This review is only for the grooming service. I'm throwing them an extra start because their online scheduling is really convenient and their prices are quite reasonable for the market. I got a full service groom, bath and haircut. My long haired Dachshund has been groomed many, many times in her 14-year life so far and this was by far the worst haircut she ever got! Like even worse than the time her grandma (my mom) took the kitchen shears to her. There were choppy, jagged cuts everywhere. Oh I also don't like that they ask you about tipping before you even see your dog! They hand you the invoice, make you go pay at the front registers (where they ask you if you want to add tip), then you bring your receipt back to the grooming department at which time they go in the back to get your dog. This place was recommended by a neighbor, and when I followed up and told them what happened they said they go to the Buda location. I might give one more try at that location but I'm nervous now! read more

Grooming appt at Pet Supplies Plus South Austin: I had my grooming appt cancelled by Adam (mgr) at Pet Supplies Supplies on wm cn & manchaca because I made a comment that my pup I've had since Oct had no fleas & did not need flea medication. I was asked to leave. I was distraught & overcome with emotion. Fortunately I called Petco which was close by on Brodie Lane and they were more than happy to take me in & take care of my pup no questions asked. Petco has a new loyal customer. Shame that I have been going to Pet Supplies since October and they have lost one. TJ (mgr) is AWESOME. He Truly does care for his customers and their pets. And not the money they bring in. I was greeted by friendly staff members. Manny was helpful in assisting me find what I was looking for. The staff members are very approachable! Another excellent staff member allowed me to watch closely as he knowledgeably talked about the various species and fed the reptiles live insects. Very friendly staff and well thought out store design. We took our Girl Scouts troop here to find $100 worth of items to donate to the Austin Pets Alive (APA) organization from the funds they raised through selling cookies. For a while they had an amazing chameleon that was fun for the kids to visit, and now they have two ferrets. There is a dog grooming section. Good to know since the Dirty Dogs bath house in that same parking lot closed down. The items can be found less expensive online but their prices are no more than Petsmart or Tomlinsons or any other in person pet shop. We've brought both our dog and our cat inside and it was fun and easy. They do have fish as well, in the back row. read more

Wow the lack of customer service is just unforgivable. I went there with my pup to use the self bathing service. I told the girl at the counter that I had just lost my companion dog of 14 years and my dog Kye and were looking for a new leash and collar before our bath. Adam one of the owners kicked me out of the store because back packs were not allowed even if it contained our special shampoo for as albino dog with multiple skin issues and also a bit of Lun'a ashes for comfort. So I gave them a second chance when I was setting g up my gold fish tank. I purchased 12 fish from them and less than 24 hours later half were dead. I went back to the store and Adam required corpses of the expired fish. GO RO PETCO. sorry local business but I told my story to Petco. They offered me new fish and a 30 day guarantee no corpse required. I support local businesses not local shady operations DONT spend your time or money with pet supplies plus. Tell Adam I sent ya. And as far as his response. Wow all about him and nothing regarding humanity or community. And Adam tell us again about how you require corpses for your replacement policy. I was told 24 hours, had to take a day off work. And you made me purchase a net to retrieve the corpses. Then when I brought corpses back your comment was "oh sorry I forgot to tell you that when you were here earlier". Or maybe you forgot that because you were out back smoking a cigarette. I normally shop at the Pet Supplies Plus on William Cannon, where I've always had good experiences, so when I received an email offering 40% off, I decided to visit this location to take advantage of the deal. I brought my dog along, hoping to make a quick and easy trip since the promotion was set to end today. When I got to the register, the cashier told me they couldn't honor my coupon because they are a "franchise location." I asked for clarification, but no one could give me a clear or consistent explanation. I completely understand that different stores may have different policies, but if that's the case, it should be clearly stated on the coupon or in the promotional email. After being turned away at the counter, I tried placing my order online using the exact same coupon, and it went through without any issue. When I went back inside to pick it up, I was told again that they "couldn't accept it" and that I'd need to drive to Buda if I wanted to redeem it. That's nearly a 45-minute drive from my apartment, and as a college student, that's simply not realistic. What's most frustrating is that there was no attempt to offer an alternative solution -- not even a partial discount or a simple acknowledgment of the inconvenience. I left feeling extremely disappointed, especially after taking the time to visit in person for what was supposed to be a positive shopping experience for me and my dog. He went in to purchase two bags of Science Diet dog food and was met with hostility and refusal of service by the store manager/owner-operator. He denied the use of our rewards points with a valid coupon--something that has never been an issue at the Kyle location, Dallas location, Southern California--and when we tried to clarify, he became unprofessional and flat-out refused to complete the sale. It was clear he had no interest in resolving the issue or taking accountability. We've been loyal customers who regularly use the grooming services, self-service dog wash, and purchase food and supplies here. But after this experience and seeing the number of similar 1-star reviews, it's clear this is not an isolated incident. We brought our 2 large dogs in (one at a time) to use the self serve wash stand. It was absolutely the BEST experience! Everything was well stocked, with plenty of towels and shampoo! While we thoroughly brushed them before bringing for the wash, plenty of shedding went on. Long story short, the staff appeared toward the end of the wash and told us they would clean the space up! So friendly, willing to help and the store is always clean and easy to shop in! We are very lucky to have such a great store right here in South Austin! The staff here is always friendly, helpful, and informative. You can get a card of 4 dog washes for $32 (really good deal!) and they include shampoos, conditioners, towels, aprons to keep YOU from getting an unnecessary bath with your pooch, a blow dryer hose (I do wish that it was warm - please do fix that!) and everything you'd need to walk out with a super clean dog. While they don't have prescription food in the store, it is available for order and shipping on their website. The food, treats, toys and more variety is great! The shop is never super busy and you can always find someone happy to help you if needed - which seems to be lacking in other big box pet stores. This particular store is right around the corner from my house. We were so excited to see it open and I have to admit that I am SUPER excited that everyone is so friendly, so helpful and so informative. You really do feel like they're happy to see you and very happy to help. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. The manager of this store would not let my husband pick up an order even though I put in there that he would be the one picking it up. They claimed that he had to have my credit card in hand, even though I already paid for the order online. Why would my husband carry my credit card? It is illegal to use someone else's credit card. On top of that, all it said online when I placed the order was he needed his own I.D. Terrible company. They have also cheated me out of discounts in the past and claimed it was due to their computer and the corporate store. Never shopping here again. You just lost a customer for good. read more

