Such an interesting little spot! Don't be scared away by the outside because this place knows how to cook with some FLAVOR! I ordered the Quesa Birria tacos and they were absolutely delish! The sauces they made were both incredible too! I'd come back, no question about it! read more

Mota Tacos - Quesabirria Tacos ( 3 Tacos ) - Tacos Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

This tiny hole-in-the-wall taco shop on Indy's south side offers a full menu of tacos, burritos, tamales and more. The shop has one table and a small counter for dine in. Most of their business is carry out. We ordered at the counter, pay and wait for our food. I was disappointed that they did not have the Tamales de Mole and opted for a Tamale with red chicken. The tamale was one of the best that I've had in Indy. The chicken was moist with a lot of great spices. The tamale came wrapped in a banana leaf! I also had a Shrimp Taco. The shrimp was perfectly cooked with a great mix of spices. My husband really liked his steak taco. Sauces are available. I liked the verde sauce. The pickle onions are very HOT - beware! Prices are really reasonable. The shop is next to a gas station and is an easy on/off of US 465. Seating is limited so be prepared to carry out. They take phone ahead orders. Their breakfast menu is small. I want to try the breakfast burrito next visit. read more

Used to be a good place. New staff is horrible and you will miss your lunch waiting on them even if you call in the order

The carne asada tacos and quesabirria tacos are my go-to items from Mota. The carne asada can be ordered individually, but quesabirria tacos are ordered in a set of 3. If you are ordering in person, ask if they have tamales. Both the red and green tamales are fantastic. The chips with queso is also very good. This is for sure in my top 3 Mexican options in Indy and we order there at least once per month. Seating is limited inside, so we always do carry out, and our order is always hot, fresh, and accurate. read more

Amazing tacos . The nacho are to die for. The service was amazing. Can't wait to go back

Unsuspectingly wonderful, fresh Mexican food nestled between a barber shop and gas station. Don't let the location dissuade you from trying this fantastic food. My wife doesn't usually eat food connected to a gas station, but this had a full wall between and she really liked it! Friendly and inviting staff are helpful. Menu has a ton of options and customizations. Small area to eat with a few chairs or stand. This is the second time I have been here. On this trip, tried the nachos which were excellent top to bottom. The refried beans tied the dish together with a base of crisp-not too oily chips on the bottom, shredded lettuce, queso, shredded cheese, jalapenos, perfectly seasoned steak (my preference is to normally shy away from steak at Mexican restaurants just because it can be a little bit chewy sometimes but this one was good. Would try the nachos with a shredded meat next time of which they had lots of options to choose from). Filling platter that I only needed to eat half of but couldn't stop. Easily shareable. Wanted you Yelpers to have some pictures of the layers. Can't go wrong with anything here. Recommend stopping if you were within a 10 mile radius or more! Kudos Mota. P.S. the website link here on Yelp does not lead to their website but they are working to fix it read more

This is a small joint located in a gas station mall between a barber shop and the gas station convienance store. It is a decent amout of parking available. They have latin music playing throughout the restaurant. The lobby is very small and has a table with a few chairs and bar seating along the wall that is available for dining. The staff there was friendly and helpful. They serve your Mexican favorites including tacos, nachos, elote, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, chimichangas, and enchiladas. They also serve wings and a Mexican burger. Be on the look out for their weekly specials. I got an order of their esquites and three birria tacos. It took about 5 minutes for them to prepare my food. It was fresh and hot. The tacos were delicious, very flavorful. The corn was pretty good, but I felt it was a tad too strong. It was still on the much better end of esquites that I had before. I got some horchata to wash my food down. It was really good. It tasted like rice pudding. I highly recommend it. Don't let this place being located in a gas station fool you. They have some very good and authentic Mexican food here. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area. read more

This hidden gem is located at a gas station next to a barber shop - but don't let the location throw you off! Tasty, authentic Mexican food - restaurant quality and flavor at take - out prices. The Birria tacos were delicious with the dipping sauce, and their classic salsa that comes with the chips is solid with a bit of heat. The shrimp taco was full and flavorful. The sope was crisp with the slight chew I like - with a rich pile of carnitas. Found this "hole in the wall" by happy accident - we'll be back! read more

I found this little gem on the way to work and I'm so glad I did. Dang, those carnitas tacos are FIRE! The shop is at a BP gas station, but it has its own separate space with a little bit of seating and a restroom. The atmosphere is lively and you can hear that everyone in the kitchen is having fun cooking. They were quick to welcome me and it only took about 5 minutes to get my food. I was not a fan of the elotes, although I don't have much experience with it elsewhere. The cup was really big, so my first spoonful was just cheese and mayo. I ended up taking off the thick layer of cheese to get to the corn. Let's go back to the tacos though. They were $3 each, had a perfect tortilla, delicious meat and toppings, and weren't greasy. If I keep going back they may even end up becoming my favorite tacos in the city. read more

