Chilangos- why did I not come here sooner? They have so many good reviews and my experience today told me why! To be honest I was a bit disappointed that they don't have any soft drink options without sugar. They don't have any diet soda so if you don't want the sugary sodas then water is the only option. But that didn't even matter because my food was great. I almost preferred tacos but as soon as I saw that they had shrimp tostadas, I changed my mind and go them instead. One order is 3 tostadas. The order came in about 5 minutes. They came with a lot of shrimp, onions and cilantro. Very flavorful. I used to go to a different Mexican restaurant for tostadas, but going forward this is my new spot! They are cheaper here too. This is a no frills authentic Mexican restaurant. The inside is pretty unassuming but the staff was friendly and the menu has your typical Mexican dishes. I got three tacos Al pastor and two steak as well as a chicken tostada. I love that they are fast it took less than five minutes to get my food. Let me tell you it smelled and looked so good. I love the salsa bar fresh cut veggies and multiple salsa options. That red salsa is nothing to play with. It's good but hot and I'm someone who can handle a lot of heat. Tacos were loaded with meat. This is our absolute favorite taco spot in town. Staff is friendly and know our order by heart, and the food is always hot, fresh, and there is plenty of meat on the tacos. I love the toppings bar! Literally stop what you are doing right now, and run to Chilangos. I stopped in here on a recommendation from a colleague and grabbed some tacos to-go. I'm always a little bit careful the first time I try a place and now that I have devoured both of my tacos I wish I wasn't like that because I want more! I ordered a steak and chicken taco with cheese and sour cream for carry out. They were amazing!!! Stuffed to the max with flavorful, hot, meat. The cheese and the (homemade?) sour cream melded deliciously together like a hot gooey cheese sauce. To top that, there's a fresh toppings bar with things like cucumbers, pico, and several salsas. You guys, there is a guacamole sauce on this bar that I would eat on a shoe. It's like taking an avocado, cilantro, jalapeño grenade to the face! In the most wonderful way possible of course. The service was great too! The helpful younger guy (so sorry, I didn't catch his name) helped me with the sauces on the bar. This is also a grocery store so while I was waiting on my food I grabbed some chicharrones and some Takis hot peanuts. 10/10 would recommend to anyone! Found this spot after looking for Mexican food near the Airbnb I stayed in. We sat down wherever we pleased and the waitress came quickly to get out order. She recommended the days specials. Fresh tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, cucumber, radishes, Pico de Gallo, Salsa Verde, Cilantro Jalapeno Lime Sauce, and classic Red Sauce. The tacos are so good though, they don't even need any toppings or sauce! They don't just cater to la Raza. If you want the tacos Gringo-style, they have you covered: sour cream, cheese, lettuce, guacamole burritos, crunchy taco shells, et cetera. They are not at the bar, however, and may cost extra. A hidden gem! Hideous building. Incredibly delicious food. I love the food here so much. My family does too. In fact, it is SO GOOD that the horrible building isn't even a deal breaker! That really speaks to how special this restaurant's cooking is because the building is part of a mini strip mall that needed renovations thirty years ago. My coworkers and I love to try each other's favorite restaurants, but everyone has agreed that this place is the best. Its located in a tiny strip center near Community East Hospital. The space looks small and unassuming. Upon opening the front door you find a few shelves with items for sale, a check out counter, tables, a fixings bar, and booths scattered around the room and a bar in the corner. We migrated towards the table area and took a seat. Within a minute a lovely young lady came over to help us. We both ordered chicken tacos with cheese and sour cream and they were awesome! I tried cilantro, onion, a little of the hot sauce, and fresh squeezed lime from the fixins' bar. It was a flavor sensation! I can't wait to go back and try a burrito or another menu item. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be tacos. And they have great ones. I have tried the Asada (steak) and Al Pastor (pork and pineapple). The Al Pastor are the best in the area, very flavorful. Toppings and sides like limes, onions, cilantro, radish, cucumbers and sauces are on the side at a salad bar for you to put in a container. They do have a small dining area and it is a small store inside also. I like this place for ordering at the counter and takeout. Today I got 1 asada, 2 pastor and a bottle of coke. If you are looking for nice decor and atmosphere this is not it. However! If you are looking for amazing food this is the place! I was on my way to a sandwhich chain store when I passed by and immediately looked at yelped review. I turned around and am I glad I did! When I walked in I was immediately greeted by an older lady who was ready to take my order. All of their staff is older, as if I was going to my grandparents for tacos. There were a few ladies in the kitchen and an older gentlemen asking guests to sit and busing tables. I ordered a torta de asada and it was great! It was also only $4.99. The veggies inside were fresh and the meat had good flavor. They also have a cart in the middle of the restaurant with cucumbers, chiles, salsas, and cilantro/onion so you can add as much as you can. This place is half Mexican grocery and half restaurant/bar. Owners are really nice and also run the bakery in the same strip. The variety of meat/fillings was extensive. First time stopping by. The restaurant is larger than you would expect standing outside. Definitely enough room to bring the family. Probably 8 tables inside. Very clean and very friendly. I got the asada burrito and it was excellent. The vegetables were crisp and fresh and the seasoning was perfect. I can't wait to try the tacos. Very quick as well. Tucked away in a strip mall west of Arlington Ave. on 16th street is this hidden gem. It's a little Mexican grocery store with a great taqueria inside. They serve beer and have Negro Modelo on tap! I go straight for the Al Pastor toastada. It's huge and tasty, with nice roasted pineapple in with the pork. A trip to the salsa/side bar will get you all the toppings you need, including tasty pickled carrots/onions/jalepenos, cilantro, pico and a couple salsas. Next door is a Mexican bakery! read more
