In the year 2026, why does Bloomingdale's exist? The question came to me today as I walked through an empty store with items in hand. When I finally found someone to ring me up--and decided not to take one of the items--the salesperson actually told me to put it back on the rack. Um, that's your job. It will not take the code because it is excluded from this offer. I spoke to three people at Bloomingdales. They told me they're not responsible for marketing. A little on the shady side. As a longtime Bloomingdale's member, I'm truly shocked by the level of service at this location. The store was nearly empty on a Friday night, yet finding help was like pulling teeth. I asked a simple question about a product to at least ten different employees and received a different--and incorrect--answer each time. When I approached a woman wearing a long silk dress and heavy makeup to ask if her register was open, she avoided eye contact, paused for several seconds, then finally told me her counter was closed. I couldn't help but feel dismissed and uncomfortable--especially as an Asian customer. What made the experience even more unsettling was seeing her helping another (white) customer at the same register just minutes later. Thankfully, another associate--also a Black woman with short hair--was kind and welcoming and ended up helping me. But overall, this visit left me feeling judged, disrespected, and unwelcome. Love Bloomingdales if they have items in clearance or just random unique gift items. I just happen to step into this one due to I needed to use the restroom. Restroom is NYC is hard to come by in those streets so be mindful LOL After the restroom since I was inside I might as well window shop - Breezed through the sales / clearance racks and walking around I stumbled a cute souvenir. A mini bloomie tote bag! It was cute but pricey - But Its a cute souvenir. I think they have a cafe that serves iced water cups if thirsty. Try to sign up for their rewards system if you can. Staff here are nice and helpful if you need assistance. Bloomies is known to be pricey and high end items sold through out but if you look through the mark down items you can get a good deal. read more

I love to shop. I love to shop high-end. My job and credit card statements can attest to that. What I don't love is poor, pretentious customer service. As someone who frequently shops Bloomingdales online store, I was shocked by the severely unfriendly, curt, and rude customer service during my last visit to the 59th street shop. Shop here for a Dilapidated Shopping Experience! The store was stocked, but aside from mainly tourists and college fashionistas buying coin purses and wallets not many people were actually purchasing anything. Sale associates were folding jeans over and over again. Cool. Over Confident, Depressed? Sales Associates Bloomingdales has an abundance of sales reps; however, it looked like they're employed to huddle together in the corners of their assigned sections and not help anyone! At Sandro I was ignored. At Veronica Beard, ignored. I can name a few other sections where I had the same experience. I shopped 3 floors and got one "hello" from the associate at Ted Baker! I had a return that I wanted to quickly get over with and I probably would have perused and maybe even bought something for more than the clearance price; however, after 3 additional sales reps telling me they can't process a return while they twiddled their thumbs, and having to trek to the far back corner of the 3rd floor, I was finally able to make my return. I ordered on line, package was never delivered or trackable in the UPS website. Bloomingdale decided do not refund the money. Called them 3 times when package didn't arrive, instead of doing a formal investigation they kept my money. They are THIEVES. I have returned in the past more expensive items directly in store. Bloomingdales 59th Street is my favorite location to shop. I got my first store credit card from Bloomingdales, and I have always shopped at the 59th street location or the Bergen County, NJ location. The NYC store is jaw dropping gorgeous! Not to mention the alluring scents. It smells like money as soon as you walk in the door.The smell is very rich, and elegant! All of the store staff are super friendly. I bought myself a gift online, had to go in store to pick up. Ended up buying gifts for friends as well. Even if you go to window shop, definitely stop by this location, you can thank me later. when the company knows the product is limited, they should never take a online order and days and days later you get a email that this product is not available when you're sending it as a gift. not the first time that Bloomingdale has ever done that it is so not right. I had a good experience shopping here- came to buy a trench coat during the loyalist event and got help finding the right size thanks to Dominic. He was very patient with me trying on some shirts and pants too until we were able to pick out some good outfits. Also got put onto some brands I wasn't familiar with like NN.07, Corridor, and Represent so that was cool. Horrible customer service. I purchased several thousand dollars in merchandise and had them ship to my home. It never arrived. They have no phone for customer number service. If you call their number it is for on line purchases only. If you call the store there is no option for customer service. You cannot speak to a human. I cannot wait to cancel the purchase or send back for a refund because this is the worst shopping experience imaginable. How sad that this once great department store has sunk so low. read more

What's not to love about Bloomingdale's? It's a 12 floor shopping mecca. From jewelry to accessories/clothing to home goods and furniture - it has it all. There's also a few places to get food and drinks, including Magnolia Bakery. During the Christmas season they have a winter wonderland upstairs and of course the renowned window decorations. They also have various events throughout the year. And don't forget the Big Brown Bag Sales. If visiting NYC, Bloomingdale's is a must see. read more

