We have been back several times over the past year and the food is consistently good. Most recently had the flor de pina (chicken, shrimp, pork in a small pineapple) which is a wonderful mix of flavors. Service is always friendly but can vary in efficiency and knowledge of the menu/drinks on offer. The decor is very nice/elegant and the place is spotless. Higher end Mexican food is somewhat unique in this area and a nice reminder of the vast variation in Mexican cuisine. read more

I finally tried this place, despite it being within walking distance of my house, I just never got here until a couple of nights ago. Should have come sooner! This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. This is more like Guadalajara beach resort - great dishes, imaginative food, served with class and full of flavor - totally worth the higher cost. We had the queso appetizer, but this is not the typical cup of white cheese - it's much more: textures, different flavors, real cheese served on a hot griddle and not soupy in a room temp cup. The main dishes we had were also outstanding. Get over there! read more

Dinner after a show at Hendricks Live - so easy just across the street - second visit here and just as impressed ! Seated quickly out in their patio - the evening was nice. Our waiter was great about explaining menu items and got our drinks out quickly. All 4 of us ordered differently and we were very very happy ! And the guacamole was a wonderful starter ! Cocktails were delicious as well - our plates were large and we all had enough to take home. Will be back ! read more

We hadn't been to Plainfield for a while and noticed this to us Mexican restaurant. We were seated quickly at a requested outdoor table on a beautiful day. My arroz con pollo was delicious and my Paloma was also really tasty. My husband had chicken enchiladas which he said were just ok. read more

We love this fancy Mexican recipe. It's not cheap but the food is worthy of the price. The service is always great. Worth a visit for a special night out. read more

Visited on Sunday after the symphony at Hendricks Live. Next to the parking garage entrance so it couldn't be more convenient. This is a more upscale Mexican restaurant but still business casual. Nice place with excellent food. Loved the fresh made guacamole appetizer. I ordered the Mayahuel and was very pleased. I had enough to take leftovers home. I will be back! Why did the chicken cross the road?? To get to Tlachos!!!! This place is everythinggggg. Food and drinks were amazing! Everything was perfectly seasoned. From homemade sauces to fresh fruit margaritas everything was a 10! Service was incredible, shoutout to Mako. Decor was beautiful, even the restroom was clean and well decorated. Oh and let's not forget that we got $5 off our check for "girls night out" Thursday special from 5-9pm. Go to Tlahcos right now!!! So worth it. The only con is that I don't live closer to it! read more

More of a high end Mexican place as opposed to more Mexi-Merican fare. I had Carne Asada and it was presented interestingly with cactus and onion and charred jalapeño. Quite good! It was a Monday evening so it wasn't very busy at all. At one point there was live music from a piano player which was nice, not overbearingly loud or anything. Waiter was good about answering questions and paying attention to us. It is gonna be a bit pricey if you come here so be prepared but as I said it isn't your typical "Mexican" like most places. read more

This place has very high reviews and I was excited to try it on my trip to Indianapolis. We went on a Saturday and it was busy, which can explain the slow service. The Birria tacos had good flavor but were incredibly greasy. Like they took them out of the fryer with a spoon that was not slotted. They were in an actual puddle on the plate. This was not just the usual amount of Birria taco grease. The margarita was good. My recommendation is to ask the server about the item before ordering it. read more

That was the worst restaurant experience ever. We waited forever for water and drinks, and then even longer for our food. I drank my soda and my husband's, and he eventually went inside to get a refill. My daughters and their friends, who were at a separate table, never even got water refills. When the food finally came out, we had to go inside to get our own silverware. Three of our six meals were inedible. When the waiter finally came back, he said they were having a mandatory staff meeting (on a Saturday evening, over an hour before closing!). When I asked him to take some money off the bill for the bad food and service (which I have NEVER done in my life), he said they couldn't once it was brought out. He was rude and told us to go ahead and leave a bad review. $150 for terrible service, food, and attitude. I plan on leaving bad reviews everywhere I can find to leave a review. It takes A LOT to make me angry and I left this place fuming! Absolutely awful!! read more

