When considering solar panel and battery contractors, this review should be the last you ever need to read. If you do not choose TN electrical and solar, then you have made a tremendous mistake. I spent months reviewing and consulting contractors across the entire bay area for my 31 panel 2 battery project. TN solar and electric was multiple orders of magnitude better than any other contractor I consulted. TN solar and electric provided the best customer service experience and price. Hanh always provides the most up to date information and equipment for planning the project AND always emphasized ensuring the best value (aka most solar savings per dollar spent on the project) for the customer. Her installer Sony is detailed oriented and professional in his craft as an electrician. His team did an excellent job with both the solar panels and battery installation. My project could not have proceeded any better than I could have imagined. I wholeheartedly recommend choosing Hanh and Sony, and I am happy to be a reference for them/their work.

    Unprofessional customer service

Sorry to have to change my review. But after couple months to have my solar system, their customer service is not as good as before. I have my problem with my power wall while it tried to drain out itself even after the sun goes down. I tried to contact Sony and he said this is the calibration process so it should be like that. But I experienced the calibration process before, it should put my battery as standby mode without draining and it should show Calibration Processing on Tesla app. This problem happened after PGE came to my house so I would like him stop by and check to make sure everything good before I contact Tesla. But he refused to come On the installation day, his team drilled the outside wall to mount the batteries and damaged my inside wall. I complained him and he said this is possible because not 100% to find the studs. Im like did you mention that before drilling, let see how your customer would say Please be aware to go with this company, before and after the money should be different

After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

Btw I was going to bump this review to a 4 but working with Nick we decided on 5.** We had a complicated full house renovation this year and signed with Clean Solar for either the Tesla tiles or solar panels and we ended up choosing solar panels + Tesla power walls. I want to give special thanks (and the only reason why I didn't give a 0 star) and appreciation to the members listed as they deserved beyond 5 stars Bill, Nick, Jeremy, Rodger, Louis, Kevin, Albert, Alberto, Carl (CEO). Bill was amazing and helpful in explaining the process and helping us secure the initial funding. You are probably wondering why I am giving this solar company a 3 star. Well it takes 1 bad apple to ruin a team and this is the case. A three day project ended up taking 3+ weeks & we understand that the workload is extremely busy this time of year. However when 1 person is acting unprofessional, crossing the line, asking homeowners to borrow a usb cable to charge their cell phone, super loud, tries to impress (why), doesn't listen to clients (would walk away in mid conversation), act as if he is the owner of the company, talks way too much (not in a good way), talking about his side hustle business, a bit juvenile, not completing and complaining about the job in front of clients plus not showing up when he said he would to complete the job, leaving tools at the site and asking the homeowners to put it in their garage until he returns to pick it up, calls in sick last minute leaving the load to other team members plus more well then this becomes a problem and 0 stars (if possible) especially the amount of money you invest into this project. We also requested that this person not show up again but they kept sending him back. At the end of the project half of the Tesla walls were connected and working but the other half wasn't connecting. At one point our bedrooms electricity didn't work, it wasn't the breakers and Nick was awesome enough to take our after hours call and help us manually override those other 2 disconnected wall panels. The dream team (Nick, Kevin and Albert) resolved the connection and all is working now. Also, Nick stayed late to make sure our Tesla walls were configured and updated properly. Plus , a shout out to Jeremy for staying late as well to help fix a broken issue. Feedback: Organize a team that works well together to effectively complete the project. Provide sexual harassment training (this is excluding people listed here). If a female client doesn't feel comfortable with a person don't resend them back. Also if a homeowner (regardless of being the wife) calls and leaves a message please out of courtesy call back after all I am the client, work and pay the bills too (even though this is my husband's project).

