Literally the best staff and best food. The floor managers and staff were the sweetest and took our baby for a stroll just so we could enjoy our meal. So, landlocked state, sushi...YES! First off, my service was exceptional- friendly and fast. Brittni was the bomb! Second, offerings were quality, with some unique flair. I can generally tell if I am going to like the sushi based on the miso soup quality (I know that sounds weird)...but this miso soup did not disappoint! Rich in flavor, copious in size and just the right amounts of seaweed and tofu- a 10 on the miso soup! The seaweed salad and garlic edamame are great apps. Very flavorful. I added the octopus to the seaweed salad which was a nice combo! The nigiri was generously sized and fresh flavor and the cherry blossom roll was a great combo with salmon and tuna. Ambiance is casual, but cute for sure in the adorable setting of this old town, downtown Ogden. I will be back! read more

Yes award winning for a reason. The AC was out so my experience of the ambience may have been skewed. It was really warm and humid inside. Lots of people already seated and eating by 5:30 PM. Very friendly service! We got the oyster shooter, miso soup, sablefish nigiri, black jack roll, escolar-hamachi roll, kamikaze roll, and the smokin hot-machi roll. They were all good, our personal favorites were the black jack and escolar-hamachi rolls! Tona has some unique rolls that I haven't seen before so it was nice to try something different. The prices are a bit high with a lot of rolls being around $20 but I'm glad the less expensive rolls were delicious too. read more

This food was really good! Top notch service. The table was traditional with pillows for floor seating. The restaurant has won many awards. It is located in the historic part of town on 25th street so just a great old town feel. If you are ever in town you should come and grab a bite! read more

At first, this place gave me total New York hangout vibes -- cool atmosphere, fun energy, exactly what you want heading into New Year's Eve. I was actually excited! ...but then the food arrived. I came in with high hopes based on all the great reviews, but the sushi was a letdown. Very average fish selection, and the salmon skin roll had cold skin and dry like it was pulled out of freezer... with lemon? I couldn't even finish it. And that's a first for me -- I've never left sushi behind before. It definitely made a memory... just not the one I hoped for. Great vibe, disappointing food. Make sure you get the semi private room! You sit on pillows seemingly on the floor but there is a hole cut out on the center for your legs. It's a cool experience. The grinch roll is so innovative and delicious! Service is OUTSTANDING! I believe Kelly was our server and even brought out a complimentary dessert for our graduate. Red devil roll felt like it was missing something to give it that extra kick. Caterpillar roll and chicken teriyaki were solid. Such a cool spot with wonderful staff. I had the pleasure of trying out Tona for the first time after sampling their delicious flavors at the Best of State party in 2023. It did not disappoint. I was most impressed with the Grinch roll, that definitely caught me off guard in the best way. I can definitely see how this restaurant has won so many awards. Food was great and would definitely go back for that alone. We've been to Tona quite a few times and always had great service. This time it was just awful. The waitress looked visibly upset to serve our family and rushed us out. Before we could finish our meal she was asking how many to go boxes we would like. Then proceeded to give us the bill and hover over my shoulder when I wasn't finished eating. It was a was very disappointing and not the service we were used to. Love this place! Very chill vibes up front, but in the back they have a really cute traditional set up where the tables are on the ground and you have cushions to sit on. The service was really great. Very attentive and nice! Now the food was really good! I loved all the different rolls they offered and the appetizers were fantastic! Best sushi in town. I always order the Green Monster. It never disappoints. If you can get a seat, try sitting over on their other side, which is different from the normal chairs. I'm not very picky with my sushi, I'm the type of person who orders a California roll happily. However, I know the quality at Tona is worlds above anywhere I've ever been. I would pay that amount of money any day for Ambri as my server. This woman could kick me in the shins with an anvil and I would thank her. Tona is a blessed facility to have her in their presence. She has god tier serving skills and even better conversation. If I had three wishes, I would give my first two to Ambri Huffaker. Her aura is peak and fits the aesthetic of Tona perfectly. The only thing I'm not a fan of is those chopped server shirts. Ain't no one tryna see those black collar shirts. Good friends suggested we meet at Tona for dinner and it was fantastic. I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried a few different rolls which were all excellent. I choose the salmon teriyaki roll and avocado roll and was really happy with them both. The rolls were beautifully made and the ingredients had amazing flavor. I tried a few of my companions rolls as well - which had actual raw fish as opposed to mine - and they were all great. We got the Purple Haze sake and it was lovely. I found myself on Ogden, just me and my 12 year old son. We were hungry so I asked him what he wanted and he suggested sushi. I'd never been to Tona so we thought we'd give it a try. Seated promptly at the bar on a Tuesday night, place was fairly crowded. For starters we ordered the shrimp tempura and vegetables which was quite good, and the Asian ribs that my son loved. Nice start to the meal. They brought us a nice damp warm towel with the ribs which was a nice touch, but only one even though everything is supposed to be family style. I let my son use it which was nice and kept him clean after eating the very yummy, fall off the bone, ribs. But two warm towels would have been better. 4/5 The first roll we received was the sunshine, one of my favorites and it was really good. We both gave it two thumbs up. 5/5 Sweet Pee, snowcrab, lime, cucumber, topped w/avocado, jalapeno, honey, seven spice. I hadn't tried honey on a roll before and was interested to see if the sweet honey and jalapeño would work together. Not so much, it felt mismatched to me. 3/5 Coconut Crunch yellowtail, fresh pineapple, panko fried w/coconut crust, topped w/snow crab salad and chili garlic sauce. I was leery as I don't usually prefer fried rolls but thought my son might like it. We both didn't care for it at all. You couldn't really taste any of the featured flavors, no pineapple, no coconut, just fried crunchy not sure what. 1/5 And then we received the bill $120 with tip for three rolls almost $20 each, and two appetizers. I could have gone to Takashi for less and better sushi. Possibly my roll selection could have been better, but what they served was not worth the money. Having some buyer's remorse here. read more

Definitely need a reservation, especially on the weekend. Waited about an hour without one. It was really busy with a crowd of people and the space between tables are tight. There was a little wait for the food but well worth it. The sushi rolls are pricey, but they're pretty big. This is more fine dining than casual and the price reflects that. So expect dropping at least a $100 for a couple people. I used to work there so I know the owners are about quality and have never been disappointed in a meal there. Our server was nice enough. She told me of birthday specials, so look out for that. Also the cheesecake is made in house, so I recommend it for dessert. read more
