We needed new electrical panels installed because our HOA was super paranoid about getting dropped by our insurance. First it was Willow Glen electric & now it's Trout. I didn't appreciate the urgency (she said I needed it done asap, when I had at least 4 to 5 months). Aside from that, the communication from the project manager was competent & efficient. When Trout took over communication went haywire. During the city permitting process they said in their letter to me that I just needed to be home for (think the window was 8:30 to 9:45am). They said nothing about having to keep opening and closing my garage door access. Well, I refuse to use my PTO from work because they're not sure how long they're going to be, or the start and end times. So around 3 PM at work I got a frantic text from another (different) project manager asking me to open my garage. Well, hello, there is no power, so how can I open the garage? Finally, they got that sorted out and around 5 PM one of their techs asked me to open my garage. I never got a response back from him when I asked to confirm if he was done and I could shut it again (by the way, I was doing this remotely from work since I have an app.) Communication needs to greatly improve in order for me to recommend this business. read more

They are doing work at my apartment complex. For 2 days in a row they have provided a generator for tenants to have power at night but they forgot to provide power to the water heater. We've had to take cold showers for 2 days in a row because they didn't bother to confirm that everything that needed temporary power had it. Not sure I would trust them if they can't check something as basic as that. read more

I had a confirmed appt July 9 12-2pm. There were crickets until I called them at 1:55pm. Customer service said someone would call us back, and said the technician was finishing a job. Crickets. I called back at 2:45pm, and there was an internal memo that the installation was cancelled at 2:07pm, but no one emailed or called us to update us. Our home office had an interesting electrical problem recently. One of the florescent ceiling light fixtures exploded! (Yes, with a shower of glowing embers falling and smoke pouring out of the fixture). Fortunately nothing caught fire but now we had a dark office. I used the Yelp feature to communicate with electricians and got responses from several contractors. I have used Willow Glen Electric in the past, but they were not in the list presented by Yelp, but I was able to add them. Willow Glen Electric responded promptly and presented a complete solution for the replacement of all three of the 40 year old fixtures with new, bright, dimmable LED fixtures at a reasonable price. There was a problem with their first scheduled visit. After waiting a long while and nobody arrived, I called them and found out that nobody had ordered in advance the light fixtures. They thought that they could just pick them up from a supplier on the way over to the job. Unfortunately, they were out of stock so they couldn't do the job on the scheduled date. What they should have done was to order all the needed parts in advance so they would have everything before coming to the job. This they did correctly for the rescheduled visit. Over a week later, at the rescheduled visit, they arrived with the correct fixtures and performed the work. They had to remove the old fixtures, do a bit of rewiring in the ceiling, and install the new fixtures. There were a few issues they had to overcome, but they solved them and the installation was successful. There was a small issue at the end over the final price due to the unforeseen issues encountered in the installation, but it was resolved to everyone's satisfaction. My suggestion to them for the future, is for the installers to be in communication with their office and the customer when such things happen so that there are no surprises. read more

I started an electrical upgrade for a 15 unit apartment building Oct . of 2023... It began with Willow Glen..... it is now Feb 2026... the project is still not done...I have gone through 4 reps.... the owner will never call me directly....only group emails....every step has been done wrong and had to be corrected...I am now at the point of BEGGING to get this done....Sleepless nights .... loss of rents... reps who have no idea what they are doing ....I feel they should have told me they could not handle this job instead of dragging this on for near 2 1/2 years and still dragging on....The reps have always been courteous and kind but they have no idea what they are doing......Its very sad and I feel totally used.. I am not a large corporation... this is my personal asset.. It doesn't seem fair that large Companies are allowed to do this to a solitary owner that has no recourse. We've hired Willow Glen three times now - first for a Tesla car charger (which worked out great), then had them come back and install a Powerwall. That was a much more involved install over two days. Unfortunately, that install had a number of surprises along the way - we didn't know there was going to be an external (ugly) emergency shutoff switch, we didn't know that we might need to install bollards in front of the Powerwall (thankfully we didn't), and they thought that the heat sensor was working as intended when it loudly beeped every few minutes (it was still in demo mode). I would have loved to know about these things ahead of the install starting, not midway through. We also got a whole hour notice before learning a tech would come out to prepare for our city inspection - I had work that day and making sure I had a family member around and prepared to chat with them was an unnecessary stress. Looking back on it, this was a complicated job and it all came out well in the end. Despite some of the communication issues with the Powerwall install, when we needed a ceiling fan replaced, Willow Glen was who we turned to. They were able to come out literally the next business day, the techs were friendly and nice, and the install was smooth and fast. I will say: they did completely ignore the form on their website when we filled it out - calling them is definitely the way to schedule work. Overall, each time we've hired them, they've been professional, the price has been reasonable, and the quality of the work has been top notch. I would just make sure you have them walk you through exactly what they're doing for complicated installs so there aren't any surprises. read more

