I was looking for a gift for a cat and dog lover when my neighbor recommended Tomlinson's, specifically this location near Target. I had never been to a Tomlinson's before--honestly, I had never even heard of it since they don't have any in California. I learned during my visit that there are 18 locations in Austin, and WOW, what an amazing store! The customer service here is on another level--it honestly felt like the hospitality of a high-end hotel. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, even opening the door for customers. They truly go out of their way to help, and I'm not exaggerating! I believe the employee who assisted me was Vanessa, and she was fantastic. She helped me pick out the perfect gifts, especially for the cat-related items since I don't have a cat myself. I was shopping for an 8-year-old who has two cats, so I wanted the best toys. I ended up choosing a faux rabbit foot toy with feathers for self-play, a classic "Lambie" plush, and a handmade hemp catnip mouse with a long tail for interactive play. I even learned a lot about catnip, which I had heard of before but didn't actually know much about--this staff is truly knowledgeable! I also brought my dog with me, and not only did he have a blast playing with other dogs, but the store also gave him free treats to try. They even sent me home with some freeze-dried sample treats, which was such a nice touch. The selection of dog toys here is incredible--I'd honestly be hesitant to bring a child in because the toys are so high-quality, they could pass for children's toys! I ended up getting an amazing eco-friendly crocodile toy made entirely of recycled materials. Its legs are ropes for tug-of-war, and its hollow body holds a replaceable water bottle that creates that satisfying crunching sound dogs love. Once the bottle is chewed up, you can swap it out for a new one--such a smart design! This store has everything--leashes, collars, treats, and a huge variety of toys for both tiny and giant dogs. They also had the cutest little plush toys shaped like root vegetables with adorable faces--absolutely melted my heart! Prices were super affordable, too. Honestly, after seeing what they offer, I don't see the point in ordering pet supplies on Amazon anymore. Stores like this deserve our support, and it's a place my dog genuinely enjoys visiting. I was also looking for travel-sized dog food for a trip and found some perfect 3.5 oz pouches for only $2, which I could take in my carry-on. While browsing, I noticed a lot of repeat customers stopping in just to grab their favorite treats from a self-serve treat station, kind of like those bulk snack bins at Sprouts or Whole Foods. Next time, I'll have to check it out for my dog! Another thing I need to ask about is their nail trimming service, which my neighbor mentioned. While I was there, I even saw the staff helping deliver an adopted puppy to its new home--such a sweet moment! And as I was checking out, I learned they offer same-day delivery, which is so convenient. I haven't placed an order yet, but it's good to know that option exists. They have me hooked! Several friends has mentioned this place as a local business with great sustainable pet food options so I finally decided to check it out when looking for a new dog food. Ample parking as it's in a strip mall, the space is big and they have tons of great brands for food, toys, and other pet supplies. The staff is really what made it. They were super helpful in deciding on a dry food to try but that will get my pup enough nutrients and helped calculate how many cups of food is in the bag I went with to see what avg cost would be. I purchased a new gluten free dog food called First Mate last month. The cashier said she created an account for me even though I declined to pay for a membership. She said no receipt would be necessary in case one of my doggos had an adverse reaction as my transaction history would be in the system. Unfortunately, after a month one of my doggos continued to vomit from First Mate. I tried to activate my account online but it was nowhere to be found. I emailed their howdy customer support and she created a new account for me and said she would make an exception for my return. They have great customer service! Additionally, there is NO minimum purchase for local delivery to ALL zip codes. Now that P & F and Healthy Pet require a $49 minimum purchase to my zip code, I will be switching to Tomlinson's. read more

5 stars all the way ! Incredibly inviting and helpful team of fur friend lovers. Right away it is apparent that you and your animal are in good hands. My fur baby, Ozzy, had a teeth cleaning appointment today and it went off without a hitch .. well almost. He did shimmy his way out of his collar when it was his turn to head back, but he didn't get to far. He's a bit of a mommas boy so he came right back to me . The staff was understanding and helpful and he was really well taken care of. The teeth cleaning is an alternative to anesthesia dental appointments at a vets office and for Ozzys needs, this was a great option and way more attractive price point. It was a fraction of the cost of the vet. When we arrived there was a vet to present to do a quick checkup and make sure all was ok to proceed with his teeth cleaning and the vet answered all questions and showed me the best technique to clean his teeth on my own 2 times a week ( my current method has not been successful). The appointment took about 30 min total , 15 of which he was in the back for the appt. I would recommend this anyone looking to take care of the pups dental needs. You can tell they were all knowledgeable ..next time I went with a million questions Sage helped and helped me better understand