Unfortunately, my pedicurist put what felt like the least bit of effort into the "massage" it was really just softly rubbing in lotion--not the relaxing finish I was hoping for. The other reason I'm giving this place one less star is the color selection. The polish section was a little messy, and when I asked for the nail color book, they didn't have one. For a simple girl like me, this is as good as it gets. Good price for a regular manicure. They have little pedestals to rest your wrists on (made with leather and wood). Angela was a gentle and nimble nail technician. Also, I don't really like small talk when I get my nails done, so I appreciated that Angela focused on her work while I just zoned out. The classical music amid the white & wood decor provided a relaxing atmosphere. P.S. I actually went for a repair job. I wanted to remove a very old gel manicure (done somewhere else) that I half peeled off and I just wanted a regular manicure to save me a future trip to the salon. Called around noon on a Tuesday, 5//2021 to see if anyone was available. Was able to get a 3:30 and seen by around 4:10. I didn't make a big deal on the wait since I was basically a walk-in. 2 ladies walked in shortly after me and left after about 15 so the wait isn't for everyone. Another woman walked in and was recognized and greeted in a friendly manner. I used to go here a few years ago. Candy did my nails at the time. On this visit Herah did them. I asked for a full set, coffin shaped in a classic French manicure. She didn't ask me if I wanted acrylic, dip or gel but went ahead and did gel. Maybe that's what works best for the French. She was careful, didn't make me feel rushed and was able to do the half moons pretty much free hand. Full gel set was $90 before tip. I like to get them fairly long during the initial visit so that I have room to shape & design it to my liking. I'm pretty good at maintaining my own nails but not so hot at doing a full set on myself. Overall I'm happy with the job that Harah did and would recommend her. read more

I have never been treated with such hostility and anger, coming from the owner no less on two occasions. This ill-treatment was utterly deplorable. Perhaps, Coco has trouble understanding comments & normal communication versus "complaints" because there is a language barrier, but her defensive, aggressive, anger in a customer service industry is disgusting. This place seems clean. The staff do not engage at all but at least they seem to make an effort. My biggest issue is how cheap the polishes are. I have gone to this place a few times to get a gel manicure and pedicure. Every time, doesn't fail, my nails have chipped the next day. You can tell the quality is bad. Either bad or they just keep adding acetone and reusing. I really tried giving this place a chance but it's just cheap. On Thursday I decided to go for dip nails to see if I have better luck with the quality but yet again, within two days my nails chipped. They also overprice. The establishment was clean and the staff was courteous. The young lady really took her time with the requested services. I appreciated that she didn't try to generate random conversation and let me sit back and enjoy the massage chair. I was pleasantly surprised by the hot stone being added to a regular pedicure. As I was leaving a young lady was picking her color for the Shea Butter pedicure and said "once you got Shea butter, you don't go back". Guess what I'm planning to try the next time around? By far one of my favorite nail salons! I have gotten two gel manicures here and they have been amazing. The nail techs are very careful and detail-oriented. I usually have an issue with nail salons not filing my nails evenly when I ask for a square cut (they're lopsided). But this is the first salon I have not had to ask to redo the filing. They have a large selection of name-brand polishes, both for regular and gel manicures. I also got my eyebrows waved here. I will say that they could have been a bit gentler and used less wax, but the outcome was amazing. It stung more than it usually does when I get a wax, but there was no blood or excessive redness. It is only $5-10 more than other salons in the area, but the service is much more professional. read more

