This may become my go-to Marshall's when I'm in the city. The store was bigger than expected with wide aisles and merchandise neatly hung or shelved. UPDATE: Marshall's online customer service was incredibly kind and helpful, unlike the manager of this location. They sent me a gift card in the amount of the chair. Manager "Moe" is extremely incompetant, rude, and unprofessional. I purchased this Hello Kitty Impressions Chair for my 7 year old daughter. My daughter has since fallen out of this chair multiple times due to it being unbalanced and not made well. In one instance while trying to get up, it fell on top of her and she had a bruise on her leg. I first called the manufacturer over these safety issues who told me to reach out to the store directly. I called the store today and explained these issues and they told me to bring it in for store credit with my receipt and tag, as it was purchased 3 months ago. Upon bringing it into the store, the manager, Moe, who was extremely unpleasant and unprofessional , made rude remarks and claimed the chair was "nasty" refusing to take it back even after telling her it was a safety concern as my daughter had gotten hurt using it. The only thing nasty was this women's attitude. It's extremely upsetting that profits are essentially more important than a child's safety according to manager "Moe". I grew up in the neighborhood and have been going to this location since it first opened and have never been more disappointed. read more

A whole damn attitude. So I walked in through the first doors at 9:10am, not knowing that they weren't open yet. When the 2nd set of doors didn't open, I obviously realized they were closed so I turned around to leave. I went to the exit doors and they wouldn't open. No problem, i was walking back to the entry doors to see if they would open so I could leave when a staff member (woman) came to the door with keys in her hand and a whole attitude saying "why they coming in here we ain't open". I said no problem the door wouldn't open so I could leave and she pointed to the entry door, which has a big sign that says "not an exit", telling me "THAT WAY". Marshalls is kind of a "catch as catch can" type of retailer. You can find brand name clothes at highly discounted prices, along with housewares, bedding, kitchen articles, etc. Still, it's very hit or miss. You have to arrive here with some extra time to kill, be patient, as scour through each rack of clothes to try and find the one or two things worth buying. As this store carries manufacturer overstock many items are not what you would call their "A" articles, but at times I have found some really nice shirts and other things to wear. Hey, it's at a big discount from what many retailers charge so that is always a win in my book! The store itself is new, bright, and clean. Located in the Costco shopping center along with Target, Best Buy, Bob's Furntiture, and Old Navy. Can be busy but the times I was here it was not annoyingly crowded. Go in with the attitude of a big game hunter, stalk your prey, and come home with a few bargains if you are lucky. read more

Good Morning Mrs. Meyrowitz I'm writing this letter to inform you of my horrible experience in your store today at checkout. I asked Joselyn could I keep the hanger for the pants I purchased because I didn't want them folded since I had a 2 hour drive back home. She told in a very nasty tone that I couldn't have it and it was Marshall's policy. I expressed to Joselyn that in all of my years as a loyal customer of Marshall's I never heard that before and I decided not to purchase anything once she said that. I changed my mind and asked for the store manager and Joselyn sarcastically pointed to the next register and said she's right there. I asked your stores manager Edith if I could have the hanger rather then losing a sale and a loyal customer. Edith Gladys told Joselyn to give me the hanger. It was if the earth opened up under Joselyn because she gave me the worse facial expression, rolled her eyes and tossed the hanger at me. I laughed and told my husband that I couldn't believe how disrespectful Joselyn was. Joselyn loudly and rudely threw my items onto the counter and put her hands up in a gesture as to be washing her hands and said to me "Yo bro you can get someone else to ring you up"! I was absolutely flabbergasted and appalled by Joselyn behavior. Now you store manager Edith said and did nothing as Joselyn continued on with disrespectful comments. Instead the cashier at the next register pulled Joselyn and told her to stop it and walk away. Myself and my husband could still hear Joselyn making rude and vulgar comments. Your associate Joselyn mad me feel so devalued and disrespected. If you employee associates as such which treat customers so disrespectful then I would like for you to send me your corporate address so I can send the entire items I purchased back to you and be refunded because I choose not to contribute any of my hard earned monies to Joselyns wages. Joselyn needs to understand that its hard times that the entire world is going through with this pandemic. Customers are deciding to enter your establishment and spend money. Marshall's as a whole and this stores management should really teach their associates what customer service means. my advice to any one going to the marshalls in east harlem is simple ,dont expect much in clothing selections or well stocked non messy shelves or aisles but the homegoods and nik nak selections aint that bad . went on a friday early afternoon and crowd was lite so i was able to walk around freely and picked up a few items for the crib but the clothing and footware was limited so i skipped it. the workers seem they rather be elsewhere and the lady at cashier area couldnt care less. prefer my burbs marshall with its free parking and wider selection . read more