crate training and now my pup looks at it as her little room rather then fear it. I love Tomlinson's! All of the staff at both locations I've been to (used to go to the Circle C location -don't hate! I'm not that bougie! It was off Mopac on my drive home! I accidentally wound up rescuing a cat (long story) and my cat lover friend insisted on a protein heavy diet for he who is now known as Marvin the Spoon. They also have an on-going get 1 lb. of free dog treats when you check in on Yelp, which I use and give to my friends who have dogs = free advertising and good karma for Tomlinson's! I am thrilled to know how Tomlinson's really cares about pets. One positive note is the products they carry made by pet people. I always buy treats that are of organic nature for my pet and a love all the variety of kiwi kitchens a wonderful brand I love. Nulo is another brand besides Fromm a four star nutritionals perfect and my dog loves it. Bird food is also a high brand of food for wild and pet birds. Highly recommend any type of food sold here especially the chicken organic treats no added presevatives but completely natural. I do travel and need calming aids for my dog and works very well indeed even homeopathic products available. The leashes are the newest type of comfort and easy for any pet. Tomlinson's always has great choices for my pets needs. If I seek anything I find it here....other pet stores have treats made in different countries that can harm your pet so I always read the labels of what is in the product I buy for my pet. My wife likes to joke that I'm not allowed to come here to "pick up some cat food" anymore, because I always come home with toys and treats and the desire to adopt all the kittens that I petted, but I can't help it, they have great products and the cutest cats and dogs ready to be adopted! Last year, they were so great helping us find the right food for our rescue cat, who was refusing to eat anything we tried to give him and was rapidly losing weight. With their suggestions and return policy (they took back the foods he didn't like) we were able to find a solution that worked and he's now a very eager eater! All the employees are extremely friendly and very helpful with any concerns or needs we have and all their products are of the best quality a pet store could offer! Recently we just got a new puppy is pretty young and being nervous about it we stopped in and was helped by Theresa and other employees (I apologize for not remembering your names). Theresa was very knowledgeable on what we needed to purchase for our pup and what we needed to do at home for him. Thank you so much, it really helped ease our nervousness! I recently adopted a new pup from AAC. He's half pittie/half Tazmanian Devil. No, seriously, he tears through everything with a vengeance! When he set his sights on my baseboards I knew it was time to invest in some serious chew toys. My coworker suggested I buy him a goat horn from Tomlinson's. Her sweet Boston Terrier has had hers since she was a puppy so they're super durable. To Tomlinson's I went. I found the goat horn and a few other chewies for Taz, I mean Tonka, thanks to the helpful staff. When they asked if there was anything else they could help me with I mentioned that I needed to find a new dog food for my pup (he was still eating the less than good food that came home with him from his foster mom). I had my eyes set on Wellness because it's what I've fed my other dog for five years. But they recommended Fromm's (and it was cheaper!), so tell me more. Apparently Fromm's has been in the dog food business for 100 years and has never had one recall - EVER. Say no more, Sold! I signed up for their rewards program that saves you 10% on any bag of food. That savings along paid for the $7 annual membership. When the young man at the counter offered to carry the heavy 33lb bag of food out of my car I felt suddenly transported to the 50's and renamed myself June Cleaver. Not really, but two thumbs up for the BEST customer service I've had in a long time and from a local company to boot! I walked in with my skittish retriever only to be met by barking dogs and absolutely no help from the store help trying to buy the food and treats. That I was in the store for . Why is good customer service such a rare commodity ? Saving grace was the cashier who checked me out offered to carry my purchased goods to my car- for that thank you. I really really want to support a local small business but the service and selection just doesn't warrant it. Both times I have been to this location, the staff barely acknowledges you. Today there four, count 'em, four employees eating cake at the cash register. I walked past them and looked and looked for a squeaky toy for my dog. I was there for 15 minutes, not one of them acknowledged me or offered to help. I bought a doggie life jacket the other day from Tomlinsons. It seems a little flimsy. I found a much sturdier one at Hill Country Running Company (see my review) and returned the Tomlinsons one. They did take it back without any problems. So that was a positive. For the basics (toys, wipes, waste bags), go to Petco on Brodie instead. For natural food, clothes, leashes, etc, go to the Lofty Dog or Furr Factor. read more

