My first and recent visit to Tony C's is the reason I decided to start a yelp account. A few caveats about my review: we went on a holiday (i.e. they were slammed), I have a family of four (toddler and infant), a background in customer service and management, and I love good food and a great atmosphere. While Tony C's had fantastic pizza (we ordered 2: goat cheese and prosciutto & the truffle mushroom) their service was significantly lacking. The restaurant is very small and narrow, but they use their space wisely and have seating upstairs, downstairs, and outside on the patio. What they don't have is a way to get a stroller or anything else requiring wheels upstairs, so you may have a longer wait if you can't dine upstairs. Our server was very abrupt and always seemed to be pivoting away from our table before we could finish speaking. Like I said, it was a holiday, so they were busy, but it was obvious that they were staffed appropriately and was manageable. We were not provided the appropriate number of plates for our table so everyone could eat and had to keep requesting refills on our free waters, but were constantly asked if we needed another beer. These are small things, but the small things matter and add up. At the end of the meal, we paid in cash and asked for change. The server rounded {down} our change and from a $20 bill provided two $10 bills minus the cents he owed us. This ensured he would receive a greater than 25% gratuity. It was clear that this server was not providing great service, but just trying to milk us for literally every cent he could get from us. He also packed our leftover pizza to go and placed the pieces all on top of each other so the cheese from the pizza on the bottom adhered to the pizza he placed on top of it. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a pizza sandwich, but kind of wanted to keep them separate. It's just another example of his apathy for his job. It's unfortunate, because the food was delicious and Tony C's has a great atmosphere, but one server, one person, can create an atmosphere that is so very unenjoyable that you don't really want to return. Good pizza is not that hard to come by and being generally friendly in a customer service position shouldn't be either. If you do go to Tony C's I'd suggest getting your food to go and enjoy your savings on the gratuity that won't be stolen from you. read more

The pizza was fantastic!!! The garlic fries are a must!!! Martinis were average and service was too. Restaurant seemed very understaffed.

Excellent service, and the pizza was beyond expected for Austin. The crust was cooked to near perfection, just the right amount of crunch. This is my pizza destination in Austin. read more

My in-laws were in town to celebrate a late Christmas and early New Years with us a day ago. We had gone to an early movie and stopped by Tony C's afterward to grab a late lunch. It was surprisingly busy, and the restaurant was relatively full for it being almost 2:00 on a Monday. We were sat upstairs to find it just as full as down-stairs. It took our waiter a couple of minutes to get to us, but it seemed like he was helping 2 or 3 tables close out their tabs. He then came over and took our order (by that time we had established what we wanted to eat, as we were very hungry, mind you it might have been 4-5 minutes), but he didn't write down a single order, and there were 6 of us!! He apologized for the delay in getting to us (which we respected), but we quite honestly were very worried in the fact that he didn't write anything down. Considering we had 2 pizzas with plenty of toppings, pasta's, sandwiches and our drinks we didn't expect anything to be right...we couldn't have been more wrong! Everything came out perfect, and he remained incredibly attentive to us for the rest of the meal! It had been a few months since we had been to the Galleria and we didn't recognize the waiter but it looks like their waitstaff is improving greatly! (In addition to all of this, we realized halfway through the meal that he was the only waiter serving any tables upstairs!!)) We can't wait to go back! read more

I always enjoy the ambiance and surroundings at Tony C's. The food is great, I highly recommend the Mama Mia pizza with pepperonis and italian sausage. The crust is crispy almost the whole way through. read more

