Today, Edwin and his brother upgraded my sub panel to a new one with tons more space. They arrived on time and quickly got the project started. The old panel was removed, wiring cleaned up, drywall opened, and new panel installed. The installation was done proper, to code and looks CLEAN! I also requested adding a breaker+wire conduit for a future Tesla EV charger, which was no problem for Edwin and bro. I hired Fast Handy Electric to help me reconfigure my Sense smart electricity monitor to observe my home's energy usage via the 400A split service main panel. The Sense monitor can only read two sets of sensor leads at a time, but my panel is more of a 200-100-100 split, so I could only monitor two of the three subpanels at any one time. The support team at Sense recommended that, if it were legal to do so, I could place only one set of sensor leads at the power mains in my panel, which resides on the non-serviceable meter side of my main panel. That side is not only marked as "CONTAINS NO SERVICEABLE PARTS" but also has a twisted wire through the bolt securing the panel that serves as a tamper indicator. Though I am perfectly cable of opening that side of the panel myself, I was not prepared to accept any liability for having done so. Hence, I hired an electrician, more for the licensure/insurance than for the help. Edwin (the business owner) was properly masked and very friendly, and we discussed my options after he had had a look at the panel configuration. As I feared, PG&E can fine someone for "tampering" with the meter side of an electrical panel, so getting permission beforehand would be the safest way to proceed if we were to do that. However, Edwin has installed several Sense monitors before mine, and he had a better idea. Edwin was able to take the wires from both 100A subpanels (two each) and fit two wires of identical polarity within each sensor clamp, causing Sense to monitor it as a single 200A circuit. The configuration was an extremely tight fit in the box, but it did fit and completely works! No need to worry about PG&E now -- I can fully monitor my home's electricity usage from the serviceable side of the panel. I would be glad to use Fast Handy Electric for my electrical needs in the future. read more

They were very professional and very fast. They were good about working with us to decide what we need, and very flexible adjusting and updating things as the project evolved. We Found this fellow in Yelp, sent a message and included our phone number to shorten the time for communicating our problem. We needed additional electrical outlets in our older Santa Clara home... We put this project off for years - even with breakers tripping, RV electrical meltdowns, running on too many extension cords and power strips - what an unsafe mess! Kelley, Edwin and Armando (the Guys) came to our rescue... Our RV now has a dedicated 30 amp outlet, the yard now has an outlet for leaf blower, etc... The appliances in the outdoor kitchen can all be used at the same time and will never again trip the breaker - not to mention our inside kitchen now has additional outlets for safety and on both sides of the room! We also have a new nifty garbage disposal button right on the sink that uses air to start incinerating - didn't even know that existed! Additional power added to the living room for all of the TV associated gizmos, and safety GFIs in all bathrooms and kitchens. All of this was installed in less than 12 hours over 2 days. The Guys are knowledgeable in their trades; fast and thorough; clean; polite and also fix related items that are broken, like the dishwasher air gap.