For dogs and cats, Tomlinson's carries all the really high end stuff -- like Solid Gold, Wellness, etc. They also carry the good/decent stuff made by Diamond that won't break your bank account. They even carry Science Diet for those who want that crap, but they will tell you exactly whats in it and why its not considered a good food by the dog nutrition journals. Some vets still recommend it, though, which drives me nuts. Digressing.....Sigh. I wish they would teach real nutrition in vet school rather than have proctor and gamble/Science Diet come in to give presentations in disguise as nutrition lessons that only tell the students: "Tell your clients to feed our food!" along with free backpacks and goodies for all the vet students. (I have a friend in vet school right now. She is sickened by it and won't take their products. Its like the pharmacuetical industry with doctors.) But back to this review..... At Tomlinson's, the variety is really pretty amazing. They also have a "pet club" which will save you a pretty penny for just joining for $5 a year. For me, with my 260 pounds of canine and my 30 pounds of feline, they have just become my go-to store as the discount more than paid for my membership in just my first visit. They are very nice and knowledgeble and will try to find just the right thing for you. I shop local when I can and this place beats out Amazon in every way. The prices and selection are on par with that of the online retail giant, so I get most of my pet supplies here. I'm tiny) I prefer this location to the others, because the parking is ample, it's right beside a target and a liquor store, so I can get all my errands done at once, and the staff is incredibly friendly. My dog is allergic to many things, so he's on a special vet prescription-based​ diet, but these treats don't bother him at all - he loves the blueberry, pumpkin, and peanut butter ones. Tomlinson's saves me a mint in treats at only a few bucks per pound versus​ buying his old favorite brand at $14+ per small box! Bought a cool toy in there the other day too and the person helping me said it was guaranteed​ for life - best dog toy ever in my opinion​! I really love this little pet store. Every time I check in on Yelp, I get a FREE pound of bulk dog treats! NOBODY can beat that deal. The staff is friendly and helpful and they carry the highest quality dog food products. I am able to purchase Origins, a grain-free, high quality food as well as treats that are made without corn and grain. I have a "special" pet with medical issues and I am able to completely spoil her with goodness from things from this store. She even can go in an pick out the chews she wants! Their bulk bone section is a personal favorite of hers. They have a decent selection of bird cage toys and nice dog leashes and collars as well (even hemp options). Something else I love: I can donate a bag of dogwood each time I go in there and they rotate which local charity in the community they give the food to. That means they have more inventory to choose from, so I managed to pick up everything I needed without wishing I'd been there a day earlier. If you haven't been yet, they have an excellent selection of grain-free kibble for dogs, treats, toys, beds, vitamins, and all the other stuff you know you buy for your fur babies. There's a whole section for cats, as well. If you plan to buy your dog or cat food here, it's probably worth getting the membership for the discount. $7.50 a year and you get 10 percent off each food purchase. You also get on their mailing list for their monthly specials, which sometimes include coupons for free stuff. Tomlinson's is a local business that supports local pet rescue organizations. They occasionally have adoption events on site. Their prices are very close or comparable to the big-box retailers, and you get great personal service, so they're definitely worth a visit. I prefer to feed grain free super premium all stages but my girl snubs her nose at Taste of the Wild and Natures Domain. I would love to feed all my dogs Orijen Regional Fish Formula but at 80.00 a bag that is feeding my dogs better than myself... All my friends kept recommending Wellness and while it is a mid priced dog food I was not very impressed with the ingredients and my dog was not crazy about it either.... That is when I remembered how much my dog loved Premium Edge Salmon Formula that I was buying at a feed store in Dripping Springs. I called around and this location is the only Tomlinson's that sells it at the same price and much closer than driving out to the Feed Station! With our 5.00 10% off membership a 35LB bag was only 39.95 and half the price what I was paying for Orijen. I've been going to Tomlinson's for about 3 years and I have loved Tomlinson's for 3 years! I have changed my pets' diets for whatever reason or another and every-time I need advice on a brand to suit their needs I have always gotten great help from their staff. I have 2 big dogs and 5 cats so I buy a ton of pet food. I basically work just so I can afford my pets' food (that's how much food my gang eats). Anyway, Tomlinson's has a great selection of quality food and a knowledgeable staff too. This location is not a huge store but they still stock all the products I need and have grown to love. I even asked if they carried a specific dog training tool and a few weeks later when I went back in they had it in stock! I'm not sure if anyone else asked for the same product but it made me feel like they listened to my needs and wanted to make me happy. I like stores that make me happy! They have the best hand picked supply of quality pet products--- many being green/eco friendly. Their food may be slightly more expensive than the run-of-the-mill pet stores, but if you sign up for their $7.50 membership you get 10% off pet food--- nearly paying for itself with one purchase. Another huge reason I love to shop there is the staff. Each of them seem well-versed in their knowledge about pets and their products and are happy to help if you have a question. I learn something every time I go! Also, they have pet ID tags for roughly $10 a piece; they are stainless steel and in many shapes/colors and they will customize it for you.
