    Sticky Toffee Pudding
    Julia G.

Finer dining, but you can wear casual clothes! FREE PARKING LOT! Close to the airport. We made a res but it wasn't too crowded on a weeknight. Staff was SUPER friendly and attentive. Cool to watch the chefs work with the open kitchen atmosphere. Farm to table dining, menu seems to switch up depending on what's in season, but my friend was pumped that the sticky toffee pudding was still on the menu since she last visited! Guava mojito: Very refreshing with mint but perhaps too watered down as I barely tasted the gin Smoked Tomat: An interesting smoky and savory drink, pretty strong (for me) Asparagus: I wish I got a photo of this because the black butter they used made us call this oil spill asparagus. Some of the ends were pretty tough and inedible and it tasted pretty much just like a vegetable not a lot of salt or butter flavor. Wouldn't get it again. Potatoes: BEST PART!!!!!!!!! GET THESE! Crispy but soft in the center, buttery goodness Blackened Cod with green curry and mystery string bean: The cod was tender and definitely tasted like the fish had been caught today. This dish would have benefitted from a side of rice to sop up all that green curry, especially since its family style shared food in a shallow plate it was hard to enjoy much of the curry. It also had a mystery black string bean that looked like a snake and some very pickley pickled vegetables. Odd flavor profile to say the least and not visually appetizing or Instagramable ha! Welsh rarebit (we thought the menu said rabbit)! This item was described to us as an open faced grilled cheese but it reminded me more of like Francesinha in Portugal without the meat. It was not really cheese bread at all. It was huge to where we thought it was almost a cake or a piece of meat tbh. It was very dense and while a few bites were good I think I would've rather tried the bread with butter. Sticky Toffee Pudding: Decadent, but not really a pudding at all. It's more of a dense loaf with a toffee demiglaze. My friend loves it because the dish is hot with the cold ice cream scoop on top. The flavor was a very rich and strong toffee flavor. I think I might like something sweeter though next time. Very generous letting the girls gab for over an hour and didn't feel rushed out. And apparently they have a rooftop?! I might come back for the atmosphere but the food wasn't craveable for me EXPENSIVE! Oops! For a casual vibe the price isn't casual yall. We split all of these items and ended up paying ~$95 each with tax and tip.

The black cod kedgree is SO YUMMY! Diff for a breakfast dish, but savory and light. Filling and flavorful.

Too beautiful to eat, or is it?

OMG!! How is this lively restaurant in Westchester?! And not that I have anything against Westchester. I grew up here. But I've dined at fine restaurants across the country and internationally. And what they're doing here is exceptional. I started with the salmon crude, followed by the vegetables with outstation pesto, and then the black cod. Everything was exceptional. As I sit in the restaurant awaiting my dessert, I already know it will be a perfect ending to this fantastic meal.

Note to self, don't judge a book by its cover. Friends brought us here for hubby's birthday and it turned out worth the drive for early supper on Sunday night. The 3 story building is off to the side of a cute little street with Mom and pop shops and restaurants. Very quaint. The building itself is fronting an oversized parking lot. The inside looks more coffee shop than gastronomic gem, I was quick to judge. We were seated at a booth in the back. Perfect for intimate conversation and corraling a 2 year old. The quality and creativity of the dishes that came out of their open kitchen was surprising. The menu reads interesting and made it a bit hard to decide what to taste test. We tried the smashed potatoes, server said they were really good and he was not mistaken. We also had the tartare, beets and Labneh, the chanterelle dolma and the burger. Friends also had the fix and chips and the black cod. I'm always weary of people claim this is the best this or that, but thiñe burger is up there in my list, though burger is not something I usually order. Rather than the usual onion, lettuce and tomatoes, the burger was dressed with chicory Cesar. The Dolma was satisfying and the beats delicious. It's nice to have a restaurant focus on produce and have several vegetarian options available. The roof deck has great views of planes landing and departing into LAX, as an bona fide aviation geek that was a total treat. If you're in the Westchester area or near LAX this would be a good stop for a casual dinner.

    Pastrami Sandwich

Great Service and Good Food. The pastrami sandwich was fine but the duct was Super!!! If the restaurant was more toward to the west LA or the beach area then they can charge $10-15 more for the food.