The many moving parts to our residential solar plus battery system, including the various entities, such as PG&E, Tesla, City inspectors, and the financial backers we opted to use all progressed seamlessly and, for us effortlessly, thanks to hard working individuals behind the scenes. In particular, Skyler could not have been more helpful, managing our project and acting as a point of contact. Others included David in sales who demystified the process, Varon who coordinated with the utility to ensure we met all requirements, and Gino, who collaborated with Maxwell Power (formerly HDM Renewable Finance), the clean-energy company that helped finance our residential system. On site, the design and install team did a great job keeping things simple. The entire system, including battery and thirteen panels, was installed according to Ramiros's expert design within just four hours. Good quality hardware was used to tie to the roof, which was inspected by our roofer and given a big thumbs up for not causing problems. But even before that, David our site survey tech, gave us the sense that all would proceed well, as he collected necessary data by drone, and made a favorable first impression with his personable approach. Toward the end of the multi-month process, which included time to get a new roof installed, we passed city inspection with YES tech, Dario, an extremely courteous young man, present to ensure we made it through that last step and PTO (permission to operate). YES has an excellent and well-deserved reputation because of these people and others who worked on our behalf. The company can do better automating some of the process, and to be fair, they say they are working on transitioning to a CRM software solution for this purpose. But, I can say that over a period of several months, I had excellent communication with many helpful people. Skyler in customer service was my primary contact and that made all the difference. My thanks to YES for helping us make this wonderful and complex project a reality. We love our new YES-backed system and look forward to working with the company again in the future.

He took the time to explain what was going on with my older system and walked me through the repair options without any pressure or sales tactics. Carter and Manny handled the installation schedule and repair work, and their knowledge and experience were immediately obvious. My solar system is over a decade old, and many companies would have simply tried to sell me a completely new system. Instead, they carefully diagnosed the problem, sourced the right equipment, and got my existing system operating again. Their attention to detail, workmanship, and pride in their work were impressive. What stood out most was the customer service. Every question was answered, communication was excellent throughout the process, and the entire team treated my home with respect. It's rare these days to find a company that combines technical expertise with genuinely outstanding customer care. The system is now producing power again, and I'm thrilled to see my solar investment back in action. If you have an older solar system that needs repair, or if you're looking for a company that truly stands behind its work, I highly recommend Your Energy Solutions and their entire team. I got top of the line REC 430W panels and a Powerwall 3. Their process from design to installation was always professional and prompt. The only slow parts were waiting on PG&E to inspect, etc. Pricing was fair, though hardly inexpensive. Thus it's great when you have a rewarding experience and are very satisfied. We highly recommend Nabu Energy. SINCE THE INSTALL: We've enjoyed a HUGE savings on our PG&E bills because of Nabu. Many bills during Spring - Fall were $0 for electricity! The Powerwall app indicates when the battery is fully charged (around noon), so I can use the excess panel energy to charge my EV in the afternoon hours. It's exactly what we wanted. Thanks Nabu!

We originally chose them a few years ago because they offered free solar panel removal and reinstallation when we eventually needed a roof replacement. The initial install went fine, but trying to get them to honor their contract now has been a nightmare. Bait and Switch: They are suddenly demanding a $3,600 fee for the removal. Even their salesperson admitted this fee was not indicated in our main agreement from 2021, but is now picking apart vague fine print (outside of our contract) to justify it. We have sent the contract over multiple times and asked them to highlight the language where it specifies this charge. Unethical leadership: Leadership is aware of this $3,600 gap, but they don't want to back down. Terrible Customer Service: They are dragging their feet and refusing to coordinate with our roofer, who has been consistently asking for dates to remove the solar. Ignored Emergencies: We explicitly told them we have an active roof leak and asked them to prioritize the removal so we could fix our home. They did not care. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. Carlos is knowledgeable, meticulous, honest, and genuinely passionate about doing things the right way. After meeting him, I completely understand why this company has such strong Yelp reviews. If you're in the Bay Area and need electrical or solar work done the right way, especially for a non-standard or custom system, I highly recommend Carlos and the team at Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions.

