I am a frequent Tj Maxx shopper, I dont expect anyone to know that but I didnt expect to get hounded by employees like I was a thief. I was with a friend and the entire time the employees were staring us down, following us around the store, there was this one specific: short, bald, and miserable looking man who kept making faces at me, even up when I finished my transaction! Quite surprisingly, one of the smallest and most unorganized locations I've ever been in. Selection is rather unimpressive, but I if you are willing to really dig, you might find something good. Smaller then the typical TJ's but has a nice little section of deeply discounted designer goods. Purses, accessories, dresses, shoes, whatever you need from the runway. A whole rack of Gucci among other brands, so if your looking for this specifically I recommend this location, and as usually you will have to sift and sort through a lot of stuff to possibly find your size. However the store seems generally organized and clean. All the major departments are there but not a very big selection compared to the other shops. This TJ Maxx is just OK. I come here looking for skincare products. The skincare section is impeccably organized. Most TJ Maxx locations have a beauty section that is in complete disarray. The way this on is organized makes it easy to spot brands/ items that I am interested in without wasting too much time. The rest of the store is often messy and it is difficult to find things. I stopped looking through the clothing and shoe areas. I usually come around lunch time and the store is packed with tourists strolling in off Wall Street or other people who are on their lunch break. read more

I'm not sure what is going on with the brick and mortar side of TJ Maxx but all I can say is I find the shopping experience underwhelming. First, this location near Pine Street, is awkwardly located on a side street, the entrance is extremely strange, an up and down escalator. It seems this location took over a bank? Second, the layout and ambience doesn't mesh well with the downtown scene. Third, the day I visited with my friend, we shopped rather quickly due to the uncomfortable temperature in the store. Mind you, this was a crisp fall day. I'm not sure if the heat was on but boy was it hot. I wanted to explore the store but it was unbearable so I looked for what I came in for specifically: makeup removers. I found the make up section and ran to the check out line. Here are the positives: TJ Maxx offers some products that really are bargains: my four pack of makeup removers were @$5, a steal. The employee who waited on me at check out was extremely polite and professional. Sadly, I just don't see TJ Maxx as my go to for bargain destination store anymore. I've shopped four different locations this year: 57th Street, Bensonhurst, Flatiron and Wall Street and all were disappointing shopping experiences. I find the website offers more of a selection and less of a headache. I really miss the 86th Street location in Bay Ridge.. it was small and packed a punch. Never thought I'd shop here -- much less enough times to review it. But T.J. Maxx is great! They've got decent no-frills T-shirts, a good luggage selection, tabletop cleaners and other household supplies, soap and other toiletries, and a great tea, coffee and snacks section in the basement. They've even got dolmas, Polish cucumber salad, and other different-ish things down there. Prices are good too. In the suburbs I'd bet T.J. Maxx stores are big boxes. But it's a different ballgame in Manhattan, and I think this place has done a great job with the limited space (ignore other reviews complaining about the store's layout). I stopped by this Tj Maxx location during my lunch break today and was pleasantly surprised! It was very crowded which I expected. There was a large section of purses that were organized by color. Tons of Michael Kors bags, a lot that I've never seen before in the other locations I've visited. The makeup, body wash, and hair care section was also very large with a lot of upscale brands like Kylie Cosmetics, Bare Minerals, Buxom, and more. I was really impressed by these sections because they were SO organized! There were so many ladies in the skin care section that I couldn't even enter the aisle! The perfume area was also stocked up with Burberry, Juicy, and other upscale brands. There were also a few racks with high end brand clothes and some shoes like Givenchy slides for $500. The regular clothes were disorganized with many aisles that weren't inviting, meaning that I didn't feel like digging through the racks to look. The little that I did look didn't uncover any gems. Same with the shoe rack, there were many options but nothing spectacular. Overall, I definitely want to come back here when I have more time to really look around. read more

I LOVE TJ Maxx stores no matter where they are but this one really falls short in the inventory area. There is very little selection and limited quantity of everything. Maybe it's because of the location in FiDi - smaller than most shops. The workers are nice and the line is always moving. This should be an "express" TJ Maxx for quick shopping. Still could be a wider selection since there's 2 floor of merch. read more

