4.5 Rating: Our group of 10 finally made it to Fratelli Italian Restaurant after a few plans were cancelled sue to Jan/Feb snow storms. It would up being worth the wait. All aspects of this visit were spot on: Kind and caring service, excellent food quality, and good value. The pacing of the dinner was also right on- not too fast, not too slow- just right. Dinner starts with a green salad with house dressing and a selection of Italian breads. This is old school Italian service which seems to be going away. as many restaurants regrettably skip on the bread delivery these days. Everyone enjoyed their entrees- Chicken parm, Shrimp Parm, Penne Ala Vodka, Grilled chicken with Broccoli Rabe and the house specialty- shrimp and veal Fratelli- one of the better entrees I have had in a long while. The potato croquettes were a great accompaniment for this dish to enjoy the sauce/gravy. Dessert included perhaps the largest selection ever (a positive) was available along with pictures. The Italian cheesecake was also large and excellent. Hot expresso with anisette was served. The service team here is well trained and on their toes. I can't believe that I didn't know of this place sooner- a true neighborhood gem. They also seemed to be doing a robust take away business... Had such a wonderful lunch here today. My partner and I shared the penne alla vodka, which was absolutely delicious -- perfectly cooked pasta with a rich, creamy sauce that had just the right balance of flavor. We also ordered the chicken alla milanese, and it was outstanding. The chicken was incredibly tender with perfectly crisp breadcrumbs and seasoning that made every bite so satisfying. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. What really elevated the experience was the service. Jonny, our waiter, took amazing care of us. He was attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about the restaurant -- a true curator of the experience. A fantastic lunch all around. I just have to give an additional shout-out to Ulysses, who, from 3000 miles away, took care of me via telephone from Seattle to order some gift cards and have them mailed to me. He went the extra mile, definitely service with a smile, and they arrived super-quick! I cannot say more about this place -- if you're in the Bronx, they definitely deserve your business! I ended up getting the Zuppa Di Pesce special for 2. Though the price tag seems hefty, the portion sizes were large and we had plenty of left over! Oh my God, the food and service were amazing. We went there for a repast after a funeral. The food was so good, course after course. We had a wonderful server named Ulysses. He was very attentive and patient with the 18 of us who were there. It's a haul for us from New Jersey, but we plan on going again. The restaurant is well maintained and the atmosphere is wonderful. There are several Italian restaurants in the Pelham Gardens neighborhood- but Fratelii could certainly be the OG out of all of them. For the last umpteen years, hubs has treated my Mom out for pre-birthday celebrations the weekend before her birthday. He also decided to bring his Aunt to join in because of its lively energy and tasty Italian food. Service continues to be very nice as well as their family-style complimentary salad and bread plate replete with a fabulous dipping oil and a caponata. The food is good- period and rightfully so because I raved the entire evening over my al dente garlic and oil linguine side dish. I went with the Broiled Filet of Sole while my auntie-in-law went for the Francese-type. Mom enjoyed her 2 pork chops topped with peppers & onions and brown sauce. Hubs on the other hand, had a substantial Ribeye and all he kept saying was, "for it not being a steakhouse- these guys nailed the temp and sear on it". Our server was a gentleman til the end. FYI they play 'Happy Birthday' on their sound system ¯\_(ツ)_/¯- it was fun though- everybody joins in and sings. Fratelli is a standout spot. Just had a catered meal here. It was amazing. The service was incredible. The food was delicious. I think we had 7 courses, but am not entirely certain as it was hard to keep track. The rosemary foccacia, vodka penne, and potato croquettes were my all stars. But the chicken parm, veggies, salad, pasta course, and eggplant rolatine were also wonderful. Delicious food, great service, fun ambiance. I came here for the first time for Christmas Eve. The food was delicious on a busy night so I can imagine this is the real deal on a regular night. This will now be my go-to restaurant in the Bronx. First you get started with bread & some garlic bread, then a salad for the table. We ordered baked claims and Burrata with grilled veggies. Originally we randomly tried Fratellis one night. To say the least, I was impressed. I ended up ordering an entree off the specials that consisted of chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella and vodka sauce served with spaghetti and string beans. When we picked up our food, it was handed to us in a half tray! What an amazing portion, and more importantly, it was absolutely delicious! I order it everytime we get takeout! This is a neighborhood restaurant. Been here forever. We often come. Tonight we felt like some good Italian food. The service is always good. The food is always reliable! Tonight we decided to not indulge in an appetizer , entree and dessert. They give you complimentary salad, lots of breads and the eggplant caponata. My husband went with the classic chicken parmigiana! He was amazed at how tender it was. I chose chicken