I ordered a personal pie with fresh garlic for lunch today. I spoke to a girl that works there. They delivered an hour later and she sent a personal pie with pepperoni. I called and spoke to her again that she gave the wrong order she sent she will send another one. An hour passed and the delivery still didn't come. I called back and spoke to tommy he was rude a cursed at me saying he doesn't have time for this bull shit and didn't know what I was talking about. Never again. read more

ive been to this place a few time b/c of david portonoy giving them a good review. everytime i come here, i find they act strangely. almost in a condescending way, i am a black woman, and i feel they try to either over compensate by having these loud put you on the spot conversations, while the other half of the employees look at you like why are you here. so i ordered 3 slices and i can tell that 2 slices were fresh and the 3rd one was shoved into my box cold and probably been sitting there half the day. i guess they felt , either i wouldn't notice or they just didn't care what i thought. after today i will not come back. read more

This place was recommended to my sweetheart and the two of us were determined to get there and try it out for ourselves. After a long, rainy day on "The City" in the afternoon fighting off traffic, we got there to pick up an order we placed over the phone (15 minutes before) for a large regular pie double cut, there were there customers ahead of us, an indication this place is all that indeed, not to mention, the man they call Tommy himself on the middle of the pizza making operation, all the people in there were so friendly (customers included) and made it worth the trio. We get out pizza pie and two sodas: one canned and one bottled... All for $20! And we get back to our car, open up the box and the pizza looked amazing and ended up eating the whole pie IN THE CAR! without any grease at all and without feeling stuffed one bit and the large pie was the perfect size for two! My sweetheart went back there a couple days later and she had the same great experience there too. Yep, Tommy's is the real deal and as one previous poster stated it just might be THE best pizza in all of NYC! I guess there are many reasons this place has been around since the 1950s. While I was deployed to NY for the Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts I had to opportunity to explore the various pizza joints in search for my perfect NY pie. Tommy's won hands down for me! I eventually started bringing friends/co-workers there with me and started getting requests from them for me to bring them almost every day! I was staying on a Naval training ship at SUNY Maritime College and brought menus back with me for ship's crew members that couldn't really leave and they all ended up ordering delivery pretty regularly. Kudos to Tommy's for delivering to the ship! I just can't say enough about the fantastic pizza and everyone that works there is so friendly and fun to talk to. I always ate there at the bar. There are a few tables in the back but the fun is definitely hanging with everyone out front at the bar where you can watch them make your perfect pie. Order a whole pie or by the slice. It doesn't matter because it's all fantastic! The place is usually hopping but they are quick and because it's busy the pizza (for slices) is always fresh and always available. Remember that they only accept cash (prices are very good though) and parking can be rough as there are other restaurants in the area. Pretty much everyone double parks just to go into Tommy's! Oh, and I loved that they are open until 1am on weeknights! read more

Just moved to The Bronx. First day of unpacking always calls for a local pizza place for dinner. We were not disappointed. Our first try at an authentic New York Pizzeria. The pie was thin (even to the crust) with a nicely charred bottom and huge slices. We got ours with pepperoni, bacon, and garlic. A nice combo in our minds. The sauce was a nice mild tomato sauce which was not overly seasoned/spiced. We ordered delivery and it got to the house quickly. I went to pay the delivery person and didn't have enough change for tip. I told her I would head in real quick to grab some tip money and she just said "Don't worry about it. You can get it next time." She isn't wrong, I'll be ordering from Tommy's again, and again, and again. Ive been told for a real authentic taste of a New York pizza, you shouldn't get any toppings besides the cheese. Maybe that'll be my next order. read more

I've been ordering from here for 10 years And after tonight never again. As an Italian, i honestly don't know why i gave them so much business for their shitty as mediocre food. They delivered the pizza an hour late and it was ice cold. My kids wouldn't eat it. So I called back and they said they would send another pie. I waited another hour and the pie never arrived. Classic old style pizzeria. No TVs necessary in this joint. Nothing fancy about the place just one of the top 4 pizzas I've eaten in my life. Tommy the owner still makes the pizza and the sauce is very nice.I love the hours of operation. BTW, The other 3 best pizzas are: Louie and Ernie's, the old and now gone for decades, but never forgotten, Volari on castle hill and Westchester ave, totonnos on second avenue. Very Unhygenic establishment. No one uses gloves. They handle money and pizza all in one. They use dirty wash rags to clean the counter tops and turn around to put that same hand in the cheese or on your pie. Washing hands is never a thought on anyone's mind. Cleanliness is not their mission statement. Go to Franks pizza where your health is not a burden to the employees. read more

This place is like the forgotten and long shut-down pizza joints of days past. I have only been twice, just learned of it a week ago. Pizza like this used to be much more common around NYC but most of these places have been pushed out in the last 15-20 years. Certainly in lower Manhattan where I hail from at least... It's just a perfect specimen of regular pizza. It's not as gourmet as a DiFara and it doesn't have some unique twist to it. went to tommys after the one bite pizza review. never been there before so i jumped in with 2 feet and ordered 2 pies for takeout. the pizza there was just as described i dont like pizza with hardly any sauce tommys puts a decent amount of sauce and cheese and bakes the pie perfectly. very good pizza and well worth going out of your way a little for the perfect slice. read more

Horrible service. Girl with long hair has horrible customer service. 4 people working and I walk in and the don't say hello, nothing, just look at me like I'm bothering them. The pizza is good but the service isn't great. Maybe I'm just used to friendliness but some of the workers here lack that. if you're serving people, don't shove their pizza boxes at them. I get that people have bad days but being rude to your customers just drives them away. Never going back here just because of the service.