I really like this Marshalls. I usually find something here. They bring in new merchandise that is nice and I feel their selection is often better than other stores. I picked up over ten pieces of clothing for daily wear including sweaters and cardigans but like all marshalls you have to grab them before they disappear. read more

Sunday. Only 2 cashiers. When one customer complained, manager said "that's all we have for now". I understand they can be short staffed. However, why the manager didn't choose to help her cashiers? I use to love this marshalls because they are so nice and clean and organized. But for what I seen to today for the second time at this marshalls was crazy. It made me feel unsafe as I was walking to my car with my child a guy walked out with about 30 pairs of pants in a rush pulling the hangings off and throwing everywhere in parking lot.Then a few minutes later a Hispanic female and man walk out with a shopping cart of stuff while they walked to the parking lot the female start to unload whatever she had stuffed underneath her clothes. All while a fjc security car sat in the parking lot with someone inside while all this is going on.The first time there was a Hispanic man with a pull bag and he filled that pull bag up with a bunch of bags left it and another man pushed it and walked out the store. Mind you both times there was security at the door. I will not be going to this marshalls for a while due to not feeling safe. read more

Maybe because I come during off hours on the weekdays, but I've never experienced the messy, picked clean racks and shelves other Yelpers have. I like shopping here over the other Marshalls on 18th street and 6 Ave because this one is more spacious and a lot more quiet due to less foot traffic. I can take my time browsing and not get discount store headache from a visual mess. This store is great for the occasional shoe(I've gotten great deals on Keen's and Born's here) and I love, love, love to browse through the kitchenware and bakeware. Cuisinart, KitchenAid.. You can get quality cookware and accessories at half off or more. I have to restrain myself from getting kitchen gadgets I may use once when I come here. I mean, I almost bought a Whoopie Pie pan and I guarantee you I will make that at least once every five years. I mean, how many tea infusers do I need if I only use one cup at a time? Marshalls also has good athletic wear. Hey, I might not be the world's greatest biker but I sure can dress like a sleek warrior. Form fitting MPG jackets in cool colors like eggplant at bargain prices...wow. Who cares that they are last season's styles? Marshalls is a discounter, you know. Hey, one day I will be biking so fast you will only see a blip of color! I've never had a problem with cranky or slow staff. Everyone I've met has been friendly and sweet. But then again, I come here during weekdays, usually late afternoons, so maybe I've been lucky. I've never had a long line during the off hours. I also feel it's that happy, community vibe I get when I'm in East Harlem that makes shopping at this Marshalls more fun than at the other locales. read more

This store separates their kitchen appliances/accessories by color. As an orange fanatic, sometimes I just wander down the orange section to admire. Love the selection, but the amount of workers probably needs to increase. There is always a pretty long line to check out for some reason. read more

Came here on a recent Target run for the first time because I had a list of odds and ends things I needed. It's a really big location. The stuff was sort of messy on the Saturday I came here, but nothing was extremely out of place. Just some things were not put back properly on racks or shelves. I found a great set of shot glasses for $3.99, so that was a really big bonus. I also bought some random kitchenware that I needed. I perused the clothes/shoes and handbags, but nothing really struck me, so I stuck to my random household items. Overall, this was a very productive trip and I would definitely come back here again if the need came. The lines were sort of long, but it moved pretty quickly. read more

