Gabriel is amazing! He was able to alter my wedding dress and 2 reception dresses and I loved them all! Some places after you try on the clothing, they sometimes have to retailor, but I have never had any issues here afterwords! He always asks when the date you need the clothes by and makes sure to have it ready way before the date needed. I appreciate the fact that if you forget to bring your heels, he does have extra heels for you to use in order to tailor your pants or dresses correctly. Other places always forget what you bring in, but Gabriel always remembers what was tailored without the receipt. He makes the process very convenient and easy. On Mondays, they do close at 6 pm. Even though I came in at 6:20 pm he was still able to help me even though he was running late for another appointment. Gabriel is the fantastic tailor who altered my wedding dress so that it fit me perfectly! I purchased my wedding dress at The White Dress in Corona del Mar, and was delighted to hear that their #1 recommended tailor was Gabriel. Serendipitous, I had gone to Gabriel in the past, when I lived in CDM one summer, to alter a dress, pants, and a wool coat (all done perfectly to my requests). It was such a lovely surprise that a tailor I had previously used came so highly recommended. While I purchased the dress in August, I had to wait until February for it to finally be ready (quite a grueling wait). I called Gabriel immediately and he recommended that I wait until about 2 months out before we have our first fitting. This seemed a little too close to the "big day", but I went with his expert opinion. Plus I had another half marathon to prepare for, and figured it may be a good idea to hold off until I finished that race. Ultimately the adjustments that needed to be made included: adjusting lace straps, sewing in cups, adjusting the length, adding the bustle, and taking in the back a bit so the dress was more form-fitting. My dress was silk, with a lace overly on the top half of the dress, with buttons down the back and lace on the underside around the hem. Gabriel retained integrity and beauty of the lace perfectly. All in all the fittings went perfectly as I had expected and in the end the wedding dress fit like it had been sewn onto my body. It was comfortable and, incredibly flattering - everything you hope a wedding dress to be. I would highly recommend taking any garments to Gabriel, he has so much experience with wedding gowns, you know you are in good hands. Side note on experience, on one of the last days I went in for a fitting, he mentioned in conversation that he had seen 5 brides already that day, it was only noon. But don't let his work load worry you, the man delivers on time as promised and my dress was ready in time for our wedding. I picked up my dress today and I could not be happier. I know my dress was a big project but he made it perfect- it fits like it was made for me and still I have a month before my wedding so now I feel totally at ease. I've am extremely happy with the work Gabriel did on my dress. I purchased my dress as a sample "off the rack" dress. First took it to a cleaners to be cleaned and had the zipper fixed and also had the cleaners take it in and hem it. The cleaners did a terrible job and they told me they could not fix the dress completely. They were afraid to ruin my dress by hemming it. Obviously, I was terrified it couldn't be fixed. I called The White Dress in Corona Del Mar where I bought my dress and they recommended Gabriel. They said he had worked on this dress many times. When I brought it to him it the lace had 20 small tears and rips all over the dress. He fixed each hole, you can't tell there were any holes in the lace! It's amazing! It's hemmed perfectly- despite the complicated hem it's fixed. He took in waist and cleaned up the detail around the bust line. He fixed every hole and also fixed a hole in my bolero- the bolero without charge. He also bustled my dress and fixed a "bone" in the waist that was pitching. I gave one star because his hours are great and each time I called he answered and I was able to speak with him directly. Another star because he was very personable and professional to work with. The third star is his attention to each detail and ability to fix each problem and every hole. The fourth is for his timeliness and ability to finish the work in a guaranteed amount of time. The fifth star is for the quality. My dress truly is perfect. I read a review below that said he was expensive. It does cost to get your wedding dress made to order. But let me tell you, I would rather pay and have it be done correctly the first time- than be surprised like I was with the dry cleaners taylor. You get what you pay for- I wish I would have gone to him first. It would have saved me a lot of stress and extra money. I would say the average alteration price for brides is $650- $700. But I have had friends pay that much and their dress still isn't perfect. I asked him how much it would be to fix my dress and he quoted me $850, but I know it wouldn't have been as much if he didn't have to fix previous mistakes the cleaners made- plus the level of difficulty on my dress was probably a 9 or 10 out of 10 because of all the detail work. The deposit was $100. I know the dress was more work than even he thought it would be but he did not charge me more at the end. read more

After anxiously awaiting its arrival, the dress finally came (just a few weeks before the wedding) and I was then worried about finding a "last-minute" tailor. I'm new to the Newport area and had a horror story with another alterations place on PCH, who completely butchered a bridesmaid dress. I did some research and discovered Gabriel on yelp! I told him I needed my dress altered in just a few weeks. He was so easy to work with and affordable! His pricing is very comparable, especially for this area, and it was actually quite a bit cheaper than what the NYC boutique wanted to charge me for alterations! Wedding dress alterations definitely aren't cheap, but his services were worth every penny! My dress was all lace, strapless and didn't have any seams along the side, which the NYC boutique owner told me would make it somewhat difficult to alter. I left it in Gabriel's hands and was nervous about the outcome. After just a few weeks, I went to pick up my dress and it literally fit like a glove! I was expecting to have to go back 2-3 more times, but literally 1 and done. I've been back to him several times since to get other garments and tops altered and will continue to go back! I read reviews and asked around and a couple people recommended Gabriel to me. I call around and Gabriel was definitely the nicest and most accommodating so I decided to go with him! My dress had a lot of layers and details so I was still nervous but Gabriel seemed to be confident in fixing my dress. Of course the salon ordered my dress two sizes too big and I lost weight so getting my alterations was a challenge. I met with Gabriel 4 or 5 times until we had taken in enough and he was great! There was so much layering and detail that it took awhile but it was definitely worth it. Gabriel did great!! 2 suits, 6 Mistakes... Gabriel is the Worst Tailor with VERY Sloppy workmanship. Corona del Mar prices, San Pedro workmanship. DO NOT take your high end clothings there, he will RUIN them as he did with my 2 high end suits. I came here based on the good reviews he has on Yelp. He might do better jobs with wedding dresses or other clothings, but I will NOT take a chance here ever again. Suit #1: Mistake #1: Did not line up sleeve's buttons after alteration Mistake #2: When the 4 buttons on each sleeve lined up after complaint, he did not bother to have them overlapped as the original design was Mistake #3: He marked the length of the suit pants AND Still came out 1 1/2" short (High water pants big time...) and had to lengthen them Mistake #4: When he cuffed the pants, he did most sloppy tailors did, folded the ends and sewed them back, VERY sloppy Suit #2: Mistake #5: After shorthening the second suit jacket sleeves, he did not bother to cut off the excess threads on one of the sleeves...LAZY Mistake #6: After taking in the waist, he sewed the pants back with VERY sloppy workmanship. Inseam ripped about 5 inches (2nd time wearing them after alteration) as I picked something up from the floor with no big motion this morning. Guess he just quickly sewed them back with minimum efforts I originally sent him referrals and now I told all my referrals NOT to give him work. *** Be extra careful in the dressing room as there are pins on the floor. AND you are only a curtain away from him when he stands next to you at the cash register read more

I didn't make an appointment on a busy Saturday but Gabriel was so nice and took me right in. My bridesmaids dress was definitely very tight and too long and it came with a bad snag in the front. He barely spent any time measuring me so I was a tiny bit worried but WOW he's a pro and knows what to do. When I picked up my dress, the fit and length were perfect.
