My boyfriend wanted to come here because of positive past experiences I was hesitant because of the lesss than ideal reviews. The restaurant is beautiful, Very modern, vibrant and clean. The service was wonderful too, very efficient and kind. The foood is where my stars come in, the guacamole was AMAZING, some of the best, queso also good typical Mexican restaurant quality, but our meals lacked flavor fajitas, pollo y camarones, and the kids meals. Our food took a fashionably long time to eventually come to our table, Our sever only checked on us every 30ish minutes I was very parched before my food was there and I had 4 drinks the whole time, our server couldn't understand his own menu which was very hard to communicate our orders to the waiter. Didn't have much expectations from this place since I'm visiting from Chicago and it's super easy to get authentic and delicious Mexican food but I will say that Tequila Sunrise was pretty darn good. They served us a huge serving of chips and salsa for the table which was warm and tasted fresh and the quesabirria was also really good! I wish the consome was more flavorful though, felt a bit watery but overall pretty delicious. We also ordered the choriqueso dip to eat with the chips and it was super good. They really don't skimp out on the cheese so take this as a warning haha. Overall, I think you would get a good deal here for decent Mexican food, I wish the restrooms were cleaner though. read more

We've been fans of Tequila Sunrise for a long time. The quality and preparation of food is consistently good with an excellent selection. They carry the typical menu items found at most Mexican restaurants plus a few more. Our servers are always friendly and take good care of us. My favorite dinner at Tequila Sunrise is the 4 Chicken Mole Enchiladas Dinner. If you enjoy Mole sauce, I think you'll enjoy theirs. My husband typically selects one of the burritos. My husband can always find a cold 32oz. Dos xx Amber draft beer ($10) he enjoys, or another draft which sounds good to him at the time. I enjoy the Texas Maragarita with my meal, and they carry many margaritas. They serve cocktails such as Peachata, Tequila Sunrises, Pina Colada, Daiquiri, or Long Island Ice Tea. Margaritas range from House, Texas, Top Shelf, or their Signature or Special Margaritas. There are many nice brands of tequila shots as well. You'll need to ask about the seasonal beers on draft, plus they carry bottles, cans, and imports. Of course, you'll find premium spirits of whiskey, bourbon, vodka, rum, and others. Be sure to check out the desserts before handing back the menu. I like the Flan, Italian Lemon Cream Cake, or Brownie served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Been coming here with family for years. Used to be my favorite spot but after this last experience I probably will not be back. The lady seating us was unfriendly and threw the menus on the table in front of us w/o looking back. Then we had a great meal & when I checked out was given attitude by a different, older lady. Actually snatched my card out of my hand when I was trying to pay just to shove it back towards me. It was a wild experience being treated like that, completely ruined the happy outing for us. I haven't been here in a long time and was pleasantly surprised to see they have remodeled the inside. Definitely a huge improvement and makes it feel more upscale. A friend and I arrived shortly after they opened on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated quickly and served tortillas chips and two salsas. I thought one of the salsas would be hot and the other mild but both tasted mild. We both ordered off the lunch menu and got the street tacos with carnitas, pastor, and steak. The meal also came with esquites (very creamy and flavorful), pickled cucumbers and red onions. Surprisingly it didn't come with beans. Everything tasted great but once again surprised nothing was spicy, which is fine with me but my friend loves heat and there was none. My favorite taco was the carnitas and my friends was the steak. I stopped in before going bowling with some friends. I didn't know this place existed and so didn't have time to research it before going in. The decor is vastly different from most Mexican restaurants I have been to and definitely didn't feel like I was in a Mexican restaurant. They have a lot of choices and I ended up getting the burrito del Mar and asked for tilapia instead of the shrimp which they were happy to switch out. The food was good, the rice had little flavor but the burrito was good. Even the cheese on top was not the typical thick, creamy queso you expect. Tequila Sunrise has been around in Brownsburg for quite some time and we used to go more often than we do now. Their food is always great and I feel they're quality is above most other Mexican cuisine, however their service has slipped a great