This cafe is located inside Super Nintendo World, right next to Mario Kart Bowser's challenge. It's very busy during peak lunch and dinner hours, so reservation is highly recommended to dining during those times. We arrived at the cafe on our reserved time and walked to the ordering area. There were two lanes open but moves super slow as they prepare the drinks at the counter for everyone. We waited about 10 minutes to put in our order. In the menu they had some starter items, burgers, pastas, desserts and drinks. Some souvenir dining sets were available for purchase too. After ordering our meal, we walked into the dining area. The whole space was imitating the world of Toadstool. It was really cool to see. But we had to wait around 20 minutes to get our food. Once the food came, they actually looked so cute. There was a Mario mustache on the burger. Princes peach cake had a crown. The burger, corn and broccoli were decent. The cake was very sweet. They were expensive as expected. Overall it is a good dining option, better than some of the other ones in the area. But during busy hours be prepared to wait for long time both for ordering and getting the food.
I highly recommend to make reservation for the cafe. It's very popular. The staff checked us in then we waited in line to order food. Once order was put in, we brought the ticket to another staff to be seated. Honestly we waited a good while for the food to come out and the place wasn't even full. Screens around the dining hall showing the Toads making your food. The light changed from bright to dark when Bullet Bill was chasing them. Kids burger was dry. The cookie was super sweet. Good amount of broccoli and corn for nutrition balance tho. Mario burger wasn't too bad. Buns were decorated like Mario. The frosting on Princess Peach cake was very sweet. The sponge and jam inside was good. Overall it's more the atmosphere than the food. Cool to visit it at least for once.
Baby one thing about Toadstool Cafe is that they are NOT letting you in without a reservation. They guard that door like it's Bowser's secret lair chile! So make sure you get on the Universal app as soon as you know you're coming. I got there around 7:45ish and was able to score a same day reservation for me and my friend for 2 PM. Once you go inside, you wait in line to order, but they have menus available so you can look everything over and decide what you want while you wait. After fawning over a few choices, we asked the man ringing us up what he thought the best items were. He recommended the Fire Flower Spaghetti & Meatballs, Luigi Burger, and ? Block Tiramisu. So we each got one of the recommended entrées, split the dessert, and added some Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots because we were in a silly goofy mood. After ordering, they give you a table number and you find a seat in the large dining area. We didn't wait long for our food at all, maybe 10 to 15 minutes max. I really enjoyed my food, and my friend said he enjoyed his Luigi Burger as well. Was it the pinnacle of culinary perfection? No. But it was still pretty good for amusement park food and definitely better than a lot of food I've had at other amusement parks over the years. The theming and presentation also make the experience that much more fun. The ? Block Tiramisu was the star of the entire meal for me. The sugar cookie panels that make up the Question Block were SO good with the tiramisu inside. I would absolutely get that again. All in all, I definitely say add Toadstool Cafe to your Super Nintendo World itinerary if you can score a reservation. The food was good, the presentation was adorable, and it's one of those experiences that really adds to being inside the world of Mario.
We made reservations through the Universal Studios app while waiting in line at the Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge ride for an early lunch time at 11:45am. We arrived 1/2 an hour early and were able to go in as there weren't anybody waiting. We placed our orders at the counter, received a number and waited to be seated. Our orders were brought to our table. The dining area was cute, clean, spacious, and nicely air conditioned! There is a self-service station for condiments, napkins and utensils. The food and drinks were great! We enjoyed the Luigi Burger (pesto grilled chicken) and Mario Burger (bacon, mushroom, cheese) which came which truffle fries, the Super Star Lemon Squash (honey lemon soda, mango stars, assorted boba), and coffee. I do high recommend making reservations and off peak times (if possible) as place gets really busy.
Finally checked out Toadstool Cafe! The wait was definitely long, and honestly, the food was just okay. But if you've got kiddos with you, it's still a fun stop and the experience makes it worth checking out at least once. We had the Mario Burger, kids spaghetti, kids burger, and to start the show, the Princess Peach Cupcake. The cupcake was definitely a hit and probably the highlight of the meal! Overall, I'd say come for the experience and the kids, not necessarily for the food. The little ones had a great time, and that's what counts!
