Metuchen Nail Spa is an outstanding nail salon. I visited for the first time after being…read moredisappointed by two other salons in the area. Hank was incredibly accommodating and made time for me before a beach trip, which I really appreciated. I requested a nail design that resembled melting ice cream, and Hank was meticulous in getting every detail just right. He checked in with me throughout the process to make sure I was happy before curing each nail. The final result was so creative and perfect for summer. What I didn't expect was that the manicure would end up in a very special photo; my partner proposed that weekend, and the nails ended up being part of a moment I'll never forget. I'm genuinely grateful for the care and attention Hank put into his work. Had I gone to one of the other salons, I know I would've been disappointed. I don't think I would have been as excited to share photos from that day. (It sounds ridiculous, but I'm sure many women can relate.) I highly recommend Metuchen Nail Spa if you're looking for attention to detail and excellent customer service.

I have enjoyed coming here, it was overpriced at $30 a haircut (never blow dry) but I paid that to stay with Donna. I understand the pandemic but the principle is that they didn't tell me or any other customer that they were no longer offering the $30 haircut, you must get your hair blow dried or they will still charge you the $50 for it. To make matters worst, they aren't even allowed to blow dry at the moment and they are still charging people that. I understand businesses are hurting but a $50 haircut that consisted of a few inches off seems gouging Update: since reading the owners response to my honest review I have decided to lower my star rating. Very unprofessional, name calls and accused me of stealing when her employee was the one who was charging me the $30 price for 6 years and I had no idea this wasn't even the price. But yes a price increase from 30 to 55 is gouging, almost a 100 percent increase. My mother had an appointment before me and during her appointment Donna whispered in her ear about the price increase. what is the secret though??!!! My mom asked if she told me and she said no and that's why my mother paid because she knew I would be upset by this, but it's the point that it was never mentioned and that if it was Atleast I'd have the opportunity to search out other salons. The review was merely to warn people of the price increase but now to warn people about the business owner.

I decided to take a chance on this place and here is my experience over the course of four months:…read moreFirst off, I'd like to say that my review is not based on my pedicurist, Tammy! She is an absolute gem and it was with complete sadness that she had to pay for the "sins" of her colleague! But hey, if you rep for your company, you gotta endure the good with the bad; and in this case...BAD ALL THE WAY AROUND! Tom is a very big-headed manicurist, who knows his craft. But without humility he makes mistakes. The first time, he did my nails (full set), I got the attitude of I should be grateful, but I shrugged it off because, my nails came out very nice and I typically don't care to cater to people's swollen heads. If you do a great job, I'm going to acknowledge it as so, and you'll get my business. I made my next appointment for 4-weeks later. On my second appointment (cut and fill-in) - he was 5mins late - not sweating it, but no apology (took note of that). Nails came out great (or so I thought), and I made my next appointment. Three days later, the acrylic began lifting (painfully). I work long days and so, it's very hard for me to just go in for a fix, so I put a band-aid over it, to keep it steady. But then another nail was lifting; and so, I drove over and requesting Tom to fix it. He asked me to come back in an hour. All fixed. Third appointment, I walk in for my appointment to see Tom beginning someone's nails and he's ignoring me. I'm standing right in front of him, thinking he was just helping a fellow manicurist, but he looks up and ask, "Can I help you?". After a quick shake of my head, I answered, that I have a 10am appointment with him. He says nothing while continuing the service of the other lady. So, I said, "Tom, I have an appointment with Tammy as well. Would you prefer I start with my pedicure?"...Continued silence. Tammy finally came over, after hearing her name and escorted me to her chair with apologies. Tom, came over after to begin my fill-in. Again, after a week, nails began chipping. My time is limited, so I fixed it myself! Not happy that the quality is subpar. Fourth and final appointment: Once again, I walk in ON TIME, to see yet again, another person in Tom's chair beginning their service. I said to Tom that I have an appointment with him for 10am. He waits, checks his schedule, then tells me he needs 20mins. I told him, I don't have that kind of time, as I am on a schedule - hence why I make my appointments a month in advance. He ignores me. After waiting 5 mins, I stand up from my seat, and quietly walk out! There are too many nail salons in this area and nearby for me to cause a scene! Why should I have fight for someone to TAKE my money. I would NEVER go to this place again, and if you're smart, neither would you!

