In a nutshell: Tending to my indecisiveness as a first-time consigner - YES Pleasant experience answering my questions - SURE Letting me pay to get my bag back for the price on our contract - NOPE Making up excuses to not let me have my bag and trying to charge me more - MY ULTIMATE PROBLEM WITH THIS STORE I came to the store as a first-time consigner. Curious about the process, I asked a million questions to make sure that I understood all the loopholes associated with consigning. Heather and Gideon were great and patient with answering my questions and successfully convinced me to commit to selling my bag. I was visibly anxious but decided to go for it, having been told that I am able to pay a pulling fee of 10% the asking price of my bag, if for some reason I decide I wanted to keep it. Immediately when I got home, I regretted my decision and reached out to Gideon about paying the fee to get my bag back. He called me and tried to convince me to let them sell it, and bantered about how he had already added it to a list to sell at an event over the weekend and that I would have to pay more to make up for the costs were incurred for the update to the list. I looked over my BS of a "contract" which stipulated that I would be responsible for 10% (as he had also verbally stated.) When I called him again, he told me I would have to pay 10% + 15% to make up for THEIR agreement that they made with the vendor 30 mins after I left (aka this agreement probably doesn't exist.) . While I had been timid this entire process (total of 3 hours), I stood my ground and demanded that we stick to the original contract. All in all, what started out as friendly, informative service turned into a sketchy/unprofessional/unethical business. I may at first had cold feet about parting with my bag, but as soon as I felt jipped by some scheme to make easy profit off my bag... Nah fammmm - I'm keeping my baby. But a contract is a contract, so I held up my end of the bargain. They gave me a 1 hour window to get my bag immediately, to honor the 10% that was on my original contract... Absolutely ridiculous experience. I suggest coming here if you are desperate to be cheated out of your money. *** Let me make it clear, I upheld their policy and hence paid them the $120 promised by the contract I signed. This review is simply a comment to the sketchiness of TSDC's business in trying to alter that contract last-minute to make more money off of me. It is not my responsibility if the business is "disappointed" in not being given the opportunity to sell MY bag. My problem is that TSDC made it very difficult for me to take my bag back by making up excuses as to why I can't take it back, and adding an extra charges. Please respect your OWN policy and contract by simply returning other people's items when they ask for it, for the cost that was initially agreed upon. *** read more

FINALLY SOMETHING WORTHWHILE IN HARLEM!!! In this booming up and coming area, TSDC stands out amongst the rest. This store has it all Rick Owens, Balenciaga, Chanel, even Tory Burch for those new moms in Harlem. I frequently consigned with other stores (i.e. INA) in the past and have been let down by product placement, overcrowding and pricing. But, TSDC takes the cake when it comes to selling my stuff. So far, I have sold sneakers, tees, and jeans! I'm already searching through my closet to see what other designer duds I can part with. Unlike most consignment shops, the buying team is pretty selective so you know your not walking into a shop with dingy Pierre Cardin shirts for $100! Basically, this place is heaven. Racks full of couture finds and daring designer pieces, curated by the wonderful Heather and Lenore, cover their walls. Shelves stocked with both classic and current accessories will keep you coming back for more. These aren't worn cast-offs or outdated clothing. Really lovely consignment store in a great Harlem neighborhood with only high-end designer brands. I tried to consign a pair of strappy Manolo Blahniks and a white summer dress and unfortunately, they didn't sell before the end of the season, but the owner, Heather was kind enough to return them to me. The selection is small but artfully selected and they have a wide variety of sizes. The prices are a little high compared to some similar stores, but there are some good finds if you keep looking. I've been following TSDC on IG for a couple of years now. The merchandise always appears to be in mint condition. I finally saw the perfect pair of Tom Ford shades & I had to have them. I direct messaged & got a quick response, I sent my email & was invoiced. A few days later I was provided with my tracking # & my shades were here a short while after. The sunglasses are in pristine condition & I'm totally obsessed with them. I would definitely recommend TSDC to friends & will stop by the actual store soon. read more

Trunk Show Designer Consignment really takes the hard work and intimidation out of selling your goods. Heather, the store owner and direct point of contact, is very flexible with pricing and very transparent about what a seller can do to ensure their item sells in decent time. She is approachable, always quick to reply to e-mails, and eager to meet when her clients need to or would like to. The store itself is very cute and cozy, with a cool urban edge so fitted for the neighborhood and for NYC. I have not yet bought an item from TSDC, but prices for buying such luxury items seem very fair. There is also a lot of variety (merchandise for both men and women), so it's a great place to buy or sell your items. Definitely check this place out for great deals if you're looking to buy, or if you're new to consigning/selling like I was. The owner, Heather Jones is extremely sweet and very enthusiastic about helping you either sell or purchase your designer items. I was looking for a very specific jacket online and found it at Trunk Show Consignment. I got in touch with Heather, the owner, about it and she couldn't have been more pleasant and wonderful. She was so patient with me and my requests over the phone and email. She was prompt with all her answers and sent me all the necessary pictures of the jacket I wanted. I have to emphasize here how indecisive I was about purchasing it (I've never purchased such a pricy preowned item online before therefore, was pretty hesitant) and how completely patient Heather was with me throughout the entire process. I was hot and cold about it for a few weeks. Heather was a complete star with me. She even let me know that another customer was coming in to see and possibly buy it. And when I saw it on a model and knew I had to have it 100%, she made sure that I was able to get first option on it despite hemming and hawing about it for so long. Another thing I'd like to mention is how whenever I talked with her over the phone, I never felt pressured to buy it and felt like I was talking with a very close friend who knew that it would be a great buy. Which is was. When I received my jacket by mail, it was everything she said that it would be. It was in great condition like she said (didn't even look like it was worn once) and looked better than the pictures she sent. I don't regret buying it and I don't mind the cold in NYC now so i can wear it out. I hope to stop by her store someday and check out her entire collection. Do NOT consign with TSDC! Please trust me and go elsewhere. I brought in a few expensive items for consignment, big mistake! I did not receive a check or a notice to pick up any unsold items so decided to give them a call to follow-up. I called and called and called the store and left voice messages and sent a couple of emails. Finally, I was told by Gideon Dunns "client liaison" my items have become the property of TSDC! My contract was expired and they either sold my items at a discount or donated them to charity. I never received a dime and my items are gone. This place does business like a criminal. read more

The Trunk Show Designer Consignment is by far the best. Heather (the owner) is very professional, as well as friendly. She had me up to date every minute of my transaction. I was well aware of all the steps that were taking place wile my bag was awaiting to be sold. I consigned with them on Friday, and within 48hrs. my bag sold. This is a really GREAT find! They have a very well edited assortment of designer clothes, shoes, bags and accessories. Heather has wonderful taste and is quite knowledgeable on how to price all the items she takes on in consignment. She sold a Chanel bag for me in 2 weeks (quite fast) and was quite earnest in discussing the consignment agreement so I understood all the terms. This review is about their website, not their bricks-and-mortar location. Do NOT use their website. All of the items are old and not actually in stock. I tried to purchase a bag, and received a particularly nasty email from one of their staff asking why I would send them money when they hadn't asked me to, and telling me that I would have to eat the Paypal fee on the transaction. Dude, you have a giant button that says "I'll Take It" and a checkout mechanism on your website - if that's not an invitation to "send money," I don't know what is. They did refund the payment (less the PayPal fees), but were so horrible and non-apologetic about the whole thing that I can't imagine recommending them - or their site - to ANYONE.
