Well, hellooooo Tocotea! Welcome to my Boba rotation. I had visited the South Bay location before and was so delighted when one open closer to me. I ordered the Jasmine Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Boba and got hooked. It was refreshing and had the perfect balance of milk and tea. It was not overly sweet which brown sugar tend to do. The Boba had a good chew and bounce to it. I also had their Pandan Waffle and it was hot and fresh. Now I can't leave without ordering it. read more

Drink: STRAWBERRY FREEZE W/ BOBA I'm an avid fan of anything strawberry, but when it comes to Freezes, I'm very picky. First walking in they greeted me and told me to let them know when I was ready which I liked because it shows that they are aware and welcoming of their customers. Ordering was straight forward and the cashier was very kind and respectful. When my drink was finishing and they were ready to seal it, i saw they didn't have a regular plastic seal, they sealed it with the tops of a soda can! Oh edd never seen anything like that before so i was pleasantly surprised. This'll for sure be my go to spot for the Strawberry freeze! read more

Terrible thai tea. More water than tea. When I asked for a refund she told me she doesn't know how to do that and I should try something else instead. If you can't get a simple Thai tea done right, how will anything else taste better? Left the tea there and told her I will do a chargeback with my credit card. she didn't seem to care and invited me to do that. I was so upset I even took back the cash tip i left. read more

Since I was in Union City and had been wanting to try this I went to give it a try! It's located right next to luckys and Jamba Juice, I went after eating at Backyard Bayou in the same strip mall. The service was pretty quick and the guy making it was nice! They have a lot of comfy seating, some cute painted murals you can take pics of, and cute cup designs. I got the Matcha with boba it was pretty standard, the boba wasn't hot/fresh but it was probably towards the end of the night so it makes sense. I wouldn't go out of my way for this spot but being in the area it was convenient and tasty! Would go again if I am nearby it and craving boba. read more

I'm sorry but this place was not good. I came on a rainy day. Consider it was cold outside, normally heaters are on but this place had the heater on full blast. It started to feel like an uncomfortable heat-ness. Idk how the workers can deal with it. I ordered a strawberry milk tea and a taro cheesecake drink. I like how the drinks come in a one large size. That's the only plus. Consider I was the only person there (and my bf) it wasn't busy. Later more people showed up. I overheard one customer say, "what? You're out of boba? How is a boba place out of boba"? And then I was like "wait a second, I ordered boba on mine " So I'm not sure what happened. Did they just run out? Idk. Anyways my drinks arrived, and unfortunately, neither drinks weren't good. The Taro Cheesecake was super watered down to where it tasted like water with creamer. My strawberry milk tea was overwhelming tasting of black tea. It tasted more as a chocolate tea than Strawberry. Consider both drinks were roughly $7 (maybe 8) each, I would say this place is not worth it. The decor is cute though. read more

Do not go here if you do not know anything about Boba. The little Asian girl at the front will make fun of you in front of other customers. So humiliating. Sorry not everyone know everything about boba. I can't believe they will talk openly bad about you amongst all of the CI workers read more

I've only tried their regular milk tea, matcha monster, and pandan waffle. I didn't like my matcha monster. It didn't even look like the other matcha monsters in the yelp pictures. I would recommend ordering your drink in their plastic can. For some reason, it tastes way better. Their pandan waffle was yummy! I highly recommend to pick one up when stopping by. Would love to try other drinks they offer like the red velvet milk tea. read more

I love this place so it is hard for me to write this review. BUT the last two time I ordered pandan waffle here both time was BURNT. The last time I was at the store so I gave it back and asked for a refund. I told the girls at the front that they should NOT give customers burnt waffles and she said they were having issues with their pandan maker. WTF. Common sense. I DoorDash tea and waffle today and my waffle came BURT AGAIN!!! Please take this item off your menu if you do not know how to make them. read more

