"Absolutely delicious!" These were basically the 2 words that kept flowing out of mine and my husbands mouth! We ordered the Green globe which is seriously a must have, a globe of crab salad, spicy tuna (melt in your mouth I'm telling you) and thinly sliced avocado. We couldn't get enough. On top of that we ordered a beef teriyaki and tempura vegetable bento box and a tiger roll. We could have just both ordered a green globe and been full! Hands down best place for sushi in town! Every time we go we try at least one new item. Our favorites are the Green Globe, Tuna Taco, and the Tuna Crostini(Seasonal on Green Tomatoes) is the best bite you will ever have. There is always a wait, but it's worth it anytime. You can also reserve a romantic booth in the back traditional take off you shoes and bring a bottle of your favorite wine for a small fee. I asked the chef for a recommendation and he suggested a peach paradise roll... fresh peach & asparagus w/ spicy yellowtail, snow crab salad, & tobiko caviar. By far, my husband and my favorite Japanese food restaurant. Even though we always leave with a high bill, we are very full from the high quality and well presented dishes. We lived in Japan for a couple of years and always appreciate the true Japanese high standard. Although we never had calamari over there, Tona's calamari is the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is great, the service is great, there's no uppity pretentiousness though the quality is amazing--- it's just a great experience. If you're a sushi newby ask for a Vegas Roll or go with the Brad. If you're more on the experienced side the Escolar-cilantro can't be beat. Tip- for a non-sushi treat go with the the Tempura Udon. I had the daily selection of nigiri sushi, the pork belly wrap and the Hamachi Carpaccio. Among these selections, I felt that the nigiri sushi was the best choice! The daily selection of nigiri sushi showcased yellowtail, salmon, swordfish, fatty salmon, another part of salmon which I didn't recognize, tuna. The chef who created this selection was very thoughtful. He made sure that the nigiri was small enough to be finished in one bite, so that all the flavours would fuse in that one moment. He also matched different flavoured sauce with each nigiri perfectly to enhance the original flavour of each sashimi. This is also a good tactic to hide any hint of staleness. Because of the thoughtfulness, each piece was a stand alone piece of art, to be savoured. In addition, it only costs $12 for the six pieces of gastronomic art. It would have got a complete four star, if not for the over priced value of the other dishes. Perhaps if the server explained clearer the characteristic of the dishes I was going to receive I would not have been as disappointed with the unexpected small portions. read more

This is the Takashi of Ogden - good and pricey sushi, with fancy appetizers and entrees. Service was AMAZING! I have only great things to say about my server, he was super friendly - again, a smile goes a long way! We ordered 4 rolls, two appetizers, 2 drinks, 1 beer and 1 side - all for around $100. All in all i think it was a good deal! I don't know if I would make the drive from SLC to come here though... we had to wait about an hour for a table, and after making the drive we decided to just wait. The street outside is nice for a stroll, and check out the other places if you need to kill some time. If you have kids with you (we did!) you can walk a few blocks east to the amphitheater where there is a really nice playground. The hour went by fast, and the staff called after 30 minutes to apologize for the long wait, and to ask if we wanted to be seated at the bar. Since we had kids we declined and waited another 20-30 minutes, wasn't too bad. We were lucky we had good weather though - if it would have been raining and I had to wait inside or in the car we wouldn't have made it for sure! The waiting area inside the restaurant is tiny. I'd recommend it to whoever enjoys trying new sushi places! We really enjoyed the atmosphere. read more
