Pepperoni pizza

Tom's is a classic DeLand pizza place. I love the way the little pepperonis curl up. My favorite way to eat it is to dip the pizza in their ranch!

Tom's Combo and Tom's veggie -bottom-

Apparently a local favourite, and obviously for good reasons. Here's how we went: - slice pizzas: got Tom's Combo (meats and veggies) and Tom's Veggie (veggies only). $2.25 per slice, you get your own little pizza wheel which was a great fun to use, all the toppings were tender and tasty, with nice thin crispy base and crust. We did NOT like that the pizzas were not hot enough. - Italian sandwich -in the photo-, very dry, so we had to ask for extra Italian dressing which made it a lot better, but the sub itself lacked flavour. For any Italian sub connoisseurs out there, we would not recommend this. - cheese bread: the server lady described this as a pizza turned inside out, and she was spot on. This was freshly made and we could tell because it was piping hot, plenty of cheese, came with salsa and ranch sauce. We loved this. - We also liked the family vibe and friendly fast service.

Menu: Appetizers wings and salads.... The Best!

Great little Italian restaurant. This restaurant has been…read moreeverything from a Chinese restaurant to a variety of sandwich shops over the years. It's literally across from Boulevard tires on Woodland Blvd. I was glad to see the spot being used again. I had some trouble tracking down their number and website due to so many pizza places in the area called Anthony's pizza but I persevered and I'm glad I did. I ordered three large Strombolis, one meat lovers, one cheese and one vegetarian. Their website offers the option to order everything online which was a great. In five minutes I'd ordered my food and received an email confirmation with an estimated time that my dinner would be ready. I walked in and my food was waiting. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. I thought for a Friday night they were pretty slow but this particular location isn't exactly close to main Deland thoroughfares. I'm betting word of mouth will help their business name recognition. The ladies working the register told me they'd only been open at this location for two months. Downtown Deland is a mile north and your other restaurants are located a mile or so south so unless you drive by your probably just not going to visit this area of Deland. The food was really tasty! I also liked the fact that there was plenty of sauce to dip the strombolis in. The strombolis themselves were packed with ingredients and the dough it was wrapped in was great too! I'm looking forward to trying their pizza next time.

Enjoy the friendly staff with a large menu and great pizza. A pack restaurant with no rush take…read moreyour time to eat. .

Italian food review at Positano Italian Restaurant in DeLand!…read more We tried the chicken parmigiana and penne alla vodka with chicken. Lunch came to $39 before tip, including a Diet Coke and water. The food was good, and I'd give the taste an 8/10. However, I was hoping for a little more of a "wow" factor, especially in the presentation. I'll admit I'm a tough critic when it comes to Italian cuisine because of my Italian background! Overall, Positano is worth a second visit. Next time, I'll try something different and see if I find that extra-special dish. Our server was attentive and did a great job! Have you eaten at Positano in DeLand? What should I order next? #ItalianFood #DeLandEats #CentralFloridaFoodies #ChickenParmigiana #PenneAllaVodka

Timing is everything, and you can tell whether a restaurant…read moreis ready for business when it simply must meet its core standards for food, service, and ambience. I had lunch on Saturday, October 17th, and was greeted at the door by a waitress who was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was empty since it was the start of the lunch hour. Ambience is not high on the list beyond what is organically provided by residing in an historic building off the main drag. This is, after all, a college town. There was a small bar in front of the kitchen with a TV silently showing an Italian cooking show. I first availed myself of the restroom. It was clean and organized. Hot water at the sink was not immediately available. But it was serviceable for its use, no doubt having experienced a lot of use. Once seated, I ordered a Diet Coke, which did not seem mixed quite right. A minor flaw, but portentous. i also had a double espresso, which was well made and balanced. Only one kind of sugar was available, it seemed, so raise your game. The diligent server then took my order of caprese salad and a calzone with pepperoni and meatballs. In large urban areas this is pretty much basic and reliable Italian fare. The sliced mozzarella on the caprese was fresh and cool, the tomatoes just ripe enough. Black olives provided with the salad were canned. The dressing was skimpy and standard grocery fare. Not much flare or attention to detail in presentation or the food on the plate. Just (pre?) sliced mozzarella and tomatoes on a plate. Safe, but nothing I cannot do for myself. They should 86 the olives. Try harder or don't bear the expense. Also, this course requires basil, seasoning, and nuance. No real effort was apparent. This is, after all, an appetizer. The customer should want more after this initial introduction. The calzone was apparently reheated or overcooked, I couldn't quite tell because I had to cut it forcibly with my knife. The ricotta seemed fine mixed with the pepperoni and ground meatball mix, but along the way a sour aftertaste became noticeable. I was on holiday and just wanted a good and safe meal. I ate what was presented, but soon regretted the decision. Determined not to be completely defeated on my jaunt, I decided to try the cannoli. This was a "c" meal: caprese, calzone, cannoli. It was actually freshly made and delicious. Perhaps they should limit themselves to dessert. Good cannoli is a keystone discriminator among Italian restaurants. The cooking show silently playing on the TV showed a chef preparing simple but imaginatively prepared Italian food. I wanted to be there instead of sitting in the establishment I was in. Overall great service and dessert, but it didn't make up for pedestrian (at best) food. I soon experienced indigestion that lasted the entire day, requiring an antacid. I won't be going back.

We've been coming to…read morethis spot since the early 1990s--back when it may have had a different name--but one thing hasn't changed: it's consistently been a great place for pizza (with the usual beer and wine to round things out). The interior hasn't changed much over the years. The flooring and booths look just as I remember, though the tables in the back might be newer. Either way, it's clean--and that's what counts. It's actually a bit nostalgic... like stepping into a time capsule where the pizza never let you down. We stopped in around 3:30 on a Friday and were surprised to find it incredibly busy for that time of day. No problem--the staff handled the crowd like pros. And while the pizza is very good (which is the main event), don't overlook the service: professional, friendly, and fast. Prices have always been fair--something that feels almost nostalgic these days too. So really... why go anywhere else for a pie? Enjoy!
