One thing to know is there are no appointments here. It's first come first serve, so on weekends and busy days prepare to wait a while. Personally I think the wait is worth it. Olivia and Lidia are wonderful! However I would avoid Phil and Linda. They seem to race through and Phil has cut me every single time I've gone to him. I usually go to Olivia but she had quite the line the other day so I went to Phil looking to get a design and he said no. While I found one nail tech in this place to do my nails right (and I tip her to keep her doing good), the service and atmosphere in this place is piss POOR! The owner LINDA is terrible. She argues with her customers, chooses her favorites to cut people who have been waiting to get services for hours, speaks about customers to other customers while they are there, tells people she doesn't want to service them and the list goes on for this mad woman. You might get cursed out from Linda, turned away from Linda if the wait is too long, if you arrive 1 hour before close Linda will complain that you came too late even though there's a full 60 minutes to do what you need done, Linda will rush through your nails and when you tell her about it she will catch a tantrum, and Linda will also ask her black customers to pay first for their service before the nails dry while she doesn't do that for other customers. While this may be a long review, anyone who has given this place a low rating or even high can be real with themselves that they have seen the owner LINDA do such things, maybe not to them but to someone else. I'm a horrific nail bitter and wasn't sure they'd be able to make anything stick to my stubs. They do both acrylic ($35) and gel ($55) which included a gel polish as well. Due to my other nail technician at another location leaving for out of state, I thought I would give tips for nails another try. Unfortunately, my experience was terrible as I had to pull back my hand few times due to pain from the nail technician being way too rough and rushing through the buffing process. (There was no other customers when I went). It literally felt like my nail bed was burning. This place is amazing. I'm mad I'm just finding it. Kelly was wonderful. She took her time it was very meticulous about each and every mail. She made sure to ask me if I liked it throughout the manager and she was perfect I wouldn't change anything about my experience. If I can give this place 0 stars I would. I got gel tips here several times. Whenever Phil does my nail, I'm bound to lose 1 or 2 within a week! They charged me $50 for first fill and $30 for filling in. But when I come back barely a week later they insist on charging me to fix it when clearly it's his poor quality, rushed work because it just peeled off, not like I was doing something rough and it broke. This is the 3rd time This happens when he does my nails. When I talked to the lady in charge her response was "if you not happy, I don't know what to do for you." This salon was recommended to me by a friend. I went in for a pedicure with Olivia (pedi w/ acrylic on my big toes). This salon doesn't book appointments in advance so you can walk in BUT be prepared for a wait time of 20-40 mins depending on what the person is doing prior to you entering the salon. Olivia was very nice and took her time as she did my pedicure. As for right now it's a 5-Star experience minus the wait time but you have to be patient and understanding . I went in to get some gels taken off and get a basic mani. I had Kelly and she really took her time on my nails. My cuticles are always in bad shape and no one has ever taken that much time to clean them up so well...also she never hurt me in the process at all which was impressive. She took time to trim the sides of my nails which no one has ever done and I always wanted. The process took a while but so worth it. The painting itself didnt take long at all though and was perfectly done. It looks like I have gels. I also like that its walk in as I hate rearranging my day around nail appointments. Yesterday was my first experience at this nail salon. I hate waiting so i called ahead and they said it was not busy at all..i went on a thursday around 2pm. i literally go here because its close to rutgers and its super cheap but im starting to realize that you pay for what you get. the nail polish is HORRIBLE quality. even gel starts chipping within ONE day and especially the thumbs ALWAYS chip. The color choices were horrible. the staff is RUDE always talks about you in Chinese and they refuse to do anything you ask for. They were removing my gel nail polish on my hands and started on my feet and left the foils on. because they left the foils on so long my nails are extremely brittle from the acetone and are breaking. also, they always try to paint one finger at a time and make you put your hand under the UV light for EACH finger. Let me first start by saying that I don't normally write reviews but I am someone who reads them. In order to help others and "pay it forward" I felt is only right to write this one. Initially