Small and simple boba shop with cute wall art to take your boba pic with. Tried the passion fruit yakult, and I rated it a 8/10. I liked that I could taste both yakult and passion fruit. I'm guessing my sisters either enjoyed the drinks as well or found it pretty standard given I heard no complaints. Takeaways: I would most likely try this place again if i'm nearby. Service was average. Took my order, but wasn't enthusiastic or rude. Got the job done. Give it a try. read more

Was in Union Landing and needed a place to kill time. Found this boba shop and decided to try them out. I agree with Ilse's previous review that the place is hot and uncomfortable. I hope they can turn down the heater a bit. I wanted to try their tiramisu cheesecake but they were out, so I had their taro cheesecake with boba instead. As soon as I had my 1st sip, I realized that I was not asked the option to adjust the sweetness and ice level, especially since I was the only person there when I ordered. The drink was good but it was sweeter than to my liking. A few customers came and went and every time they were asked for the ice level and sweetness. My order had white chocolate in it, cheesecake topping, and coconut shavings I believe, which were good, but the boba was mushy. It was pricier than others at $8. read more

The staff here is really nice. I thought you only get the special cup with a special drink but I got the mango green tea and got this cup too! The tea was really strong but not a lot of mango taste. Tocotea opens in a former cleaners space. just outside seating. no inside seating seen. offerings: milk tea, cream cheese, freeze, yakult, fresh fruit. specialities. menu drink: green tea cream cheese (5.75) -cream cheese foam was overly sweet. forgot to customize and mix. -green tea had a strong flavor. *menu looks a copycat of most boba shops.... drips: -smelled waffles, didn't see food menu. -small microphone at bottom right-easier for attendant to hear orders. i could hear him fine. read more

This place is pretty cool, nothing too fancy, just a normal Boba shop. This is the closest one compared to the other few down the road. If you need a fix, it gets the job done. The only thing that isn't great is they don't serve food all the foods, just the waffles. Other than that, it's cool. It's boba and tea. What do you expect? I came here with my brother the other day because I've had this spot on my list ever since they opened and it didn't disappoint! I had the creme brûlée milk tea with boba and Crystal noodles. The Crystal noodles definitely hit different. The boba was nice and soft, chewy but in a good way. The Crystal noodles were as thick as the boba and had almost 95% the same texture as the boba. It definitely added some texture to the drink. The drink itself was also decent, I had mine too sweet but I think that's due to my improper mixing of everything in the container. The cups/containers they used were also a novelty. They use plastic cans to give the appearance that your drink is in a soda can. To open your drink you need to pop the tan just like a regular soda can which I thought was really cool. All in all, very solid spot in terms of boba and would definitely come back to try other items on the menu. read more

I decided to try this place as i was in the area. Their house milk tea was pretty good with 50% sugar. I got it with the usual boba, lychee coffee and grass jelly. It was perfect not super sweet. I also got their strawberry green tea(knocking down 1 star for not having fresh fruit bits) too. They also offer pandan waffle which i absolutely love but just came from eating was not craving it. But around these areas not too many places offer pandan waffle unless ur in the east side sjc. Overall i will be back to try a few other things. read more

3/4/23 Though the space is nice, it was empty and the vibe wasn't the friendliest. Got my 3 drinks, which looked quite standard (and compared to today's hyper boba drinks, maybe even on the boring side) and left... 1. Pineapple Freeze $5.75 + Boba $0.65: Well, it was swirly, but not sure what was mixed in. Does taste pineappley. Boba was particularly soft. Maybe too soft--almost mushy. 4/10 2. Cream Cheese Chocolate $5.75 + Boba $0.65: Pretty surprised--it tastes A LOT like hot chocolate, but cold. So, if you want a boba'ized iced hot chocolate, this is your drink! I taste zero "cream cheese" though. 6/10 3. Milk Tea $5.75 + Boba $0.65: Gf got mad at me when I said I didn't get this de-sugared. But despite not asking, it was surprisingly not sweet. I think if you ask, it probably wouldn't be sweet at all. Anyway, it was alright. Nothing special tasting. Same mushy boba. 3/10 Yeah, nothing special here. 2/5 #unioncity #bobaicetea #chinesetea #pineappledrink #cheesedrink #milktea #bobamilktea read more