What I loved about Juan and his team is they are NOT sales people, they're real engineers who are focused on solving your problems and meeting your needs. Juan and his team are true solar experts and know exactly what they are doing - they were great at walking me through key details I should know about the system, how to best take advantage of having a solar system, and did their best to get me scheduled (in spite of multiple difficulties) for installation before the end of the year. Just for context, I've talked to another solar company where clearly they were just about trying to close the deal and sell sell sell, which really turned me off - it felt like they just wanted our money as opposed to wanting to understand what we really needed. Juan's team really shined here by just showing up to be real experts who are thoughtful about what system you need, as opposed to trying to close a deal. Juan and his team were also really patient and flexible. Our new home's solar system had to be turned on before we could start any work, and that process took months due to Sunnova going bankrupt. And, they were also really thoughtful when we mentioned we had added in some upgrades that would affect electricity use (ie saunas and outdoor electric heaters), and they reassessed their initial project and updated it to accommodate that. I truly believe this is one of the best solar companies out there. My wife and I finally decided to pull the trigger on solar last June. Right from the start, we had an amazing experience while chatting with Frankie. He was able to answer all of our questions and he walked us through all the different options available to us. Once we began the process, NRG was always on top of it. Our installation manager, Nicole, was absolutely stellar! She always kept us in the loop as to where we stood in the process and what the next steps were. Also, she was always available to address any of our concerns. She's a coordination wizard and we're not sure how she does it, honestly. The roofing and panel installation crews were top notch. The work was impeccably clean -- so much so that the city inspector commented on how nice the install was when he came to approve everything (and he sees a lot of installs). The other great thing about NRG was that they took the reigns on all of the rebates. They knew which ones we could utilize to save some money and filled out / applied for them for us, which was awesome because a lot of those rebates ask specific questions about the system and its production stats. Most importantly, NRG never felt pushy. At no point did we feel like they were trying to upsell us or push us into anything. It always felt super professional and their experience in the industry was clear. The only disappointment we had was with the city permitting offices and not NRG. We were hoping to get everything set up to take advantage of the solar tax credit before it disappeared. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, but it wasn't due to NRG. The permitting office was holding everything up and the process of getting the permits approved took way longer than normal. The combination of a massive influx of people trying to get solar installed before the tax credit was gone, and the political landscape of tariffs and international products coming into the country at that time, was a perfect storm for a huge delay that put us past the cut-off date.

Absolutely zero redeeming qualities. This is the single worst contractor/company I've ever had the…read moredispleasure of working with. My story is below and I encourage everyone to not trust a lick of what they promise. If you still decide to go with them then make sure any promises are in your contract. You can also submit complains on the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) for contractor licensing and workmanship, and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) if its already too late and you're already having problems with them. I started the solar installation process last June and signed my contract in July. My biggest concern from the very beginning was getting the system installed before year-end so I could qualify for the solar tax credit before it expired. During the sales process, I brought this up multiple times and was repeatedly assured there was "plenty of time" and that I had nothing to worry about. Once I signed the contract, communication essentially disappeared. It took months just to get permits approved. At first I tried to be understanding, but by October, after permits were finally issued, my installation manager, Alberto, became almost impossible to get ahold of. Every other week I had to chase someone down just to ask for updates, and every time I was told the same thing: "We still have enough time." Then in December I got the email I had been expecting for weeks -- they were not going to complete the installation before the deadline. Naturally, I wanted to cancel the contract at that point. Their response was that they would keep the money I had already paid for permitting if I canceled. After I posted a review about my experience, Yariv, their Operations Manager, contacted me the very next day saying the CEO was immensely sorry and asking if I would remove the review in exchange for helping resolve the situation. I should have trusted my gut and walked away. Instead, they re-engaged the sales team and convinced me they were giving me a special deal by restructuring everything into a lease-to-own agreement that would supposedly still allow me to receive the equivalent 30% savings. I later learned this is something many solar companies already offer because leased systems still qualify for those incentives. They also gave me a battery with half the capacity because they claimed it worked with the deal. I should have looked into this more and not agreed because it made no sense for my needs with 2 EVs at home which we commute with. Regardless, against my better judgement I gave them another chance because I was promised my project would now be treated as a priority after such a long delay. That turned out to be completely false. Today is 5/14, and my system was only finished on 5/8. The workmanship was terrible. They initially left an unpatched hole in my wall, and the exterior caulking literally looks like it was done by a child. They did come back to fix the wall but I as an amateur could have done a better job. However, the worst issue is that the gateway they installed does not even work, so I currently have no idea whether the system is operational at all. I've reached out repeatedly to Yariv, Bill Russell, and Alberto Polanco and have received no help. They collected the final payment on 5/8 while claiming the project was complete and that the activation team would contact me shortly afterward. That never happened. Once they got the final invoice paid, communication stopped yet again. For anyone still reading: please do yourself a favor and do not choose this company. That salesman is lying through his teeth. You will hear nothing after you sign. Definitely nothing after you pay the first invoice. I work with contractors regularly, and the lack of organization, accountability, and professionalism here is honestly shocking. Maybe this company was good years ago, but that is clearly no longer the case. They are taking on far more projects than they can handle and failing to deliver on what they promise. The process feels designed so that each department only cares until their invoice is paid: Permitting Installation Activation. The moment you pay, that team disappears and you are passed to the next group with no ownership or follow-through. The project manager is supposedly there to coordinate everything, but in my experience neither Bill nor Yariv provided meaningful help, and I would not expect your experience to be any different.

