Nachos- the smashed/refried burns were a deep red and tied the dish together well.

Unsuspectingly wonderful, fresh Mexican food nestled between a barber shop and gas station. Don't let the location dissuade you from trying this fantastic food. My wife doesn't usually eat food connected to a gas station, but this had a full wall between and she really liked it! Friendly and inviting staff are helpful. Menu has a ton of options and customizations. Small area to eat with a few chairs or stand. This is the second time I have been here. On this trip, tried the nachos which were excellent top to bottom. The refried beans tied the dish together with a base of crisp-not too oily chips on the bottom, shredded lettuce, queso, shredded cheese, jalapenos, perfectly seasoned steak (my preference is to normally shy away from steak at Mexican restaurants just because it can be a little bit chewy sometimes but this one was good. Would try the nachos with a shredded meat next time of which they had lots of options to choose from). Filling platter that I only needed to eat half of but couldn't stop. Easily shareable. Wanted you Yelpers to have some pictures of the layers. Can't go wrong with anything here. Recommend stopping if you were within a 10 mile radius or more! Kudos Mota. P.S. the website link here on Yelp does not lead to their website but they are working to fix it

This is a small joint located in a gas station mall between a barber shop and the gas station convienance store. It is a decent amout of parking available. They have latin music playing throughout the restaurant. The lobby is very small and has a table with a few chairs and bar seating along the wall that is available for dining. The staff there was friendly and helpful. They serve your Mexican favorites including tacos, nachos, elote, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, chimichangas, and enchiladas. They also serve wings and a Mexican burger. Be on the look out for their weekly specials. I got an order of their esquites and three birria tacos. It took about 5 minutes for them to prepare my food. It was fresh and hot. The tacos were delicious, very flavorful. The corn was pretty good, but I felt it was a tad too strong. It was still on the much better end of esquites that I had before. I got some horchata to wash my food down. It was really good. It tasted like rice pudding. I highly recommend it. Don't let this place being located in a gas station fool you. They have some very good and authentic Mexican food here. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

I found this little gem on the way to work and I'm so glad I did. Dang, those carnitas tacos are FIRE! The shop is at a BP gas station, but it has its own separate space with a little bit of seating and a restroom. The atmosphere is lively and you can hear that everyone in the kitchen is having fun cooking. They were quick to welcome me and it only took about 5 minutes to get my food. I was not a fan of the elotes, although I don't have much experience with it elsewhere. The cup was really big, so my first spoonful was just cheese and mayo. I ended up taking off the thick layer of cheese to get to the corn. Let's go back to the tacos though. They were $3 each, had a perfect tortilla, delicious meat and toppings, and weren't greasy. If I keep going back they may even end up becoming my favorite tacos in the city.

One of the best taco spots in Indy!! We tried the asada, pastor, and campechano tacos, which were all seasoned to perfection and delicious. Don't forget to try the guac!

Do not shy away from this true hidden gem. Located between a gas station and a barber shop, this incredible restaurant should not be missed. Food was incredible and reasonably priced. I got rice, beans, tamales, and a drink for $15. The food was incredible--full of flavor. Then employees working were kind, gave great recommendations, and worked hard. At lunch, there was a line out the door. Staff worked hard to make each order in a quick, efficient manner. Inside is nothing fancy. There a counter and small table to dine at, but it works. Very impressed!

Found this place on Indy food lovers and I really wanted to like it but oh well. Service was not very warm however, that's not the biggest deal. The tacos tasted nothing like they were hyped up to be. The sauces did not help it taste any better either. The prices are very affordable but still don't make the food worth it in my opinion. I'll rather pay $1 extra per taco and actually get good tasting tacos. Meat to tortilla ratio was disappointing. I looked at their menu and planned on coming back for to try their brirria but no thanks!

Wow!!!! This taco spot is a must have!!! A very authentic family owned restaurant. The taste alone stood out with all original ingredients. Alot of options to choose from. Very fast service and staff was very friendly and inviting. If you like spice you have to try the pickled onions

If you are tired of all the bland Mexican restaurants in Indianapolis then I would definitely recommend Mota Tacos! If you think all of the Mexican restaurants in Indianapolis are great then try Mota Tacos to experience what real Mexican food should taste like! This little place is a gem! Don't let the location fool you. It is a small carry out attached to the BP gas station. There is bar seating and one table if you needed to stop for a quick bite, but this is mostly carry out. We probably waited 15 minutes after ordering, but it all the food tasted fresh and full of flavor! Don't miss this delicious experience!

