Wow! This place was outstanding!! We came here for a group event and they handled us perfectly. AMBIANCE: This place is absolutely beautiful. The vibes in this place gets you going from the start. There is plenty of seating and every seat is visually satisfying. The bar is also huge with a great selection of liquid appetizers ;) SERVICE: Superb!! Everyone was so great. We arrived a little early and they took care of us right away. Our server Mohi was very friendly and attentive and the team Host, servers and their great Sommelier took care of our large group effortlessly. FOOD: This evening was so delicious that I am sad that I don't have a Toca close to my house. We tried a little bit of everything as you will see from the pictures. Everyone was so happy with their food and dessert was a perfect send off. (Oh and the drinks were very tasty) If you haven't tried Toca Madera yet - you are missing out on great food, music and atmosphere. They had live music and even have a DJ on some nights. (And check out the speakeasy - if you can find it) shhhh

I have visited Scottsdale a few times in the past couple of years, and Toca Madera has been on my to do list. Well, now they are in Houston with their third and largest location. I was more than excited to finally check them out for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We made reservations weeks in advance and had just a slight wait once we arrived. Parking options are valet or a paid parking lot behind the restaurant. If I remember correctly, valet ends up being cheaper and more convenient. First impressions just walking up was how sexy this place was from the patio to the entrance. Once I walked inside, I was immediately impressed by everything from the look of the place to the overall ambience and vibe. It definitely screams fine dining. From the minute we walked in until the time we walked out, we received great customer service. I wish I knew our servers name, but I'm not sure we ever got it. He, along with a wonderful team of folks helped us throughout. Not only are you dining nice, you are also entertained throughout dinner. From other reviews, some say they didn't get that, but we had a beautiful performer doing things with fire while another talented young man played electric guitar walking around the restaurant. On top of that, birthday celebrations had sparklers, while flaming shots and drinks were being lit in all directions. It got just a tad bit stuffy in there at one point from all the fire. Between my friends and I, we tried quite a few different drinks. I started off with a Carajillo while waiting on our table. Like I mentioned before, alot of these drinks come with a little wow factor. This one came out plated on a vessel that had dry ice in it which made it smoke when they added water to it. After I was seated I had the Ghost Rider which a nice, refreshing tequila drink that came out flaming. Who would've thought it? To close out my meal, I had the Scorched Earth which was a smoked Old Fashioned that came out beautifully presented as well. All the drinks were good, but extremely over priced. On to the food. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were excellent and elevated. The salsa was more like a pico de gallo, but it was so very good. We were ready for entrees and skipped apps. Most of the table went with the taco flight where you get to pick four tacos out of sea bass, arrachera (avacado taco), truffle mushroom, and al pastor. I tried to get my money's worth on these tacos and went with the fish, mushroom and al pastor tacos. For the price, I would expect some rice and beans, but those were a la carte. We ended up getting street corn, cilantro lime rice and black beans. The tacos were good. Each one had delicious fillings, but my favorite was the sea bass because the flavors on it were outstanding. It had a kick to it which I love, but some of my dining companions thought was too spicy. All the sides were excellent as well with the cilantro lime rice really standing out compared to the rest. We of course had to get some dessert for the birthday girl even though we were all stuffed. She got the Dama De Los Muertos. This thing was a piece of art. The flavor combination of peanut butter mousse, cocoa nibs and raspberry coulis was so delicious. Overall, a great time was had by all. Yes this place is expensive, but for the ambience and dining with a flare, it makes it kind of worth the price of admission. It it definitely not an every weekend meal for me, but I would come back for another special occasion.