I don't know, I just don't like the vibe of going down into a lower level like this. Doors were really hard to push open, and it just feels like you're going into the subway. In fact, there was some type of "police action" going on in here, while we were there. Sign of the times. The merchandise was actually pretty cool. Found some washcloths, and candles. They had a cool selection of games, and food items too. Pretty much typical stuff that are at most TJ Maxx stores. However, the register person, didn't acknowledge when we greeted her, but had no problem trying to pitch us their credit card, and seemed incredulous when we "didn't want to save 10%". Hello, I am extremely dissatisfied with my recent visit to TJ MAXX 14 Wall Street NY, NY 10005 on 05/02/2023. The cashier's rude and dismissive behavior was completely unacceptable, and it has left me feeling very unhappy with the customer service provided. Despite politely informing the lady that I will not be taking two t-shirts (fyi, when a customer inform you that they won't be taking something they expect from you to take what you will not be taking so your cart is empty or they expect you to instruct them where to pu them) the cashier responded with an unpleasant gesture and instructed me to place them on the counter, barely talking what she expect me to do is not clear but you can tell she is already mad a at me for no reason. I found her behavior rude and unprofessional, and I was forced to ask her to repeat herself as her instructions were not clear. Even after completing my payment, the cashier didn't bother to hand me the bag with my purchase, but instead placed the receipt inside and left me to collect it myself. She made no effort to thank me or even say goodbye. To make matters worse, upon returning to my hotel, I discovered that the clothes were crumpled up at the bottom of the bag, as if they had been carelessly thrown in. Yes. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect, neither of which was provided during my visit. It is unbelievable that this employee of TJ MAXX could not provide this basic level of service and respect. This experience has left me with a very negative impression. Never in my life I have been treated this way by a cashier. This is the smallest TJ Maxx I've ever been in, but it does have some good deals if you have time to hunt for them. The purse section disappoints me every time - it has very limited options. There are some great deals in the beauty section, especially on makeup. The clothing is hit or miss. They seem to have an abundance of options in smaller sizes, but larges sizes are scarce. The cashiers are efficient, but not friendly. Be prepared to walk down a broken escalator to get into the store and walk up another broken escalator to get back out. Not the best, not the worst. Lot Less on Fulton Street is a better option in my opinion (unless you're looking for specific designer items). read more

Terrible customer service. I had a few returns and went into the store closer to closing and was rudely treated and on top of that my return was rushed so much so that items were taken but not scanned and I lost almost $200 in returns. I went back the next day and mentioned the receipts didn't add up and not all returned items were credited back to me. I brought in my receipts and the items I actually kept to help them figure it out. I was treated very rudely again by the manger named Anthony who the night before told me his name was Sean. He told me I was wrong and offered no help. Eventually I was returned additional money however the items still don't add up. I definitely lost money in this transaction. I will never come back to this store and I recommend everyone watch their transactions as the managers here are not here for the customer. Lastly I was told the people working there have kids and family to go home to, as if the rest of us don't. I've never had such a terrible experience anywhere. read more

Big Fat 0. I was in need of two new pillows. I walked over to purchase two king size organic pillows and pillow cases. At first everything was okay. Got to the register to pay and I left my credit cards at home and they don't accept Apple Pay. That's okay, asked if they can be placed on hold and I would come back later before close to purchase. Who do you think you are- how dare you throw a receipt at me you lowlife of a cashier, and start yelling at me - have you lost your bloody mind??? First thing Monday I'm calling corporate - sending them the video and may you grow up and play your position - learn how to play customer service! Run the tape - find a purpose! Funny how none of the workers wear name tags, and refuse to give their names. All employees are required to wear name tags!!!!! No customer service skills - you're pretty much on your own in this basement. I will not shop here again. Just save yourself people and shop elsewhere. 3.5ish I tell ya, after reading all these {not-so-good} reviews of TJ Maxx I was pretty sure I wouldn't be shopping in this place... I mean, if its so bad - why bother, right? Well, I decided to take a chance today and walked over at lunch. You guys, it's not that bad! It's pretty nice actually (def. better than the one on Fulton St in BK they just opened. Bah!) For starters, the place was not that messy or disheveled... which surprised me. This one was well organized and well stocked. Specifically the home department, taking up about half of the lower level, it had a really nice selection of home goods - Ddshes, fluffy towels, picture frames, just to name a few. In addition to a decent home section the store is (currently) set up like this: Main level = womens clothing, shoes, bags, mens clothing, beauty products. Lower level = kids clothing, 'intimates' for the ladies, luggage and the aforementioned home goods. Back on the main level - I found there to be plenty of dressing rooms. Unfortunately, the top I tried on didn't fit so I couldn't tell you how the check-out process went. But this TJMaxx is about a 5 minute walk from my office - so I'm sure there will be plenty of lunchtime visits in the future. read more

This is a very addictive place, especially if you work or live nearby. Stay away with caution unless you are ready to shop til you drop. There are items here that are not on the website. I often go here for essential oils and kitchen items. The staff are good especially Edwin who goes out and above. Promote him to manager-he must be one of the hardest working folks there. One fat I left store minutes before closing and I came back next morning to get a last minute item before guest came and he was still there! The cashiers get an incentive for everyone who signs up for their card. So beware that it is a hard pull so points will be deducted from your credit card score. There were two hard pulls for this card so I saw score really go down. The clerks don't tell you that so if you had fat fingers and did an error on the screen you can't correct it and it caused two hard pulls. I didn't like that but otherwise I use this card for the points and it's actually you get like $10 out of every $200 spent so don't expect big discounts. read more

