My friend and I were visiting the area. We ask our house hostess where we should go to get 'good' authentic food. She suggested Tomasita's. Glad we found it! The atmosphere was great, service was excellent and the food was up to standard!

This was our second time dining here. It's conveniently located across from the train station. I've noticed that it's a go-to for those getting off the train. Both times, there was what felt like a herd of people speed walking in a marathon style to get there first. I can see why it's a local favorite. The food is pretty good. The Food: New Mexican Enchilada Suiza Generous portion. The chicken was moist and flavorful. That green chili sauce on the enchiladas was bursting with flavor! The beans were average. The squash had a certain seasoning that I wasn't a fan of. Bowl of chili Generous portion. The mild did not taste mild. It was super spicy and delicious! Kid's enchilada It was good, but not my daughter's favorite. She only took a few bites after filling up on the beans. My daughter LOVES beans. She said they were good, but have had much better. Sopapillas This is where is at!!! OMG!!! Some of THE BEST sopapillas that I've ever had!! They come with a delightful honey butter and a bottle of honey. I would come back just for the sopapillas!!! Flour tortillas Not good. We're used to the Mexican style recipe that are fluffy and tasty. These were NOT fluffy or tasty. My kids said they weren't good at all. I tried a bite and agreed. House Margarita They did not hold back with the tequila! It was delicious! The Margarita mixture was perfect! Not too sweet and not overpoweringly strong. Beer Very limited selection. They had three IPAs and DosXX. I was expecting at least a tiny variety. Service: Service was a bit slow, but that's understandable due to the high volume of customers. We were part of a train arrival rush. The waitress was friendly enough, but could tell that she was feeling a bit stressed. Overall experience We will be back. The food was pretty good. We would come back just for the margaritas and sopapillas alone! We could have easily shared a meal. That might be the way to go next time.

Seven friends went to Tomasitas on Saturday as part of a 50th anniversary celebration. We had a train experience planned at 6:15. We got to the restaurant at 4:30, which we thought would be plenty early enough. They were already packed with a line out the door. It took nearly 20 minutes just to reach the hostess stand and check in. One we did they told us it was a 25 minute wait. Fortunately by the time I waded through the crowds and got back to my group, I already got the text that our table was ready. The next part was chaotic at best. You had to wade back through the line of people still checking in to be seated. Once you got back to the hostess stand, it was every man for himself. There were so many people crowded in to the tiny space it was impossible to tell the people trying to get on the list from the people who had been called to their table. Groups of people were cutting to the front to get seated ahead of others who were already in line to get seated. The employees were not managing it well, instead of calling the name of the next person in line, they just seated the people in front, who as I already mentioned, may have just pushed their way ahead of people already waiting. We finally made to our table and were seated. I really appreciate our waiter, once we told him about our time crunch, he was on it. He got our orders in quickly and the food arrived quickly. He got everything perfect. When we finished he got the checks done fast and we made it out with plenty of time to spare. As far as the food is concerned, the majority of the group enjoyed their meal. One meal, a taco salad wasn't good. The chicken was dry and the fried tortilla bowl was tough and chewy, not crispy. The sopapillas were hot and delicious, served with honey butter and honey. Overall experience was very mixed, terrible check in, great waiter, mostly good food.

We took a day trip from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and stopped here for a late lunch before heading back. We are visiting the state and had heard that this was a long time establishment. It was busy but the staff were exceptional, food came with large portions and packed with flavor. It's very easy to see why they've been around for over 50 years! The enchiladas with green chili were a favorite. The cocktail list was refreshing and the atmosphere was relaxed--it seemed like lots of groups of locals meeting friends for happy hour.

Nachos with green chile, margarita flight

- Vibes: Upscale yet casual, good for families - Crowd: busy on a weekday evening but short wait - Value for price: 5/5, not terribly expensive and great quality - Service: Fantastic. Kind and quick - Parking: onsite lot, gets very crowded Came to Tomasita's on a Monday night while visiting my friend in Santa Fe. They don't take reservations and although it was very busy we were seated within 10 minutes. My friends raved about the "swirl" margaritas (Santa Fe classic, apparently) so we got a frozen margarita flight. We were able to adjust the drinks in the flight- they even made me a frozen spicy margarita although that wasn't technically on the menu. Very helpful wait staff. We shared the flautas and loaded nachos. Both were rich but fantastic. We asked for both with a side of green chiles (highly recommend). The flautas came with sopaipillas which were fresh, soft and YUMMY. (They even brought two more when we asked!) This is a vibrant place to come for special occasions or even a nice family dinner. Highly recommend especially if you're visiting!