Upscale well appointed Mexican restaurant in Plainfield. Beautiful bar area. Great location in downtown right next to parking garage. We had a large group including younger kids. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Our server even brought one of the young boys his own carafe of water. He was so tickled. Tlahcos has an excellent menu with lots to chose from. They have items you'll recognize and specialty entrees you definitely want to try. Even a ceviche bar. We pretty much tried a bit of everything. All were happy with their meals. Drinks wise it will be hard to make a decision. Good reason to go back multiple times. read more

The service is quick and friendly, the food is...good, but not specifically spectacular given the prices, but the best feature is the date night ambiance for a Friday night. We stopped in on a Friday night at 7:00 PM. We were seated immediately and the server was at our table right away. Warm chips and salsa came out shortly thereafter. I informed the server that I had a FOX59 be our guest certificate and he asked if I had printed it. I said no it was just on my phone and he informed me it had to be printed. That was on me since I didn't read the fine print. So this means we will go back again. We decided to split the Flor De Pina and it was plenty of food for the both of us. It came with rice (not very flavorful) and black beans that really tasted straight from the can. The actual dish was very good. Lots of meat and cheese served inside a half of a pineapple. They brought out some hot flour tortillas which was nice to pile all of the goodies into. I ordered muddled margarita and was shocked when it came out in the smallest glass I've ever seen a margarita served in. For $13 I would have expected much more than a small glass completely filled with ice and a little margarita. The flavor was very good though but because of the lack of margarita and abundance of ice I definitely wouldn't get that again. Hubby got a blue moon and it was a nice size. $60 bill with tip for a shared entree and two drinks is just a little steep for my liking. We will go back with the printed FOX59 be our guest certificate but if we didn't have that I'm not sure we would return. Our server was awesome and our food came out really quickly. The restaurant is very dimly lit. We are old so we have a hard time seeing in the dark. I would prefer a little more light. read more

What a gem in Plainfield Indiana! It's very rare and hard to find flavorful Mexican food in Indiana! But Tlachos has it down! The food here is wonderful and there's a wide variety with something for everyone! The street tacos & the pineapple fajitas were amazing! Service & our server were excellent! We were never without a refill and the food came out quick! The salsa that came with the chips was the perfect amount of spice! Nicely decorated restaurant, a little loud when busy, but we all enjoyed our meal & we'll be back! We look forward to coming back & trying a margarita! read more

I live in Plainfield and I have never been to this place until today. Our server was beyond nice and helpful with exploring the menu. They also had a very wide variety of food, we got an appetizer, the tahlaco taquitos, and tacos and they were amazing! it was my birthday and he also brought out churros with condenser milk. They were wonderful! Highly recommend this restaurant, and would even be worth a drive. This place was a complete knock out! I'm thinking about it right now it was that tasty! I ordered Queso Birria tacos, Arron con pollo, churros, and it's was so delightful! Everything was delicious, so I'm going to hit the highlights! The arroz con pollo was extraordinary! The queso, the chicken was seasoned to perfection! I couldn't stop eating! Seriously so delicious! I also loved the churros the cinnamon sugar with that fruit dipping sauce that tasked like fruit heaven! Was chefs kiss! We devoured our plates! We went on a random Tuesday and the place was not that busy but there was a parking garage, so that was very easy! Also, I can't forgot the superb service we received! He was nice, engaging, funny, and made sure we needed for nothing! The decor was so beautiful and refreshing! Sophisticated elegance with pops of color and culture felt like a beautiful blend! read more

High end Mexican food, fun atmosphere, great service. The food was delicious. Went for book club 4/10/24. We had Quesa Birria, Zapopan, Flor de Piña, and Papantla. Everything was beautifully presented, especially the pineapple and super flavorful. Nice amount of spice. The black beans were surprisingly good, they had lots of flavor. The salsas were very good too. Everyone liked their drinks, margaritas, mojitos and an Argentinian Malbec. Best part no icky velveeta cream sauce anywhere. Much more authentic than I've seen. Go! You'll be glad you did. Free parking garage attached to the building. read more