Do not shy away from this true hidden gem. Located between a gas station and a barber shop, this incredible restaurant should not be missed. Food was incredible and reasonably priced. I got rice, beans, tamales, and a drink for $15. The food was incredible--full of flavor. Then employees working were kind, gave great recommendations, and worked hard. At lunch, there was a line out the door. Staff worked hard to make each order in a quick, efficient manner. Inside is nothing fancy. There a counter and small table to dine at, but it works. Very impressed! read more

Mota Tacos - Tamales with a side of rice and beans - Tacos Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Found this place on Indy food lovers and I really wanted to like it but oh well. Service was not very warm however, that's not the biggest deal. The tacos tasted nothing like they were hyped up to be. The sauces did not help it taste any better either. The prices are very affordable but still don't make the food worth it in my opinion. I'll rather pay $1 extra per taco and actually get good tasting tacos. Meat to tortilla ratio was disappointing. I looked at their menu and planned on coming back for to try their brirria but no thanks! read more

Mota Taco is the best! I stop by every time I'm in the area. Great for a quick meal on the way to the airport or on a road trip.

really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, which felt excessive considering it wasn't even peak hours. When the tacos finally arrived, they were disappointingly salty--so much so that it overwhelmed the other flavors. The kitchen seems disorganized. Hoping it was just an off day, but not sure I'd rush back read more

I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! I don't know how I didn't notice this place open about a month ago since I drive past it everyday on the way to work. It's in/adjacent to a gas station but don't let that scare you off. My first experience was when we had a meeting with "light snacks" at work and they had catered chips and salsa from here. Chips and salsa is a whole meal because I'm going to eat all of it and then some more, but I digress. Everyone was talking about the new place that just opened and I knew what I was doing for lunch the next day. The salsa had lots of fresh cilantro and onions and the chips were really sturdy. Perfect combo. We stopped in for lunch today around noon and there were a few groups of people ahead of us. But, the line went super quick. The menu is concise, but there's still lots of options. There is a small lobby with some bar seating if you want to eat indoors. You can order at the counter and wait or you can order ahead of time online or by phone and pick it up. I went with the nachos since that is what my coworker recommended. I added steak as well. The aforementioned sturdy chips held up perfectly to all the cheese, guac, and steak. Everything was delicious and it was a lot of nachos for the price. My brother had a steak burrito and was so impressed with how it was layered and wrapped. It didn't fall apart and it was super full of beans filler. The salsas that come on the side were so good. The green was my favorite, it was tangy and spicy. The red definitely had a kick of garlic. The horchata was delicious. Do yourself a favor and just order the large. I'm so excited to finally have a new lunch option by work and even more excited that it's delicious and affordable. I'm sure we will be here at least once a week. All of the staff were super friendly and took the time to package everything well and make everything ought even though they were super busy. read more

If you are tired of all the bland Mexican restaurants in Indianapolis then I would definitely recommend Mota Tacos! If you think all of the Mexican restaurants in Indianapolis are great then try Mota Tacos to experience what real Mexican food should taste like! This little place is a gem! Don't let the location fool you. It is a small carry out attached to the BP gas station. There is bar seating and one table if you needed to stop for a quick bite, but this is mostly carry out. We probably waited 15 minutes after ordering, but it all the food tasted fresh and full of flavor! Don't miss this delicious experience! read more

I went to Mota Tacos today for the first time after a recommendation from a coworker. I ordered a steak burrito and chorizo taco. Both were delicious. It took less than 10 minutes to get my food. Seating is limited, but that was no problem since I was taking it back to work to eat. The burrito was huge and more than I would normally eat for lunch, but it was delicious. Pretty good burrito however, I don't think rice belongs in a burrito. Rice should be a side order with beans or something but definitely not in the burrito. A authentic Chicago style burrito consist of Beans, cheese, steak, lettuce, tomato, sour cream & avocado. read more

This place is gonna give Gils Tacos a run for their money!! Located just inside 465 off Kentucky Ave, next to the BP. Great location, easy access, super clean restaurant, very friendly staff but let me tell you about the food. I had just 1 Supreme taco to give them a try. The meat is tender, juicy, cooked properly and the flavor... wow. I was offered a sample of their specialty, the birria and I was blown away. Its made of beef.. idk what they are doing to that beef though cause it almost taste like goat. Carnitas the same, perfect. Im big on salsas and they gave me 3 bottles to try. From Left to right, the 1st is a Salsa Verde (assuming tomatillos) Sometimes that can taste tangy due to an imbalance of ingredients but theirs was on point. Not very spicy. The Red salsa is deep chili flavor, no acidity, also not very spicy. The last 1 is a creamy green salsa with a kick. Loved them all. Definitely coming back to try more items, especially with the value and quality for my money. read more
