    Corn tamales are excellent!

I love the tamales here. I've been going to The Tamale Place since they were in the old location just on the corner of Lynhurst and Rockville Road. The tamales are a 1/2 lb. and so fresh. They make tamales twice a day. You will find an electronic board next to the cash register with the type, and number, of tamales available. The board is automatically updated as tamales are ordered. They do run out of tamales throughout the day. I often buy what I want early in the day and reheat for dinner. The tamales reheat well. One of my other favorites are the nachos. Several toppings are not included and you'll pay an upcharge but worth it. I don't recommend the guacomole or sour cream. I love both but theirs has a funky taste. You can dine inside but there are only a few tables. I'd say a majority of the food is carryout. The line might be long but you'll be out before you know it. It's quicker than fast food restaurants. Try the corn, pumpkin or the chocolate tamale if they haven't run out. If you find yourself on the westside or craving a tamale, stop by.

Family owned business with hand made tamales that are delicious, and their ice machine makes chipped/shaved ice! I got a spicy chipotle chicken and a sweet corn tamale. This is the sweet heat combo, it's fantastic. Richelle got a sweet corn tamale, with a steak and tilapia taco. The mild salsa for the taco had a purée texture and a little kick, I put it on my tamales. Richelle thought it was too spicy for her, it really wasn't. Service is fast and friendly, and we were there on Christmas Eve, so they were playing Christmas music, tamales and classic Christmas music was fun. These are hand made with love, so they do run out of some tamales, check the board for what is available.

I wasnt greeted when I walked in but I was greeted at the counter. Great customer service. The bathroom was clean. My food was made to order so it was a small wait. There were chairs available while I waited. I ordered two tacos and a tamale. I live 40m away so I wasnt able to eat the food hot but it was still good.

Happened to be close and it's been awhile since I've been here. The decor is first class and love the upbeat Atmosphere. Counter service is amazing and as always the food is top notch and full of great flavors. I got a spicy green pork and an onion nd cheese tamale and both were delicious. This place never disappoints.

The tamale place is awesome for lunch. I work around the corner and it's always an easy stop for a good rice bowl. Their ingredients are fresh, their chips are crispy and their service is friendly. Save room for a tamale from their daily list. Everything about the restaurant is nice and clean and bright.

A storefront in a strip mall, the Tamale Place is an interesting location. Inside, order at the counter and it doesn't take long for them to pull your tamales, plate them and you're ready to eat. The current selection is on the board and I chose the "Hot & Spicy Pork" and a "Bean and Rice." A good mix as the hot and spicy was indeed both hot and spicy. It was very helpful to have a regular with some carbs to cut some of that heat. I am not a tamale expert and so I can't say that these were fantastic or that they exceeded expectations. But they were tasty, a big portion and I enjoyed them. [Round number review 1300 of 2024 - 177 in Indiana - 22323 overall]

I've only ever done carryout. The restaurant is located in a working class neighborhood on the west side of Indy. Doesn't look like much on the outside but the inside is nice and clean the entire well organized kitchen is visible. The Tamales are some of the best I've ever had. Good size, Just the right amount of Masa and a generous filling. May Please note, spicy means spicy. The pork, chicken verde and chipotle beef are all delicious and filling. Service is polite and efficient.

Five years going strong with our Christmas Eve *Eve* tradition of tamales and other treats from Tamale Place. We ordered enough food for ten folks- tamales (including pineapple raisin dessert tamales), cheese, tortilla chips, black beans, salsa and loaded chicken nachos. If you leave here with nothing else, make sure you order their tortilla chips and salsa (it is the best around!). Both are homemade and exceptional. Calling ahead to order was a smooth process. I miss their downtown location but it's worth the drive to Rockville Road.

We saw this on Guy Feiri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives the night before our Indy trip so knew we had to try it. It is a small spot in a strip mall by a liquor store so I think qualifies as a dive. You order at a counter and sit down and they deliver to your table. The food....omg I would be back weekly if we lived here. They had an amazing amount of flavors of tamales, even sweet ones. They had spicy or not spicy choices which was great. We had the spicy chipotle chicken tamale with a side of queso. Divine! Also beef tamales and a steak torta. My son hadn't had a torta before and he was won over! They had meal options too that came with beans and rice I believe. The tamales were big and flavorful and the queso was so good. The steak in the torta was tender and seasoned well and overflowing!