When my bff said she wanted to celebrate her birthday here, I heard "a new Mexican restaurant", and was all in! She was able to make a reservation for 6, and we were lucky enough to be seated in a private room at the front of the restaurant. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how stylish the restaurant is. The wicker style light fixtures, greenery accents and wood curved back chairs all seem thoughtfully curated and really added to the modern ambiance. To start, the place was packed on a Friday night. Apparently there was an event happening across the street at the new Hendricks Live stage, and I'm sure that contributed to the crowd. Our server attended to us quickly, but it took a bit of time before we received our drinks. Not a complaint, just an observation as the place was hopping! We each chose a different cocktail, and agreed they were all delicious with unique fruit flavors. I had the regular margarita, which tasted quite fresh and without any premade ingredients. Our appetizers and meals took a bit longer to arrive as well. An owner came out (unsolicited) to talk with us and apologized for our wait. He was so gracious and kind, at the end even bringing us a fun candle creation, slice of dulce de leche cheesecake and a Prosecco toast for the birthday gal! He was very interested in our feedback and genuinely excited about the restaurant. He said they plan to offer other events there as well, including cooking classes and salsa dancing! As to our food, it was both beautiful and delicious. We shared queso fundido, esquites, chips + salsa trio and cabo's ceviche. The ceviche was a surprising star, fresh and lightly sweet. I ordered the Gobernador tacos and was impressed that the shrimp were perfectly cooked and juicy. The Flor de Pina was quite the showstopper, presented in a grilled pineapple half. It was truly an excellent celebratory meal here at Tlahcos. We'll definitely be back again soon! read more

Tlahcos doesn't disappoint. I've gotten to meet the GM and owner on a few visits and they are very nice and have really been a nice addition to downtown Plainfield. The decor of the restaurant is very nice at night. The lighting is fun and different. The menu is large with a more sophisticated menu than most Mexican restaurants. The Brussel sprout side was an interesting menu item not often found at a Mexican restaurant. It's amazing! The staff is very fun and makes dining at Tlahcos a great time! read more

Waiter gave new meaning to "wait"er. Disappeared for long periods and forgot stuff. Attended tables around us just fine. Ceviche is candy not spicy at all. Street corn is a joke. 3 oz cup at $9 for $.50 of product. Yes it's upscale and beautiful inside. Just not best for first timer read more

I'll give two stars for the food being decent. Been in twice now. Four top this time. Got seated immediately. Not a full house by any stretch. I'm trying to like this place, but that's a tall order. It's a nice place. Well set up. The food isn't bad, but the two times we've been in it's like pulling teeth to get bar drinks served, a refill, more chips and salsa. Not to mention no paper towels in the restroom. Took forever to get a beer and a cocktail. Every time our sweet little server left she didn't come back for fifteen minutes or more. Took forever to get our drinks from the bar. Took just as long or longer to get food. I ordered a side salad. It came after my tacos. It's just a little too slow and tedious for this dawg. Shouldn't take an hour plus for nine tacos and one plated entree. I'm done with Tlahcos. read more

First time having dinner at Tlahcos in Plainfield. We came on a night when a concert was going on next door, so a bit busier than usual. Called ahead for a reservation, which I would recommend! We were seated right at reservation time, but service after was super slow. I'm talking 25 minutes to receive drinks slow. Food took a bit longer than average but really the bar service was the biggest hold up. Food was delicious once it arrived. Recommend trying the birria tacos. I wish outdoor seating was available, but it was fairly spacious inside. Food prices higher than your typical Mexican restaurant, but I would say the food was much better quality so you get what you pay for. Overall our meal was much slower due to slow service but food was good. Parking garage convenient next door as well! read more
