I love going in with my Uniqlo pants and All-birds, wondering if they are going to "Pretty Woman" me, but they don't. Maybe they think I am rich I am so dressed down. The store is a little too ultra-high-end luxury for me, but it is a legendary New York institution and a unique pinnacle of high-end shopping, so I don't mind following my happy wife around. This review is mainly, though, for the fragrances. There was a fragrance specialist named El-Aton Georges, who was eager to use his knowledge to help us, since I am so picky. He made it fun. A $600 promotional reward and more than an hour wasted trying to get help. This is what passes for customer service at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. I downloaded my electronic reward card to use later. There was no expiration date visible on the saved card. When I tried to use it, I was told it had expired. Customer service said the deadline was in the original email. Once I had downloaded the card, I had no reason to think I needed to revisit that email to check for a deadline missing from the card itself. I spent 45 minutes with customer service at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan, then another 20 minutes on the phone with customer service at headquarters in Dallas. Still no help. If a $600 reward has a deadline, put it clearly on the card the customer will actually use. For stores that present themselves as luxury retailers, this level of customer service is unacceptable. I haven't written a review on an experience within a department store, but the exceptional customer service by Elvis and level of authenticity in brand knowledge and personability merits this review. Loewe doesn't have too many stores where their scents are easily accessible so I was determined to visit while in the city. They have an extensive selection here it is so fun to see and try the scents. Elvis helped me with picking out the most perfect scent for my best friends. I even left with my signature scent, and I had the most joyous experience doing so. However, the most lasting memory I will have is the curated experience Elvis gave me. Going through the stand out scents elicited memories and emotions that made me so happy. What a rare treat to have someone committed to the brand and incredibly authentic. I look forward to working with Elvis come the holidays and I think Loewe is extremely lucky to have someone like him in their corner. read more

I dislike the massive stands of counterfeit shirts in front of the main entrance on Sunday and on the West 58 side Monday to Saturday. The $20 ice cream cones from the trucks that are melted and the counterfeit handbags on the ground in front of the windows. You have to step over this illegal goods to look at the windows. I am extremely disappointed with my experience ordering from Bergdorf Goodman. I placed an order for a bottle of cologne the week before June 29, expecting the level of service and professionalism that a luxury retailer should provide. Instead, weeks went by without my order ever shipping. There was little to no communication regarding the delay, and I was left wondering if my order had simply been forgotten. After waiting far longer than any reasonable customer should have to, I finally had no choice but to cancel the order. When customers choose to shop with a high-end retailer like Bergdorf Goodman, they expect exceptional customer service, timely shipping, and proactive communication. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite. If an item is backordered or unavailable, customers should be informed immediately--not left waiting for weeks with no meaningful updates. This experience has completely changed my perception of Bergdorf Goodman. There are plenty of other retailers that offer the same products with far better customer service and much faster shipping. Speaking of staff, I was assigned my very own Bergdorfian who lasered in on me like a cheetah to a gazelle, disarmed me with charming conversation, and brought over endless cashmere sweaters for me to test drive. My God, I thought, he's not a staff member. He's a walking, talking markup. And did I mention that there sits a swanky bar located on the second floor of the men's section? Genius. All women's retail establishments take note! There should be a pub in every store so that men can wait in drunken dignity while their wives shop with abandon. Besides, after a healthy amount of libations, even the Bergdorf Goodman price tags start to look blurry. There were stains on the glass, I asked for a new glass the waitress didn't say anything, just took it and kept walking didn't acknowledge it at all. She then proceeded to not say a word to either myself or my companion until we asked for the check. It also took forever for my dessert to come out when I had got the pre fixe which is supposed to be an hour experience, it was not. The servers and host are always so kind and manage to get a table for walk-ins or only wait a few minutes before getting seated. For special occasions, I highly recommend booking a reservation and call in advance to plan accordingly if it's a surprise or get together with a close circle of friends. High end department store, actually it's way less pretentious than Saks Fifth. While the staff is much more pleasant here-- they have most of the same brands and/or items. I would say you probably experience less traffic and fellow shoppers who are more courteous and pleasant. Bergdorf Goodman (Customer for Over 35 Years) After decades as a loyal Bergdorf Goodman customer that has spent more dollars than I care to admit I'm stunned by how unethical their online operations have become. In May of 2025 I spent over $1,000 on a pair of designer boots that arrived with visible scuff marks, clearly not in new condition. I called customer service immediately to report it and request a return label. The representative acknowledged the issue, waived the return shipping fee, and immediately sent me a prepaid label. I returned the boots the following morning. Weeks went by with no refund. After several calls over the course of several weeks, I was told 2X the credit would be issued soon. Then, nearly three months after Bergdorf had received my return, I was suddenly told the boots were being refused as "worn." The same scuffs I reported on day one were used as the reason to deny my refund!!!! By early September, almost four months after the return, the same pair of boots showed up back on my doorstep, no credit issued. This experience is deceptive, exhausting, and beneath a retailer that claims to represent luxury and integrity.
