I have had such great experiences at this salon. I made my appointment this time with Kim because my mom loves how she does her nails. Kim was so nice and she had so many ideas for cute designs that turned out amazing. I took this photo 6 days after I got the gel manicure done and they still look great. They are also taking a lot of precautions for COVID; temperature checks at the door and everyone is required to wash their hands as soon as they come in. It never feels packed or unsafe inside because there's a great distance between clients and they also have a plexiglass divider between you and the nail technician. I was a customer at Nails by US in Metuchen for many years, at least six years, maybe longer. This review reflects that as far as the owners go, there is no customer service and the customer has no rights at Nails By US. They really don't care about their customers, or even what is right or wrong morally. Generally, I was happy with the service, which was good enough, not fantastic. But, in November 2021 I was in for a mani-pedi and someone new who I had not seen before did my mani-pedi. I had brought my own nail polish in a plastic tote, and without asking me, when I got up to pay, she opened my pocketbook and put my nail polish in it without asking me, instead of in the plastic tote I brought with me. When I arrived home, I opened my bag and saw that $40 (two twenty dollar bills) were missing from where they had been near the top of my pocketbook. It would have been very easy for the new manicurist to take the money when she opened my pocketbook to put my polish in, and she should not have opened my pocketbook for any reason. This is a violation of a customer's privacy. No manicurist should ever go into a customer's pocketbook without asking. I immediately called and spoke to the female owner. She seemed unconcermed and didn't seem to care that my money had been stolen. A few weeks later I needed a quick pedicure and, I know it sounds crazy, but the only opening I could find on short notice was at Nails By US, when I called they had a spot for me. This time, I intended not to leave my pocketbook on the table while paying with my back turned. When I arrived, the female owner was there. She told me since I had complained a few weeks prior about my cash being stolen that I was no longer welcome there and asked me to leave and not come back. Unbelievable, right? A customer gets $40 lifted out of her pocketbook and the customer is the problem? What world are they living in? Dishonesty at its worst. read more

This nail salon is on the cheaper end, so I guess you get what you pay for. I've been here a few times and, each time, you have to wait 15-30 minutes to even get your appointment started. Yes- APPOINTMENT! I asked for an appointment tomorrow, was told today was better, and now I'm here and there's no one available to help. They don't have many elaborate care options, but fine for a base. Their polish does stay well though. Just plan to double your time here because you'll have to wait. read more

I have been going here every two weeks for a gel manicure and pedicure since I moved to Metuchen in May of 2019. I love this place! They greet me by name and I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes. Delmy gives the BEST pedicures and is so sweet. Kim does my gel manicure and my nails always look AMAZING and can last more than 2 weeks ( sometimes I push to 3 weeks). My mom also goes here and loves it! I'm actually quite disturbed by some of the bad reviews. As someone who is in here regularly, I have seen a lot. I have seen rude people come in expecting service ASAP for events they have in a few hours and then act up when they get told no. It's called make an appointment and don't wait until the last minute. If someone isn't happy or comes back a few days later( which is rare) they are always willing to fix whatever is needed. I did acrylic fill in with a simple polish and it was $30. She was going to charge me $5 extra for a design on ONE nail. I didn't like the quality of work and she didn't even remove my old polish fully before starting on my nails. My wife has been going to this Nail salon since 12/23/2012. If you go on a Sunday morning OR Sunday afternoon, do NOT make any plans for that day. Those are your plans. She would just go there for a standard Manicure & Pedicure, no wraps. If I didn't have to give this nail salon a Star at all, they wouldn't even get one star. My wife has been going to nail salons since she was in her late 20's. So for almost 30 years for horrible service that you pay for at this Nail Salon is unacceptable. Mind you, either two or three people attended to your needs. Never one person. They aren't foolish, so for the most part, how many people do you have to tip? I am glad the last time she was there, she wised up and ONLY tipped for the Pedicure. She called in for all her appointments & always tipped $10 -$11 total for the girls. Plus for no fee at all, you are entertained by a local woman and her spoiled daughter. The daughter runs from the back wall to the front door, back and forth consistently. Bounces on the floor and is not well behaved. Her daughter is only 6 years old. I have never been to any nail salon that is also a playground and no one tells this child to stop, for insurance purposes. Her mother does once in a blue moon, but is not firm, she goes back to talk with her friends or reading a magazine. The workers complain about the child but do nothing about it. Sophia is the only child that runs around like this !! This place is a circus. The previous time my wife was there, before her very last appt, my wife was stuck there for 3 Hours, that's right, no typo here, Three (3) hours. I was miffed. And she ALWAYS calls in for her appts, except for her very first time, my wife was a Walk In. She was there for only 90 Minutes! Ridiculous. This Salon apparently does NOT have enough girls working there. Two girls used to work there in addition, apparently haven't lasted or quit on their own, who knows? Jo did her nails all the time and a nice Mexican woman for her toes. One time the Mexican woman massaged her legs too hard and she told her. Other than that, any woman that did the pedicure did well. Twice she didn't get a massage, when she needed it most, yet other ladies who only