Nice ambience ,nice service, and very nice coal fired pizza!! Came here yesterday with my niece and her husband who have moved from California and are sort of regulars here. The place is really cool with indoor and outdoor seating. It was Tuesday and was happy hour so the drinks were half the regular price and on top the pizzas were - buy one and get one for free - during happy hour. We had two large pizzas and those were plentiful for six of us. So, for the price and quality, it is hard to beat. I also liked the upscale shopping area where this is located. We ate here last month when visiting Austin with friends. The Baked Buffalo Mozzarella and Stuffed Mushrooms were delicious appetizers. My wife and I shared the Beet and Arugula salad and our friends had a House salad and we thought both were also good. We ordered two, large pizzas and definitely needed "to-go" boxes! The Mulberry Meatball pizza was good. It felt more like a "Neapolitan" style pizza (in my amateur opinion). Ingredients were sparse, including sauce, but all balanced nicely with the crust. Crust was fantastic, on the thinner side and crispy (but not so much as to be like a cracker) with a nice chew. The real star of our meal was the Bianco pizza. I'm not normally a fan of pizzas with a cream sauce but this pizza was fantastic! It was wonderful to spread the roasted garlic and dollops of ricotta cheese across the slice before eating. I almost ordered another whole pizza to take home with me! Desserts were perfectly acceptable. No comment on the coffee. The staff was friendly and very accommodating when we asked to be seated at a different table then the one they brought us to. Overall, we experienced prompt and courteous service. The location of the restaurant we went to was in the Bee Cave area of Austin. It was in a larger shopping complex and our GPS didn't lead us right to the restaurant unfortunately. I am very impressed with this place. Went here recently with my boyfriend to try it out, and was not disappointed. We had the garlic knots, which was so good. We got a proscuitto pizza as our meal, and were kind of bummed as it tasted odd to us. Our waitress noticed, and we said we were bummed we didn't go with the margherita. She asked her manager if she could switch the pizzas out, and made another one for us at no charge! Very good service. read more

I stopped in once when I was on the Galleria once-a-month wine walk. I just wanted a slice of pizza in between getting tastes of wine at the various stores. So a slice usually comes from a pizza that was prepared earlier and therefore is often not pizza at its freshest best. I'm explaining this in an effort to be fair. I got the most awful pizza ever! It wasn't even as decent as a previously frozen pizza from a grocery store. I tried to eat it through my disbelief at how bad it was, because I needed a bite of food. read more

The manager was awesome. Our server was very slow, took water glass to fill and took a long time to bring it back, brought our food but didn't get us silverware right away. Have in the past had good food here. Something seems to be off. The last two visits in the past month there have been issues. They are out of a lot of the beer on their menu. This has happened multiple times. The pizza which has always been very good in the past, has just been okay. Not enough toppings and we never seem to get extra cheese when we order it, and pay for it. Hope they get it together. Something here is not quite right. read more

Ate there for lunch today and had the 2 slice lunch special. Great pizza. Sauce was really tasty and a very nice crust. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs which was delicious. Finally pizza in Texas that is edible. We are from NY and lived in Italy. After a year we gave up trying to eat pizza here. Most of it was tomato sauce on a cracker. The time the waiter in one place brought us Ranch dressing with the pizza I almost threw up. I said "what is that for?" He said" to dip the pizza" man are you kidding. The pizza is that bad you have to dip it in salad dressing. So we gave up. Until my wife convinced me to go to Tony C. Finally pizza that was as good as you get in New York. The only thing that prevents this restaurant from being a 5 is the cost. Fantastic pizza. Usually the pizza my wife and I like the kids don't but everyone was in agreement; best pizza we have had!!! Service was great and what a cool building...looks like you are in a downtown old buiding with the brick walls. So, you ought to at least go and try it one time and decide if it is worth the price...we think so, but just won't go as often as we would normally. read more

Last weekend my family and I went to Tony C's for lunch and we've decided we probably won't go back due to the service. we were seated upstairs which was a mistake. After a 45 minute wait, they brought food for everyone in our party except for 1 person who didn't get their entree until 20 minutes later. during this hour and 45 minute eating out marathon our waitress checked on us about twice. the garlic rolls that came with our entrees were completely raw on the bottom. we love the food (except for the raw bread) but if we go again we have to assume there will be mix ups in the kitchen and be prepared to wait 2+ hours. read more

We have been here three times, but I think this last time may be the last time, Each time the wait staff has been friendly and professional, but every time we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time, for some part of our meal. This last time the waiter sold us on dessert, peach cobbler with vanilla gelato, the desert special. After a 30 minute wait, the waiter told us they they didn't have vanilla gelato, and we where still waiting for the cobbler, Why did it take 30 minutes to tell us they where out of something? I think there is an obvious issue with communication between the front and back of the house. Management has a lot of work to do. Sadly we probably won't be back, to bad, the food is pretty good, if you can get it to your table. read more