Some people have worked on wall street, some people have just shopped at a TJ maxx on wall street. I myself, fall into the the latter category. I spied this subterranean (it's kind of in a basement) TJ Maxx from the covered street that runs east-west on a recent trip. As on most trips, my wardrobe started seeming lacking, so I headed over here and found a bunch of stuff I loved for pretty cheap. 2 shirts, purse, capris, exercise tank top, soda for $80. There's a few clothing stores around the WTC area (theres a mammoth H&M and century 21) but I chose this store because it was the only one to open at 9 am on a weekend- nice when you want to get your shopping done early and can be ready to roll with the rest of your day. The store itself is pretty tight but not really messy. The checkout line had lots of drinks, food, lotions, etc available for impulse purchases. If I'm being honest I had trouble with figuring out which way the line went-a little confusing! I've got lots of compliments on my stuff from here, was only out $80, and I was able to get in and outta here in about 30 min. read more

I was on Wall Street and saw TJ Maxx and figured "why not?" I wandered around the 2 levels of this store and was reasonably satisfied with the selection. Trying on clothes wasn't appealing at the moment but I did partake in the beauty department. Holy Cow! They have a huge selection. Bliss products 50% off, Philosophy 10-15% off, Bed Head, BioSilk to name a few. The displays are sloppy and not organized so you need to pay close attention to what is on the shelves. You can easily pass a hidden gem. The staff is very friendly and helpful but the register line moves very slowly so don't come here if you are short on time. I live in the neighborhood, and even though there is a new Marshall's that opened up by Westfield Mall, this TJ Maxx has the better finds. This has been consistent over the past year or so. Marshall's is definitely more spacious, but everything I need I usually find at TJ Maxx. Everything I don't need, but still purchase anyways, can be found at Marshall's. A few months back, I bought this awesome cake stand for my Bridal Shower which was made of ceramic and perfection at TJ Maxx. The cashier wrapped it with a single sheet of gift wrap and bagged it. I remember telling myself, "Well sh*t, I've gotta be careful." Note: They single wrap the most delicate items. This is not their first offense, hence my 3.8 stars, rounded up to a 4. I really don't understand why this is a thing. Items should be wrapped to protect an item, especially with ceramic and glass. I feel like this should be common knowledge. Ten minutes later, I get to my apartment, and pull out a piece of my ceramic cake stand. It had broken into 6 pieces. :( I immediately went back to the store, returned it, and I was given a refund. I was so sure that they weren't going to, but I'm happy they did. They also didn't make a fuss, which was even better. I didn't find a replacement, but I was happy that they accepted my return. Conviently located in the Financial district the outlet of Tjmaxx is not huge but they do carry a little bit of everything. Offlate I have felt TJmaxx's quality of merchandise is coming down and prices are going up and this location also had the same problem. It is hard to find a floor represntative in case one needs helps with some size or design. One can diefinitely miss this location and head to much more better organised Century 21 couple of blocks away. read more

Featured in this behemoth of a building on wall street, the TJ Maxx is actually quite small! I want more discounts, more selection. Things are kinda all squished together. The only good part is there isn't a huge crowd, because downtown is dead after Happy Hour or during the hours when those wall streeters are busy making their millions. I do appreciate the fact that they have pretty organized stuff, usually when I walk into one of these stores, their clothing and items all over the place. Watch out for the sensors, I walked by the door with a purse that started going all alarm meltdown on me. I wasn't even that close to the door really. read more

I honestly love this TJ Maxx. It's 10x better than Century 21 down the block in all honesty. This TJ Maxx isn't crowded at all, of course depending on when you come. But Century 21 is crowded at all hours of the day with tourists. Of course this TJ Maxx isn't as large as Century but it is still two floors. They have a wide selection of different clothes and brands from little boutique brands to brands like Ellen Tracy and Tahari (which if you can find at TJ Maxx is certainly a steal). It really caters towards the Wall Street crowd in that many brand name clothes are here, as well as many business professional/casual attire. Plus- everything here is SUPER neat. As in, it's not messy and crazy looking like what you would expect at TJ Maxx. Even the shoes are wonderfully displayed. Another thing I absolutely LOVE about this TJ Maxx is that they have a Clearance section. As I am sure that most of these TJ Maxx's and Marshall's do, they have a huge clearance section- and not the crappy type, the type where I found a Juicy track hoodie for $30 (MSRP $100, that's 70% off!!). That makes me very happy and I will certainly be coming back. The cashiers here are also friendly, no attitude at all. Which is a bonus because usually when I come to these types of stores, I don't really expect top tier service as I come for discounted clothing, not to be greeted. Plus, the doorman is ultra friendly and opened the door- thus completing my love for this store. read more