deal. The last several times, the service at the hostess/checkout has been terrible at best. We've been treated rudely on numerous occasions. The last time there we waited more than 45 minutes on our food we ordered, very slow. They have a pretty extensive menu offering with everything from ceviche to burrito bowls and everything in between. A good number of vegetarian and seafood options as well. Unfortunately this place has went downhill since my last visit. The salsa tasted a little funny and the seafood in my daughters burrito tasted rotten where she had to throw up after eating it. On July 24, 2024 we shared lunch with friends at Tequila Sunrise. The service was mediocre -- very little attention -- no drink refills. My taco hard shell was very stale. The soup sub-average and not hot. When asked "is everything alright" by the waitress, I said "the taco shells are stale". She replied "so everything good?". She obviously did not understand what I just said. When she brought the bill I asked her if she told the kitchen that the shells were stale and she just nodded. That was $30 not well-spent. My wife and I stopped in just after noon on Sunday and although we generally liked the food, there were several glitches on the service side that left us bewildered. When we checked in at the front desk and asked for a table for two, the host took off faster than we kept up and he went toward the kitchen and started a conversation, leaving us wondering what was going on. He realized that he had forgotten to seat us and apologized. The room we were seated in was quite full and was divided between two waitresses. Unfortunately, it wasn't divided equally. Our waitress was courteous, but she was hustling much more than the other waitress. So, we had waits between ordering a beverage and receiving it. Long waits on water refills. We noticed that she seemed focused on one task at a time and forgot things like taking used dishes away, asking about more chips and salsa until we had already received our entrees, and when I asked if the tacos came with cheese, she said "no". I asked if I could get some and she said "no" again, which I found odd that a Mexican restaurant doesn't offer cheese with tacos. I was puzzled. The free chips and salsa were pretty good. The chips were crisp and the salsa had a little hint of heat that accumulated, but not too strong for me. My wife said the Taco Salad with chicken was really good. The chicken wasn't dry and was generously portioned. Despite not having any cheese for my tacos (nor sour cream), the tacos were pretty good. Some of the beef was tough (like gristle), but most was okay, though not really tender. Good flavors though. To start off the night with trying a different Mexican cuisine and big mistake there! The Queso was watered down and just utterly disgusting, the fajitas were mid with lots of salt and they weren't even that good, I ordered an iced tea which they gave me in water pitcher, and to top it off the bathroom stalls have no locks because the wood was broken. I hate to say how disappointed I was with Tequila Sunrise. It was my first time going and will likely be my last. I will start with saying the salsa and white queso were great! Compared to other Mexican restaurants they were equal. You even get personal salsa decanters, which is unique. For my entree I did the Jose Frog Chimichanga which has either grilled steak or chicken with grilled peppers and onions stuffed in a tortilla and is deep fried and covered in cheese. Had a great time here!! I got the salmon with spinach and artichoke dip on top and it was delicious. The queso was very good as well. It's also a very cute place. We sat outside and the chairs are very uncomfortable especially if you're wearing shorts in this summer weather. The service was a little slow, but overall I enjoyed my time here. The experience happened on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018. We arrived at close to 6pm and there was a wait for a table...maybe 10 minutes. Not too shabby. The host was little more than a teenager. Asked how many and asked for a name. No clue uttered as to how long the wait will be or that he was sorry there was a wait to start with. Not a huge deal but I notice details. We were seated in the very center of the restaurant just next to a huge fountain that had no water in it. We sat there surrounded by 3 empty tables wondering why there had been a 10 minute wait if there are empty tables. Found out later. We continued to sit there for another 15 minutes before a rather harried waitress with a very soft voice came over to ask about drinks. We had to ask her to repeat everything. I ordered a sweet tea and water. My honey ordered water. We also placed our order before she ran off because we feared if we said we needed more time she would not come around for another 15 minutes. After we placed our order we noticed the same