I had already tried the items on she had it all pinned then put it behind the counter so I really felt obligated to go through with it. Unfortunately, this will be my first and last time with this tailor. Again, very sweet lady. Alterations met my expectations, but $175 ($185 card) for 4 alterations (2 of them pant hems) is a bit overboard. read more

Had been a customer for years. Slowly noticed the alterations I requested were not completed as requested but let it go. Then a vinatge silk garment needed a small repair at the seam and instead of a small repair the entire side of the garment was over sewn and completely damaged the piece. Instead of handling the situation with grace to satisfy their mistake I was told the side of the garment was fine and both side of the garment didn't need to match. Also paid for another garment to be altered and only half the alterations were done. Paid for the full alterations. Another service issue. If you need an alteration to a garment that has value be prepared to settle for it to be ruined without an apology or offer to repair their mistake. read more

Came in 45 minutes before closing with a tie that needed sewing/stitching in the back. The part used to keep the tie in place had come half off. After going here for the last 6 years it finally occurred to me to write a review. It's a husband and wife team and they are the best. I've had hundreds of garments tailored over the last 6 years. They've even mended sheets for me. I don't use the free alterations at the department stores because they don't do as good of a job on the fit as Master Paul's Tailoring. Been coming here for over 6 years after being referred by Macy's and won't go anywhere else. Owned by a very nice Korean couple, and their cute dog is always at the store. Had everything done from fitting suits to patching holes in my slacks. I once tore a hole (I thought unfixable) on my rear pocket from constant pressure from my wallet. They used a very thin patch, almost translucent, and sewed it on seamlessly. You can't even tell it's there and it's held up perfectly the last 3 years. I have been going to this Tailor since 2003 and don't plan to go anywhere else! Although I was at first referred to go here to hem a concert dress, I have since come to get these done too - tailor suit pants and jackets, hem jeans, alter theme party costumes, replace buttons, extend elastic waistbands, and re-design favorite clothes items to have new life in my closet (personal favorite: transforming snug dresses into work-appropriate skirts). The fitting rooms and stage are always nice and clean. The staff are friendly and recognize me when I walk in the door. I buy inexpensive clothes on purpose so that Master Paul's Tailor can make them even better for me! Went here to get my bridesmaid dress altered for my sisters wedding. I have to admit, I was a little nervous because I randomly found this place on Yelp and had waited until super last minute to get the work done. I also brought along 3 pairs of suit pants that needed shortened. I was greeted by the sweetest lady who immediately got me into the dressing room and started helping. She originally quoted me for about a 7 day turn around time. What truly impressed me was that it was not only done a day earlier than anticipated, but her customer service skills. When I returned, she looked at me and smiled then turned around and grabbed all of my things without even asking my name or to see my ticket. The tailoring at this place is horrible. I too was referred by Macy's which turned out to be a huge mistake like a couple other reviewers have noted. I needed 3 suit pants fitted and 2 jackets taken in. The first time I got them back all the hems were at least an inch short of where they had been measured, and one of the jacket vents in back was sticking out like a kite. They had to redo the hems, which are uneven but at least aren't too short now. After blaming the errant jacket vent on the jacket being too short, my butt making it stick out etc, the lady there refunded my money for that item. My girlfriend had a pair of jeans hemmed at the same time and those weren't even or straight either. This place is cheap but if you are altering nice clothes or need precision go elsewhere. I'll have to find another tailor to fix the jacket they altered. Update - the next time I was at Macy's, I mentioned my experience to the salesman who had referred me. He told me of a bad experience with her as well. Apparently Master Paul did fantastic work, but the woman doing most of the tailoring now is not him, and is not as good. The tailor in house at Macy's looked at the jacket and said she had pulled the stitches too tight making the vent flare out. read more

I usually don't buy clothes that don't fit me perfectly, so it was an adventure trying to find a place nearby that could hem my 2 pairs of slacks, re-hem my roommate's slacks, plus fix the hem on her skirt. I was pleasantly surprised by the multiple changing rooms available at the front of the store, making it easy to just put on my slacks, and have the tailor pin everything right away. I dropped off the items on a Monday, and since there wasn't really any rush, the pick-up was for Friday after 4PM. Because I was gone that day, I went on Sunday. When I arrived, the store appeared open, though the woman informed me that they were closed. Ready to leave, she said that it was okay this one time to let me pick up my items. My bad! The total came out to $40, which seemed reasonable to me, especially since the tailoring was perfect. My two pairs of slacks looked as if I had bought them that way, and although one has a lining that goes all the way through the pant leg, it was perfectly done. My roommate's skirt and pants also looked as if they were purchased that way. Mom and pop local business, close by, reasonable prices, excellent work done. My GF came here to have her trench coat altered by shortening the sleeves. Doing that would require 1) trimming (obviously) 2) matching the manufactures stitch 3) MOVING THE BUTTON AND WRIST STRAPS to match new sleeve length I'm not an expert tailor but this combination of tasks scared the bejeezus out of me since it seemed like a high difficulty level coupled with a pretty pricey item ($300 coat). If I review food establishments than why not review a tailor shop, right? Especially a tailor shop as special as this one. The nice Korean lady is the one that usually helps me. I took some jeans I had bought and didn't wear cause they were super baggy. I asked her to make them a little more fitted for me. She said no problem be done in two days. Two days later I stopped in and expected an okay job, but she went above and beyond. She actually took em apart at the seams from about the hip area, and re sewed them and cuffed the bottoms back to the original look. U can't even tell someone altered them. And all for $12. I really feel that in the three years since my last review, Master Paul's has improved considerably. Enough to the point where I am able to trust the tailor with some of my very latest and best suits (ranging from $1K to $5K each), pants ($50-$300) and dress shirts ($50-$400 each). In the last two months I've visited Master Pauls at least 4 times and have been satisfied all four times. What changed? I finally feel that the level of communication and consultation has improved enough to where I feel confident that my garment is in good hands. I still recommend that as a customer one should ask enough questions to ensure your garment is tailored the way you want it.That said, I will be back for a fifth, sixth and seventh time at this establishment because the consultations and ensuing results have been solid. "Realistic Expectations" Master Paul's is an excellent all around alterations shop and I would gather can perform most of your alterations needs well. As someone who is passionate about clothing and the craftsmanship that is involved, I'd say something more specific like jean hemming is better taken care of at place dedicated to altering high end jeans. Through no fault of Master Paul's is my case for the side recommendation. There are specialty shops that are better equipped (equipment wise) and experience wise for certain goods. Tailors have strengths in certain areas as well (hence I have several "go to" tailors myself, depending on the job required). A well deserved four stars for Master Paul's! read more

