    Unprofessional customer service

Sorry to have to change my review. But after couple months to have my solar system, their customer service is not as good as before. I have my problem with my power wall while it tried to drain out itself even after the sun goes down. I tried to contact Sony and he said this is the calibration process so it should be like that. But I experienced the calibration process before, it should put my battery as standby mode without draining and it should show Calibration Processing on Tesla app. This problem happened after PGE came to my house so I would like him stop by and check to make sure everything good before I contact Tesla. But he refused to come On the installation day, his team drilled the outside wall to mount the batteries and damaged my inside wall. I complained him and he said this is possible because not 100% to find the studs. Im like did you mention that before drilling, let see how your customer would say Please be aware to go with this company, before and after the money should be different

We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

Because of the good experience I had with having Clean Solar install panels at my house I reached out to them to see if they would service panels installed by another, and thankfully they accepted the job. After some back and forth with their customer support, they remotely assessed that the inverter failed and they would install a new one for a reasonable price. Clean Solar employee Jose arrived early for the install and he was very polite and relatable. He replaced the inverter and did not leave until he made sure that the system was back up and running and production was being reported in the app. I recommend Clean Solar to anyone needing their panels serviced or to install a new system. We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

Nabu installed approximately 12 kW of solar capacity along with two Tesla Powerwall 3 units for our fully electric home. The system has been working beautifully, with all of our household electricity flowing through the Nabu-installed system. We are extremely happy with the finished project and grateful for how easy the Nabu team made the entire experience. Five stars without hesitation.

Can you say all you can run AC in the summer? If you're shopping for solar and want excellent value without any of the usual markups, we highly recommend Nabu. I'm happy to share I referred brother to install solar with Nabu. He was very reluctant, but eventually came around. You simply cannot go wrong with Nabu Energy and its amazing pricing.

We originally chose them a few years ago because they offered free solar panel removal and reinstallation when we eventually needed a roof replacement. The initial install went fine, but trying to get them to honor their contract now has been a nightmare. Bait and Switch: They are suddenly demanding a $3,600 fee for the removal. Even their salesperson admitted this fee was not indicated in our main agreement from 2021, but is now picking apart vague fine print (outside of our contract) to justify it. We have sent the contract over multiple times and asked them to highlight the language where it specifies this charge. Unethical leadership: Leadership is aware of this $3,600 gap, but they don't want to back down. Terrible Customer Service: They are dragging their feet and refusing to coordinate with our roofer, who has been consistently asking for dates to remove the solar. Ignored Emergencies: We explicitly told them we have an active roof leak and asked them to prioritize the removal so we could fix our home. They did not care. Once they finish your initial install, they will abandon you and refuse to give you the time of day. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. If you are looking for solar, be very wary and look elsewhere.

The owner of that business recommended Sunlight Electrical to fix my system. I spoke with Carlos at Sunlight. He sent out Isaac who seemed very capable. Isaac's assessment was that my system had multiple wiring issues and recommended a service that would require a larger team to complete. He explained why, and I concurred with Isaac's recommendation. Carlos scheduled a larger team to come out the next week. They were led by Jesus, who also seemed quite knowledgeable. Jesus and his team worked diligently for 4 hours. They found more wiring errors as Isaac has predicted. And they found a damaged Tesla MC2 unit on the roof which had cracked. After they completed their repairs, the system started operating better than it ever had before. I estimate that I am now getting an extra 10-15% more power from the solar panels. In addition to providing capable technicians, I really appreciate that Sunlight is so easy to work with. I asked several highly technical questions and always got thoughtful answers. If you want something done a specific way, just ask them. They have such a positive, customer oriented attitude that makes them a pleasure to deal with.

I can't say enough good things about Carlos Gomez from Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions…read more I've been working on a non-standard solar setup using an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra X and EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3, and finding a contractor who truly understood this type of system was incredibly difficult. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. Carlos is knowledgeable, meticulous, honest, and genuinely passionate about doing things the right way. After meeting him, I completely understand why this company has such strong Yelp reviews. If you're in the Bay Area and need electrical or solar work done the right way, especially for a non-standard or custom system, I highly recommend Carlos and the team at Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions.

