Had a really unfortunate interaction with the seamstress. I brought in a dress to see if she could remove the lining. She explained that she'd have to open up the dress to do it and expressed that it would be "very difficult". I asked if she could just cut out the lining without having to open it up and she said yes. I then went on to ask if she could clean up the fraying all over the sleeves. she said it would take too much time and I should just do it, which is a wild thing to say to a customer coming in for a service. I asked her how much it would be to remove the lining from the dress and she quoted me $100, which is also insane, and reiterated that she would have to open up the dress even though we just decided that she wasn't going do that. I was like, oh OK nevermind, and she says yeah you should just do it the way you want it to be done. WOW. OK. I had another dress that I was going to talk to her about, but i just gathered up my items and walked out. I'm so confused why you would have an alteration business and ask a customer to do their own alterations?? Clearly she didn't want me as a customer. Called this alteratons shop and inquired about taking in shorts in the waist by 2 1/2 inches. She gave a price of $45. for each. Wow, that is more than new shorts cost at J Crew! I called another shop in Irvine and the cost was $18. read more

I brought in 4 items to get altered. When I went in to pick them up, took them home, and then realized they only altered 2 out of 4 of the items?? I paid $40 each to alter a pair of trousers and a pair of jeans and they came back exactly the same as when i dropped them off. Weird and annoying!!!!!! read more

The workers are very nice and friendly. It was my first experience altering anything. This just so happened to be my bridesmaids dress for my big brothers wedding. Tiny little Asian run alterations shop in Newport in the same shopping center as Rite Aid and Pavillions. The woman who greeted me was very friendly and very knowledgable. Prices seemed a bit steep compared to what I usually pay for items. 4 tops and 1 cotton dress amounted to $150 to take each in by about an inch on the sides. However, they do good work and you can tell they have a lot of regulars because the shop was full of women who the proprietor seemed to know by name. read more

Very pricey and dont expect them to alter it the way they pin it up on you. Paid $75 to take a dress down in size and when I picked it up it didnt fit and they told me it would be an additional $30 to fix it the way I wanted it, though somehow a week prior that was included in the $75 I was paying. Dont waste your money here! I ended up taking the dress somewhere else to finish what they started for $12. read more

After buying a pair of trousers at a sample sale in NY that were a few sizes too big (sucker for the price and loved the material so much..), I brought them to Just Alterations to tailor to my size! Oh my goodness! I tried them on today and they fit incredibly now! Not only that, I had mentioned I wanted to shorten them, and they taper so incredibly well and look so great! I have been coming here for years. I cannot believe how poorly they are handling my situation. I recently brought in a very expensive dress from A'marees and told them exactly what needed to be done. (Just taken in a little and hemmed) I also told them that it was a very expensive dress and asked them politely to be very careful. They completely destroyed the dress. They clearly cut it up changed the entire form of the dress AND took it in too much and I can no longer wear it. Worse part is they will not refund the money for the 'alteration'.
