Love, love, love Tacos 46! My husband and I have been eating here for years and it's one of our west-side favorites. We have never had a bad meal here and usually only get take-out. I also stop in here with friends from work for lunch every once in a while, which is what I did last week. We sat outside since the weather was so nice (there isn't a patio, just one table that can sit 3). My friends got different supreme tacos and a dip trip for us all to split and I ordered pastor tacos and a cheese quesadilla (not pictured). The pastor tacos were so tender and flavorful, as usual, and the pineapple strips on top were a great touch, though we don't ever get those on our to-go pastor tacos. I'm not sure if it's something nee that they are doing, if it's only for dining in, or as stock allows. The cheese quesadilla was much bigger than I was expecting (based off of what I've received from other tacos spots on the west side), so next time I would only order 2 tacos if I wanted a quesadilla as well. Their portions are great for the price, which is another reason why we love them so much. My friends both enjoyed their tacos and the dip trio was really tasty. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu from Tacos 46.
From the moment you enter, this restaurant, you can tell it will be a unique experience. I got the tacos de asada (steak) i was a bit disappointed, they were pretty dry and not very well seasoned, the torta cubana had some flavor to it, but no depth, what you see is what you get, lastly, the birria taco, was very underwhelming, there was fatty tissue in the taco (which I hate), the meat did not have seasoning, the consume tasted bland and had so much fat, that it overwhelmed the flavors. The real stars of the show are the salsas!! The red salsa will have you confessing your secrets as it is so spicy and unforgiving, the green salsa in slightly milder and more tolerable. Both were enjoyable, as I love spicy food, however, this was a different level of spicy. I loved that they gave you a side of seasoned onions, radishes, and limes to tie the tacos and torta together. I would be willing to try other things in their menu, as I have head some of their dishes are great. They have a bakery behind their eating area, so I am looking forward to try their sweat bread. Overall. I liked that your ordered on the counter, and someone brought you your food. The servers were very nice and attentive, and overall, this is a chill spot.
Taco 46 is located on the west side, right outside of Speedway. They have a parking lot out front. Inside there is seating and the restaurant is connected to a bakery that offers traditional Mexican desserts. It took a while before someone greeted me, but staff were friendly while I took my order. I grabbed a chicken taco and the cecina especial. The chicken was abundant, tender and flavorful. I was actually able to use a tortilla from my home to make another since I had so much chicken. The specialty steak taco was amazing. The tortillas were stuff with cheese. The guac was fresh and the pico added the perfect balance.
Such an amazing taco shop, authentic tj tacos, I approve! Huge parking lot with lots of parking. Service is great and the tacos are better, I came back for more. Beans and rice were yummy too and it comes with chips.
This is a taqueria with a surprisingly spacious dining area. As I walked in I was overwhelmed with big menu boards and a bunch of signs with pictures. I appreciate it when they have pictures of the food- it's definitely helpful when I don't know the names of everything. I chose carne asada and pastor tacos. While waiting, I walked over to the panadería which is connected inside. This is lovely! I can get pan and tacos with one stop. Very convenient. I got some muffins from there (great selections there as well) and by the time I paid for them my tacos were ready. Service was not friendly. However, tacos were great. They had a lot of meat in each. Not mind blowing but I give them solid 4 stars.
I am gluten intolerant and made the mistake of not asking what kind of tortillas each taco was served on. I'm not 100% positive, but it seems like if you add cheese they will automatically give you a flour tortilla. I'm sure if you specified they could easily switch to a corn tortilla. I definitely know to do that the next time. Apart from the steak and cheese tacos (on the flour tortilla) I also ordered a campechano (steak and chorizo). It was tasty and both of the salsas had good flavor.
I am always in search of the best tacos and quesadillas in the city and I would say Tacos 46 was a win for the day! The space is clean and the service is fast! The quesadilla didn't blow me away with flavor, but it was filled with steak and cheese so no complaints there!
We were searching for awhile for a place to stop. We know authentic and so when we stopped in here we were VERY pleased. You order your food at the counter, grab a number and sit. They bring out the salsas etc first, rice and beans and we got a side of chiles y cebollas toreados. Then came our eight tacos de carne asada. All fantastic. Indy is lucky to have this place. The place itself is super cute and clean.
Taco de arrepara taco de carnitas! Excellent food and service! Fresh ingredients, the meat is moist and tender not over seasoned. Highly recommend Taco 46! They do authentic Mexican food right!
I've had this spot bookmarked for quite some time so it was a treat to finally mark it off the bucket list for a speedy carryout lunch recently. I was delightfully surprised to find that it is attached to a Mexican bakery (double the fun!). The bakery had a great array of savory and sweet treats. As for Tacos 46, it is bustling at lunch time! We ordered chicken tacos with rice and beans and all were quite delicious. Expect to spend around $10 pp for lunch. They have a vast lineup of aguas frescas as well as desserts like tres leches on display at the counter. Next time I will have to try their grilled onions - they seemed to be displayed everywhere. It looks like next time we'll have to try the al pastor tacos based on the review recommendations. Overall, a tasty visit and I look forward to more Tacos 46 in our future.