Don't come here unless you want to pay double the price on a bottle of wine. We initially ordered the cheapest bottle and they said they were "out" then we said we'd take the next cheapest bottle and they said they were "out" and so she told us the cheapest bottle they had was a Zinfandel Sonoma which they charge $50 for and it's $24 at the liquor store and $14 at the grocery store. Also, I ordered the most expensive thing on the pasta menu which was the Salmon fettuccine Alfredo which was $25 and it was cold, the noodles were undercooked, and the dish barely had any sauce. Came in for dinner Saturday night. We come in all the time and everything is normally perfect. Tonight was a different story though. When our appetizer baked cheese come out it wasn't what we were use to. It wasn't melted all the way and a little cold in the middle. This is where things get cool! When we let our waitress know she immediately went and got the manger who handled the situation perfectly. Not only did she get us a new baked cheese right away but she took it off our bill. On top of all that both were extremely sweet and genuine. Awesome that not only is this place on point most of the time but when they do mess up they go above and beyond to fix it! read more

I recently just moved to this area and always love going into the Galleria for shopping. We finally had the chance to stop into Tony C's and were very impressed. I love the idea that they provide an early and late happy hour! When it was time to order, I was really in the mood for a fresh salad. So, i ordered the Greek salad! Oh my goodness was this salad to die for! It had everything i wanted plus a little extra because I love feta cheese and pepperocini's! We also shared the Mamma Mia pie and i absolutely loved everything about it! Our service was fantastic and the food was out of this world! We will definitely be back! read more

Good Margarita pizza. HORRIBLY SLOW. We waited almost an hour for our pizza. Recommendation: order to go, then wander the Galleria while you wait. The inside of the restaurant is jammed and chaotic, so eating at home would be a better option, anyway! read more

we all know pizza is a holy entity to some, but if you're looking for good new york style pie in Austin Texas then you can do no better than tony C's. we love their half price wine bottle Wednesdays and getting a drink from the bar before catching a movie, just to come back after for a healthy sized slice is great. we have tried their bianco, pepperoni, cheese and sausage by the slice and they are divine and never once oily.we try to go there once a week and even though we are moving towards I-35 this year, we will try to come in for a slice as often as we can. just come in to tony C's and judge for yourself. read more

I went in thinking this was going to be a really good restaurant to eat at. Saw a lotof reviews onthis place and thats why I wanted to come here. Placed my order, twenty minutes later appetizers came out, they were not what I had ordered. Took another ten minutes to get the appetizers out, which were good. One appetizer was stuffed mushrooms, which I really liked and would recommend. The other appetizer was an order of parmesan garlic fries, which were ok, nothing really special about them. Plates came out about five minutes later, one was a pasta with different meats ina creamy sauce, which was good. Also ordered a large pizza, which was not at all what I was expecting. Had a nice thin crust, but more than half of each slice of pizza was soggy, not good at all. Service was not good either, waitstaff was no where to be found when we needed something. They came out when it was time for giving me the check though. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Since moving to Austin after 12 years in NY, there's nothing I've been misssing like the pizza. I totally concur with the comparisons to NY pizza. Tony C. has got the crust down perfectly, thanks to the coal-fired (or coal-whatever) oven. It is super-thin with the occasional smoky black mark - I love it. We had the Margarita pizza, which is by the far the closest to Lombardi's or Grimaldi's-style pizza I've come across in Austin. I was in heaven, and just so happy the whole time I was eating. My husband, a Brooklynite by birth, had to order a plain slice on the side to see how that measured up, and that was pretty yummy too. Our house salad was a nice precursor to the pizza, and a Peroni on the side hit the spot. Service was decent. I'm already looking forward to a return trip. read more

I like this place. It makes me want to don my J brand jeans and Christian Louboutin sandals and swig chilled wine. I love the decor but, love the pizza and fries even more. The crust is crisp but, holds up well to the toppings. The cheese pizza (my absolute favorite) has just enough "grease" to satisfy a pizza craving without having it run down your arm. The sausage pizza is in a class all of its own. I always order a side of fries with my pizza. Lately, it has been hit or miss with the wonderful seasonings. The more seasonings, the merrier. We order Mangieri's Pizza all the time simpy because they deliver. I wish Tony C's would deliver!!!!!!!!!!! Hint.....Hint..... read more