sorrentino. Chicken, topped with a procuitto and eggplant with mozzarella. It was so delic! Let me first start by saying I know we are in the midst of a pandemic and restaurant are struggling significantly! I am empathetic and understand they are just trying to make a living. BUT.. .. This review is mainly regarding food and cost. We ordered take out, so can not comment on service. So this was our second time ordering from this place. We had some minor issues the first time we ordered, but they corrected it. Given the limited food options in our area, we figured we give them another try. The person taking our order over the phone was very nice. We could hear a lot going on in the background, but we never felt rushed. We ordered Calamari, chicken parmigiana, ravioli, and a slice of cake...our total $77 dollars!!! When he said the price we wanted to cancel, but we decided to "treat" ourselves. We were told delivery would take 40 minutes, but our food came over an hour later. The late delivery wasn't the issue, but the fact that all our food was cold was upsetting. The fried calamari was super soggy, the sauce was all over, and the portion was underwhelming for $17. Then I looked at the Ravioli meal and was annoyed by what was sent. I could be wrong, but I don't believe it was worth $19! I included pictures for reference. My husband was as equally disappointed by his chicken parmigiana. The food itself tasted just ok, but not worth the bill. We didn't get any cutlery or napkins. Imagine if we had to eat this on the go, we would have been screwed. I think we would have been happier making spaghetti at home. I do hope that the restaurant survives this crisis so it can improve, but we won't be returning as customers. Looking for a good slice of pizza in the Bronx can be difficult these days but Fratelli's, recommended by a friend, did not disappoint. I ordered a Sicilian Margherita Pie and the Eggplant Parm. Expecting to go down to lobby, the food was brought to my door. It was a warm welcome. The pizza was delicious. The crust, light and crunchy not doughy, just enough fresh mozzarella, sprinkled w basil and baked to perfection. The Eggplant Parm was tasty, the sauce did the trick but I could have used another layer or two. The fresh vegetable medley and Italian bread made me smile. What more could I have asked for. Fratelli continues to dish out what has made it one of the best Italian restaurants in the Bronx. This place is everything you want out an Italian restaurant; small, close-knit staff, and solid food. The menu is mostly no frills with some twists highlighted in their specials. Each meal starts with a mixed salad and bread with an eggplant 'chutney', seasoned oil, and butter. I went with one of their specials for my app: grilled calamari and shrimp over a kale salad. Pretty solid overall - the seafood was seasoned well and the kale was fresh. For my main I had the chicken scarpariello which was served with sausage and hot peppers. Each entree has a choice of mixed veggies, potato croquette, or pasta as a side (I chose pasta). For dessert I had ricotta cheesecake. Fratelli always serves good food; two aspects of the restaurant that leave me wanting more however are the decor and plate presentation. All of the decor is original to when the restaurant opened in the early/mid 90s, so it's tried looking. Additionally, I don't feel plate presentation is Fratelli's strength - we eat with our eyes first and sometimes you have to get over how it looks before realizing how tasty the food is. All in all though, Fratelli is a good choice for real-deal Italian food in the Bronx beyond Arthur Ave. read more

I've lived in this area for the vast majority of my life, and I can't believe that I just went there for the first time last weekend! My mom, her friends and my aunts had been applauding this place for the past few months and I was happy to finally be able to make it there to celebrate my dads birthday. I definitely enjoyed the food, the drinks and felt that everything was reasonably priced. The service was on point as well- our waiter and the other staff were friendly, attentive and were so kind enough to come out and sing happy birthday to my dad when desserts came out! I ordered the Fratelli Shrimp & Veal with a side of their fried mashed potato tots, mom got the chicken francese (spelling?) and pops ordered the scallops. Good meal! I would like to say that the food was absolutely delicious and the drinks. We even took another order home. But the service was horrible. We, mom dad n I, went here for my dad's 85 birthday. We sat down at a table that wasn't 100% setup. Our waiter comes up and asks us for our drink orders n whatnot. Not once did he give his name. We ordered our food n drinks. Got them in a timely fashion and everything was amazing. He never once came to ask if everything was OK, if we needed anything..... Nada. But yet went to all the tables around us to check on them. We asked for to-go orders n our check. Before leaving I explained everything to tge manager as to why we left zero $0 tip. Would I return? Outstanding Italian restaurant! We were very impressed with our first visit to Fratelli. Over the years, I've been to dozens of Italian restaurants and this is one of my favorites. The server was attentive and prompt. The food was excellent and huge portions. And the ambiance was very nice and comfortable. They bring you a salad for the table to share as soon as your are seated, then bread to follow. I had penne with broccoli and garlic along with grilled chicken and it was amazing!
