Very good but not mind-altering pozole, although I may have ordered wrong--this may well have been a 5* if I'd ordered a proper Mexico City special like I should have. Pozole had some of the freshest hominy I've tasted, and the broth was tasty although (crucially for my deducted point) not as intense a red chile flavor as I had hoped. The accompaniments were all good, with fresh radishes and some very fresh tortilla chips and some sort of cheese (I think Oaxacan, but I'm not sure?). I wouldn't make a special trip for the pozole in particular, but I'd happily detour to/from the airport to try more of their menu and update my review. read more

This was a very mixed experience. I stopped by for a late lunch. There was only one other table occupied, so it was not during a peak time. I ordered one red tamale, one green tamale, and two asada tacos. They explained they were out of green tamales, so I substituted a pastor taco for the green tamales, and added a side of crema. When I get my order, there are three tacos and a little round foil wrap, which I assumed was the red tamale. No crema. Okay, I can deal with that and just use sour cream at home. Except when I get home, I find out that the round foil pack was extra tortillas. Now, I have no tamale and no crema. The pastor taco was good. The asada taco was okay. I will go back because I am determined to try their tamales, but I am thoroughly double checking my order and won't try the asada tacos again. read more

What a hidden gem here in Indianapolis. I was blown away by my first visit. A couple buddies and I were starving after spending some time near the speedway. We popped in here on a random afternoon, and they were packed during lunch. We sat down, looked over the menus, and placed our orders. The place was clean, not too loud, and appropriately decorated. Service was to be expected for the type of place it is. Food was out fast. I had four steak tacos. Plenty of juicy steak with fresh veggies. Best tacos I've had in Indiana. I turned on my Yelp radar and ended up here. Forty-nine of Indy's top Yelpers say it's a 5.0. And I thought so too. The place is not fancy or upscale or trendy. It's a hole in the wall with 11 tables. You order at the counter and grab a seat. The menu is in Spanish but they gave me a partially English version when I looked baffled. The food looks authentic, not the usual enchiladas and pinto beans. The clerk is friendly and helpful. I ordered the Chicken Tacos Dorados, which are rolled up tacos that are deep fried and then covered with cream cheese, lettuce and avocado. The plate was so beautiful, it could have been served in a super high-end restaurant. And the tacos were crunchy and delicious. The avocado was perfectly ripe and creamy. My husband had the Tamales Fritos with chicken which were two large deep fried tamales, covered in a green sauce and topped with cheese. Again, beautiful, spicy and delicious plate. They have a kid's menu. The breakfast menu looks awesome too. When we left, the tables were full. The parking lot was also full. I recommend going off-peak hours. They don't take reservations. Excellent food - they offer 5 different tacos so I bought 5 tacos. Each one was special and flavorful. Great food I might come back tomorrow. Fresh food with fresh ingredients. I'm surprised they close at 7pm. The taco place by me stays open two nights a week until 2am. Grabbing all the late night pot heads, stoners and alcoholics out late sinning into the evening. As you enter the restaurant there are English and Spanish menu's on the wall by the door. Do not be surprised to find yourself waiting in a line outside the door. It's a small restaurant with tables that seat not more than 2 or 4 ppl at a table. It's a very authentic restaurant. The cashiers were friendly and efficient in getting my order. Was in town for Taylor swift and stumbled upon this hidden gem. Family owned business serving delicious Mexican food. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and the line was through the door. The restaurant is on the smaller side but cozy. We ordered and paid at the counter. The server taking the order was very nice. Service was quick, and served us a table to accommodate all the food we ordered. The horchata came out first and it tasted great. It was mixed well and has a good amount of cinnamon. Our tacos had a lot of meat in them and it was still hot which made it delicious. The fried tamale was unique to us and was surprisingly good. Their green sauce was one of the best I've had and brings a good sour flavor. It was my first time having the pambazo and it was great. The bread was fried and had a good crisp. It goes well with the steak and potatoes inside. The pozole rojo with pork was good as well. Good soup flavor and pork was very tender. We also got the tacos dorados and they were fried perfectly. Still fabulous! Arrived at 10:40am to an almost full restaurant, grabbed one of two empty tables after ordering at the counter. Ordered tacos dorados and enchiladas verde on this trip, food was out in 10 minutes! By 10:55am the line was out the door but service stayed fast. This is a top notch establishment. read more

We stopped in here on a Tuesday night to have a little a "Taco Tuesday" at home while watching a movie after work. It is a very small space inside due to the dining area being immediately to the left and then a small walkway up to the register with no designated to/from traffic (just kinda trying to squeeze around people). All of the staff and other customers were very friendly though! They have a large digital menu in English and Spanish above the registers, but they also have English and Spanish versions of their menu on the entry way table. We each got 2 tacos (I got the pastor, he got the campechano) and a Gordita clasica. We got home to plate them and pair with some chips, salsa, and guacamole and were pleasantly surprised at how THICK the tacos were. They were piled with meat, cilantro, and onions. Definitely the best price point for the amount of food out of any taco spot on the West side we have tried so far. Both were very flavorful and had tender meat, nothing was overcooked or dried out. The Gordita clasica was also really flavorful and I loved the different textures. The orange hot sauces are always our favorite everywhere we go for tacos and we were not disappointed! So spicy and had great flavor. The green hot sauce had a slight hint of heat to it as well and was also very tasty. We can't wait to come back and try more off of their menu! read more

They have some awesome stuff from Mexico City on the walls. There is usually a line when you walk in, but service is pretty fast. I have tried tacos, gorditas, torta de chilaquiles and fried tamales. This is our third time here. I had the Torta de Chilaquiles with the chicken Milanese (breaded chicken) which was a nice touch. The flavor combination of the salsa verde (green salsa) with the smothered tortilla chips combined with the chicken sandwich is hands down the best sandwich in Indianapolis I have ever had. I was greedy and also has had the Quesadillas Fritas con Chorizo, it was okay. My wife had a mug of champurrado to drink and Pozole Rojo de Pollo (which is a healthier option to the traditional pork). We will continue to eat here. The service is great and the food is spectacular. The lines can be long though so beware, but good things come to those who wait. read more

Holy smokes! So delish!! It's been a year since I have been to La Ciudad de Mexico and this little "hole in the wall" restaurant really surpassed my expectations! I had their Pozole Verde and it was absolutely fresh and delicious! I am a vegetarian and they made sure that there was no meat in my soup at all! My husband had 2 carne asada street tacos and they were chuck full of meat and he said delicious!! We will most definitely be back as it satisfied my craving for some very good Mexican food! I am a recent transplant from Southern California where the Mexican food is pretty amazing. This is the first place I have found in Indiana that even comes close! This little hole in the wall, is putting out the best street tacos, I have ever eaten. It's not cheap, but everything is really fresh and hot. I got 3 tacos, a pastor, an Azada, and a campechano. They were all delicious, but the campechano was my favorite. It was so good, that I ordered another one. The agua fresco was a real surprise. I got the one with lemon mint and cucumber, and I was amazed at how good it was. They would be awesome on a hot summer day. I can't wait to go back and try the other things on the menu. It's very small and very popular so just know that you'll wait in line to order and then a little for your food. We ordered to-go (that was the plan from the get-go) but the kind worker said she could find a place for us to sit because she thought we were getting to go because they're busy. I recommend looking at the menu ahead of time to keep the line moving if you're going during a busy time of day. It's small and quaint, but they make the most of their space.
