This was a fun experience. It's a pet shop with mostly exotic snakes, lizards, frogs, geckos, and more. They have a couple of birds too. We explored all of the tanks learning about some creatures I'd never even heard of before. The shop is extremely clean and spacious. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. I think if these are the types of pets for you, it's a really sound place to make a purchase. In addition, they sell food and accessories as any typical pet store would. All the cages are way too small. I saw an amazon parrot in a very small cage with poop all over the floor. many of the bird cages have little to no toys. In the reptile area, I saw multiple snakes in the same cages. This is very bad and can stress the snakes out. The setups aren't good. They are just large enough to fit the animals. Reptiles need to feel a little bit crowded to feel safe, but they only have a water bowl, one hide, and sometimes plants. Birds are very smart and need to be constantly entertained with lots of toys. Snakes shouldn't be cohabitated. You need to clean their water and enclosures often. read more

I finally went here for the first time and I'm so glad that I did. They have a decent selection of items and their selection of wood is amazing. They had some healthy looking animals and had more than just the typical ball python and bearded dragon. It was also nice to see the staff trying to educate their customers with good information and trying to better their current husbandry. This place is great and much better than the other "exotic pet store." It's a clean and enjoyable environment. I will keep coming here to get supplies for my Northern blue tongue skink. Absolutely love coming here. I try to avoid it on the weekends because there's definitely a lot of people and it can get a little busy with only one register (but that's just because I'm usually popping in for one or two things). The people here are why I come back and prefer to shop with them rather than online-- they're very passionate about their animals and knowledgeable, so there's always someone there who can help you with whatever you need. Smaller businesses like this run by experienced, passionate people are what we need to support because you can always come by and ask for solid advice (which sometimes, you need!) and you can't get that from an Amazon purchase or other big box pet stores. read more

Pretty disappointing for a pet store. Not even close to clean and the cages were really dirty. People working there didn't have much knowledge about the birds anyway. Although they carry a lot of different types of animals, birds, reptiles, ferrets, gerbils and fish, there's no excuse in my mind for a pet store to be this dirty. Maybe it would be hard to keep immaculate, but this place wasn't even close to clean. Then fact that so many of the staff knew nothing about the animals doesn't bode well for this to be a good place to get a pet. I won't be going back. read more

I've been coming to this place for all my exotic critter needs for years! The owner and staff are knowledgeable and absolute sweethearts! They always have a wide range of well cared for critters, feeders, and supplies from start up to bio active. On a personal note, they have my heart because they have housed critters for people in hard times, helped rehome exotics, and during the freeze, they took in every reptile they could since they still had working power. Every time I walk in, even for a quick trip, I have to go say hi to my favorite Tegu, chat with the birds, pet the bunnies, check out the new plants, and laugh with the staff. read more

I tend to be biased when it comes to pet stores, but when you own certain animals these stores are necessary. Now that that's out of the way I do I will say this shop is as humane as it gets. The employees are always very cheerful and helpful. On top of that all the animals appear to be well kept after with clean habitats and fresh bowls of food and water. Its always a new experience when visiting the store with new animals and other cool creatures. Everyone working is informative on the animals they have so you can tell they care and its not just some animal mill. Don't forget to check out the sloth when visiting. This place is amazing! Dave is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. My turtle will definitely have the best life now with all the tips he gave me today! I recently rescued a tiny baby musk turtle, and I knew nothing about how to care for turtles. I've done lots of google research, but its best to get advice from the professionals. Dave taught me so much and helped me find all the right products I need to care for this baby the right way. Zookeeper is an interesting pet store. They pernamently have a sloth, who is always sleeping, and a huge boa. Truthfully I come to Zookeeper if I want to look at exotic animals. The workers must have caught on because they usually just ignore you or give you a sullen attitude. Zookeeper holds a variety of exotic animals for captive breeding that are not available for sale. At one point I saw a rare blue mini moniter lizard and a red-eyed green tree frog. Both looked pretty miserable, and their enclosures were too small for their needs. Notice how they had a lizard and amphibian? You would best go to Zookeeper if you want a scaly or slimy friend to keep you company at home. They sell a surprising amount of lizards and amphibians, but their parrots look miserable. Once again the parrots are in a cage that is too tiny for them. Not only that, but they are given a smooth wooden stick as their perch. Smooth branches may be a delight for us humans, but it isn't for parrots. The parrots end up not developing feet and leg muscles like they would have if they perched on a branch that was textured and somewhat challenging to hold. As a result, the parrot will have a hard time retaining their grasp on something with their feet later on in life. That's important for them since their natural behavior also includes climbing. If you want a parrot, please adopt. Zookeeper doesn't sell quality birds that are healthy and socialized with humans. read more