waitress took orders from 3 other tables before ever heading towards the kitchen to put our orders in. We got our drinks and salsa and chips within 5 minutes. And then we waited another 35-40 minutes for our food to arrive.the water was tap water. Disgusting. The waitress did not check on us or come to tell us what the hold up was. We noticed that people who ordered after us got their food while we still waited for ours. We had a nice conversation going so it wasn't a huge deal.. but again I notice details. At one point my honey wanted a margarita that he saw on one of the TVs. We had to flag her down as she ran around the restaurant. Eventually the food arrived and we got a refill of the sweet tea and my honey got his margarita. I ordered mushroom tacos no sour cream and a cheesy chile relleno. My honey ordered steak tacos and he too got a chile relleno. When the food came my tacos had sour cream and the waitress took them back. She returned with my plate quickly. Reactions? The chile relleno had the distinct flavor of freezer burn. It wasn't awful but it sort of felt sub-par after that. I would not recommend it even though the parts that were not freezer burned tasted nice. The dish was pretty cold by the time I cut into it. Parts of the breading were cold and biting into it i felt like biting into a sponge and cold melt water squirted into my mouth. A bad experience. Do not order the chile relleno. Sad face The mushroom tacos, although equally cool in temperature, tasted very nice. The mushrooms were grilled and the flavors nice. Fresh sliced avocados made it creamy and gave the tacos a delicious flavor. Fresh pico really made it lovely. There was a rounded pile of reddish rice to one side of the plate which I did not feel belonged with this dish. The rice was cold and firm as if it had been sitting on that plate for a long while. It did not really have much of a taste but made the plate look fuller. The lettuce that came with the dish was very wet too. Obviously cleaned but left wet. No bueno. My honey loved the steak tacos. The biggest issue for him was that we waited so long for our food that we filled up on chips and salsa and were not able to finish everything on our plates. We did not see the waitress again after she dropped off the food till we flagged her down about the bill. The entire visit was close to 2 hours and the service was soooo bad. While we understand that 1 waitress serving half the restaurant due to understaffing is not the waitresses fault... the experience that she and the customers have suffers terribly. And while the restaurants understaffing issue isn't her fault, the fact that we barely saw a smile and did not feel very welcome by her at all was indeed her area. The food had the potential for excellence. The 3 stars in this review is for the food. The lack of 2 extra stars is for the shit service. Summary? Avoid the chile relleno, order the steak tacos and sweet tea. Mushroom tacos with only the pico and nothing else on the plate. Food was decent. Service was crap. Thanks. read more

We were a large group and I understand it can be a challenge serving a large party but I had a horrible experience overall. I'll start with the food... I'm not a picky eater but the food here was tasteless, they must've missed to add salt or any seasoning at all. I ordered fish tacos and I couldn't even eat one, the smell of fish was overwhelming. My brother ordered steak with a side of grilled onion and fried beans, he got the sides but server forgot to bring the steak. My dad was burned with the hot plate from the fajitas and he too needed to add salt. The beans were okay and the queso fundido with chorizo was delicious. I can't remember much else about the food besides they were out of so many things. I recall we asked for certain dishes and drinks and we were told they were out of the items. They couldn't even make a michelada. The service was completely lacking. This has been the WORST experience I've ever had at any restaurant. When I went up front to pay my check, the hostess/cashier (Araceli) was having a bad attitude. She processed payment and did not hand me the receipt to sign but instead threw it. I asked if she was upset and she said no. As I was walking out she was looking at me very rude from the corner of her eye and I asked her not to look at me that. Araceli then told me to shut the fuck up as she was helping another customer! I told her that she should not treat anyone this way especially not a customer and especially not in the presence of another customer. I asked to speak to her manager, Antonia, who did not seem to care what happened. She took it very lightly and said she needed to go back to work because they were shorthanded. I realized nothing would be done about this so I asked for a call from the owner and I never received a call. I followed up myself and was told the owner was on vacation.