Then I just google searched & found this company with 5* rating and thought of giving it a try. What happened: When I called 'Pacific Edge Electric & Solar' it went into voice mail, but within 2 minutes I got a text message - " we will be calling you in 10 minutes". I was so surprised by their fast response as I tried connected with other companies as well and never got response from them. Adem from Pacific Edge called me in few minutes and he asked me what's the issue. I explained him & he assured me that he will stop by within few hours. Then a representative called me and took the details from me. It was very fast moving service & response from their end. Their services: Adem texted me the time frame when he will be coming. He came & inspect everything max within 15 minutes and found the issue. Fixed it. & he explained me the issue - why it happened & how it needs to be fixed. Also he charged a nominal fee. I was extremely happy with his prompt service starting from responding me. He considered it as priority work & made it done.

After contacting several solar companies, we decided to go with Tokamak Solar (now Pacific Edge…read moreElectric and Solar) for our residential solar project. One of the main reasons we chose them was their ability to complete the installation before the end of 2025, which allowed us to take advantage of the tax incentive (we did receive the tax credit in 2026). Their pricing was also competitive. Overall, the project went well. There were some periods when communication could have been more consistent, especially regarding updates and timelines. However, whenever we followed up, they were responsive and ultimately addressed the issues. In the end, the project was completed in a timely manner, and when we encountered issues with the system, they did take care of them.

So I had just been burned the end of the year that cost me 20K in extra taxes. I was mistrustful about the entire industry at that point, but I wanted solar and the tax credits were to be eliminated end of 2025. That's when I called Sunwise and met Ali. He stayed in contact with me, and then came to the house to do an evaluation. From the beginning there was something more human about his approach than my previous experience. He is professional, knowledgable, and an excellent customer service representative. After signing a proposal that was about the same amount of money as the previous one in 2024, we started figuring out delivery and installation. Because the tax credits were expiring, all solar companies had a rush of business. As with any project, there were a few glitches along the way. Ali was always available and able to smooth things to keep the project moving forward. Chris came with his team to install the panels and batteries. They knew what they were doing. I have gone into my attic months later during a big rain storm and there are no roof leaks. After the installation, there was a glitch with the batteries and I still remember Chris and Sam working in the rain, on the phone with the manufacturer until the system was working correctly. Also the previous solar company insisted(at the last minute) that I needed a sub panel for an extra 5K. Sunwise figured out how to install with no extra expense. Ali, Chris, and Sam are owners of the company and that's who I dealt with. All professionals. I can still write any of them and they respond quickly Even though my experience with the previous solar company was awful, things worked out best for me. I had a very good experience with Sunwise and highly recommend them.