tipped about $2 got their back massaged. LOL One time Jo yelled at her, the Saturday of Easter Sunday .... and rushed her out without having her nails completely dry. The spray can was empty so it wasn't like she could have sprayed her nails. Then after Easter, my wife started to get Gel Wraps, changed over after 2 times over to Glass Wraps. The wraps was the downfall of damaged, horrible, painful Nails. When she got Gel Wraps, the one finger nail chipped by Tuesday. Two days later, on a Gel manicure?? She wasn't the only customer this has happened to either. This nail salon that is NEXT to 2 Chicks w/Chocolate. The reason why I am leaving this review is because my wife sprained her hand and cannot type what she is telling me. This review is way over due. This salon is open 7 days a week, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Easter Sunday !! And yes, I have to agree with another reviewer, they do paint your nails streaky and sloppy with either not enough polish on the brush OR too much. Plus they do NOT always paint the whole nail to your cuticle and they also do not paint the inside tips of your nails to prevent chipping with OR without Tips, other than the Gels. The first time she had her Gel nails done, were very nice, The second time the Gels didn't look that nice. That's when she switched over to Glass Wraps-which was a BIG mistake. God forbid if you ask to have some Glitter painted on your nails, depending what mood Jo is in, she will do it without attitude. The first time she did the glitter was only on a few fingers, neat job, pretty. The 2nd time my wife asked for Jo to put the glitter her toes, in addition, it was like asking this woman for her newborn child !! Jo did a sloppy job & with very little glitter pieces. This was the LAST time my wife went back, Finally. No matter what time my wife called in the morning for an appointment, days prior, she could never get a morning appt. Jo wouldn't trim down my wife's nails, too long, she said she can't. !!?? If you want to pay $ for Poor Service and to spend your afternoon there and not get what you paid for, then by all means, go to Nails by US across from the Metuchen Train Station, be my guest. I am glad she goes to Rainbow Nails in Rahway, the salon is updated, great reviews & the ladies there are exceptionally outstanding. My wife went there to get her wraps removed. Now, she is a new customer. My wife works hard for her money and so do I, not to PAY for a SERVICE to DAMAGE your Fingernails. Pay for DAMAGE & TIP Well. That salon needs a lesson in Customer Service and Jo and some of the other Asian Ladies need to have their licenses Revoked & Return to beauty school to learn how to do manicures and pedicures correctly & safely. It's been since before COVID that I've had a pedicure and I felt it's been long deserved. I was a walk in and they seated me right down. I sprang for the luxury pedicure, actually, this wasn't the first place that I went to. I have originally went to another nail place down the street but the woman said that they were booked today. The staff was nice but tended to talk amongst themselves which is ok because I like my quiet and don't care much for idle chit chat. The massage was great for my tired nurse feet and they had plenty of selection for nail polish colors. Not too bad all around. Worst nail salon I've been to. My friend and I were a walk-in and wanted to get a mani/pedi (me) and pedi (her). First minor complaint -- not a huge selection of polishes. Major complaint -- rushing and poor results! My tech (who also seemed to be the manager or owner) started off on me while my friend sat in the pedi chair waiting. She filed my nails crooked. Then she sent me off to the pedi chair so she could begin on a woman who had an appointment (which is fine, I was a walk-in). The lady who worked on my toes was very nice, but she rushed like crazy! Plus she scrubbed the crap out of my legs which hurt and sucked and made a cut I had on my shin bigger. But, I digress. My point about rushing is that even though my friend had started her pedi way before I even sat down, mine was finished first!! What in the? I didn't even soak my feet at all. So after I was done with the pedi, the manager lady was ready for me. I sat down and asked whether to pay now before she started. I could barely understand her, by the way -- thickest accent ever. She asked me if I wanted to pay together, but I had no idea what she was talking about because I couldn't understand her, so I said yes. I didn't realize she meant pay for both my friend and me. Then because the price was so high (for us both), I kept thinking I was overpaying, blah blah blah annoying. After that was cleared up, she began painting my nails and did an AWFUL JOB. She did two gloppy and streaky coats before reaching for the top coat, and I had to say "Um, can you do another coat? You can see all the streaks". She kind of huffed and began the third coat. I wanted to be like "Lady, I'm not blind. I can tell when something looks like sh*t". Plus she didn't paint down to my cuticles all the way. When she was finished she just walked away. She didn't grab my bag and bring it to the drying station. She didn't do that silly little 2-second massage some places do (my friend got one). She just bounced and started cleaning up around the store (they were closing). Note to self (and all of you): if you go cheap you'll get cheap. Today was my second visit to this nail salon. My first pedicure was very good, but today's services were not. It took over 2.5 hours for a pedicure and gel manicure which made me late for another appointment. I rushed out and had to return for the nail art and when I came back the nail art was terrible and I wasted another 30 minutes having those nails redone. The two ladies that do the pedicures normally are wonderful but the older lady who seems to be running the place is very rude. Did not apologize or say reply when I said thank you and have a good day. So I'm currenty drying my toes as I type and I'm bumping mt review up a star. The ladies here are super nice and very organized when dealing with a ton of walk ins. No one was left waiting for too long. My pedicure was great as usual. This is mt third time getting one here and I enjoyed it more than the last. The hot stone massage was bomb.
