This spot isn't that big inside but well organized. I came in and was greeted and helped by the worker behind the counter who was very helpful and insightful of items I was looking for. Come to find out he was the owner. This place carries products that when you got to those petsmarts, natural pawz, your looking for those items you just cant find there, but it seems that Great Outdogs has them. They've got great selection of squeaky toys, LED collars, and balls at night. Floating vests for dogs, and functional leashes that don't tangle or twist. The shop boxer was the SWEETEST and most chilled out good boy I've ever been greeted by! The customer service reminded me of those good ole conversational days we all used to live in. A loose in tact boxer was free roaming the store and got protective of my fiancé with our own dog...the boxer showed his teeth and our dog started barking. The team member behind the counter did not even acknowledge the situation and did not even greet us when we were there. He was talking to a lady at the counter but could not politely stop the conversation to just simply greet us. Very unprofessional. We were looking to buy a nice lead but the situation left us to walk away empty handed. It was our first and we are willing to try again in a couple of months. Hopefully the situation will be better. Kind of overpriced pet shop. A lot of the items they sold were regular items you could find online or at a larger retail chain, just a huge price tag. I'm all for local businesses and shopping small, but don't sell regular items for way more expensive, sell something different and unique! And if you sell the regular stuff, don't jack up the price just because you're a mom and pop. They did have a great selection of chewy sticks and most of seemed like it was from America which is important when buying chewy sticks for your pups! They had a great selection that might seem gross to us, but delicious to dogs! Trachea anyone?? I would go here for their chewy and treat selection, especially if you want healthier options for treating your dog, but don't go here for materials i.e. leashes, collars, bowls, etc. just a bit too pricey, and you can find the same or similar for much cheaper elsewhere. read more

First impression is always important and this place failed. Two signs on their front door immediately set a tone. One about the public restrooms and how one shouldn't even ask and two about how the place isn't kid friendly (ask the previous family and kids why this is in place) Word of advice. For dog owners downtown, who might actually have to drive to one of those big stores with "Pet" in the name; or happen to find themselves downtown or in the 04, in need of a dog collar made from a recycled bicycle tube or some sweet potato treats from Healthy Hound, you need look no further. How smart is this? I stumbled upon them during a town lake walk with my two furkids in tow. It's a mobile dog store and you can find it right smack next to the off-leash dog park at Auditorium Shores. They cater to people who have dogs with an outdoor lifestyle "outdogs" - and have smartly brought the convenience of buying those right to where those dog owners are playing with their dogs. They have life sized dog stuffed animals placed around the outside wearing various harnesses, life jackets and collars to greet you. As you walk closer, there are racks of toys and accessories for your dogs. They frame the way into the back of the truck which is a moving truck ramp cleverly decorated with big yellow paw prints and the words "come inside" peppered along the way. There is a "wipe your paws" mat at the base. Once inside, there are more and more dog accessories, gadgets, dog treats, and items to keep your dog healthy, oh my! The guy working there was cool, friendly, and attentive to my dogs. This particular day, I had the minimal $5 and a drivers license on me, as I was walking and not expecting to shop. We love Austin's first mobile pet store! I don't know how Matt does it but he carries pretty much every pet accessory or toy you could possibly be looking for inside a freakin mobile truck! Wish I had of taken more inside picks but the walls and ceiling are filled with leashes and collars and toys and treats and bowls and backpacks.... All very focused on the outdoors - get it OutDogs:) Today he was scheduled to be at Auditorium Shores at 8 AM and we were there waiting for him and Dot was proud to be his first customer of the day or in the way while he set up:) see pics... I was specifically looking for a hiking backpack for my 80Lb 7 year old puppy who is a bottomless pit of energy. I got the idea that weighting her down on hikes or daily walks would give her a job and tire her out faster. Matt had exactly what I was looking for a doggie back pack/halter with removable packs for rest stops or dips in the creek/lake. This store catches your eye as you drive by wowza! It is unique & quirky. There are like dog statues outside & zany bright colors. Our foster dog is headed to Washington :( so I wanted to buy him things to have. We have been looking for a dog travel backpack. The gentleman at the counter gave me one free after asking as I did not see any! He was so kind & sweet. I was very grateful. They have tons of the good grainfree pure dog foods and none of the bad cheap brands. I bought a couple of canned goods, toy, and a water dish that props up. Plus you get to pet the big doggo there who lounges around lol! What's not to love. Austin is a wonderful place for dog lovers and I will be telling everyone about this store! read more

They're also open a little later than most other pet stores in the area, so it's really helpful for my schedule to be able to go in the evening to get some doggy goods. I can't recommend this place enough. I've never been one for boutique pet stores and would roll my eyes at such, but this place has totally changed my perspective. Our lab/shepherd has a number of dietary and skin issues and requires a little extra care beyond the grocery store food. Any time something crops up, Matt has a great suggestion....and it usually works! The service is unmatchable....recently we stopped in and the food we normally buy was out of stock....instead of trying to push us to the jumbo size bag or a different brand, Matt loaded us up with free samples to last till the next shipment came in. He is lovely with our dog, always giving treats and striking up conversation with her owners. Definitely the way a small business should be ran. There is a great selection, but when it comes time to purchase it can be difficult to locate the owner/cashier....there's a leak he is repairing, he's restocking, etc. Once there was a bell to ring, but that only roused the curiosity of the adorable dog, not a person. This place is right by my job, it is super overpriced but they have a good selection of everything for your pampered pooch. I used to get the frozen goat milk here and my dogs would slurp it up like it was their last meal. I have a dog that has a ball fetish, I think it is a mental disorder...she goes through them with a quickness that I have never seen, this is the only place that sells balls that can hold up to her obsessive chewing and need to have a ball in her mouth 24/7. read more