I wouldn't recommend this branch of Marshalls. When I went (last weekend) it was EXTREMELY picked over. There were barely enough things to fill the shelves properly. This store is not large, but well organized so it feels spacious.They have a great selection of cooking, baking and home essentials at good prices, as well as gifts, boots, sneakers, towels, etc. It is usually very clean and not too crowded (Sunday morning is a good time to shop there). I really enjoy shopping there and always find good deals-especially on designer cookware. The line can be long and a bit slow, but bearable, as you can browse all kinds of cute items along the way. There are plenty of shopping bags for sale if you don't want to carry the flimsy ones. Also-the fall fashions are really displayed nicely. read more

I go to Marshall's a lot more often than I buy things from here, but there's always a deal lurking. I've bought good shoes here, a coat or two, definitely some great shirts, and a number of home decor items like pillows, silverware and cup sets, candles, even a random food item here and there. My only complaint is that some days they're understaffed and have one or two cashiers serving a pretty long line and you have to wait 30+ minutes before you get to check out. I really like Marshall's on East 117th Street. They have the best selection of scented candles that I've found in NYC and are reasonably priced. It's on the fourth floor of the complex so it's quiet most of the time and restrooms are available. The check-out staff are very pleasant although sometimes there can be quite a line to pay, but I take that into account when I shop there. I always find something to buy!!! read more

Today, I was at your location at 517 East 117th Street, New York, BY 10035.  I picked up three pairs of ankle length Darn Tough Vermont socks two of which were on clearance marked $4.50 each.  The 3rd pair the clearance ticket was scratched off. I took all the socks to the register with the rest of my merchandise.  I asked the cashier, a nice young man, for a price check.  He too the pair of socks to his manager, Edith, for a price check. She called an associate and the associate bought long sock marked down to $10.00. In the meantime, the cashier rang up the other 2 pairs (with the price listed and it showed $4.50 in the register computer) and my other merchandise. She then tells him the price is wrong, has him void them off my transaction and proceeded to change the price to $10.00. I am sooo disappointed and felt so violated like a committed a crime just trying to buy socks.  I refused to buy the entire purchase. The price marked is the price should be paid by the consumer and I will make a report to the NY Dept of consumer affairs.  I went back to the rack where I initially pick the socks and found two more pairs of socks marked $4.50 (I took pictures and video of the prices and the socks). I am so disappointed right now I may never shop in Marshalls again. The experience was horrible and buyer beware of manager price changing scam!!! read more

However, the disarray of the store and the amount of time it takes to get through the check out line has made me decide that I probably won't ever come here again. It always takes 20+ minutes for me to actually pay for the items I can find throughout the mess in this store whether it's Tuesday morning or Saturday afternoon. If they can get the organization and checkout efficiency sorted out I might actually come back. read more

Not my fave Marshalls. There are always store associates looking bored in the main store area, and only one or two associates are manning the registers... while dozens of people wait in line. I was here twice last month and abandoned my purchase(s) both times because I didn't want to wait in line for 20 minutes. I love Marshalls and Tj Maxx, etc. I'm a cheapo and like to find good bargains, obviously. This Marshalls opened up a few blocks from me and I was so excited. Still am! I have found some really good deals here, mainly in bags, sweaters, pet stuff, and teas! I've gotten some expensive sunglasses for under 20 bucks, plenty of handbags (love their selection and prices.. except lately, since they've moved things around, the selection isn't as good) I'd recommend this location... it's clean, bright and the staff isn't miserable (aka nasty) yet. YET lol. Also, if you are in the mall here and have to pee - Marshalls and Target are both easily accessible bathrooms. WOOT! read more

Always in here. Can sometimes find great deals like a great Cole Haan bag or fabulous shoes. In general, the staff is attentive especially the dressing room. My only complaint is the checkout line. Always sooooooo slow. No matter how long the line, the manager looks the other way. The one on 18 and 6th is better in this regard. read more

Love marshalls... Only prob is they don't have much stock in XXL and bigger (size 18+ shirts). Still a great store with great prices.
