I brought in my wedding gown with an overskirt in July for alterations and a bustle for my mid-September wedding. We did our initial fitting and two additional fitting and had my dress ready by the beginning of September. She was very timely and detailed in her work. She adjusted the low back and my chest areas to lay flush, added cups for support and trimmed the front of the dress skirt and overskirt to fit my height. All turned out beautifully! The quality of work in shortening the length of my Rag & Bone Miramar jeans was amazing!! They used the same bottom hem and this is not necessarily a standard practice (although it should be across all alterations providers everywhere) ... the hem does curl up a bit but could probably smooth it out by ironing that part. It's a very reasonable price too at $20, although there was a 1-week turnaround time, the successful end-result made everything worthwhile. The owners are a married couple most likely and the husband is definitely the better one with customer service. The zipper was weak and broken, there were a couple small tears and stains in the armpit area. FILTHY. DON'T GO HERE. The backroom behind the curtain where they do the alterations is so filthy I almost gagged. The floor is so covered in piles of trash and fabric and junk that you can't see it except for a tiny trail between piles. Fans that have NEVER been cleaned gunked with an inch of gunk. Piles and piles of fabric and clothing and junk everywhere. People's special clothing entrusted to these people just piled up in a huge mess. I was shocked! If you've had your clothing here, wash it immediately. This is how I discovered the filth.... They lost my pants so I was helping them look for them in all the racks. I followed the owner to the back room as he was looking everywhere. And there were my pants...wadded up in a pile in a dirty box on the floor underneath a pile of other clothes and another junk filled box. I pulled them out and they were creased and dirty. He snatched them from my hand and tried to iron them to which I immediately said "Stop - don't iron them I'm going to wash them." He would not relent insisting on ironing them. I had to actually take them off the table because he would not give them to me. What I think he was trying to do was cover up the fact that he only took in one side of my pants because the chalk marks are still there and they are very uneven now. I think he wanted to try to wipe the chalk marks off. When I tried to pay the woman working there again grabbed the pants out of my hands to "iron" them. She was so insistent and intimidating I literally had to say "Don't touch me or my pants. Let me pay so I can leave." Really disturbing. Really really disturbing. read more

Can't thank these guys enough! True masters in their craft. I bought a few thousand worth skirt from a high end brand in South Coast Plaza. They offered me to tailor the length as a complimentary service (normal practice). I agreed. They had to tailor that skirt couple of times because it just came out hideous, different length through out. After two trials and over a month long wait, I gave up on LV store. Since the skirt was altered I could not return it either, so I brought it to Joy tailoring. They were also amazed by how badly the skirt was tailored and most importantly they fixed it for me! Joy tailoring is going to be my go to for future tailoring needs. Last spring, Joy Tailoring helped me celebrate my wedding in a phenomenal way. I was in a time crunch to have my dress altered and she completed it within 6 weeks of the initial consultation including two follow up fittings. She redid the standard back zip into a beautiful corset style using the scrap fabric from the bottom hemming. It was seamless and intentional. It gave me piece of mind that the dress would fit my second trimester body and it performed admirably on the big day. Unfortunately we didn't get any dedicated pictures of the back. The hem was perfect and she accounted for the extra length needed in front for my stomach. She also put in an American style bustle and sewed the belt onto the body. She is professional with a warm grandmotherly demeanor that I appreciate. I thought her pricing was very reasonable, which was surprising given the Newport Beach neighborhood. She prefers cash or check. They are open Monday through Saturday 10-6 pm. They encourage walk ins but I'd recommend getting an appointment for a wedding dress fitting. There's a free parking structure on Finley and Newport Blvd which she says is usually available 2pm and on, but I haven't tried it yet. read more