I remember seeing this place somewhere and thinking that the canned drinks were cool, so I decided to try it out. I've been to this place twice. Both times being a little disappointed. The drinks are just too watery?if that's the right word. The milk teas weren't silky, and I excepted the freeze to be good, but it was basically a slush. The flavors are there, however, the strawberry freeze was a little dull and reminded me of Nesquik. The crème brûlée milk tea also didn't taste that special. The service both times were pretty good, the second time I felt bad for the employee because she was alone and managing everything, so I didn't feel too bad when the drinks took a bit of time. The ambiance of the store is decent, however I don't think I would stay for a chat with friend, as it can feel cramped when there's a lot of people. Overall, this place is decent... read more

I've only been here 2 times and have ordered the same drink every time. I ordered the oolong tea with cream cheese topping. It is SO GOOD. I'm new to the cream cheese topping thing so I don't really KNOW what makes a good one. The toppings I've had at other places tend to be grainy and overly sweet. TOCOTEA's is really smooth, not overly sweet, and creamy and pairs well with the oolong! Staff is really friendly and they have indoor seating. They make drinks REALLY quick as well. read more

This boba place just opened a couple of months ago and I'm so glad that we don't have to travel far to get a boba drink. The place is so clean and they have a lounging area with a nice couch. I liked their walled angel wings and boba drink brush painting. They have a variety of boba drinks and we've to ask for their recommendations. We ended up trying their tocotea house special. It had red beans, crystal jelly, and boba. After taking a few sips, we found out that we made the right choice. This drink is so good. It's not too sweet and there's a lot of red beans and crystal jelly in it. We enjoyed this drink and loved how it was made. I've come to terms with disliking boba shops without a kiosk. This was by far the sweetest fruit tea I've ever consumed (I was unable to pick sweetness level, I typically sit at a 25%). I couldn't drink it like that, so I brought it home and split it into three whole bottles mixed w/ water. Tbh if you go here w a friend or two, get one drink and split it like I did. Saves you money, and after it wasn't going to cause me diabetes, the overall fruit tea wasn't so bad. My fiance couldn't stand his milk tea either, so it dropped my 2* down to a 1*. read more

Union City is seeing a lot more boba shops pop up and there's (finally) one at Union Landing now. I ordered the Peach and Passion Green Tea, 50% sweet with coconut jelly. It was really sweet for my taste, even after all the ice melted, so I'll be sure to order less sweet next time. The coconut jelly threw me off since I was expecting to see white pieces at the bottom of my cup. I was sure they forgot it since I didn't see it and didn't get any in my straw when I started drinking. Turns out, the jelly comes as large, transparent cubes that I had to break up with my straw and fish around for. It doesn't have much of a coconut taste or any chewiness to it, honestly not a memorable topping. The flavor of tea itself was good, it has the nice tartness of passion fruit and I only came cross one seed. I also tried my bf's jasmine milk tea and it was better than my fruit tea! He said it tasted better because it was in a can lol. Overall, not bad for a milk tea fix. read more

Not a lot of choices on their menu and the first few drinks I tried were nothing special - the red velvet milk tea was just ok and the caramel jasmine milk tea was too strong on the jasmine side. I came here after have lunch ( since I like to have my lunches with a drink to finish it off ). This place was nearby so I decided to give it a try. They weren't very busy inside and ambience of the restaurant was very nice. Their drinks came in a really cute bottle / can combo design. It's similar to soda can but a bottle filled with boba. I got the Black Diamond Black Tea which was too sweet ( get lower sugar levels ) and they made the drink quickly. There were two employees there and they worked really efficiently with one another. It took me about 5 minutes in and out to get a drink. The service was a little interesting. I'm not quite sure if the employees were being attentive or impatient. I was looking at the menu for about 2 - 3 minutes and they asked me 3 separate times if I was ready to order yet. They didn't have anyone else there so I was a little confused why they kept on asking. Drinks cost about $7 - $7.50. $7 is pretty standard for a drink nowadays.
