I can't scream my love for Prime Pet loud enough. No seriously, I can't, my neighbors are over me screaming, "I LOVE PRIME PET!" in my backyard. It's like a thing now. Anyhoo, I love them. 1) They're just so darn caring. We met them yeeeeears ago when we lived across the street from their OG location. They were always SO warm and welcoming when we walked in and so helpful finding our baby Jake the right kind of food. 2) Speaking of, they carry the BEST food, treats, toys and bath products for our now two dogs! Psst... they have cat stuff too. 3) Did I mention they are so darned caring? We just went to visit their new spot located right next door to the best vet ever - Paz. Our new rescue dog has been eating grass and apparently not getting enough nutrients so after visiting Paz, we went next door to get some recos from our trusted friends at Prime Pet. Of course, they knew what to send us home with. We picked up some new grub, the boys picked out a couple of treats that smelled good to them (ahem, it all smelled good to them) and we also picked up an adorable squeaky toy that resembles mama's favorite treat - a bottle of Tito's Vodka. ;) I highly recommend making Prime Pet your go-to for pet supplies. If they don't have something you want, let them know! They're also taking all the precautions during COVID so you can be sure you feel safe when shopping. East Austin has a paucity of high quality pet supply stores. Or rather, a paucity of pet supply stores period. I was very excited when I heard that Prime Pet opened in my neighborhood!!! Prime Pet is located on East 6th Street, just East of Pedernales, not far from the 7th Street HEB. It's a bit difficult to see if you're driving by. You'll see the lettering painted on the side of the building. I hope they put up a sign to make it more visible. Their motto is "QUALITY + NATURAL + HEALTHY PET FOOD + SUPPLIES" which they indeed offer at a great price! I typically buy my dogs Fromm's and they offer a nice variety, as well as other high quality pet food brands. The great thing is that they keep track of your purchases for frequent buyer programs, and will even mail in your proofs of purchase to the brand for free food. This blew my mind! The owner was super nice during my visit and told me that if they do not carry a particular brand that I like, to let him know and they will consider stocking it. Prime pet is a super cool pet store located on the east side. If you're looking for high-end dog food, treats, and toys this is the place to go. Think of whole foods for your pet but in a super east side boutique retail space. The owner knows his stuff, and I often stop in with my dog just to chat. My favorite thing to buy my dog are the crazy legit duck feet & duck wing treats, and my dog loves them. I also buy all my dry food from Prime Pet a huge bag of FROMM pet food. I absolutely love this little east side shop and was super disappointed to hear during my last visit that they're losing their lease. They carry the Fromm I feed my cats and my dog, I love their rewards program, and the Owner has always provided excellent customer service. I was shocked when he knew me by name after only 2 visits. I should've written this review a long time ago. We've been shopping here for over a year, and I can't rave enough about the owner, Burton. He is so dang friendly, cares a lot about the products in his store (and will explain why certain things are good or bad, but without any judgement), and is always giving out samples of things and giving the dogs treats. We switched our dog's food based on his recommendations, and will continue to shop here for as long as we live in the neighborhood! I can't say enough wonderful things about Prime Pet and the gentleman, Burton, who owns it. When we first got our puppy last Christmas, the first place we came to was Prime Pet. Burton recommended tricky trainer treats to get us started with the training process and they are MAGIC. She is 5 months old now, and we continue to buy the treats he recommended for her. because, as he predicted, she loves them and will do anything for them. We recently came in for a new toy and bone recommendations for her. Burton recommended a bone that I cannot remember the name of, but she loves this also! It keeps her occupied and distracted while we get things done around the house, but it isn't splinting or coming apart (he said this was the best kind for her). This is awesome, because we don't have to worry about her choking or swallowing a sharp piece. All this aside, we will continue to come back for Burton alone. He is always so wonderful when I come in and he even gave some non-dog subject recommendations when I told him about our big vacation trip to Rome. Overall, just a cool and good guy.