Poached egg was perfect for me

Have you ever had Croque Monsieur? It's what I ordered expecting a sauce. The description: CROQUE MONSIEUR RACLETTE, RAREBIT SAUCE, HOUSE CURED BACON, PICKLED WALNUTS, DIJON The bread was way too thick for the amount of filling and it was so dense and dry that I couldn't swallow it. Luckily I ordered a poached egg for more protein. Where was the SAUCE? That could have helped. I even tried deconstructing it to eat it and it was still way too dry. I just left it. Waiter came and I told him I couldn't eat it. I didn't ask for anything and nothing was offered to me. $21 left on the plate. See photos.

Since Tomat opened in the neighborhood, I've been really enjoying coming here for morning coffees (though I wish they opened a tad earlier!) Staff are always friendly, and they also have wifi and outlets to charge your laptop if you want to stay for awhile and get some work done. The ambiance here is chic and comforting. I enjoy looking at the art on the walls whenever I come. The coffee is always great here and I love that they have a few lower caffeine options, like hojicha. My only complaint about this place is that the markup for non-dairy milk with your coffee priced at $1.50 is crazy. Most coffee shops do 75 cents.

It's like a duck tamal wrapped in an onion layer in a broth. Delicious and beautiful!

So much to love about Tomat! Where to begin??? Tomat is breath of fresh air in the Westchester triangle. They're self described as a "farm to kitchen" restaurant so you know it won't get any fresher! Pair that freshness along with chill vibe of lively music and the hustle of the staff...you've go yourself a good time. 1st off you'll want to start with their bread and butter. I think it's made with magic because it just leaves you smiling before the main course arrives. Entres... Off the top of my head...the Mole sauce with duck was perfection! Simply magical. I've also had a taste of their chicken plate and that's a must try too! So juicy and seasoned to perfection. Moving on...if there is one dessert you MUST try it is the trifle. Good lord! I dreamt about it for days. Highly recommended!!! Overall: They have a rooftop bar too and I'm looking forward to hitting that up next! There are still other plates I need to try at Tomat and am looking forward to sharing the photos with you. A must add to your list of dining experiences. Cheers!

Non-alcoholic cola in the front, a whiskey cocktail in the back

Tomat is a great farm-to-table restaurant that offers elevated dining that is unique to Westchester. They describe themselves as serving modern California cuisine with a diverse offering, which I agree with! A lot of the dishes feel aligned with English origins, which I love - also something we don't actually have a lot of in LA. Overall, the food was great, the service is very friendly, and the restaurant feels nice but homey at the same time. We went as a party of 2 and ordered the following: - 1 whiskey cocktail (I don't remember the name of it) and 1 non-alcoholic cola, which was delicious and refreshing. It was a nice blend of spices. - 2 starters - Barbari bread, roasted tomato butter and sugar snap peas, fried parsnips, garden herbs, kanzuri dressing. The bread is delicious! It is served warm with a toasted bottom and crunchy top. The bread itself had really good flavor, and the butter was nice and creamy. It is a pretty large portion. We took half of it home. The sugar snap peas tasted very fresh and clean. It was nicely balanced. - 1 side - Fenugreek roast potatoes. They were lightly smashed and lightly seasoned - perfect as is, but also great dipped in the seasoning that came with our mains. - 2 mains - Liberty duck, confit leg dolmeh, walnut mole and Berkshire pork collar, nectarine chamoy. The duck and pork were both cooked beautifully. The duck skin had a nice hard crunch. The other elements of both plates really showcased the California diversity that Tomat is aiming for. They weren't combinations that I've seen before, but everything went together and tasted great. - 1 dessert - Sticky toffee pudding. My favorite dessert in England! This is definitely big enough to share - still generous portion for 2 people, and in my opinion it could probably be shared with up to 4 people and be very satisfying. The flavor was everything I wanted it to be. The pudding is thick and dense. A bigger scoop of ice cream might be nice to balance the sweetness a little bit. The food was served at a pretty loose pace, which added to the comfortable but elevated homey feel for me. For example, the 2 mains arrived staggered and the side was served a few minutes after the 2nd main. This is not a complaint, just an observation. They had a few specials that sounded great as well - most of the special mains were made to serve (at least) 2. And in true farm-to-table fashion, the menu does change frequently. Our total bill was just under $200 for all of the above items for 2 people before tip. It's definitely possible to have a less indulgent and therefore less costly meal here, but it's also a great place to indulge if you want to. This was certainly a treat meal for me! The restaurant is clean and it was bustling but didn't feel crowded - the tables have a respectable amount of space in between them. Parking is as easy as it gets with a massive open free parking lot right out front. I'm really glad to have Tomat in Westchester, and I look forward to returning!