I met friends for lunch at Tomasita's last week. We sat at the bar, and were seated quickly. The bartender was nice and took our food order quickly. I ordered two chicken tacos. Three came out. but we quickly figured out that the third taco was for my friend who ordered it ala carte. The tacos were super tasty. it came with guacamole, salsa, hominy and a sopapilla. it was extremely busy for a 1:30 p.m. lunch. all the tables in the bar area were full. But it was nice to sit at the bar and converse with the bartender. the restaurant was a bit loud, but we were in a good spot where we could hear each other speak.

We loved the Super Combo plate (enchilada, tamale, chile relleno), and the Mar y Fuego special (Red Snapper fajitas). Everything was delicious. This place came recommend multiple times and it did not disappoint. Our server, Pajaritito was wonderful, warm, and friendly. Luckily we had no wait on a weekday around lunchtime. Perfect all around. Parking onsite. Museum, and a railroad station nearby.

Food was amazing! We went with a party of 11 and the server was awesome and didn't miss a beat. Busy place but I understand why. Great place for large groups, We all had to undo some buttons on our pants!!

We spent a week in New Mexico and this was our favorite meal. Excellent food, excellent service, fun and casual. Thought there'd be a wait with how many cars were there but we got seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive. Food is extremely good - I got the platter on the menu that says it's for those "with a big appetite". It did not disappoint. If you're visiting Santa Fe and want to see what New Mexican food is all about, try Tomasita's.

This is obviously a locals favorite. We rolled into town last Sunday morning so we weren't surprised to see a big wait to dine here. It's a big enough place but very popular. They told us it would be 15-20 minutes but it was no more than 10. Service was prompt and friendly. A shoutout to America! The food had the New Mexico fire we were looking for. My wife declared the enchiladas her favorite of the trip.

Combo platter of a sirloin, chile relleno, and chimi with rice and beans.

After a long day of adventuring back and forth to Albuquerque for a football game and other sightseeing, it was pretty late and I had just arrived back into Santa Fe on the railrunner. I started to agonize over all the dinner choices I had, but ultimately, convenience won out and I ended up just wandering into Tomasita's. Literally the closest thing to where the train dropped me off. It had a ton of reviews, and looks like it had been around for quite some time, so I went in. The place is massive, and the joint was jumping. They actually had a short wait. Upon being seated I was asked if I wanted chips and salsa... leading to my main complaint. Where I come from, and at every other place in NM I visited for similar cuisine, that is provided for free. They charge for it here. Listed on the menu... but I had not seen it at that point. I felt this was deceptive. That said, it was just a few bucks, and maybe the chips and salsa would be awesome. That was not the case. My chips were overcooked and stale tasting, and the salsa did nothing to help. A flat waste, and not a good first impression. From there things were better, and actually, my carne asada was way better than I expected... in the realm of cheap steaks, this was certainly one of the better ones. It was a combination that also came with a cheese chile relleno that I thought was great, and a chimichanga which was not. I was pretty full after that, didn't eat much on the rice and beans, but found them just fine. Interestingly, chips and salsa not free, but a wonderful puffed up sopapilla with a sweet cinnamon butter was. This, the sirloin, and the chile relleno helped save the meal. All in all, this felt like a pretty touristy place, but one with a long history. I thought it was fine, but should mention, it was my least favorite meal of the trip where just about everything else was a culinary delight.

Chicken enchiladas

Delicious food! We loved the sopapillas with honey butter and honey. Chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, Chalupa's with veggies, and stuffed sopapillas with veggies and pinto beans were fabulous! Leonardo was an amazing waiter and he took great care of us. Margaritas were delicious too.

If you're looking for classic New Mexican comfort food in Santa Fe, Tomasita's absolutely delivers. We grabbed a table on the patio and started with their fresh sopapillas, which came out warm, fluffy, and perfect for tearing apart and dipping in honey. For my husband's meal, he ordered green chile enchiladas, smothered in their famous hatch green chile and melted cheese. The sauce had that perfect New Mexican balance -- flavorful, a little smoky, and with just enough heat to keep things interesting without overpowering the dish. I went with chicken tacos, served with Spanish rice and all the fresh toppings. The tacos were loaded with shredded chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and salsa, and the rice on the side was fluffy and well seasoned. To drink, I tried a layered frozen margarita, which was as fun to look at as it was to drink -- icy, refreshing, and perfect for a sunny afternoon on the patio. My husband had a cold beer, it made for the ultimate Santa Fe lunch combo. Between the flavorful food, the relaxed patio atmosphere, and the classic New Mexican dishes done right, Tomasita's is one of those spots that reminds you why Santa Fe's food scene is so special. Definitely a place I'd come back to anytime I'm in town.

