This cute cafe did not disappoint! We were quickly seated after arriving and brought a large bottle of water with two cups. I love when restaurants let you pour your own water because then you don't have to wait for refills. After much deliberation, I picked the chicken pesto panini with a side of greens. Nevertheless, the breakfast menu looked delicious, and I was disappointed that they didn't serve breakfast all day. My panini came surprisingly fast, and I eagerly started on it. I often find that chicken pesto paninis have a tendency to be overloaded with chicken or pesto- but this sandwich had a moderate amount of both without overpowering the sandwich. My only complaint would be that my side dish of greens was merely plain lettuce. I thought that a dressing or greater variety with maybe some cherry tomatoes would be present. I would definitely come back for the panini sandwich again- but would swap out chips for the boring lettuce side. read more

Wonderful atmosphere, service and food. I love that the patio is dog-friendly, and they brought a bowl of water out for our pup. The tall glass bottles of chilled water was a nice touch. The sausage and squash hash is outstanding! read more

A great experience all ways round. The service was friendly, atmosphere was charming and most importantly the food was fantastic. The grilled cheese sandwich I had was out of this world and my partner was very impressed with their signature tomato pie. Their house lemon vinaigrette dressing was very refreshing. As others have posted, it is a cute place. Iced latte was really good. Salmon just ok. Needed more spice/flavor. Was bland. Salad made it better. Service was frustratingly slow. Tomato pie is very unique and delicious, but it really tastes more like cheese and pie crust than tomato, which is probably a good thing. Staff was courteous and accommodating. Food was good. A true gem by the road! If you have trouble finding good coffee on this side of the Atlantic, this place will not disappoint you - their espresso alone is worth five stars. However, this cafe also has a real authentic, quirky character, attentive staff and great food! The signature tomato pie was delicious, and make sure you try their 'raw cappuccino'. I ordered the signature menu item and enjoyed it immensely. My husband ordered a Panini sandwich and was pleased, although not overly. The apple dumpling dessert was to-die-for. Overall, I would come back for the food. The decor is charming, the menus urban. Very nice. The staff was professional, helpful and proficient. The downside to this cafe is the long wait, (I'd have to really want another piece of tomato pie to endure the thirty-minute wait again) and the cramped seating. Fortunately, we had just finished eating when a man at a neighboring table sneezed. Rather than sneeze into his own plate, he turned his head in our direction and both my husband and myself felt the spray from his sneeze. My husband became angry and couldn't get out of there fast enough, I became disgusted. Although one ignorant man's actions shouldn't reflect on the cafe as whole, if it wasn't so cramped, I wouldn't have worn his sneeze. 5 girls on a "girls" weekend! Fabulous meal. Very busy, but the service was very good, and, the food was fabulous. Our waitress was very pleasant, and able to explain the menu and answer questions. This place is OK. But not awesome. I think the main reason locals love it so much is due to lack of competition. There just aren't many small places with quality menus like this in the area. Both times I've been, the food has been pretty decent. However, the service has not been that great. I get it, most of the staff is hipsters. But that's no excuse for not offering exceptional service. Get rid of the plastic dishes too. Cheap plates kill the vibe somewhat when paired with a nice meal. read more

This review is based on service only, we didn't get a chance to eat. 5 of us waited 20 minutes for the cashier to 1) check out a customer paying their bill and 2) make someone a coffee to go. We asked a couple employees walking by if we could just take a seat and were told the cashier needed to help us. Finally, when the cashier was done, we were told we could only be seated outside as no one was available to wait the inside tables! It was HOT outside! When I told her we could not sit outside, she said "well, I'm sorry, then". Are you kidding me!? Turn away 5 hungry guests!? There was plenty of seating inside, only 2 tables taken. We had international guests with us, and we were all flabbergasted! We left with a very bad impression. read more

This is a wonderful quaint little cafe in a quaint little town of Lititz. Lititz even has a chocolate factory just down the road from the Tomato Pie. The cafe has food that is uniquely excellent (particulary for Lancaster County area). No five course meals here, but excellent taste treats that make for fun eating. An ordering ordeal: Being told an order would take thirty minutes, and asked if I'd like to order something smaller than the French toast because they're busy. So I first went elsewhere to buy a bagel so I wouldn't be hungry, thus get annoyed much quicker. I went back and ordered some French toast to go, after questioning the price I pointed out I wanted the French toast without blueberries, left to run a few errands for about half an hour..and ended up hanging out there for a half hour longer waiting for my food. Finally I got home with the French toast, and on top of taking an hour to complete my order, I discovered that they got the order wrong and gave me French toast with blueberries. But the good news is I only dislike blueberries, and I'm not allergic to them, so there's merely a bad review of this complete effort at customer service. read more