I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! I don't know how I didn't notice this place open about a month ago since I drive past it everyday on the way to work. It's in/adjacent to a gas station but don't let that scare you off. My first experience was when we had a meeting with "light snacks" at work and they had catered chips and salsa from here. Chips and salsa is a whole meal because I'm going to eat all of it and then some more, but I digress. Everyone was talking about the new place that just opened and I knew what I was doing for lunch the next day. The salsa had lots of fresh cilantro and onions and the chips were really sturdy. Perfect combo. We stopped in for lunch today around noon and there were a few groups of people ahead of us. But, the line went super quick. The menu is concise, but there's still lots of options. There is a small lobby with some bar seating if you want to eat indoors. You can order at the counter and wait or you can order ahead of time online or by phone and pick it up. I went with the nachos since that is what my coworker recommended. I added steak as well. The aforementioned sturdy chips held up perfectly to all the cheese, guac, and steak. Everything was delicious and it was a lot of nachos for the price. My brother had a steak burrito and was so impressed with how it was layered and wrapped. It didn't fall apart and it was super full of beans filler. The salsas that come on the side were so good. The green was my favorite, it was tangy and spicy. The red definitely had a kick of garlic. The horchata was delicious. Do yourself a favor and just order the large. I'm so excited to finally have a new lunch option by work and even more excited that it's delicious and affordable. I'm sure we will be here at least once a week. All of the staff were super friendly and took the time to package everything well and make everything ought even though they were super busy.

Don't let this place being located next to a gas station discourage you from going in. You won't be dissatisfied. Quick service, amount of food is great, good food and fast casual place.

I went to Mota Tacos today for the first time after a recommendation from a coworker. I ordered a steak burrito and chorizo taco. Both were delicious. It took less than 10 minutes to get my food. Seating is limited, but that was no problem since I was taking it back to work to eat. The burrito was huge and more than I would normally eat for lunch, but it was delicious. I can't wait to go back to explore more of the menu.

I like a dim atmosphere, but it was hardly lit enough to read the menu. It was difficult to navigate as it was mostly in Spanish. Extremely limited vegetarian options which I'm not sure I can assume were actually without chicken base in the rice, etc. I didn't even see a vegetable fajita on the menu. My vegetarian burrito sans crema and cheese consisted of little more than rice and a couple small diced pieces of avocado and diced tomato. Iceberg lettuce? I saw corn niblets and a pea fall out. Bland. Hot sauce choices not fantastic. What kind of burrito contains no beans?? Everyone else at my table received flatware. I was given a plastic fork. Once I received an actual fork & knife, they kept tearing the paper underneath my burrito. Strangely served with raw cucumber (ick) & lime wedges on the side. Edible at best. The atmosphere looked interesting upon entry, but it felt grungy, the chairs were heavy. I was seated right next to a brick wall/chimney. Service was sparse. Definite language barrier. The dish my companions received was an array of meat in a molcajete. Mixed feedback on the peppers being ungodly too hot & some of it, especially the sausage, having a good flavor. It was massive & messy. It was interesting initially but definitely didn't look appetizing to me. That came with a bowl of beans in sauce with what we later discovered were Chicharrón on top. It looked like boiled mystery chicken skin. A friend from SoCal I consulted online had no idea what it was from my photo as we tried to discern it & they didn't realize it was even Mexican food from the appearance. It was assumed I was at an Asian joint. We had to ask for drink refills far into our meal. I was given a fresh new cup. The server took another person's cup from the table and refilled it in the back. That was strange and seemed unsanitary. We didn't get everything we asked for. I'd say language was the problem except for the fact the server had understood my requests when "crema" was the only Spanish word I used. Ladies' room had room for one person at a time. The sink was backing up. It felt dingy like the rest of the building. I'm glad they had paper towels and not just a hand blower. I didn't choose the restaurant. It was one of the worst if not THE most horrible Mexican meals & experiences I've had in my life. Hard pass. I'd gladly pay more for better fare elsewhere. I can make far superior at home.

The tacos (your choice of protein) were $1.49 each. I was honestly surprised that they had plenty of onions, cilantro, two different sauces & a baggie of radishes & limes for that price. I will say, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the shredded chicken although clearly seasoned (color wise) with sazon, it was dried completely out with only a hint of flavor. I added the green sauce on the chicken ones and it gave it a little umph but then I tasted the amazing seasoning in the rice and beans & WOW. I put a little of both on the chicken tacos and that was just what they needed. All in all the tacos were an 8/10 and the rice+beans were 10/10. The rice was cooked perfectly & the best compliment to the soupy beans. Parking: TERRIBLY positioned & shared lot, spots are tight & all the businesses stay with a crowd. Service: the cashier wasn't unpleasant BUT I had every intention on sitting down and eating inside (they have about 8 tables and 4 small booths) but she assumed I wanted it to-go without asking me as she asked the family of Spanish/hispanic/latino/a heritage before AND after me. In the moment I didn't feel slighted because I think I was just so tired & hangry but it definitely is memorable now that I'm writing the review a day later. I could have very well corrected her and said I wanted to dine in but I'm not one to force it when I feel unwanted or unwelcomed . This by no means discredits the food, it was wonderful & so was the price. I wouldn't go as far as to say I'll never be back because it would be a lie - what I WILL do moving forward is speak up for myself as it could have been done unintentionally.