This may be one of my new favorite restaurants I've been to recently. Their menu is farm to table and has some inspiration from Japanese and European cuisines. The bread is a must have, everyone else was getting it and for a good reason. They also have specials on their menu that changes daily. When we went, they had a tuna collarbone, and it was one of the best collarbone dishes I've had I love the space of the restaurant as well, it's cozy and relaxed. It would be the perfect space to get dinner alone, but also grateful for small groups. During the day their space is a coffee shop , which I have not been to yet, but we will definitely be checking it out very soon.

I fall deeper and deeper in love every time! I think the team at Tomat has figured out an identity for their menu that is creative but high quality. We love the barbari bread and get it every time. I've had the berkshire pork collar with beans twice and would order it again in a second. The rancho gordo lentils are a signature dish for a reason. On this particular evening service was incredible. Our waitress was so sweet, and when she felt we had waited a little too long to order (which we didn't really notice!), she brought us a pesto salad on the house. The bartender was so attentive to bring me a fresh ice cold glass when she noticed my martini had been sitting for a while. The attention to detail was really impressive without ever feeling stuffy.

Met with a friend before they were flying out from LAX and found Tomat and decided to try it out. Would definitely like to come back for the Dinner Menu. Short drive away from LAX and there is plenty of parking which is a good thing. The coffee I decided to get was the Hijo Miso Caramel Latte, the flavor was a roasted flavor with some sweetness. It was pretty good so I also got one to go as well. We mainly were looking to grab and grab some coffee so this was perfect. The food we got was the duck with the thousand layer potato. The duck was done very well. The skin was crisp and the meat was flavorful. Falling off the bone. The potato was definitely one of the most unique things I've had in a while. The Chirashi consists mainly of smoked fish sashimi. Personal preference that I enjoy traditional sashimi but this was a nice change to enjoy occasionally. Ingredients did all seem very fresh. The ambiance and decor felt very cozy, being able to see into the kitchen and workspace definitely provides a very good vibe. Service was great, Nathan was very patient and helpful as it was our first time. Ethan also, very good service and friendly environment. Can't wait to come back to try the dinner menu.

I'd been eager to try TOMAT for a while, especially after all the buzz from local food blogs and websites made it one of the harder reservations to land in Westchester. After some persistence, we finally secured a table. TOMAT sits in a sleek three-story building in a strip mall, but once inside you realize how thoughtfully designed it is. The first floor houses the main dining room and open kitchen, the second level offers a private space and restrooms, and the third floor is an open-air patio where they host live music and events. It's nicely done all around. Parking, which is often a headache in this part of town, was plentiful and easy. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. The table was spacious, the seating comfortable, and the atmosphere struck a nice balance between modern and warm, upscale enough to feel special but not stuffy or too formal. To start, we ordered the Barbari bread with tomato butter, a sunchoke salad, and a pear salad. The menu changes frequently, but everything we tried was memorable. The Barbari bread was so good we ordered a second round. For mains, we had the lamb, the ribeye with rice, plus beets and potatoes on the side. While everything was cooked with attention to detail, the portions were surprisingly small for entrées priced at $50 and up. The ribeye was just three small pieces and came out very rare despite our request for medium rare. To their credit, they quickly refired it. The lamb, while tasty, was mostly bone and fat with only a few bites of actual meat. Our waiter, who was very friendly and attentive, had described the mains as suitable for sharing, but in reality they weren't even enough for one person. We were still hungry and ended up ordering the half chicken, which turned out to be properly sized and excellent. For dessert we tried the $19 sundae, which came in deconstructed form. The ingredients were clearly high quality, but the end result was a bit flat and not the special finish we were hoping for. The bill came to about $70 per person before gratuity. Overall, the quality was very good, and the space and service make it a nice place for a night out, but the main course portions left us disappointed. We'd consider giving TOMAT another try - especially since they do fun things like trivia nights on the patio - but it probably won't be our first pick for a return visit anytime in the very near future.