I really wanted to like Toadstool Cafe, but the experience was honestly pretty frustrating, especially considering the price and the fact that this is at Universal Studios. The cafe is reservation-only, and you have to sign up ahead of time. There's also a maximum of six people per reservation, but our party had seven. That meant we had to have two different people make reservations--one for three and another for four--which was already an unnecessary hassle. Once our reservation time came, we were let inside, only to wait 20 minutes in line just to order. So what exactly is the point of having reservations if they're still allowing the restaurant to get so backed up? It felt like they were over capacity anyway. The food itself is probably some of the best food you can get inside the theme park, and the prices are about what you'd expect from a theme park. We were also seated pretty quickly, which was nice. Unfortunately, that's where the good service ended. They forgot two of our orders, and we ended up waiting around 40 minutes while the other five people in our party had already finished eating. We eventually had to flag down a server to ask about our food, and somehow, it was brought out within a minute. So the food was clearly ready or easily accessible--they had just completely forgotten about our order. That 40-minute wait was such a waste of our time. We were at Universal Studios and could have been using that time to enjoy the park or go on other rides instead of just sitting there waiting for food. On top of that, the servers/waiters didn't have the friendliest attitudes, which made the experience even more disappointing. I'd say go once for the experience, especially if you want the cute Super Mario atmosphere and pictures, but don't go in expecting great service. For the price you're paying, I honestly expected a lot more from Universal. If takeout were an option, I would probably choose that instead.
This place is adorable! We ended up getting reservations the morning of on the app. There was 11 of us so we made two. We got there around the time of our reservation but waited in line about 20 minutes or so to order. I had the spaghetti, parmesan bites and one of their sodas. The soda was good and had jelly at the bottom. Spaghetti was ok, they said it would be spicy but I didn't notice much spice. The Parmesan bites were good but maybe needed a bit more seasoning. Overall the ambiance is why you come. The menu has fun items but not the best tasting overall.
What a fun place to eat at Universal! Good variety and menu if you want something different than the usual chicken tenders or burgers that you can get elsewhere. Our timing worked out such that we finished up Mario Kart and headed over. Even though we were a bit past our reservation time, they were kind enough to let us in. Other reviewers are correct in that you need the reservation to enter the line to order at the counter, and then wait to get seated, and I must admit we waited quite awhile for our food to arrive to our table (just warm if that, certainly not piping hot as if it was just prepared, hence minus a star). The super star lemonade drink with the mango bits and popping boba was 5 stars and a definite re-order next time we are there. The kids meals were perfect portion size and love the garlic knot and cookie. Yoshi fettucine with chicken and broccoli was eaten clean. Bowser's fireball is no joke - be prepared for some heat. Luigi chicken burger was pleasant surprise (love the bell pepper touch, and the fries were so good). Tiramisu was so good too! Ambiance while waiting (for us 1st timers) was super fun to see the lighting and "windows" come to life with Toads working and running around outside. Will definitely come back next time!
Came here back in March to celebrate two of my kids birthdays. My family loved the creativity of the themed food. My between my kids, they had spaghetti and burgers. They had mixed feeling about the spaghetti but loved the burgers. They absolutely loved the desserts. I was impressed with the burgers and fries myself. Sometimes theme restaurants put more effort into the visual, and not the quality of the food. This place made sure the food would worth the price. The cashiers were working so hard with the amount of people that were there. It was packed. They showed a lot of patience as we seemed to take forever with our orders. Would go again.
As an avid Super Nintendo/Super Mario lover growing up, this Toadstool Cafe was thee CUTEST restaurant concept ever! Keeping in mind that you're dining inside an amusement park, IMO, the food quality is still the BEST food option in the whole park. It's worth it for the immersive atmosphere, novelty, and overall experience. My fam loves eating here for dinner to end our night after a full day of rides & fun. TIP: I always make a reservation ahead of time (usually the day prior) thru the Universal Studios app, so it's one less wait we have to deal with, and the check-in process is effortless. Service is very minimal ~ you order at the counter, wait to get seated, and the food is served to your table. Dishes we've tried & our thoughts: *Super Mushroom Soup ~ a fam fav! (but it does sell out) *Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots ~ cheesy/buttery goodness *Piranha Plant Caprese ~ my son LOVES this salad and gives it a thumbs up *Mario Burger ~ my hubs says it's solid *Fire Flower Spaghetti & Meatballs ~ honestly, my fav & go-to every time I dine here. It has a spicy lil kick in the marinara sauce, which makes it so unique, memorable & yums *Yoshi Mushroom Alfredo ~ my son ate it up lol (which means it must be good) *Power-up Spaghetti Marinara ~ my daughter likes this kids menu item, as it has the perfect proportion of food for her & the marinara sauce isn't spicy like the full order *Block Tiramisu ~ I always have room for dessert, and this was too cute to pass up. The tiramisu, layered w/coffee-soaked ladyfingers, wasn't too sweet, but I do always have to toss out some of the cream cuz it's a lil too much for me *Super Star Lemon Squash specialty drink ~ surprisingly refreshing & SO cute, w/ the mango stars and assorted tropical bobas All in all, RxFoodie recommends (at least to try once) ~ for the cute ambience, pic opps & quality of food for the usual amusement park prices.