I get the best gel manicures at Soho in Highland Park. (I also get great pedicures). The place is clean (very important to me) and always sanitary. I can always get an appointment and never wait very long. The prices are competitive and they always do a great job. In the times I have smudged my nails in the few days after my manicure/pedicure, they always fit me in to fix them. The listen to what you ask and they can be creative if you want. I went in to get my nails done for my wedding. The staff were clean, engaging and did good work. However, I requested "whatever is the LEAST expensive" when getting my nails done as I requested tips, which I had never gotten before. She asked if I wanted UV Gel or acrylics and I very specifically said TWICE that I didn't know what to get because I had never done tips before, but I wanted the least expensive option. She chose UV gel, didn't tell me, and charged me $75--the MOST expensive option. Needless to say, I was very surprised by the charge. I will not be going back because I feel it was an opportunistic charge. Also got a pedi. My bill was $100 + tip, but they would have gotten a lot more out of me in the long run with return visits if they hadn't taken advantage of my ignorance this time. Two stars because my nails do look great, but not worth the dishonest business practice. I still stand by my "drying station" is awesome because it's in the window for people watching. Even after a year of going here, I still love it. I'm super sad to be moving away in the summer because I finally found a place that does my shellac manicure perfectly. They know that I love my nails short and they do it so nicely. The interior is still lovely and clean, it is the best of the nail salons I have seen in Highland Park. There are tons of colors to choose from, I usually only do a shellac except on pedicures. I think the price is reasonable and the staff is friendly. They do a good job and I've always been happy with their service. My favorite part is still the loyalty card. Even if you don't have it with you (I lost mine months ago) they can look you up and put your points on it. I think it's a win for w loyalty card! After going to this place twice, I ended up with extremely damaged nails. The workers in the salon removed the gel manicure with a peeling machine that essentially broke two of my nails in half. After going to a more reputable and professional salon, I was informed that nail technicians often remove gel like that without informing you of the possible consequence for your nail. That is not how you remove nail polish. Now I almost never use gel( only about 3 times a year Max) nevertheless they told me in the other salon that my nails looked as if I had damaged them consistently for years. It's incredible that after only 2 visits workers here achieved to damage my nails permanently. read more

Prices are insanely expensive, are never the same, and don't make sense. Went in December for the first time paid $100 for a full set! $100!!!! Due to spending that much I kept going back for a fill in over the last couple months. Fill in cost me between $65 and $68. Again, insane. Got them done recently, a week later 2 nails were broke. Got them both fixed on a Wednesday - cost $8 total for the 2- and by Saturday one of the ones I just got fixed broke again. Went back to get 1 fixed a few days later and mentioned it broke within 3 days and no comment. Then this time that one nail cost $8- yet cost $8 a few days before for 2? I'm new to the area and looking for a regular nail salon. I had a terrible experience here. My pedicure, as seen in the picture, was done by someone who seemed very inexperienced and didn't clean up my cuticles at all. My problem was with the manager. The manager did my toenail paint, and did not address this but just painted right over my cuticles. She also did my manicure, and told me she would need to charge $ 10 for gel removal. I told her no problem, I'd take it off at home and just do the pedicure for today, but she insisted and said she would just charge me 5. She then filed (instead of soaked) off my gel with the machine for acrylics, burning my hand to the point that I had to pull it away from her. She didn't soak my cuticles at all, but did everything dry...four of my cuticles were bleeding when I left, and my nails are wrecked and uneven. As I got in the car and saw one of my fingers continue to bleed I did return to complain...the manager said she would give my money back, then handed me a 10 and walked away. (The total cost was $40, and I'd also left a 20 percent tip as I felt bad not to leave a tip for the kid who did my pedicure). I get manicures regularly and I've never had an experience like this. I liked my first visit here for a pedicure. I was doing laundry up the street so I figured I'd waste time. I'm not really good with walking in to a random spot I figured I'd give it a shot...besides a pedicure isn't really a doomed duty anyway. My tech was awesome and through. My were looking crazy Before I walked up in there!! And thank the lord she put me on something new. She wrapped my feet in this plastic wrap with this gel and soon my feet felt so smooth! As far as options go for the immediate New Brunswick area, this is one of the better options. However, the quality of pedicures is inconsistent. I have been here 4 times. 1 great experience, 2 good, 1 awful. My cuticles always need attention. Last time I was here (awful experience) the tech began applying the base layer before trimming the cuticles. When I asked her about it, she swatted my hands away and told me to be patient... She would get to the cuticles. She proceeded to do the worst polish application ever. One of the toes was so bad, I had her redo it. I left and vowed not to come back. Not a huge fan. Maybe 2 times did I get a great mani and pedi. The chairs are comfy and the place looks nice, but the last handful of times I've been there I've been rushed thru, and my requests not acknowledged. I always ask them only to cut my toenails to the end of the toe but they always cut them more (I am prone to ingrown nails and over cutting them aggravates the situation). I also ask them to keep as much length as possible on my hands because I'm trying to grow them out, and the nails are at the edge of my finger at best, and the polish came out horrible. I've attached a pic.. On every nail, there is a raised square shape in the middle of the nail. What even is that?! I'm actually pretty upset because I tipped pretty big and did not get great service. And now I have to wait for my nails to grow out again. Also, there was a customer talking on the phone the entire time I was there, which ruined the relaxation for me. I don't care to hear half of a phone convo while I'm trying to relax. It was rude of the customer for sure, but the employees should have said something.