Ordered a faux fur coat for $99.00. It was a Christmas gift from my husband. We used his credit card. A Mastercard. I also have a Bloomingdale's credit card and I am a loyalist. Later that day I received an email saying it was cancelled and I can no longer purchase anything online from Bloomingdale's. No explanation just an abrupt conversation from their so called Supervisor. I am insulted and appalled. I was treated like a common criminal. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and no appreciation for good customers. I called to see what happened to the points for a purchase I made in December. Apparently points do not roll over to the next year so all those CHRISTMAS purchases don't provide points. I asked to get them back and was told I should have know as the policy is described in the contract I signed. As is anyone reads that fine print. SO for about $25 in reward points Bloomingdales loses me as a customer. ALSO I tried to cancel the order I place 30 minutes ago and was told it is too late. It has not even been billed. The staff here use predatory tactics to insult your appearance as you are walking by and then try to sell you cosmetics or skincare "to help." It's an outdated and extremely unpleasant practice and is why I go to Nordstrom or Sephora instead. read more

I've been a Bloomingdale's gal since I was a child. I grew up in New Jersey and I have many memories of shopping at the Bloomingdale's at the Short Hills Mall with my mom. Then has an adult, when I moved to New York the 59th St. in Lexington Avenue Bloomingdale's has been my favorite department store. Many frozen yogurts (the best frozen yogurt) at Forty Carrots. Many more memories shoppping with my mom. It is an icon of New York. One of my favorite places to shop. Yes some of the price points are expensive, but there are things in so many different price ranges. They're always on top of new styles and new design designers. Sometimes, there's not enough sales people which is my only negative criticism . Although, I've also worked with many kind sales associate who have helped me pick out outfits, and given me honest critiques on what works best for me. I'll always be a Bloomies gal! read more

Came here for Bloomingdale's annual SantaLand~Best holiday Ever event located on the 6th Floor. Walked past the spectacular winter holiday display and near the bedding/mattress section; you'll see Santa's elves directing the line to wait for the grand meet and greet with Santa. Bloomies is offering a complimentary photo opt with old Saint Nick and two free photos to take home. Kids also get a free goodie bag of candies as well. The wait in line wasn't too long and the staff were really friendly. When the moment arrives to meet Santa~ all the anticipation and joy were brought front and center. The manager and department staff were rude and dismissive when I tried to locate a gift because I was not given a tracking number and there was no record of the gift I purchased at Ralph Lauren. I just love coming here to go to the Carousel area -this time was Willy Wonka display and other New York items. I also love the Bond No 9 display. My favorite one is Tribeca from them but I couldn't find another one that I liked just as much! There is always so much to see you could spend several hours here! We didn't do that this time as I had these two areas that I wanted to see. There are always a lot of people here but we came in the morning and it wasn't too busy. I'm always so glad to see that Bloomie's is still thriving as so many other department stores have been struggling. Do not order for they deliver UPS with zero options. Moreover, they will tell you they'll ship it out on a certain day, but it'll go out a day late, and then arrive days after the originally told you the package would arrive. There's no expedited shipping to be offered. There's no second day air from these people. There's not even next day air, even if you really wanted something and had no problem paying shipping. They just won't do it. Pretty sad shipping policy if you ask me. I didn't think it was possible, but Amazon ships better than these people. In the meantime I've got a coat worth over a thousand bucks that is in ether because I have no idea where it's going to land. In NYC for a super quick visit, my husband and I spent some time shopping at this fabulous and super huge Bloomingdale's headquarters and flagship store... We split up to make the most of our time. He went down to the Men's department and I went up to explore cosmetics, undergarments, kids clothing and more... I could have spent all day in this store but ended up honing in on what I really needed since we didn't have that much time... Huge thanks to Ezra who helped me with Spanks and Irene who did some quick magic on my face at the Clinique counter! We all did not purchase anything from this establishment. Did not see many people with shopping bags. Place is not attractive nor appealing. Walked by the cosmetic area and see staff holding bottle of perfume, spritz on paper and smell it. No interaction with customers walking by. While other staff busy talking to one another. By the escalator, a staff dressed in suit walks up near a customer looking at directory and looks at them and then walks back. I am stunned. It is the day of my daughter's birthday and for various reasons I wanted to spoil her this year. I ordered a pair of $1,200 shoes which I cannot really afford but wanted to be a wow present. I just opened the box--it is not only not gift-wrapped, which I had paid for, but in a battered, re-taped, obviously returned box that I am ashamed to give her. Bloomingdales customer service was almost hilariously unhelpful--all they were authorized to do was refund the five bucks for the gift wrap. This store used to stand for luxury and service.