I went to this salon with hopes of experiencing the new "nexgen nails." I called prior to my arrival to confirm if the salon did offer that service and the price. I was told one price over the phone, and that in fact the "nexgen" powder would not be used but something similar. Due to the price I was given over the phone I didn't mind but I guess the jokes on me because you get what you pay for. I made sure I researched which nail tech to go to as well, to ensure I had the best tech for the job. According to Yelp reviewers, Ashley was the best, "literally" at the salon. When I got to the salon, I asked for Ashley and she proceeded to ask me what color I wanted and discuss price. I was told a totally different price over the phone than what Ashley told me but no biggie. The problems started when Ashley was putting on my tips and I asked for them to be cut shorter. After the application of the powder which was done very poorly I asked Ashley to shorten my nails. She must not have liked my request because she began to handle and file my nails very aggressively as if she was upset that I wanted my nails shorter. After she was all done and had to fix the bumps in my nails and the horrible filing job she put some speed dry polish on my nails and rushed me out. I say all this to say that know what you're paying for. No one is perfect and every salon has their own standards but in trying to save a few dollars I gave up quality and service which in the end was a waste of my time and money so please don't waste your time and money here. The wait was crazy, I waited over an hour to finally get a manicurist to start my acrylic fill process ($15) and nail repair ($3 per nail, did not charge extra for shaping). I was informed by another customer who comes frequently there are usually more than 4 people doing nails, at least 6. Eventually as time went on, only 2 was doing acrylics, the others were doing mani or pedi. In general I'm happy with my nail. My girl did things I would've asked her to do if she didn't do it, she also applied too coact for my regular nail polish which no other place has done for me. But I think I have an issue with picking the right nail polish color because I wanted a really dark forrest green which it was in the bottle but, it looks gray on my nails. I already got my toes done last week, so I was just in need of a gel manicure & had a simple design from Pinterest in mind. Ashley did my manicure and she did a great job! She really took her time filing my nails & cleaning up my cuticles. That is one the most important parts in my opinion & my cuticles were a wreck before coming in. I showed her the design I wanted (half moon) and she said she hasn't done it before but she would try. The first thing she tried didn't work out (using stickers to hold the place of the open half moon) but she quickly fixed it and made my nails look gorgeous. I have honestly never been happier with a manicure in my life. There's usually one thing I can nitpick about. Nope, today Ashley did the perfect manicure. I'm attaching several photos of her work. She finished the job with a quick hand massage with lotion. Just FYI: Tip For Nails does not take appointments, and is therefore "first come, first served." My wait time was 45 mins for a gel manicure, and the manicure itself took about 45 mins to complete. So total I was there for 1.5 hours. I would suggest not to come if you're in a rush, like on lunch break or before another appointment. You get $1.00 off if you pay with cash. I paid $24 for my gel mani with design, and gave Ashley a $5 tip. The owner is EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional along with her staff. They do not stand by their work and are unhygienic using the same pumice stone for different clients & do not use bleach between clients, nor do they use a liner. I know there is a lot of "you get what you pay for" but I was expecting a better job than the one I got. I decided to get chrome nails for the first time (also my first time at tips) and I will say I was surprised by the selection of chrome colors (there were 9). I went with the basic silver chrome color, and i was informed that to make the color really pop, there is a black base underneath. In addition, it would have to be gel to keep the color lasting longer, which is what i would've gotten regardless. It has now been about 5 hours since I've gotten my nails done and I'm not sure if it wasn't sealed properly or anything but the black is showing at the tips of the nails as if they were scratched. While i was at the salon i already pointed out that the black was showing at the edges and the lady said it was because my nails are "too small" but I've had friends who had less space and everything was evenly coated. They made me sit and filled up the tub with water and I sat with my feet in the water for almost 20 minutes before someone came and started the pedicure. Even though you pay double the price compared to a regular pedicure, all the lady did was scrub, apply some cream and do up the nails. It was least bit relaxing.