This place is one of my new favorites! The first time I came it was on a hot summer day and they had a Mint Basil smoothie on special. It was so cool and delicious we ordered another right away! My grilled peach goat cheese and arugula salad was very delicious. I had brunch there recently and had the Fried Eggs & Raspberry Brie on toasted sunflower bread and it was perfect. The interior is very cute, as are the wait staff...I mean, those HATS! Seriously, it's like the cast of Oliver and Newsies made the Beast with Two Backs off in the pantry. But kitsch has no place in the kitchen. My sandwich was pre-sliced composite turkey on stale bread, with some spread the ingredients of which the creator was more concerned with the words involved than whether or not said ingredients actually worked together gastronomically. The food was very good but the service was terrible. Yes, it was a busy Saturday. But we had a reservation and were planning a bridal shower with our family. One server actually said out loud "Wow, they're still over there planning!" in a very sarcastic way. Everyone in the kitchen let us know that they were not happy with how long we were staying. Multiple servers made us feel very uncomfortable and kept trying to move us out. This was the 2nd time we have been to Lititz. We decided on lunch at Tomato Pie Cafe. I had the salmon eggs benedict and for someone that doesn't really like smoked salmon and over easy eggs, it was one of the most delicious meals I have had at a restaurant in a very long time. The Expresso Milkshake with a shot of caramel was to die for and my husband enjoyed a salad wich a delicious dressing. Would highly recommend and will be back again....very soon! read more

My mother & I have eaten at Tomato Pit before and enjoyed it, so we returned yesterday for lunch. Our food was fine enough. I had spinach-bacon quiche with mixed greens. (Had to have help getting the dressing out of the bottle.) She had curried sweet potato soup which was good. She wished, though, that someone had told her how HUGE the bowl would be. She'd have had a cup instead of wasting half the serving. And perhaps had a dessert as she'd been eyeing. However, the service was not good, despite few customers present. We were seated promptly. But, after waiting quite a while, we had to ask for a server to come take our order. The hostess tried to explain why there was a delay instead of simply getting the server to come. We also had to ask for our check. There seemed to be lots of staff there, but we had a feeling of general disorganization. We love Lititz, but will reconsider where we have lunch next time. read more

First visit. Food is outstanding, décor is great. We had 5 seated a table for 4, so it was slightly cramped, but it was very busy as it was Mothers Day. I tried the Sausage and Squash hash. I don't eat Butternut Squash normally, but this was outstanding. Sour dough toast was amazing. Server was pleasant and professional. We definitely will be back. We liked everything about this place except of their "bed of greens" or " LIGHTLY TOSSED GREENS "( whatever that means) choice present with every sandwich or pie or in our case Curry Chicken Salad dish. It's basically just plain washed greens which don't have any dressing or salt or anything done to it, and though they are fresh, don't add any taste value to otherwise quite tasty main parts of the dish. The taste could be much better if the dish would be served with real mixed greens salad in stead of plain leaves. But otherwise it's a cute and yummy place and attracts a lot of patrons. read more

My wife had the tomato pie which was delicious. I had the Chicken Panini which was very flavorful. Went here for lunch and ordered the sausage and squash hash with poached eggs. Order arrived and poached eggs had firm yolks, like hard boiled eggs. I asked for anew order of eggs with soft yolks and was told "oh we microwave our poached eggs so it's hard to tell what they're like". Seriously? Microwaved poached eggs? So I got a second order...exactly the same as the first order. Server ignored the fact that they were off to the side of my plate and never even acknowledged it or offered to rectify the problem , much less deduct it from the bill. Gave this place a try after driving by and wanting to check it out for a long time. The food was OK - my husband's sandwich was very bland, and the herb lemonade was odd-tasting. My soup was good, but the "scone" that came with it tasted more like a slice of a savory cake - it didn't have a short, scone-like consistency at all. Maybe it was under-done? Anyway, it was awkward from the start, as the guy seating people was completely unnecessary - in such a small space (the tables are literally packed in, with just a person's width between them), having a host/hostess stand was really a waste of valuable space, and he was kind of snotty. I might give it another try to check out their titular offering - the tomato pie - but won't be bringing my husband, as he didn't like the food or the hipster staff at all. This was one of the most ridiculous dining experiences of my entire life. We were put in the corner over an A/C vent that froze me to the bone. The air was literally jetting straight up from the floor. Then...we ordered.. and waited...and waited...and waited... and waited.... For a sandwich and omelet we waited a ridiculous 1 hour and 40 minutes. And get this.. my sandwich was cold in the center after this ridiculous wait. It was tasty alright and my wifes omelet was tasty too.. but the pain we had to endure to eat that food was simply not worth it. Busy? Not an excuse.. if you cant handle the volume then you need to not seat people unless you TELL them it will be nearly 2 hours before you will eat. Hell, I could have actually driven to Harrisburg, eaten and drove back to Lititz in the time it took to get our food. Does that sound reasonable to anyone else? Simply ridiculous. read more