If you are looking for really good food with fantastic service, go elsewhere. BUT...... if you find yourself in Universal Studios CA and make it to the Super Nintendo World, make sure to make a reservation to eat at the toadstool cafe. Folks, you have the opportunity to eat the ambiance of Nintendo land. Overall, food was probably the best in the park, but that's a pretty low bar. I got the Bowser spicy meatball. It came with a puff pastry shaped like Bowser. The spicy part was the buffalo sauce you can mix into the tomato sauce. The meatball was huge, 1 lb, and it was pretty good. My kid had the spaghetti and meatball. We also got the soup that came with a take home bowl what's shaped like a power-up mushroom. Overall, a fun experience, great ambiance, okay food. Tip: if you think you are going to go, download the universal studio app and make a reservation at least a day before. By the morning of your visit, most of the good slots are gone
Took my kids to universal and wanted to try out the new dining area inside of Mario world! Reservation recommended! The restaurant itself is huge! So many seatings and it's beautiful! So whimsical I love it! The food itself was good surprisingly! We had the tomato soup in a cute mushroom bowl that we can keep! So cute.. the soup was a bit on the sour tomato side. I just ate it with the broccoli on the kids burger plate lol. My son had the toad's special chicken plate.. the chicken was a small thigh piece with some roasted potatoes with cheese and tomato slices cooked in a mushroom sauce of some sort. It was tasty! We also had the fettuccine plate which was not bad at all! We did order 1 dresser to try.. the bean pile cake .. that wasn't that good. I'll pass on that next time. Overall it was a cute experience and love that the cute mushroom bowl was a keepsake
We got there around 8:30AM and it was not busy at all. I can't have dairy, so the vegan tomato soup was great. It even came with a bowl to take home. They also provided a box to keep it in. My husband had the Luigi chicken burger and it was good as well! Every now and then, the lights dim and something happens with lots of thunder. It's a full-on toad experience!
Toadstool Cafe is the new restaurant in Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios. You have to make a reservation the day of and the wait is super long. Dining at this cafe takes longer than any ride in the whole Universal Studios Park. The first time we came here, we waited 3 hours for our reservation time. Then, we waited in a long line to order. After ordering and getting a table, we had to wait super long for our food to arrive. Insane amount of time spent dining at Toadstool Cafe. We ordered the Mario Burger ($16.99), Luigi Burger ($16.99), Piranha Plant Caprese ($16.99), Fire Flower Spaghetti and Meatballs ($16.99), and the Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots ($5.99). The Mario Burger came with bacon, mushrooms, and truffle fries. It was pretty good. The Luigi Burger was a pesto grilled chicken burger and tasted good. I loved the dipping sauce for the truffle fries. The Piranha Plant Caprese was actually really cute to look at. The flavor was okay. The cheesy garlic knots just tasted like plain bread. There was not much cheese or garlic flavor. For the fire flower spaghetti and meatballs, we substituted regular marinara sauce so it was not spicy. The spaghetti and meatballs were not bad. Overall, the food at Toadstool Cafe was pretty decent, but the wait to dine was much too long. They did a good job of turning the eats into Mario themed items. read more
Definitely a great place to try if you're able to get reservations. The restaurant is so cute. The food was pretty good. Garlic knots are great. The short rib special was pretty good although some components were a bit cold. They Mario Burger was pretty standard but the fries were stellar! Crinkle cut fries are usually the worst type of fry, but these were the best I've ever had. They're truffle flavored and perfectly crispy! The cupcake was covered with over the top frosting which made it overly sweet that your teeth will hurt. The cupcake itself was funfetti and pretty standard. The popping boba was delicious. So cute! My first time! I see why some Yelpers just think it's a meh experience, but if you love Super Mario, you at least have to come here once. I'm giving it 5 stars to up the overall rating because the average of 3 stars just doesn't do it justice. Ease of entry: Pretty easy at non-peak times. We reserved for 4 pm on Mother's Day. I fully enjoyed my experience. For timed entry, get there a little beforehand (we got there 10 to 12 min beforehand), and there was not much wait. They let us in at 3:57 pm. Ambiance: I love toadstools! Theme so reminiscent of my Nintendo days in the late 80s to early 90s, that I can't help but love it. Check out the videos on the walls of the walking toadstools! Service: Slow, but with a smile! Staff are really nice. They are working the hardest they can. Food: - Mario Burger - a standard burger with fries - Super Mushroom Soup - a little on the salty side - Super Star Lemon Squash - a super sweet drink with popping boba - ? Block Tiramisu - nothing special Price: Yes, on the pricier side. Overall: Yelpers like good quality and good value. Quality and price value are what the other Yelpers said, so I know why it gets 3 stars overall. However, as I'm on of the nicer Yelpers, and as this cafe just takes me back to my younger years, it is a 5 star in my book. The burger was pretty good and the fries were yummy! I love the presentation of the food and the ambiance definitely made the experience worth it. In maybe 20 - 30 minute intervals the room changes in color and we get to see a story animation on the windows. For dessert we got the tiramisu and the princess peach cupcake. The cupcake was beautiful and from looks alone was worth it, however it was so stacked with sugary sweet frosting that I had to bring the cupcake home and eat it over a week. I would say that the service was outstanding, my cupcake tilted over but they were so kind in replacing it with a new one. Overall the ambiance and experience made eating at the cafe worth it! read more