I scheduled an appointment for my grandmothers senior dog, with bladder cancer, a grooming appointment. The day of the appointment I arrived to find the store was closed due to plumbing issues as told by a young man who greeted us at the door. I understand no problem. I come in two days after to reschedule in person to discuss Misui and there is one young woman up front with NO customers in the store I ask if I can reschedule my grooming appointment and was told Daniel wasn't there and she was going to ask the manager to help me. She returned from the back telling me the manager was too busy and gave me a piece of paper with information so that I can book my own appointment online. Hmmm a manager is too busy to talk to a customer on the floor? but yeah, ok, I'll book my own appointment online. The next available appointment wasn't until the following Monday, which is annoying given I scheduled an appointment, didn't get a call that my appointment was cancelled, show up, turned away due to unforeseen circumstances, came back to the store turned away again with tools to schedule it myself, but next available isn't until the next Monday. I arrive and am told because she has spotting due to the bladder tumor they won't be able to treat her. Fine but mother phuker you better have that disclosure online if it's my job to book because you're "too busy" when I came into the store with NO other customers! The owner had all kinds of excuses and "sorry"s but ultimately wanted to just defend what he believed his position was... which I'm not sure what it is except excuses. Then I used the F word and he said if I'm going to cuss I'd have to leave so I said I won't cuss but it ends up he can't handle someone being pissed about his dropped balls as a business owner and how that affects my time and life. Why not listen to the situation in full and say "im sorry that my business put you through that ringer is like to do a little something to make it up for yo and you know that's good advice to list contraindications on my site if I'm going to make people schedule their own appointments, here a bag of dog treats" problem solved even if I can't get her groomed here, you'd have my business instead of a box store but NO the owner is to arrogant to figure that out. read more

So happy to cancel our Amazon subscription for our dog food. We signed up for the subscription service through PSP which came with a significant first time order discount, and recurring 5% discount on all future orders for this subscription. They do ask you to tip the drivers, which we were happy to do since it is a service they are providing, and we'd rather keep the money in our local economy. All in all, this came in at the same cost as Amazon, but we're much happier supporting local. We ordered today around 1pm, and the expected delivery was for 2 days from now. To our happy surprise, the delivery came only a few hours after ordering! It also came with a handwritten note and beef stick for our dog. So glad we found PSP! Now to cross our fingers that they add our cats' brand of food (Nulo limited ingredient diet). read more
