The Good: place seems clean and the service was decent. I ordered a chicken parmigiana calzone and a slice with big drops of mozzarella cheese and strips of pesto sauce across the slice. Basically a plain cheese slice with lines of pesto sauce across it. The chicken parmigiana calzone was piping hot, the chicken was cut up into very small pieces with mozzarella cheese. I was particularly hungry when I ordered and it satisfied my hunger. Would I say it was the best calzone I've tested, there is no way. I would rate it a 5.6 out of 10 for overall flavor. So, it was middle of the line good. The pesto slice was 6 out of 10 for overall flavor. It was dripping and oozing oil from the end of the fold onto the plate. Which wasn't appetizing. Too oily for my taste. So overall the place gets a solid 5 out of 10. Ambiance is okay it's a typical bronx owned pizzeria. They deliver through UBER and interestingly enough to me, they were playing Italian Music videos on the screen through the YouTube channel. I'm being generous because I was hungry. I'd imagine I would have rated this pizzeria lower if I wasn't as hungry. read more

My fiancé brought me to this little pizza shop down the block from his aunt's house. I never had Bronx pizza living in NY and it's never too late to try. Joe's slices of pizza are huge. I decided to grab a sicilian slice and a chicken bacon ranch slice. The sauce used in the sicilian slice was perfect. Perfectly balanced and not heavy. The dough was fluffy and had a nice crisp to the bottom. The chicken buffalo ranch slice was loaded with toppings. Definitely not skimping like some other pizzerias could be. The combination of the chicken and bacon with the crispy crust and creamy sauce was perfect. I would order it again. Parking may be difficult in this area depending on the time of day. Truth be told I forgot about Joe's for a while, but I really enjoy Joe's, they make a good quality pie. The Primavera is one of my absolute favorites and a single slice is massive, so 1-2 could satisfy most anyone. The ONLY drawback to Joe's is that they make their marinara on the sweeter side. It's not a problem, so much as something you notice if you are used to a savory sauce. Ordered for delivery. Came an hour later, didn't order during a busy time of the day either. Sicialian pie was not well done like asked, in fact it wasn't even warm by the time it got here. Had to put a one star due to the delivery guy unfortunately after being a customer for a while order a delivery and the delivery guy decided to do what ever he wanted called and said he was outside I told him ok gave him apartment # and said oh no we never go upstairs you probably order from other places that do that we dont do and i told him no am a regular customer and he continue by saying so you dont want it i take i have no problem but we dont go upstairs and hang the phone ,he decided not to come upstairs .meanwhile other delivery guys have always come upstairs even a delivery guy thats also works there and has asthma has come upstairs. I came here in hopes of enjoying a regular slice of pizza and this pizza shop is the worst pizza I've ever had in the Bronx oh man horrible. From taste to the texture and even the color of the regular slice is orange. Then they have the nerve to charge $3.25 for this crap. I don't usually get a regular slice at pizza shop that cater to specialize Pizza with different selections of toppings I'm old fashion I stick to a plain regular slice and add some garlic powder and hot pepper flakes. The Tasty ladies loves their Pizza and have their favorite pizza joints here in "Da Bronx", even gave one an award, but we are always open to try a different one. We have been hearing some buzz about a place that is not new but we have never been called Joe's Pizza at 3009 Middletown Road. This was an "in home evaluation" of a few different types of pizza, chicken parm calzone, and lentil soup. The presentation was nice! Vibrant colors, perfect looking crusts, etc. but I hate to say, this Tasty Lady was not impressed with the texture or taste of each type of pizza. Let's get started! On all the pizzas, the crust was to floury, hard, dry, not crunchy and not synged just right. And the sauce was at best mediocre, very bland! I had to add a lot of seasoning to each type. On the sausage and buffalo chicken the meat was a little well done making it very chewy. So between the hard crust and chewy meat, it was a workout for my jaw that I did not enjoy! We also ordered a slice of grandmas, Margherita, Sicilian and a regular slice that were also just Ok. Now you all know I'm a huge fan of my legumes! I love lentil soup especially! But this one had an odd after taste! I did not even finish it! Plus the pasta that was used was regular ziti, I like a smaller variety pasta usually to not over power my little lentils! Plus, there was a orangey-oily residue on the sides and cover, why? From the Yelp reviews I was hoping for much, much better, maybe we came on an off night?? I called in and ordered a small chicken caesar salad for pick up. I picked it up and went back to my office. When I opened the bag, they had given me the wrong order. It was a regular house salad, with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and red onion. And no napkin and no fork. Their pizzas are gourmet. That's a given but their cooked meals were lacking. When I asked the guys about the ingredients in their rollini's and calzones I was shocked. Yet another true Pizza place that stomps the brands like dominos or little ceasars to dust and ash. They know how crunchy bread is supposed to be. The flavor sauce which is the most important part of Pizza is on their S grade. Cheese is spot on. And the best part is pepperoni pinwheels which are better then the pizza. Great pizza ! But, I have one MAJOR COMPLAINT about the older Spanish delivery guy. He actually touched a female customer, a friend of mine, on their private area when he made a delivery to her home. The regular pizza is fantastic, the Sicilian is out of this world. It's not thin pizza like Louie and Ernie's great thin pizza, but it's the regular stick to your bones type of pizza. It tastes great if you eat it there and even better at home. The sauce on the pizza and the flavor of the dough is better than any other pizza joint in the neighborhood. Delivery is quick although they sometimes mess up the drinks...like if you want to drink diet Pepsi after downing three slices and they bring you regular Coke.. :) I highly recommend Joe's Pizza. The pizza was very tasty however the slices are too thin for me. Although I am pregnant the 2 slices I ate did not fill me up and so I was left feeling a little deprived. I've gotten their fresh made pies delivered & pick-up in the past, and this was just terrible. Cheese matted, crust crunched. So disappointed.