I have several dietary restrictions and saw the gluten-free dairy free options on the universal Studios app when searching for dining. I was really excited to try toadstool café because the food looked higher quality than other dining options on the property. It was really just OK... They have a reservation system, which is actually really helpful if you don't mind thewait. Once inside, the lines were pretty long to order despite the limited entry and we waited nearly 40 minutes to get our food. The tiny ramekin of tomato soup was super expensive because it came in a commemorative mushroom bowl, which was made out of cheap plastic that I would not want to use and contaminate my future food. It was cute, but really didn't appreciate this as there was no option to pay less for soup without the mushroom bowl. Though expensive, the burger and short ribs special were actually pretty good, especially for theme park dining. The beanpole cake was pasty and thick, do not recommend. read more

My recommendation to those who want to land a desired reservation time. When the park opens, go to Super Nintendo World, scan the QR code at the entrance, and make a reservation. This place gets busy quickly! I booked a reservation for six people for 12:15 pm at 10 am. You first order your food at the front counter, and then you wait to be seated by the hostess. The hostess will take you to your table. We waited around 5-10 minutes to be seated. You need patience coming here; you must wait for a table and food. By 12:30 pm, they sold out the kid's menu. So we just ordered our kids Mario burger combos. My boyfriend and I ordered the Mario Burger and shared the Piranha Plant Caprese. I wasn't a fan of this starter. The Mario burger was surprisingly delicious. We expected the food to be mediocre, but the only great thing was the Mario burger. We also ordered the Mt. Beanpolo Cake; it was disappointing. Don't come here expecting to have the best meal of your life. In all honestly, you come here for the experience. The type of experience you can say you tried this place at least once. read more
We wanted to try this place for the experience, since we missed our reservation the last time we came, because we were stuck in a long line for a ride. We made the reservation online. We came on to check-in for our reservation. Then we had to get in another long line to wait to get in another line to order our food. Then someone guides us to which line to get in to order our food. Price are decent for being at the theme park. My cousin and I ordered the Fire Flower Spaghetti & Meatballs for $16.99. Then, they give you any drinks you order, and a number. Then you get in another small line to wait to be seated. Our seats were still wet from being cleaned, so luckily I had napkins on me. Then we waited a bit of time for our food. By the time we got our food from when we checked into the restaurant was 45 min, and seemed longer because we came starving. We were surprised the spaghetti was actually flavorful, and it was fulfilling. My cousin thought the meatballs were tasty, but I thought they were a bit dry. Overall, cute place, and fun experience, and not sure if I need to experience again. read more

Finally got reservations to dine at the Toadstool Cafe! This place seems to always be fully booked the past two years of going as pass holders. Wish there were more non-mushroom items but the Luigi Burger was pretty good and the meals are all Super Mario themed. The cafe is super cute too with toads everywhere on the interactive window screens. Service was pretty quick; it's just a simple order and they deliver the food to your table. Cool place to eat at at least once, especially if you have kids and reasonably priced. It's lit! read more

I'll admit, you don't come here for the quality of the food... it's all about the cuteness! A full experience at Super Nintendo World (SNW) is not complete without a meal at Toadstool Café. Reservations open up at 8:00A the day of, so head straight to the QR codes at the entrance of SNW to secure a spot. I selected in the form that it was our "First Visit", but I didn't end up getting anything special by choosing that option. Maybe they are just tracking the number of new customers. At our designated time, we entered and I was overwhelmed with how adorable everything was. Guests are welcomed by Chef Toad (on the screen) and all around the restaurant, videos playing in the windows give you a glimpse into Toad's Kitchen and the daily life as the Toads roam around Mushroom Kingdom. Have I mentioned the cuteness? After ordering at the counter, one of the hosts led us to our table and we waited for about 20 minutes before all of our food arrived at once. Considering how crowded it was, the wait wasn't too bad, plus you have all the Toads to watch on the screens for entertainment. + CHEESY GARLIC KNOTS ($5.99): Four pieces of bread in mushroom shapes, brushed with garlic butter and coated in parmesan cheese, served with a side of marinara sauce. It was a good starter as the bread was light and pillowy. + TOAD'S SHORT RIB SPECIAL ($24.99): A braised short rib on top of goat cheese polenta, surrounded by a red wine reduction with dollops of what tasted like a crème fraiche sauce. The short rib itself was pretty good and tender, and the polenta was alright although I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese in general. However, I'd call the red wine reduction more of a gravy, which was quite salty. I wish the plate included some sort