Disgusting conditions for their small animals. I would not feel comfortable giving this business any money. They have multiple hamsters in one cage which can lead to them fighting and killing each other. They have full carrots in the rabbit cage which can lead to GI stasis and can kill the rabbits. Their cages are incredibly small and bare for small animals and seem to be pretty dirty. read more

Wide selection of Tarantulas! Not very many snakes to buy from but you can look at the ones not for sale. They had garbles and chinchillas which I have never seen in a reptile shop before so they were Pretty cool to look at. Not super hard to find, but it could look more alive on the outside. The inside was a lot bigger then I thought it was, tons of parking. Staff was very friendly and seemed to have a passion for what they do. Not to be rude but it could use a little effort in cleaning up on the inside. I have seen much much worse but it really could be a kickass shop. I am willing to make the drive to either Temple or Kyle to find the next closest reptile stores purely bc I refuse to support these guys. I always expect animals in pet stores to be in small/display style enclosures that may or may not be well suited to the animals bc theoretically they won't be there very long, but this store also has a roughly 4 foot long argentine blue tegu named Clyde who is not for sale and simply lives there. His enclosure is just barely large enough for him to stretch his body length in any direction. This alone is blatant abuse of a very large lizard. Recently they've also had an infestation of snake mites which, were not taken seriously enough until they had infested every single snake in the store. Furthermore when I recently purchased a snake from them, I paid up front to put the snake on a hold until they finished treating the mite problem. So when I returned in two weeks to pick up my animal that was supposed to be healthy, they told me that they had inspected him, and that he was free of mites and was perfectly healthy. He was stressed from being put in a bag so I didn't inspect him at the store, however when I got home and let him go into his new enclosure, I immediately spotted mites on him. He obviously had multiple mites on his neck. Rather than calling them, I had enough and decided I was going to simply take care of it myself as clearly they weren't able to do it and I didn't trust their word anymore. I've returned to the store once since as no ody else that I'm aware of carries isopods and I needed some that same day and when I was there I noticed that they were selling both a Savanah monitor and a nile monitor for $80 each. For those that are unaware, both of these animals are almost certainly wild caught, imports which brings up an ethical concern in itself. Savanah monitors are extremely difficult to give proper care if its even possible to do so in capgivity and they are quite large and therefore pretty dangerous as far as nonvenoums reptiles go, so i have even more ethical concerns regarding the sale of savanah monitors generally, but what really did it was the nile monitor. These lizards are impossible to give proper husbandry without a setup costing upwards of $30,000. They are semiaquatic, giant lizards that need very high heat and instense lighting that also has to be lizard proofed so the animal cant get into the bulbs and burn themselves. They need basically a full sized swimming pool with dechlorinated water and a huge filtration system, and they need an enclosure the size of a large back yard. These lizards are also huge, getging between 6 and 7 feet long with a powerful tail, huge sharp claws, and a nasty bite. They are also exteemely difficult to socialize and many will never be friendly to people. The only redeming quality of these animals as pets is that it would be difficult for one to kill and reasonable fit adult. Note that i said difficult amd not impossible or even particularly unlikely.​ even so, they could easily and almost certainly will hospitalize you at least a couple times during their life. These animals simply can not be kept by the average person. It's just not possible, normal people lack the time, space, and resources to ethically care for a nile monitor, so the sale of these animals to the general public is possibly the most irresponsible thing a pet store could possibly do, and at $80 it was one of if not the cheapest animal in the store. TLDR. They do not properly care for the animals who live there permanently, they lied about the health of the snake i ourchased from them, and they sell lizards that could kill an average 12 year old for less than $100​ read more