Nut allergy friendly: I had no issues while at our event, even with the desserts! Parking: Painful, we did valet for $10+tax. Can request car through an app when you're ready to leave but we actually just took our keys and found our car ourselves because they got pretty backed up. We came to Toca Madera for a special event, and I have to say, it was one of the most well handled events I've ever been to from a service perspective. Their private room comfortably held 75+ people. They set up four tables comfortably spaced apart containing appetizers, skewers and light bites, a steak tenderloin and sides cutting table, and desserts. Very intimate seating and good music volume across the room. The bartenders were on top of their stuff and made consistent, good drinks. The waitstaff were exceptionally polite and on top of things - and I've got to give a particular shout-out for James, who made sure we never wanted for anything from water to drinks to new plates. As for food, I would say overall that things were VERY seasoned. The sauces helped offset what felt like a little too much saltiness in a few dishes (specifically the shrimp skewers). Chicken Skewers: 4/5 nice and tender, good size Shrimp Skewers: 3.5/5 without sauce, 4.5/5 with sauce - also very well sized and a nice tender bite The Truffle Quesadillas were some of the best surprise of the night. Deliciously umami and rich (5/5). Beef Tenderloin: 5/5 with the chimichurri, they cut it like a Brazilian steakhouse to provide cuts of all types, and the medium rare was exceptionally tender Seasonal vegetables were brussel sprouts, nice and tender and the sauce was great. Desserts - the Strawberry Tres Leches was our favorite (4.5/5), very moist and not too sweet. The Oaxacan chocolate mousse was beautiful and also had a bit of bitterness that was really good (4/5). Churros were great and had four dipping sauces, of which I really enjoyed the caramel (4/5). The brown butter cake was the weakest as it was quite dry, even with the cream (2/5). Drinks were also really good - they make some awesome cocktails with mezcal and did a very cool show for shots with cinnamon bursting into flames! Looking forward to coming back and heard their happy hour is great. Awesome that they're on inKind.

VALET IS THE WORST PART!! Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and genuinely friendly staff. The space and overall vibe are top-notch. That said, the drink service was frustratingly slow. Even with the restaurant less than half full, it took 20+ minutes to get drinks--and the same delay happened when we ordered a second round during the meal. At these prices, faster service would definitely lead to ordering more. Speaking of pricing... $450 for 4 people having just two rounds of drinks and appetizers felt excessive. The biggest downside, though, is the valet. There's no option to self-park, so you're forced to use it. The pricing isn't transparent--what's listed as $15 ends up closer to $20 with fees, and they only accept credit cards (while still charging a service fee). On top of that, the process is inefficient and the staff came off as rude. Even requesting the car in advance didn't help, and we were told to walk to another area to retrieve it. Overall: great ambiance and people inside, but slow drink service, high prices, and a frustrating valet experience would make me think twice about coming back.

Fish was amazing, sides were very good. Chicken parm was tasty too. Definitely quite an experience. The music was way too loud which was a shame. Good service. Worth $200+ for 2 people and $25/ drink? No.

Toca Madera absolutely delivers an unforgettable experience every time. The atmosphere is everything--sexy, vibrant, and perfectly curated whether you're planning a romantic date night or heading out for a fun girls' night. The lighting, music, and overall energy create a whole vibe that feels upscale yet still inviting. The food and drinks are just as impressive as the ambiance--every dish is not only flavorful but beautifully presented, making it feel like a full sensory experience. From the cocktails to the entrées, you can tell there's real attention to detail. If you're looking for a place that combines great energy, stunning aesthetics, and delicious food, Toca Madera is definitely the spot.

100% YES! Is it pricey.... VERY. But was it phenomenally good, unique, and great Birthday dinner with my husband...ABSOLUTELY! We made reservations cuz well...ya have to! It gets crowded but there is valet parking! Started the night at the bar while we waited (12min past our reservation time) for our table. The bartender was skilled, the drinks were delicious & adorned to please the aesthetics. The ambience of the whole place is cool, its dark lit, music was a lil too loud - hard to have a convo, decor & design were unique and beautiful & trendy/hip. Think like Earthy, Upscale Mexican Cuisine. The hall way from main room & bar into big dinning area was cool. I preferred sitting in the bar room, the other room was not as uniquely designed & lots of mirror. Our waitress was great! She immediately brought fresh chips & pico de Gallo (as a dip) - it was so crips and fresh. We ordered calamari app - that was just ok. But I ordered the Branzino (fish) as my dish and OMG! My husband got the lobster enchiladas - HIGHLY RECOMMEND that too. It was filled with lump meat not cheese plus comes with rice & beans. We wanted to try the mash potatoes & macaroni so ordered that too. We chose to skip desert because we were full and nothing appealed. I really wanted to try a Carajillo from there but the bar was super slow and took 20 min to get my 2nd margarita so we were done eating by then. We most def recommend this place for a special occasion.