of vegetable to balance it out. + MARIO BURGER ($16.99): A bacon mushroom cheeseburger with truffle fries. I didn't try the burger, but the fries were so crispy and addicting! This meal is definitely more filling than the short rib. + MT. BEANPOLE CAKE ($9.99): Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry layered cake with a matcha cream on top. The matcha flavor was more prominent than expected (a pleasantly surprise) and the cake was nice and light. + ? BLOCK TIRAMISU ($9.99): A small square of tiramisu encased in butter cookies to resemble a question block. I enjoyed the ladyfingers-to-cream ratio and the coffee flavor came through, but the cookies were on the bland side. Sadly, there were more cookies than cake. Overall, while we weren't wowed by the food, it was still worth coming for the experience. As a side note, both the Mt. Beanpole Cake and Mario Burger came with little plastic decor that you can take home. That said, we now have a Mario hat and Mario flag in the soil of a couple of our house plants! read more

First time at Universal and the Toadstool cafe. This was definitely an experience. While everything, to be expected, is a bit expensive, the food was a lot better than we all expected! I got the Luigi burger which was a grilled chicken pesto sandwich. It was quite delicious and fresh. The fries were good but the seasoning was a bit odd for me. The tiramisu was decent but definitely had better. The presentation was fantastic though, I can't lie! The service was cordial and the overall experience was excellent. read more

I had the Yoshi mushroom Alfredo and it was better than I had expected. I mean it tasted like every other store bought fettuccine Alfredo but it was pretty good. I didn't eat the Yoshi egg and mushroom but the chicken and broccoli were soft and tasty. My only complaint was that some of the broccoli came out big so I had to cut it with a knife. A little pricey but it's expected. It was $16.99. Presentation was very cute and I love the super Mario spin on it. It was very creative. The place itself was really nice. The atmosphere was immersive and clean. Really cool. I'd say it's worth going at least once. I went at 9am on a Sunday, there was barely anyone in the restaurant. No wait time. read more
Toadstool Cafe was a wonderful sit down experience that exceeded all expectations. We had a wonderful dining experience with Satoshi and will remember this forever. Thank you for making us feel special and checking in on us. The Bowser's Fireball Challenge was a 3 out of 5. It's a massive meatball with some cheese on top that's a bit spicy. That's all. The flaky pastry has very little flavor but super cute anesthetics. Paying 10 more gets you the deep dish it comes in (the staff will get you a new one, you don't have to take the one you used to eat in). The Super Mushroom Soup was a 4 out of 5. It was delicious but such a small portion. Without paying anything extra, you get to keep the super cute mushrooms container it comes in. They give you a big, yellow question mark brick shaped carboard box to put it in. The Chef Toad Short Rib Special was a 5/5. Excellent flavor and texture. Small portion but super nice presentation. You do not get to keep this plate but you do have the option of buying a set with two of them at the cash register when you first place your order. I also got, for 20 bucks, the set of kids plates (you get two. There are pics attached to this review that shows them how they look). I find them more aesthetic than the regular plates (the ones that the Chef Toad Short Rib Special come in). I also got a coin-shaped cookie but haven't eaten it yet since it looks super nice. I might end up eating it since it will rot otherwise if I just keep it, lol. read more

This place is so fricken cute! We made sure to arrive right as the park opened so that we had enough time to run over to Nintendo World and scan the QR code for a reservation. I quickly scanned it and luckily there were still spots left so I booked the 11:15am one. Once our time came, we stood in line to enter the cute mushroom shaped restaurant. The host checked our confirmation txt before letting us in and once inside we waited in another line to order. We ordered: Mario Burger (Bacon, Mushroom & Cheese) - $16.99 All beef patty, bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, and American cheese served on a brioche bun with a side of truffle French fries Luigi Burger (Pesto Grilled Chicken) - $16.99 Grilled chicken, basil pesto, Swiss cheese, green pepper and spinach served on a brioche bun with a side of truffle French fries Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots (VG)- $5.99 Mini mushroom shaped knots brushed with garlic butter, parmesan cheese, parsley and a side of marinara sauce Two drinks ($5 each) My cousins order came out way before my food came out. I sat and waited about 15 minutes for my food to be brought out. The food was all good. The garlic knots' were delicious as they were warm, fluffy, and had a lot of flavor. The Mario burger was juicy and the meat was cooked well. The fries had a very nice crisp to them and they were hot. The experience was fun besides my food taking forever to be ready. Tip #1. As soon as you arrive in Super Nintendo World (SNW), go straight to Toadstool and scan the QR code outside. Then, select your reservation for Toadstool. Even if you're not hungry. Even if didn't know you wanted it -- you want a reservation. It's the only way to get in, and it's definitely worth the trip. Here for the vibes! Cute and immersive cafe -- comes about as close as you can imagine to emulating the Nintendo world. For once, I'm giving 5 stars not for the food, but for the experience and the atmosphere. We ordered quite a bit of food, and honestly, the food is quite good for an amusement park. I wouldn't say that any dishes are