I used the Yelp "Request a quote" feature to reach out to a number of different electrical contractors. I sync'd up with Matt who was really prompt and informative. I was early in my vetting process so I wasn't the most efficient in asking questions but Matt was patient and thorough. In total, I interacted with 6 different contractors and WGE wasn't the cheapest but I decided to go with them given their reviews and my personal experience with the rest. Matt rolled off my project and I was then working with Will who was also great. Once I committed to go with them I interacted with several other WGE employees (I was replacing my main service panel and there's complexity due to city permitting and PG&E application) and they were all great. On installation day the 3 person crew showed up on time at 7:30 am. One of the crew mentioned that they would normally send out 2 people and take a full day (through 5 pm). There's dependency on PG&E to shut down power and re-energize the line as well as the city inspector for permitting so there is a fair amount of "hurry up and wait" going on. I also had an EV circuit installed so another line was run up through the attic and into the garage. It's really clean looking! My power was restored a little after 4 pm and everything was working perfectly. The last task of finishing was for their stucco person to make the wall look like it did before they started. He finished by about 7 pm and did an excellent job. I don't give many 5 star ratings because I believe it should be reserved for something exceptional but Willow Glen Electric really deserves it. They have a great team and do great work. I would use them again for my electrical needs and highly recommend them. read more

Recently had an EV charger installed. The whole process was quick, easy and efficient. The two guys who arrived (on time!) to install were absolutely brilliant. They took the time to come up with some options for running the cables, I assumed they'd just run conduit the whole side of my house (easiest / cheapest way) but instead they ran the cables through my attic. They had to break some stucco to get in to the power panel and my experience with other electricians / contractors is that is the beginning of a messy ordeal, but you'd never know they did it at all. Extremely clean and seamless install. I'm a bit funny about things being neat / straight / spaced properly, but these guys were too, it seems. Couldn't be more pleased with it. To cap it off, without asking, I got a $150 credit on my invoice because they got done quicker than expected. Highly recommended! read more

I m overdue on writing a review for Willow Glen Electric. Of all contractors we have had renovated our house, this is the best crew from start to finish. I had 3 separate work orders done and they are all up par to satisfaction. One was to install an EV charger running from the back yard to front yard. It's expensive but we can't do it ourselves. Second was to change all the light fixtures in our bathrooms. Today, finding a lost 220V line/outlet in the garage (behind the sheetrock) and bring it out again to use on other appliances (electric dryer) and changed a LED dimmable ceiling light. We currently have a gas dryer. All electricians from Willow Glenn Electric are outstanding with great ethic. I would call again for any future electrical work. They are more expensive than others but since we bundle our orders, the cost was reasonable two out of three visits. Thank you for caring! read more

Not one bad thing to say about this company! After we ordered our Tesla Model Y, one of the first things we did was inquire about getting a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in our garage. This company was on the Tesla website and I definitely wanted the work to be permitted so we went with them. Response time to our initial inquiry and questions was fast and very professional. We were able to get something scheduled within days of our first contact with the company. Today, the crew came within the earlier side of the arrival window, were so nice and helpful in explaining my options for outlet locations and making sure the outcome works for our intended charging situation. They finished the work quickly and other then the addition of the new equipment, the garage looked untouched as if they'd never been there. The other thing I appreciated was the thoughtfulness they have towards their customers in providing a hook to wrap the charge cord as well as the NEMA adaptor if you need it. It does cost money but I like the fact that bundle of services is the perfect way to set yourself up for EV life. I still need to have the city inspection but since they are handling the whole thing, I feel free as a bird! I have no worries about getting the city permit and I have my new NEMA to charge my Tesla so I'm ready to go whenever it arrives! read more

