Decided to take a walk and found this Pizza place. Honestly, it tasted pretty great. Very nice owner and everyone was friendly. The pizza has a more acidic sauce flavor, which I prefer over the typical sweet sauce present in other pizza places. We were passing through on our way to Boston. Needed a break after sitting in Cross Bronx traffic. Reviews brought us here. This is one hell of a slice. The sauce shines and brings a real zest to the pizza. I love it when the sauce sings like that. Tried a chicken calzone as well and had no complaints. The wife loved her Grandma slice. Growing up around them and having their food on pizza night is a cherished memory. The pizza continues to be amazing and while I mostly order these grandma pizzas, I do get their calzones, other pizzas with various toppings. How can i forget about this treasure here? Frank's is a well known staple in the BX for their Grandma's pizza. Let me tell you, I am from Jersey and when I had my first Grandma's slice, I fell in love with the BX. The dough, the sauce, the fresh mozzarella all becomes one and they all compliment each other on a whole nother level. I can literally sit here and eat the entire pie by myself and die happy. There's no other Grandmas pizza made like Frank's. I've also tried their tortellini soup and man. It was so delicious. This is something I will have a heavy craving for during the cold weather. Although the price tag on the soup is around $8 which is pretty hefty, it was delicious and it came with a fresh piece of bread. I believe everything is delicious here but everyone raves about the Grandmas pizza and tortellini soup for a good reason. read more

Got the grandma slice and veggie slice and can soda for $10. both slices were really tasty but i think i liked the GM slice a bit more. the cheese, amazing. tomato sauce, fresh, not too salty. I notice this pizza joint after dropping off a friend who has relatives in the country club section of the Bronx and decided to run in a order , grab and go while eating in the car. Typical decor style old school pizza shop with extensive menu of pizzas, calzones , heroes , soups , pasta dishes , entrees , desserts , apps , etc. I am old school as well when it comes to pizza so it's a SILICIAN and a slice of regular pizza with a 20z of diet coke and that's all she wrote . Guys behind the counter are moving quick as I notice many takeout and delivery orders going out and that's cool as my grub was ready in 5 minutes and bagged up nice and neat .ok SILICIAN gets 2 half stars and slice gets 4 stars as SILICIAN was a little dry on the cheese side but regular slice was very good overall .I should have ordered a few tortellini soups for later but stupid me did not and now I am in the mood for soup .overall giving this pizza joint 3.5 stars this time and if my friend needs a ride to this part of the Bronx and decided not to invite me to his relatives home again , then it's another visit to Frank's pizza for me. read more

A BRONX GEM! I've been coming to franks since I was a little girl. My father grew up in the neighborhood and franks has been a staple of his childhood, and he passed it on to me. Franks is home of the large slice! The pizza is of great taste and obviously size lol. It's probably one of my favorite pizza spots within the 5 boroughs. I first learned of Frank's Pizzeria while dining at Da Franco & Tony's next door - they're owned by the same family (the pizzeria actually came first). I decided to change up my pizza game tonight and grab dinner from them. Their regular pies are quite good - the crust is thin and they incorporate the toppings into the cheese rather than let them sit on top. However, what I believe makes Frank's stand out from other Bronx pizzerias is their grandma pies - think the shape and size of a Sicilian but super super thin. It's crispy, flavorful, and totally out of this world. I've had the regular and spinach and both were amazing - that alone will make me come back again and again. They're in a convenient spot right off the Hutch and the 6 train so it's easy access for me. I would definitely put this in the category of good Bronx pizza. read more

I grew up in White Plains and Westchester in general and family is from Morris Park and Throggs Neck, so I grew up always going to pizza places like Emilio's, Captain's, and getting fresh cut chicken cutlets from Scottie's Meat Market. I never knew about Frank's though. I saw an Instagram ad for them a little while back and glad that I ended up trying them. Their grandma slice is delicious. The sauce is nice and tasty, doesn't taste like restaurant depot prepackaged sauce (even if it is), and the cheese and basil (I think?) on top with the square thin crust bottom just pulls the whole slice together in an excellent way. Had some family over for dinner and decided to order from here as we've done before. However, the Shrimp Scampi arrived small, rubbery and overall quality was pretty disgusting. This has been one of my go to pizza spots for over 8 years. They are always consistent and even remember their customers. They have the best spinach roll you'll ever find and their chicken roll is right behind it. Their pizza is classic, which always hits the spot. The crust isn't too thick and isn't too thin and the sauce and cheese ratio is on point. If you don't want a thicker slice go for the Sicilian, it's the best when it's fresh out of the oven! What the hell happened to this place? We used to order from Franks all the time years ago. Like, I'm talking a large chicken parm pizza 1-2x a week, every single week, for years on end. It was always amazing! However, I ordered Franks for the first in a while just this evening, and it was meh AT BEST. Granted, it's the first time I have ever ordered their pizza by the slice (a chicken parm slice + a broccoli slice) and BOTH were sooo dry, brittle and old looking, as if they had been out for hours. The chicken parm slice also had a very sparse amount of chicken on it, and NOTHING like the generous Franks chicken slice that I knew and loved. We also got a chicken roll, which was tinier than most chicken rolls and basically fell apart when you lifted it. It took an additional 20 minutes in the oven just to sturdy up enough to eat. Honestly -- I'm really bummed. :/ I loved Franks growing up, and was a repeat customer on a weekly basis rom 2010-2014. Sad that the quality seems to have taken a turn here.