worth going all this way for, but it's no doubt yummy enough. What *is worth going for is the experience. * Alfredo pasta: Very tasty! The sauce is fresh, full of flavor, and plenty of variety in the dish's ingredients. * Salad: Pretty standard, a must have at this point in the trip because most places in Japan don't have greens. * Mushroom soup: Quite good. The bread was mid, but the soup was packed with flavor. Could do with a smidge less salt. * Tiramisu: I love Tiramisu generally. This was a typical slice of the dessert -- not particularly overwhelming. But good and what you might expect. Overall, the food was presented amazingly. Granted, it was more pricey than a dish of this caliber, but it was 100% worth it. Bought it for the pictures, and hey, we walked away pretty satisfied with our meal as a side effect. Tip #2. Don't expect to pay just for food. You're paying for the food + the experience + the cute meal. Every table waitstaff will ask you if you want a picture with the food. Yes, yes you do. The staff is incredibly organized. As others are saying, there's a QR code you need to scan outside. There's a nice, neat line up to the cashier. Then, there's a line to get seated. From start to finish, there are staff members to guide you from entrance to table. It's a "sit-down," except there's no need to interact extensively with waitstaff. Just point at dishes and say "I want this". Tip #3. The screens on the walls play a really silly sequence of clips, as toadstool cafe's village attacked, and the cafe's chefs evacuate. Highly recommend! I wouldn't go back per se, but it was definitely worth going to once in my life. read more
Was i super excited to eat food styled after the video game of my childhood? Yes! Overall the cafe was a solid three star experience. + Sit down dining + Cute ambiance with video screens along the wall depicting scenes from a toadstool village + Some of the food is super cute! Food tastes mostly just ok. Really on par with what you get at most theme park restaurants and similarly expensive. + The lemon squash drink was probably the best item I had. It was packed full of jelly bits and refreshing. The only downside was it was so full of jelly there wasn't quite enough actual beverage in it. +/- The tiramisu dessert is SUPER cute but flavor is meh. Didn't finish. + Truffle fries were good - Burger was meh. Didn't finish. I think if I was going to get a burger again I'd order the kids burger which came with a piece of corn on the cob. After a long day at Universal, we decided to finally sit down for a meal and powered up at Toadstool Cafe and I'm so glad we did! The ambiance is super cute with so much to see and enjoy inside the restaurant. The food was surprisingly very good (especially for a theme park). I had Luigi's Chicken Burger, which was delicious, and my friend ordered the Mario Burger and loved it. We also shared the Toadstool Garlic Knots, which we devoured since we were so hungry. The Caprese salad was pretty good as well and I also ordered a bubble tea with star shaped Boba, which was very good. The process works like this: you order on the app, wait in line for a table, and once seated, the food is prepared fresh. I'm not the biggest fan of app ordering, but it seems to be the new norm at theme parks. Thankfully, the wait wasn't too long, and the experience was absolutely worth it. Such good food and so so cute!! Big Nintendo fan, so I'm a little biased. We waited more than we expected too. We made a reservation during early access for 12:15 and ended up getting our food around 1:00. We waited in line to get in, waited in line to order, waited in line to be sat, and then waited for our food. In terms of drinks, there were not many options unfortunately. The water cups were small and you only got one, no refills anywhere to be found. The Super Star Lemon Squash drink was very good, lots of jelly and boba! Not much drink, unfortunately, especially for the price. We ordered the Mario and Luigi burgers, the Piranha Plant Caprese, Mt. Beanpole cake, and Tiramisu cake. Both cakes were phenomenal. The tiramisu was frozen, but I did not think that it took anything away from the taste or texture. The cookies around it had a nice snap and taste. The caprese had a lot of dressing and tasted great. All 4 of our burgers were a little dry, probably a bit overcooked. Mine had almost no sauce for the first half of it, which was strange to me, but the last half was perfect. Everything, EVERYTHING, was served cold including the short rib and polenta. And with the pay ahead at the counter setup, there isn't exactly a waiter or smooth process for sending food back to the kitchen. The garlic cheese bread were just dense mini dinner rolls, seriously don't order them. The Mario burger was standard. The mt. Beanpole cake was a little stale and gelatinous. The question mark tiramisu had nice cream but the lady fingers weren't soaked long enough and parts of it were dry. Everything was adorable and aesthetic, but the IG picture is what you're paying for. Do, however, order the super star lemon squash soda (lemon honey soda with mango stars and assorted tropical popping boba) even if it is a whopping $10. This was insanely refreshing and delicious and was the right level of sour and sweet. Too bad you can't order it outside of the Toadstool Cafe as of now! read more
An incredibly tasty and welcoming treat! Although my review might be a bit dated, I've heard positive things about several of the food establishments in the Universal Studios amusement park, and the Toadstool Cafe (along with the Three Broomsticks) stands at the top! The meatball I ordered was large, surprisingly spicy, and overall very delicious. The puff pastry and sauce were also tasty! The meal itself was fairly priced for an amusement store meal and I will be back if I ever stop by! read more