Attention brides! Stay away from this place. I just picked up my wedding dress and i couldn't help myself but cry. Okay. When i first went to pick up my dress it was unevenly hemmed. Thats okay. easy fix. on the second time i went there to pick up my dress i saw that my dress was cut off too short. Hmm okay. I guess i will not wear high heels... I came home and tried them. OMG... The service was great - Within a total of 20 minutes I got measured and had my pants hemmed while I waited. The proprietor even offered to cut the tags off of my new suit. I finally made my way to the tailor with a blazer that was missing a button on the sleeve, a pair of pants that had a tear in the seam, and another pair of pants that needed to be hemmed at the waist. I walked in and the woman working had me try on the pants right away, put a few pins in them, and said I could take them off. I was in there for less than five minutes and she said I could pickup the next day. I was quite surprised that it was going to cost $40 but I was still impressed with the efficiency of the process so far. The next day I went back to get my items and while I was there I made sure to try on the pants. Before that had somehow stretched out at the waist, and they now fit me perfectly exactly how I wanted them too. I'm not sure if what I was charged is more than other places would, since I haven't been to other tailor shops. I did feel as though it was pricey, but overall I am very happy with my experience. read more

Came here 3 times and had them tailor 10 garments for me. The first 2 times I came here I had to come in 3 times for them to take the measurements and tailor them accordingly, which I didn't really mind since they finally got the alterations right and it usually takes a new tailor 1-2 times and a few alterations to get used to how I want shirts/slacks tailored. This last time I came here, though, paid ~$200 for my alterations of 3 shirts and 1 pair of dress pants. I had to come in 5 times for the shirt alterations... not even joking, 5 times and the alterations of 1 of the shirts and the pants still don't fit quite right (which they definitely should considering the amount paid). I appreciate their persistence in trying to fix the alterations, but there is clearly a disconnect from when they do the measurements to the actual alterations they make. Also annoying: if you're a professional and charging professional prices for your services, don't ask the client how you should do your job. I gave directions on what I wanted done/how I wanted the clothes to fit, but was constantly asked how they should do the alterations... not professional. read more

Have had good experiences in here in the past. But don't come at closing - they will not give you fair pricing. I came in and asked if they could simply CUT a dress to the proper length for me. No hemming at all. After giving me a hard time that it was "closing time" she cut it for me. It took her about 4 minutes to do and she charged me $20. $20!!! My mistake for not asking the price in advance but I have had jeans hemmed there for $7 and did not expect 4 minutes of cutting to be $20. I've taken a few things here to have altered and I've not had any problems. Their prices are reasonable and turn around time is good. I don't come here as often anymore because I now get my suits and shirts custom made. I usually take shirts here to be taken in, but also have experience with a couple off the rack suits. All i can say is WOW on this place. The Korean lady there is SUPER nice!! I had a pair of my Frankie B jeans hemmed up because i'm short and petite, like 5'3" and "X" amount of pounds...hehe, and the jeans were made for super tall perfect bodied models or something! Anyhow, she did a PERFECT job and it costs a super fair $6.00! I know there are places that are a bit cheaper but they just don't do it right. I also had a pair of pants custom modified and it also turned out PERFECTLY! I have been looking for a tailor shop for awhile now. I needed to get some hems re-sewn that had fallen out, straps put on a dress, and a skirt taken in. I went in without an appointment on a Thursday at lunch and was told all 8 pieces I brought in would be done by Saturday morning. The initial drop-off took about 15 minutes (including me trying on pieces for her to measure). The prices were very fair and all 8 pieces were done very well and on time. I will definitely go back again. This is definitely a no-frills place, but the workmanship is well done, the turnaround time excellent, and the shop clean. read more

I have to say, I am definitely very happy with everything. The nice woman who helped me was quick & efficient and seemed to know exactly what she was doing. My maxi dress came back the exact perfect length I wanted it to be and I think that's difficult considering I'm tiny - 5'1" so she had to get it perfectly right to make it fit well.