The Tamale Place offers a great mix of local charm and fast-casual convenience. The portions are generous, and the pricing is very reasonable--my wife and I spent just $20 and left with leftovers! One of the standout items was the large nachos. Despite being smothered in queso, the chips somehow stayed crisp, making for a delicious and satisfying meal. It's the kind of place that delivers on both quality and value.

This is my new favorite lunch near my office in Speedway. It's kind of an interesting concept; you walk in and there's a little television screen High up, and to the right to tell you what types of tamales they have that day and how many are left. I've been trying something different every time I've visited. This time I tried the spicy pork and the green chicken enchiladas. I went with coworkers and we giggled because we got a little overboard on the queso and the chips. We ordered a large queso and a large bag of chips. We really love queso on everything so we should've just got a small bag of chips and a large container of queso... We had lots of leftover chips. The chips are cooked fresh, it is hard to settle for any chip out of a bag from the grocery store after you have these. You have been warned

Naturally, I pulled up the Yelp app to search for something open nearby for recommendations. Turns out Delicia is one of my friend's boyfriend's favorite restaurant in Broad Ripple. They both frequent the restaurants in that area as they live in the neighborhood so that's definitely saying something and I can see why based on the vibe and atmosphere! We were only there for drinks (which were amazing) and they were definitely worth making another trip for. I ordered the "Pulparindo" which is slightly spicy tamarind vodka, fresh mango puree, raw sugar simple, lime juice and a yummy tajin rim. I would have had more of it wasn't last call when we placed our order. Another popular choice was the "FIRE 'N' Ice" made with el charro jalapeño infused reposado tequila, hibiscus I basil I habanero reduction, tres chiles infused ice ball. Beautiful presentation with all the drinks. Our waitress was great and attentive. I also really liked how I felt instantly in a better mood in that space and I will be going back again for dinner soon.

If you're in town and looking for a more upscale experience with a Caribbean/Spanish cuisine then I would recommend this spot.

It was a cool-looking restaurant and felt like a cozy spot. My food came out looking amazing, and it tasted great. I got the Mac n Cheese Donuts and the Grilled Crispy Chicken Burrito. My issue was mainly with the service. From the time my friend and I were seated, it took 15 minutes for us to be greeted, and we had been sitting there for more than 20 minutes before we received our drinks and had a chance to order our food. This was during the early afternoon with very little foot traffic, so I personally don't see why there was such a delay in what could've been a smooth experience. I also asked for a to-go box but was never brought one, so I had to leave my leftovers behind in order to walk to work and make it there on time. I would try this place again, but maybe next time I would sit at the bar to make the interaction quicker and easier.

WOW! This is my new favorite restaurant!…read more I grew up in Southern California; Mexican food is comfort food. As a new(ish) vegan, I was resigned to cooking my own, whenever I craved Mexican food... but at Tlaolli, I was spoiled for choice! I ended up trying the hibiscus taco (clever, creative, with a wonderful melding of spices and a punch of bright acidity), the tofu mole taco (smoky and creamy, with well-balanced spices), and the Nonono tamale (no meat, no dairy, no gluten), which was roasted poblano peppers and soy chorizo with black bean paste and corn masa (a bit dry, but super flavorful and great chew). And there was housemade tamarindo, which I have always loved, and it wasn't over-sweetened, which I loved even more. Tart and bright and refreshing! His Goatness the Hubbins got a mixed platter of vegan tacos (I was proud of him), and dad got meat items, which he enjoyed (the owner let us know all meats are all natural, with no hormones). And we all shared salsa and chips, which was smooth and well-flavored, with lots of spices but only mild heat. (I could have drunk the stuff.) Atmosphere is intimate and cozy, with a few tables inside the colorful cafe and a few painted picnic tables outside. Everything is clean and tidy, including the restroom. Service was friendly, sociable, and passionate about the food they're creating. Seriously, I love this place. Can't wait to try more of the vegan menu options!