My friends ordered the bird of paradise and the LA fruit cart and they liked their drinks as well. For food, we all tried the flora fries, garlic parmesan wings and the ahi tuna poke nachos. This is where it was lacking. I only liked the flora fries. They were crispy and garlicky. However, the garlic parmesan wings were extremely bland. I couldn't taste any flavor, we had to ask for some salt. The ahi tuna poke was not what i was expecting. I literally got 4 small pieces of tuna on some crispy wonton chips and it was $23 lol. We sat at a high table by the window and the kind young bartender took our drink and food orders. We had arrived in time for happy hour, so we chose the charcuterie board and two orders of the salmon sliders, both reasonably priced at $9.50 each. The sliders were spicy and delicious. The charcuterie board was not as impressive. It didn't seem particularly fresh; the grapes especially were a bit wrinkly and sad. We could also have done with a few more pieces of toast to go with the pieces of smoked Gouda and Brie, and the couple slices of salami and prosciutto. There were also a few dates and dried apricots on the board. Well, whatta ya want for $9.50 in L.A., I guess... He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly without being intrusive. The food was delicious. Our favorites were the wedge salad, lamb chops, and the ribeye. We finished with the s'mores and cheesecake desserts. Each dish had its own unique twist, and the flavors worked really well together. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with great food, service, and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Ehhh.... That's how I feel about this place. Just "ehh." I was so excited to try something new in…read moremy backyard but their summer seasonal menu lacks enough items to be enthused over. We started the hummus plate app-- arrived dripping with oil (even the bread is saturated) and the green & grainy hummus was just a fail. Somebody should have tested that menu item before adding it to the menu. Our whole group passed on it after a bite. Cesar salad- Sparked a manhunt for the lettuce hidden under a liter of dressing. Salmon Tacos- zero flavor. I asked for the salt shaker to help the cause. Also, the purple tortillas were soft in the middle, and stale all around the outer edges so the bite of food was off putting just chewing a semi-hard tortilla. If I could rate the staff and manager separate from the food though? Five stars. They were friendly & attentive.

The outdoor patio is such a cool space to just relax, people watch, and enjoy the scenery. They had music playing along with a big screen TV, which made it feel like a perfect chill spot to unwind without feeling overcrowded. Since I went midday, it wasn't too packed, which honestly made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were absolutely sweet, friendly, and very attentive -- not just to me, but also to the couple sitting nearby. Customer service definitely did not go unnoticed. I'll definitely be back to try the food next time!

I would give zero stars if I could. To begin with they absolutely have the worst customer service I…read morehave experienced in my entire life. Servers and waiters will blatantly walk past you as you're trying to flag them down or get their attention. They will ignore you even if you have money in your hand and you're trying to order. They are extremely anti-black and extremely racist. I had multiple servers look at me and disgust while trying to order or would blatantly stare me in my eyes and then take another person's order over mine. I was walking home from work and just wanted to stop by this place because I had never been and boy was it the biggest mistake of my life. I've been in places that were crowded, but this place was honestly a safety hazard. Everyone is shoving and pushing. It's terrible. When I was finally able to order after being ignored for 20 minutes, all of my food came out cold and I had to send the drinks back because it looked like there was something in it. If you plan on going here, go there at your own risk.

The service is really nice and it is fast. There are tables for you to dine at and a server will be with you right away. The menu is not huge, but everything on it is great. They really go out of their way to make their food great so it is just not a bar--but if you want to see a game there, this is the place to be. It is super clean. Parking is for a fee, but I recall them validating me last time. This place is close to LAX and perfect if waiting for a plane or someone getting off one. The hotel is also super nice. Have a fun time.

Bright and early!!! Anyway... Century Taproom is an interesting place with tons of variety of taps and a full bar . The food is nice but the prices are steep, I guess no less is expected from an establishment near the airport. We had a mighty Hawaiian pizza it was good. You can have sushi from the neighbors if you want Service is pretty attentive Fun fact: the Dodgers are playing right now and we have to watch the game on the cellphone because here they are not showing any baseball sad!!! We are in LA!!!