This a scam business. Hire them if you want to be nickeled and dimed at a massive markup. If you reschedule they'll charge you full fare and claim they showed up and completed work. What a joke. In response: Matt, apparently I must have misread the following "Attached is your invoice for the electrical project we completed for you which is now due."? That says completed, no? Thanks for the discount and your flexibility- $200 for completing nothing. I'd expect, what, another $200 to complete the completed job? For what? To unscrew a fusebox and install a $10 GE fuse. What a bargain! $400 for a fuse! I'm so happy you believe this isn't nickeling and diming - especially after we hired your business to the tune of $15,000 last year. Update: we had a licensed electrician visit to diagnose our recent issues. During this visit the $15,000 upgrade that Willow Glen also "completed" last year became quite an interesting topic. Findings (screenshot of quote attached) 1. Sub-Panel was not permitted 2. Sub-panel was not in a firewall 3. There was no nolax on aluminum wiring 4. Breakers were not torqued down correctly 5. Despite offering the lowest price, they also had the best service - very responsive & organized, ready to answer all of my questions, and flexible with scheduling. The electricians showed up on time and completed the work on schedule. The installation work quality seems very good. I like how they ran the conduits out of the wall and along the ceiling in the garage. Very clean and looks like it will last longer than the house. Our solar company notified us that we have not produced energy for over 2 months after Willow Glen Electric installed our Tesla Batteries!!! We were told that the original long time owners have sold the company so this may explain why the service is different. Willow Glen Electric has done electrical work for us over the years and we have been pleased but the install of our Tesla Chargers has been very problematic. We signed the contract and paid a 10% deposit in early October. We contacted them a number of times and wanted to know the work schedule for our project. In January we called them weekly asking for the project schedule. They reported that they had some internal problems with the those who did the layouts but they fixed the problem. They finished our installation at the end of February and they left saying that everything was working. Next step was the inspection by the county and at that time our final payment would be due. We keep waiting for this to happen. We haven't heard from them since. Last week we got a notice from Sunpower, our solar company to report that our solar has not produced anything since Feb 27 around the time they finished the project and was told "every thing was working." WE HAVE LOST OVER 2 MONTHS OF SOLAR POWER AND NOTHING IS STORED IN OUR BATTERIES. We are questioning the integrity of the entire project and don't trust the work that has been done. We are about a step away from contacting the State of California regarding this. Something is very wrong. read more

Willow Glen did an excellent job, and I would hire them again. We hired them to install an electric car charger, along with a huge upgrade to our existing electrical panel. We wanted to future proof for solar. Willow Glen's experts knew their stuff inside and out. After Willow Glen installed the new panel and necessary wiring, we hired a separate company to install the solar panels, battery, and accompanying setup. When we had an issue with our solar panel electricians, Willow Glen was able to pull out the code and cite line and verse of what complied, and what didn't. Willow Glen also took the time to work with the inspector to make sure everything was up to code. Though there were minor issues regarding timelines, I am willing to chalk it up to a misunderstanding on my end. They do exactly what they stipulate in their contract. I used Willow Glen to install an EV charger. This was after a poor experience/misfire with my solar installer (a large national firm), who was not able to install the EV charger as desired. Willow Glen was prompt with the quote, very reasonable (for what I thought was a smaller job), and very timely. The two technicians were professional and very effective. I was excited to get the charger finally installed and had it in use the same day. Cheryl the scheduler had been the glue throughout the process and was a key member of the project team. A few days after installation, we had an issue with a PG&E line into our house, which created notable electrical issues. I emailed Cheryl early one morning and she was quick to respond (before work hours) with sage advice! I called PG&E (per her instructions) right away and was able to have the issue resolved before 9:30 am. I reached out to Willow Glen for a quote to install an EV outlet in my garage. They were super responsive and nice. That's what gave the three stars. The other two stars are missing because of value and a major error on their part. I reached out to several companies. All but Willow Glen agreed to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet so I could plug in whatever EVSE I wanted to. Willow Glen said they could only install a less powerful outlet, slowing down my charging capabilities. They said they calculated my house's electrical abilities, and a NEMA 14-50 wouldn't work out for me. So they offered to hardwire a box instead or I could choose the slower outlet install. I don't think they were ill-intentioned, but I do think they made an error. I went with another electrician who was 1/3 their price. The other electrician had the same offerings: he filed the permit with the city and coordinated the inspection. And I got the NEMA 14-50 outlet I wanted installed. It passed inspection and has been working great. Just leaving this here because while Willow Glen has some great marketing, I wanted others to know there are other electricians who offer the same service but just don't advertise it. Problem I have is they think that sending an electrician and a non electrical staff, training to be a electrician. and want to bill double. making the customer pay for the no help body they sent with the electrician. This is such an unprofessional way of raping a customer of money. I personally will not call these guys again.