Ahhhh, Mexican fine dining. What a treat. Mexican food easily sits in my top five favorite cuisines, so I will admit it does not take much to win me over. That said, I can absolutely tell the difference between elite and average. As you can probably tell from the photos attached to this review, this place is very Instagram and social media ready. With restaurants like this, there is always a concern that more attention is paid to aesthetics than to food quality. While this spot does not fully fall into that trap, there is still some room for improvement. Like most restaurants in this area, valet parking is offered. The pricing can feel a bit absurd when you watch them park your car just a few feet from the entrance, something you could easily do yourself. That said, the convenience of not having to search for parking, especially if you are running late for a reservation, does carry some value. The establishment itself is undeniably fancy. The decor is beautiful, most guests are dressed up, and the wait staff is professional. The drinks are strong and well made. They start you off with chips and salsa, which may honestly be some of the best I have ever had. I had to stop myself from eating too much before our entrees arrived. The menu is fairly typical for a restaurant of this caliber, and the pricing reflects that. This is not an everyday dinner spot by any means. It is clearly geared toward special occasions, which is why we chose it for our anniversary. I visited back in June, and while I cannot recall my exact entree, I do remember enjoying it. It did not completely blow me away, especially considering the price point, but it met my expectations. Would we go again? Yes. Would it be for a special occasion? Possibly. Would I come here for a casual Saturday dinner? Definitely not. Is it Elite or average? The food is probably average, but the establishment itself is definitely elite. If you are looking to dress up, feel fancy, take Instagram worthy photos, and do not mind spending some money, you will likely enjoy this place.

From the moment you walk up to Toca Madera, it truly feels like you've been transported out of Houston and into a tropical resort. The entryway and interior decor are stunning and immediately set the tone for a unique upscale dining experience. We came here on a Sunday to celebrate our anniversary and were greeted with champagne as we sat down, which was a nice touch! The lighting was very romantic with a dimly lit atmosphere, and the music fit the vibe perfectly. It was a bit loud, but we could still comfortably hear each other. Our server was very knowledgeable and took the time to walk us through the menu, offering great recommendations. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were perfectly crispy, and the salsa tasted incredibly fresh. I ordered a dirty martini, which was excellent. For appetizers, we had the tostaditas, which were very flavorful. I definitely recommend the short rib one. From the raw bar, we ordered the ceviche blanco, which was tangy and filled with fresh sea bass, and the flavors paired well together. Super refreshing! For the main course, we both ordered from the "members only" menu. (Note: We are not members, but our server mentioned that we could still order from it.) I got the lobster enchiladas while my fiancé ordered the wagyu fajitas. Both dishes were of great portion sizes. My enchiladas were filled with juicy lobster and came with rice and beans. His meal was very substantial and came with homemade tortillas, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and the wagyu. We also ordered the truffle mac and cheese and whipped potatoes for the table. The mac and cheese is a MUST TRY! It had the perfect amount of truffle flavor and was incredibly creamy. Definitely one of the best we've had. The whipped potatoes were soft, fluffy, and had a great buttery flavor. For dessert we settled on the brown butter cake, which they brought out with a sparkler for our anniversary. The toffee sauce was infused with bourbon and paired perfectly with the rich vanilla bean ice cream. This was such a memorable and upscale dining experience. We loved the decor, the service, and the overall atmosphere, and will definitely be coming back!

From the dramatic lighting to the curated soundtrack, the ambiance sets a tone of refined indulgence. Every detail feels intentional -- layered textures, statement design, and a dining room that hums with confidence. The ceviche arrives vibrant and pristine -- citrus-kissed, impeccably fresh, delicately balanced with heat and brightness. A true opener that signals you're in capable hands. The Brussel sprouts are elevated far beyond expectation -- caramelized edges, crisp exterior, tender center, finished with a nuanced sweet-savory glaze that lingers beautifully. The flat iron steak is executed with precision. Perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and plated with sophistication. Each slice carries that ideal char -- restrained, intentional, refined. And the street corn? Smoky, creamy, subtly indulgent. Familiar comfort, reimagined with polish. Presentation is where Toca Madera truly distinguishes itself. Each plate is composed with artistic precision -- dramatic without being excessive. It feels curated. Houston has no shortage of dining options. But this is where you go when you want the room to feel elevated.