We had even a better experience than the first time. Arrived at reservation time at 2:15 pm and ordered almost immediately. Your entire party has to be present to be admitted. We had 2 meals, 1 kids meal, 1 dessert, and 3 drinks. It all came out fairly quick and we finished our meals in 45 mins. Love the vibe on a good sit down place away from the made rush of a theme park. It was booked out this time also. I recommend heading here first to grab a reservation for the day. My family and I visited Universal Studios last Wednesday and I one of my activity request was to dine at Toadstool Cafe. We entered the queue around 1pm and the soonish table for 3 was for 6:45, our group was able to go on a couple rides prior and ended up taking much longer at the Studio Tour than expected which resulted us in being about 30 min late the our reservation time. Luckily, we were still able to be served. It took an hour starting with waiting in line to order food at the counter to waiting in line to be seated and finally getting our food. The food was quite good considering its theme park food. The burger was good, I was worried it would be dry based on others review but my patty was juicy and not dry, I would have liked some extra sauce on the side or just more sauce on the burger. The fries that it came with on the side were great! The desert was hands good amazing, spongy and rich but not overly sweet! The interior was fun, we were seated against the far wall near an animated wall. I don't think I would come again because of the wait but I did enjoy the food and enjoyed the ambiance. read more
We were able to secure a reservation for the Toadstool Cafe during our visit to Universal Studios. Super Nintendo World was still fairly new and we were awestruck by the visually pleasing decorations at this area. Toadstool Cafe was no exception. The restaurant was filled with you guessed it, Toadstools. We liked the story along the walls of the Cafe where the Toadstools experience plight as Bower ravages their village, if I recall it correctly. The kids had hamburgers, some of the adults had salads and Bower's meatball and of course mushroom soup. Just like with other theme parks, the food was so-so at best. Typical suggestion of improvement is always better seasoning of the food. I would exclude however, the mushroom soup. It was subtlety delicious and creamy. read more

BEWARE if you 'RESERVED A TIME'. ADMISSION TO RESTAURANT NOT GUARANTEED. I went through all this trouble to 'secure' a spot at the infamous and newly opened toadstool cafe. Only to find this HUGE line of people. We had to get in line to reach the host, and when we did reach the host. The host said they couldn't seat us because the building was at capacity. Don't go to this location if you're expecting service at your seat. This is more for the scenery inside. You need to have a reservation prior to arrival, so make sure to book it as early as you can when entering the park. We lucked out and got a reservation for 3pm. They will not let you enter those doors until it's super close to your appointment. It doesn't stop there though - you wait in line once you enter those doors, where you order your food. Then wait AGAIN after you order your food. It's fairly irritating, tbh. Foodwise: - spaghetti with meatballs is slightly spicy, so do not order if you cannot tolerate spices. I found it good. - Mario burger comes with a good portion of seasoned fries (did not order this so cannot comment on taste) but the fries were decent - power up spaghetti - non-spicy version. It's supposed to be for kids meal but we ordered it anyways! It has a good portion so feel free to grab this if you want spaghetti without spice! - tiramisu - not worth the price. It's fairly small - bean pole cake - I enjoyed this and it's a good portion Overall the food was decent. Go here to checkout the ambiance since there is a small show on the pre-recorded panels around the room. read more

3.5 stars mostly for atmosphere and presentation. Instead of the QR code in front of the restaurant, google the site itself and make the reservation first thing when the park opens (usually 9am). The food is very cute and the decor and story telling screens keep you entertained while you wait and wait and wait for your food. The best thing I ate were the truffle fries. (They don't have ranch btw) Garlic knots were quite dense and tough. I'd rather have Hawaiian rolls. Even the cutlery had great theme details and I appreciated that they weren't plastic. A cute little gold coin was inside the question mark box that came with the meal. It was made of white chocolate covered cookie. Heavy on the chocolate. read more

Really delicious and highly recommended the Mario burger or the fries! Burger does have mushrooms but you don't taste them to much which I love because I don't like mushrooms that much. Drinks are a little small for the $5 price tag. Food took a little while to come even when they were not super busy. But vibes are cute and the screens on the wall replay after a while with bowser attacking etc read more

This is worst then waiting for the ride. If you want to visit a theme restaurant, this is where you want to be. If you want tasty food, well you may want to skip this place. First thing to do is get in line. There may be someone to direct you to a specific register line. We arrived early enough to pick where we wanted to order. After placing our order and getting my receipt, we waited in another line to be directed to a specific table. As party of 6, we waited a little longer than some parties. And then when seated, we surrender our receipt to wait for your food. 43 mins from Yelp checkin to getting our food, I was already exhausted. I was looking forward to a good meal. I'm still looking after visiting this place. Everything was plain. I understand chefs not adding a lot of salt for people's dietary needs but some salt would be good. I did the meatball challenge, and I don't know what kind of meat, I was eating. I don't even know if it was fully cooked?!?!? Garlic bread was missing two things. The garlic and taste. And the tomato soup was well, I got a cool souvenir bowl at least. Overall two stars. I got a cool souvenir bowl and plate. Saving grace was dessert. M read more