Very glad I did--we nabbed a courtyard table, and enjoyed our time immensely. It's a beautiful, comfortable spot. The food was satisfying and generous. Really recommend the corn chowder--tons of flavor, great consistency. The huevos rancheros were solid, not spectacular. Just not as spicy as I would have liked and the pintos were just average. The pork sliders were awesome, a great deal. Service was friendly and efficient. Lots of solid pros working together.

We were not able to score one of the coveted reservations for dinner, so we braved the walk-in queue in the courtyard, which actually moved quite fast -- with a wait time of about 45 minutes for a party of two on a weekday night. The menu features all the classic New Mexican flavors you'd expect, from enchiladas to burritos, and the kitchen is happily open to accommodating most dietary restrictions. At our server's recommendation, we split a bowl of the Vegetarian Posole ($9). While it was packed with corn, butternut squash, green chile, and garlic, we both agreed it didn't quite live up to the massive hype. On the other hand, the entrees completely redeemed it. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tamale Plate ($18.50) -- two tamales (your choice of red pork chili or green veggie chili -- I did one of each) served with beans, Spanish rice, and a side of red or green chile that packs the perfect punch. My dining companion loved the Fish Tacos ($17.25), which came loaded with sautéed cod, avocado, cabbage, and a beautifully citrus-forward pico de gallo. Both of us thought the portions were filling without leaving us feeling stuffed and the flavors were completely spot on. Overall, a great 4-star experience with wonderful flavors, great value, and solid service despite the chaotic dinner rush!

Would never come back again. ============= This review got flagged by Yelp HQ, let me rewrite this and be clear of what happened. I walked into El Callejon Taqueria and Grill, located on 208 Galisteo St Santa Fe, NM 87501 on Aug 22 2026. It was on a Saturday night, right before 9pm. This was my first weekend in the city of Santa Fe, on both Yelp and Google this location shows the restaurant closes at 11pm. When I walked in the bartender told me that it was closed. I wouldn't care that a business is closed before the listed hours; it was the way the bartender went about it. He could have politely told me that the kitchen was closed, and I would not have had any problem with it. He walked up to me within arm's length and continuously repeated "sorry we are closed" multiple times while getting closer to me. It was one of the worst experiences I have had to get escorted "asked" out of a restaurant. The experience was not good. To be clear I never get to try the food here.

This is a simple family restaurant with red booths and a no frills plastic booths filled patio. We were pleased they had a liquor license! Turns out it was a great choice for dinner, even though I didn't have a huge appetite tonight. No chips and salsa for free in this town, we plowed into drinks and entrees instead. Our server was a patient and relaxed young man, happy to take my order and then let me change it before he left the table. The $8 sangria was huge and boozy, in a sweet and very good way. Dos XX bottle came with a chilled salted mug and lime. Prices were reasonable. Our server was excited to serve me my first Frito pie ($9) with red chile, no beans, it was the perfectly sized smaller portion meal for me with no leftovers! I ate all of it, then maybe had a little regret. I wish I had ordered Christmas style to try both the red and green sauces, but the red was pretty spicy and I felt it the next day. Covered in lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream, it doesn't look like much on a plate but I am a big fan of Frito pie now! Husband had the Grande combo with beef taco, cheese enchilada (red), chicken tostada, rice, posole and beans. This is where Valentina's shines! The tostada chicken was extremely tender and moist shredded meat in a fluted blue corn tortilla cup. The cheese enchilada was gooey and perfect, the red sauce dark, rich and earthy. The beef taco crispy and satisfying. It seems in NM that posole is served with everything, feels strange to this Arizona gal to have hominy and pork as a side. It isn't super flavorful but its traditional, so we picked at it. This plate came with a flour tortilla to boot, overkill! Rice and beans were solid contributors, but this was a huge plate and a struggle to finish! In the end, it ended up being one of our most economical and memorable dinners in our week in Santa Fe, thanks Valentinos!