They explained every step of the process, what was coming next, and were responsive when we had questions about where things were. I would say the overall installation went very smoothly. They came out and did a very thorough survey ahead of time and worked out where everything would get installed. We had a moderately complicated battery location but they handled it smoothly. No problems with permitting and the actual installation was mostly done day one. We had as I mentioned a complicated battery location that required running a longer connector and they finished that off mostly on the second day. At that point is was running - I only noticed because our power usage from PGE dropped to zero even though we hadn't technically finished inspection. We are done with inspection now - no hiccups and the system has been running as advertised. I would happily do another project with NRG or recommend. The installation team was professional and easy to work with. They apologized for it taking more than a day mainly due to our roof - you can see from pictures that they had to be extra careful. I was still impressed how fast they got the panels on the roof. Wish I had done this years ago.. My story is below and I encourage everyone to not trust a lick of what they promise. If you still decide to go with them then make sure any promises are in your contract. You can also submit complains on the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) for contractor licensing and workmanship, and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) if its already too late and you're already having problems with them. I started the solar installation process last June and signed my contract in July. My biggest concern from the very beginning was getting the system installed before year-end so I could qualify for the solar tax credit before it expired. During the sales process, I brought this up multiple times and was repeatedly assured there was "plenty of time" and that I had nothing to worry about. Once I signed the contract, communication essentially disappeared. It took months just to get permits approved. At first I tried to be understanding, but by October, after permits were finally issued, my installation manager, Alberto, became almost impossible to get ahold of. Every other week I had to chase someone down just to ask for updates, and every time I was told the same thing: "We still have enough time." Then in December I got the email I had been expecting for weeks -- they were not going to complete the installation before the deadline. Naturally, I wanted to cancel the contract at that point. Their response was that they would keep the money I had already paid for permitting if I canceled. After I posted a review about my experience, Yariv, their Operations Manager, contacted me the very next day saying the CEO was immensely sorry and asking if I would remove the review in exchange for helping resolve the situation. I should have trusted my gut and walked away. Instead, they re-engaged the sales team and convinced me they were giving me a special deal by restructuring everything into a lease-to-own agreement that would supposedly still allow me to receive the equivalent 30% savings. I later learned this is something many solar companies already offer because leased systems still qualify for those incentives. They also gave me a battery with half the capacity because they claimed it worked with the deal. I should have looked into this more and not agreed because it made no sense for my needs with 2 EVs at home which we commute with. Regardless, against my better judgement I gave them another chance because I was promised my project would now be treated as a priority after such a long delay. That turned out to be completely false. Today is 5/14, and my system was only finished on 5/8. The workmanship was terrible. They initially left an unpatched hole in my wall, and the exterior caulking literally looks like it was done by a child. They did come back to fix the wall but I as an amateur could have done a better job. However, the worst issue is that the gateway they installed does not even work, so I currently have no idea whether the system is operational at all. I've reached out repeatedly to Yariv, Bill Russell, and Alberto Polanco and have received no help. They collected the final payment on 5/8 while claiming the project was complete and that the activation team would contact me shortly afterward. That never happened. Once they got the final invoice paid, communication stopped yet again. For anyone still reading: please do yourself a favor and do not choose this company. That salesman is lying through his teeth. You will hear nothing after you sign. Definitely nothing after you pay the first invoice. I work with contractors regularly, and the lack of organization, accountability, and professionalism here is honestly shocking. Maybe this company was good years ago, but that is clearly no longer the case. They are taking on far more projects than they can handle and failing to deliver on what they promise. The process feels designed so that each department only cares until their invoice is paid: Permitting Installation Activation. The moment you pay, that team disappears and you are passed to the next group with no ownership or follow-through. The project manager is supposedly there to coordinate everything, but in my experience neither Bill nor Yariv provided meaningful help, and I would not expect your experience to be any different.

So I had just been burned the end of the year that cost me 20K in extra taxes. He stayed in contact with me, and then came to the house to do an evaluation. From the beginning there was something more human about his approach than my previous experience. He is professional, knowledgable, and an excellent customer service representative. After signing a proposal that was about the same amount of money as the previous one in 2024, we started figuring out delivery and installation. Because the tax credits were expiring, all solar companies had a rush of business. As with any project, there were a few glitches along the way. Ali was always available and able to smooth things to keep the project moving forward. Chris came with his team to install the panels and batteries. They knew what they were doing. I have gone into my attic months later during a big rain storm and there are no roof leaks. After the installation, there was a glitch with the batteries and I still remember Chris and Sam working in the rain, on the phone with the manufacturer until the system was working correctly. Also the previous solar company insisted(at the last minute) that I needed a sub panel for an extra 5K. Sunwise figured out how to install with no extra expense. Ali, Chris, and Sam are owners of the company and that's who I dealt with. All professionals. I can still write any of them and they respond quickly Even though my experience with the previous solar company was awful, things worked out best for me. I had a very good experience with Sunwise and highly recommend them.