Really good tacos. We dinned in, they gave us sauces, radish, lemon and I think it was picked onions. One of the few places I've had good tacos de lengua. And tacos de asada / steak that wasn't dry. Place itself is clean. Plenty of tables. The have a connecting bakery. read more

First time visiting this location and was very impressed with the quantity and quality of options. The Horchata alone is worth going back for. I went with a pretty generic option with the quesadilla but it was very solid. They also have a bakery attached and while I was too full to order anything extra, everything in there looked amazing and I will be coming back soon. read more

To begin with customer service was great and also the place was clean and neat. There was a line, but it moved fast which is good and I also got my order fast in less than ten minutes. Moreover I got 4 tacos de asada which they were good but not great, but the red hot sauce was so good!! and super spicy too. The tacos were small and didn't get me full at all. In addition for the price I paid I expected them to be bigger. Furthermore I do recommend trying out this place out. There's more things to try out. read more
Taco 46 gets a STRONG 5 stars from me! Would recommend their authentic tacos any day of the week. Since it was my first visit I kept it basic and got steak and chicken. They came classic with the meat, cilantro and diced onions on lightly fried corn tortillas. Normally I will pick off raw onions but the balance of flavor on these was On Point! I ate ALL the onions!! The salsa verde was light and just right (will order extra next time.) The red sauce is HOT and does not play games. The other traditional extras were super fresh- sliced radish, lime plus they give you an amazing grilled onion - bulb, stalk and all (cebollitas). I ordered carry out and the service was as fantastic as the tacos. They have a good size bright and open dining room. Worth a trip to the west side!! read more
Great, authentic tacos! It's in a bit of an off-the-path location, and aesthetically not all that exciting. But the food is fantastic. I had chicken tacos and my friend had steak. Both were excellent. We also ordered sides of beans and rice, which came with chips. It was a ton of food! Everything tasted fresh and the meets were well spiced and cooked. The salsas provided were very flavorful with a nice heat to them. I don't know that it's the best in Indy as some of the reviews claim. But it's definitely worth a try if you like authentic tacos. Everything was well prepared and delicious! read more

signage posted that masks are required, employees were wearing masks: they have up the plastic guards to separate patrons from employees. i went in to get a few tacos and fundido (queso) they were out of queso though :/ i ordered one steak taco, one chicken and one steak and chicken taco all with cheese. it was $11. the associate was pleasant and clarified my order for accuracy. i asked how long and waited in my car. when i returned inside she remembered me and handed me my bagged food :) this is in a plaza in speedway with some other business and there's plenty of parking i haven't eaten here in awhile but the meat had ZERO flavor or seasoning. i ----- bland . like the pieces of meat that had fallen tasted like nothing, bites of the taco tasted like nothing, very saddened by this the portions were perfect. not the biggest fan of their salsa verde but i needed it to finish my food. read more

My GO-TO Place for Legit Tacos in Indy. Have yet to find a place that competes with Tacos 46. Inexpensive Simple and Straight Forward Flavors. Just real-deal authentic Mexican Street Tacos. Visited Tacos 46 4 different times before posting this review and each time they delivered incredible flavors in a super causal environment. This isn't a High-End, Mass Ave or Broad Ripple restaurant, Tacos 46 is for the locals and its Gloriously Delicious. Eaten nearly everything on the menu, and you really can't go wrong with any choice. Pro Tip! Order their refried beans and Orden del Cebollitas. Refried Beans?!? Yes, that is correct. You might think you don't really like refried beans. They're often flavorless, tasting more inline with brown paste than anything else at other Mexican restaurants or the infamous Taco Bell. BUT......You've never had Tacos 46 Homemade Refried Beans...Yes I said Homemade Refried Beans. Rich and super savory bean flavor, their refried beans are a must order. The Orden Del Cebollitas is a Steal! For just 2 dollars you can completely upgrade your taco experience. Like grilled onions? Like 3 different salsas? Like pickled-spiced onions? Like Lime wedges and fresh radishes? Then you need to order Orden Del Cebollitas to take your taco experience to new heights. Tacos 46 is without a doubt a 5 star establishment. I need an excuse to go back, Who wants to go?!? read more

Went for the first time on Cinco de Mayo when every Mexican restaurant was packed. Great decision. We were able to get right in & get a table. The best part was the food was wayyy better than any Americanized Tex-mex spot. Even the kids requested to come back. Tacos (corn tortillas) are available with several meat options. Our favorite was the steak. Now that we've been back to visit again, I know that one of those plus an asada con queso (flour tortilla) would be all I need. Quite a steal at around $5 for lunch or dinner. Watch out for that red sauce...it's 5 alarm hot. Both the green sauces provide good heat plus flavor. 4 of us ate dinner for around $40...and we all took home leftovers. We'll be regulars. This kind of place made the idea of Taco Tuesday a necessity! read more