Sep 27, 2025: Rating 5 stars Today I came to get a pedicure which long overdue. Since it's my birthday I decided to go all out and get the Gold Mystique Spa Pedicure ( Definitely highly recommend this package! ) and gold chrome polish as the cherry on top! First of all, my nail tech, Eric, was *****AWESOME****!!!!!! He gave me the BEST 20 minute foot and leg massage. Strong and firm hands are what I prefer for rub downs, and he delivered! The execution of the pedicure and polish job was top notch as I always expect and receive at this salon. ----------- June or July 2025: Rating 3 stars For today's services I brought hubby with me for a couples pedicure session and last minute I opted for eyebrow waxing. Pedicure: Mint $40 + I have to give a special shout-out to Amy! Her attention to detail is amazing. She did my pedicure weeks ago, and I was genuinely surprised when she remembered me on my return visit - despite me having completely forgotten hers! That kind of personal recognition truly sets her apart. And, as always, the pedicure itself was expertly done. Though my eyebrows turned out alright, the service was subpar. The older gentleman who performed the waxing had a very gruff demeanor from the start. He entered the room and simply told me to lie down, neglecting to pull down a clean sheet of tissue paper for the headrest - it was visibly crumpled from a prior use. Worse, I detected a strong cigarette odor when he began applying the wax. After I mentioned it, he offered a half-hearted "sorry" but made no effort to wash his hands before continuing. I felt entirely disregarded and his lack of professionalism was very off-putting. I will certainly make sure to avoid him for any future services.

I sent the photo of the manicure I wanted to the nail tech about six hours before the appointment…read moreso that she could not only let me know if she can do it but also pull the colors needed and schedule enough time. I am attaching a photo of what I asked for and what I ended up getting. I feel that the photo I asked for was very elegant, and I feel that the result of what I got looked like a toddler did it. I've been here a number of times and have been fairly satisfied with the results although the technician that does my nails frequently catches an attitude, especially if you ask her to adjust something. She had said in the past that she's the professional and doesn't want anyone telling her how to do her job. She doesn't take feedback well at all. She had criticisms about the way that I was positioning my chair which was to turn it sideways each time She was doing one of my hands so that I could sit in a position that didn't hurt my back- not a big deal In my opinion. I wasn't switching back-and-forth between each nail. I was positioning myself when she was doing the beginning of the manicure, which was the cleaning and filing of each hand. When it got time to do the designs, I asked her if she can do the black design the way that it was in the photo which is to say the black French tips- some of them are curved, and some of them were pointed, and she did all of them pointed and very thin. This was after sitting in the chair for over two hours- she went to wipe all of the design off and I asked her not to do that. She said she didn't have time to do my designs and that I would have to leave with my nails plain. I told her that my time is valuable as well, and I had already sat there for two hours while she worked on a design that she obviously did not know how to do and from the looks of it did not make a very valiant effort. She said she can't copy the design 100%. I said I'm not asking for 100%. I'm just asking for the black French part to be a larger part of the nail as it is in the picture. I had to literally stop her from wiping everything off, and then she redid the tips which looked better than they did originally but still awful. The end of the manicure was tense. I did not appreciate that she did not respect my time and had me sitting there for over two hours and her resolution to it was to send me off with something that I did not ask for which was a plain manicure. I cut my losses and let her finish. She charged me $85 for this manicure which in my opinion she clearly overcharged. I will absolutely not be going back again. She is stressful to work with has an attitude and talks poorly about other people that have worked there. I don't mind paying extra for quality service, but this, like many nail salons, does not pass the vibe check after the first few appointments. If a person cannot do a design, then they should just say so not be annoyed with the customer because they have to do extra work. Charge me extra money if it's extra work, but I think it's reasonable to get what you're asking for when you go to get your nails done which is essentially a luxury service. The manicures I request are very intricate and I understand that but as a nail technician that is literally your job. If you can't do it, just say that you can't do it, but don't have someone sitting in your chair for over two hours only to attempt to send them home. I don't appreciate attitude and I don't appreciate my time being wasted. I also don't appreciate subpar results. I will continue looking for a better nail salon, where there is no attitude. Wish me luck! Signed, A well-paying customer.
