Might have to be the best Pizza I have had in the area... simple, classic and delicious!!!!!

First time having Franks via delivery on this snowy evening! Nice pizza! Sauce and cheese were generous and fresh and crust was good!! Can't wait to try their other pizza! The soups were good and what the weatherman ordered! Tortellini en broda was fresh tender pasta with a delicious broth! My favorite, lentil soup with pasta was delicious!! We will be back! Me and hubby come here for their heroes. They have a good potato and egg and chicken cutlet hero. We usually take our meals to go. I may have tried other variations of their sandwiches. However those are my top two favorites. read more

Great Neighborhood Pizzeria From the pizza tour diary: My first stop was Frank's Pizza on Middletown Rd. There are lots of kids coming in and out and it looked like an old shop. All good signs. The gran mama slice looked remarkable - but that's easy. Nearly every pizzeria does the grandma well. Sauce and garlic on top of cheese is nearly a guaranteed formula. It's no fun if everybody wins - I don't evaluate the slice. At the plating phase of my regular, they cut the excess cheese off the sides with a pizza cutter. I've never seen that before. It's got a fluffy, cornmeal crust, thin with a tough bottom. The cheese has a hint of sour and biting into it gets slightly juicy. My finger even got burned from a tomato sauce squirt which revealed tomato chunks in there - much appreciated. This is one of the best slices I've had in the Bronx - I was so happy to find it. They aren't as big as a huge Bronx slice, but who cares? 90 percent of those, I will forget with relish. Franks does a great slice, but would I dream of it? Maybe the sauce. This spot is pretty solid. Their regular pizza is OK but they have one of the best grandma slices and the tortellini soup is amazing!! It's consistently delicious everytime I order it- imagine a chicken soup broth with the most amazing cheese filled pastas! Definitely worth the trip! read more

I order a simple pie... took over 1 hr & 25 mins... it came ice cold... I called and asked for the manager or whoever was in charge... they could care less... I actually put there delivery driver on the phone... to confirm that the pizza was late & cold. They didn't give a fuck... told me just not to pay for it... I asked about getting another pizza & was told to order from someplace else if I wasn't happy... Fuck you...!!! Franks is down the block from my apartment and is one of only three pizzerias i trust to eat at in the bronx....this visit...my friend Krista had the Broccoli slice and says it was tasty, and me not being to much of a veggie fan had the chicken calzone to switch things up.... The calzone was ok...just all the cheese and chicken were lodged in the center leaving the a thick perimeter of the calzone being just bread!!! I had a crazy hankering for good pizza last night and so I went on my trusty Yelp app (duh) and this spot close by stood out. The slices were just calling my name and who am I not to answer?!!! I used the Eat24 app to place my order and within a few minutes I received a phone call to confirm my address. Service was polite and VERY quick! I was not expecting my doorbell to ring so soon! Omg the aromas that filled my living room, I wish I could bottle it!! The pizza itself was amazing; hot, cheesy, and garlic goodness! My 2 year old actually ate a full slice all by himself, no begging and no help required! I also had an order of the garlic knots which were also delicious! Imagine walking with a baby in one arm, a whole pie in the other and then wind picking up so hard that the box flips up, open and pizza all over the sidewalk. That is what happened to me. And the guys at this place were nice enough to replace it at no charge. Really got me in the feels, u know? Immaculate shop with really friendly service. Anyway, I got the much coveted grandma pizza. I LOVE this place. My grandmother introduced me to Franks when I was younger. I also introduced Franks to friends and to my boyfriend who lived in manhattan and now lives with me. I used to order meat and the chicken and sausage dishes are amazing. But since turning vegetarian I love there pasta dishes and I love this hero I order just peppers, onions and potatoes. My boyfriend recently ordered chicken Siciliana and enjoyed every bit of it. This place is the kind of place where you want to eat great food but don't want to do all that fancy stuff. read more

I'm not certain how the other Yelpers experienced any rude service (sometimes people need to reflect on their own verbal dialogue, because the customer is NOT always right)..... When I walk in its almost always busy, reaffirming how its a well liked place. The pizza is always fresh because of the high turnover. I love the grandma spinach slice with its crispy thin crust and fresh mozzerell. The combo of the tang of the red sauce with the spinach and the cheese is the best. You can tell they put a lot of time in developing the flavor of their sauce. Not directly from a can like most other places. Their garlic knots are luscious and doughy with an unbelievable golden crust on the bottom where they touched the baking pan. When they drizzle the fresh garlic and olive oil on top...its heavenly. I ask for a side of their red sauce to dip on the side. Their regular cheese pizza slice is a winner too. Pillowy crust, and good quality cheese/sauce ratio.