We celebrated our anniversary at Toca Madera this year. It's been one of Houston's hottest spots since opening, so I was excited to finally try it. We booked through InKind to take advantage of a limited offer and were seated right away. Unfortunately, we didn't love our table. It was a two-seater in a semi-shared space with a long cushioned bench on one side and chairs on the other. We decided to stay put and enjoy the night. On the bright side, we had a nice view of the live entertainment. Food and drinks were solid across the board, even the complimentary chips and pico. For dinner, we went for a surf-and-turf vibe, splitting the fish and steak. Both were great, and the sides were tasty too, except for the mashed potatoes, which were overly salty and watery. Our server, Sammie, was fantastic ...attentive, friendly, and made the evening special by surprising us with a complimentary anniversary dessert. All in all, we enjoyed our time and the food but felt it was slightly overpriced. We would go back but not sure how often. Maybe I'll check out happy hour one day.

They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!

Great bar Met some…read morefriends here after dinner. They were packed and boomin when we arrived. Dj set up right behind us and got the night started right. Even though the place was completely full, the service was still quick and really good. They brought out more chairs to accommodate our growing party and we never had to wait long for drinks. After about an hour, we slid through the back door and into the speakeasy. This portion of the bar was equally impressive and had the same high end vibe. More great service, more great drinks. Some Louis XIII may have been poured- which came with white glove service and a complete history lesson btw lol Literally zero complaints. Just a great night out.

I want no one to know about this place.. BUT... it's important to not gate keep, LOL. Love…read moreStarduster Lounge. First, they have parking.. it was easy for us to find a spot on a Friday night. They do check IDs at the door, and it's Ssmall inside with intimate vibes, and plenty of outdoor seating. Great for a date night.. and I really like the furniture and decor. They have an Espresso Martini Drink on TAP and it's VERY GOOD. Service was quick and friendly. I read on their sign that they are doing a Steak Night soon, and I can't wait to see the pricing and how that tastes. Love that it's in my neighborhood, and such a fun place to go to. Check them out!

Stopped in for a drink after work, thankfully not too far away from where I work in downtown…read more A big win for me was that they have designated parking, I had parked but wasn't sure and then saw Dylan, bartender, and I asked him and he said I was fine in the parking lot next to the bar, and that they also had parking across the street on Enid St. For me that's one thing that's important is to have parking. Midtown with their questionable parking makes me not want to go. Upon entering, the place is a nice, intimate setting, with a handful of seating areas along with bar and outside seating. Recommend bringing a light jacket as it was a bit cold. The menu had a variety of offerings, and noted that all drinks are $12. They are card only, so bring your card or tap to pay and also your ID. Because they are 3 feet from a school and are considered a private club, they comply with TABC regulations to ensure safety and efficiency in their business. From the variety of the drinks, I opted for my signature drink, an Old Fashioned, it definitely had a bite to it. I slowly sipped on it while I lounged in one of the seating areas. My sister tried the Starduster Ranch Water, and she didn't like it, I had a sip of it and it tasted like only way I can describe is like soap. Saw that they also have Mocktails and THC Beverages, I didn't try any of them. We headed out as we were trying to grab dinner and Starduster doesn't currently offer food. I did get to speak with Dylan again outside and he clued me in on a couple of things they are planning to do such as having food trucks and also open the upstairs for additional space. Overall, I know being new (had just opened last week) there are many things being worked on and do hope that things improve here and they add additional seating, it got busy for a bit and seating was standing only. Thankfully I was there early enough and got a nice cozy seating area. I removed a star because both my drink and my sister weren't really anything special, it tasted like they were premade and poured from a tap, I missed seeing each one be made. I did like that there aren't TV's inside, it helps maintain the personal interactions natural and focused. Outside they do have TV's which makes sense for bigger groups. Though the seating is limited inside, likely to maintain it as a cozy and intimate space, outside has a lot of seating AND they are PET FRIENDLY! In cold weather without heating lamps, don't think anyone would really sit out there. Once spring and summer arrive, it will be nice. On their menu they indicate "Weekly Specials" Spaghetti Western Sundays Monday Night Steak Night (not sure why it wasn't happening the day I was there, would've enjoyed some steak) Tarot Tuesdays Whiskey Wednesday

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. Between the drinks, the atmosphere, and the service, this place really gets it right.

It's a little small inside and a small parking lot, but if you're lucky and can walk there, do! The quality of the drinks are really excellent and the burgers have been voted some of the best in town! I can't speak for them, but the drinks and the spot, are phenomenal. They have bingo nights, dj nights, and other themed events that keep the place packed out. Maybe once I try the burgers, it'll be 5 stars, but the smallll parking lot and lack of safe street parking keep me at 4.