Starting off with the good things: interior is super cute and their fruity drink is enjoyable! Bad things: line was sooooo long to order and get a table despite the reservation we made. Prices are high. The fruity drink mentioned was so good but also filled with ice so the amount of drink was actually so small, and I think the drink was $10? We only got one dish to share and try and tried the spicy fire meat ball. Yes it was spicy but it was also dry. We barely made a dent and were over it unfortunately. Terrible food. Long lines. Long wait to order then a long wait to be seated. The kids meal burger came out as a gray patty although it is beef. My son took one bite and said "no." And spit it out. He's eight and usually loves burgers. I couldn't even get myself to take a bite. The center was pink and it was a total waste of money. I asked one of the employees that walked by if this looks normal and he said . I offered to swap the meal with my son and gave him The spaghetti and meatballs i had ordered but it is spicy so that didn't work. $45 down the drain. read more
I think it's safe to say people don't come here for the amazing food. If you temper your expectations to know that you're paying for the flare and ambience, you'll actually be quite satisfied with the Toadstool Cafe. if you're looking for the best food in the park, this is not it! Both in quality and value. Additionally, I think there are improvements to made when it comes to overall efficiency. Maybe efficiency is not their goal but efficiency leads to more business! We ordered the Bowser meatball and spaghetti, the Mario burger, the garlic knots, the tomato soup and the tiramisu - all for the price of $75. The best thing by far was the tiramisu. it was just small but it was cute and it tasted good. The Bowser meatball and spaghetti was spicy which makes sense because it's Bowser but it was a bit spicy for my own personal taste. The burger was decent and so were the fries. I was probably most disappointed by the soup because a.) you're forced to but it in the souvenir bowl but then b.) you're severely disappointed when you open the mushroom head lid to find this tiny bowl of soup in a foil bowl. It was too tomato-y and not that much different from the sauce on the spaghetti (it just wasn't spicy). The bowl of soup was super tiny - all for the value price of $20! Overall, you kinda kill yourself to get a reservation to say that you've been here but if you're not into that, I think you might be better off at the Panda Express right outside Nintendo World (that was thought that I had anyways). I've been wanting to come here for a while but whenever we try it's booked for the day. We were finally able to go on our recent visit to universal! I recommend coming here first and making a reservation asap tbh cause if you come later in the day there's no chance. Also try to show up early before your time to make sure you get in. Honestly this entire place is just so cute and I felt so excited to finally be able to get inside. Looks wise, it's perfect. I love the animated little windows inside, decor and how visually pleasing the food and dessert is. The spaghetti was alright, not the best but still good. The Bowser's challenge meatball was really spicy, my fiancé said flavor wise it was like 3.5/5. For dessert I kept hearing the princess peach cupcake was the best one there but I personally really enjoyed the ? Block tiramisu. The cookie parts of it were so yummy and I really enjoyed it overall. The cupcake was also good but very very sweet. I actually didn't finish it but they do have boxes so you can take things to go! Overall it was a really cute experience and I think I'd come back to try their other food and get that tiramisu again. :) read more
A must visit just for the ambiance. Usually the reservations are full so I was glad to snatch one up one evening but it was extremely busy. Nevertheless, staff was friendly and helpful; however, the wait for the food was about 15-20 minutes. We ordered almost everything on the menu but the standouts were (relatively speaking) Bowser's Fireball and the Mario Burger. Not saying these are the best I've ever had but for theme parks, not bad. Bowser's Fireball had a kick to it, which I enjoyed, but if you don't have a big appetite, you may want to share this with a friend since it is simply a large meatball. Mario's burger was somewhat standard but it wasn't dry nor did it tasted like it's been under a heat lamp for a while. Food aside, the dining area is worth a visit. There are "windows" on all four sides, seeing into Toad's Kitchen while other's show a view of the outside. I won't spoil it but I enjoyed just sitting there and being emersed in Mario's world. read more

As soon as you walk in Mario land, head straight to toadstool cafe look for QR code and scan. You'll receive the earliest time available or you can opt for the later hours.. if your reservations is at 12:30 pm... check in at noon already because…
Once you have a reservation can you leave the land and come back when your time is called or do you have to stay in The land until you reservation time?
If it's still within your allotted time window for entry into Nintendo world, you can. If you go past your assigned time to go in Nintendo world, they won't let you in. This was during the preview so best to inquire to make sure.
Do you have to get a Universal Pass to go here?
No. You can get in with a regular ticket (passes are annual).
