Lucy gave me a basic mani/pedi with sheer pink to complement the spring season. Goodbye winter. She was nice, made my nails even, didn't cut me, and my polish had no air bubbles. The bar was low. Sadly, I will not be back to tip top nails. I didn't feel like the tools were clean enough. I'm used to individual sterilized equipment. Also, the smell of chemicals was so strong that I felt dizzy. My hair still reeks of acetone and whatever toxic gasses were hanging in the air. They did have an air purifier humming along in the corner, but it was not enough to clear the air. I just got home from a brow wax. They charged $15 for a half ass job. I get home and I had to clean up all the hairs they didn't go back to pluck as well as trim my brows. it took me 10 minutes to do what should have been taken care of at Tip top. don't waste your time or money. Worst nail salon in the area. Always have been overpriced but they have the worst acrylics and laughable "nail art." Most of the technicians can't paint a nail at all. This was my first and last time coming to tiptop nails. I asked for silk wrap extensions in an almond shape and i wanted a light natural pink color. They gave me a crappy ghost white color and one of my nails was put on so crooked it looked like it was pointing at my other hand, as for the shape ... they were chunky lopsided almonds on my hands. To top it off when i went to pay they tried charging $615.95 to my card thankfully my bank reported it as fraud. I've never been so mistreated. I told them I would be back to get the right color and shape the next day. The next day i returned and they took 1 hour to fix the one crooked nail and then refused to reshape them or color them in the correct color. I went home and reshaped and colored them myself since they were still fugly. But there was no point in reshaping them or coloring them seeing that they popped off the next day. The color selections are excellent and the staff is friendly, but they have Newsmax tv on constantly. The last thing I want to watch while getting my nails done is right-wing news. Do they know they're in New York? I tried to make the suggestion to turn on a home show or food network show but I was dismissed. I usually come here with my boyfriend's mother who introduced me to this place. It's usually fine but I never get anything fancy... I recently came with my friend as we both got gift cards. We called and made an appointment. When we got there we picked out colors - I got a manicure and pedicure which didn't even last three days. My friend got a set of acrylics nails. They were AWFUL - HORRID. She kept asking them to change this and that because she could tell they were going to come out horribly. At one point as I was getting my nails done I turn and see her with not only the lady who was originally doing her nails but they had recruited another nail lady to help. She was standing right next to the other lady and they were both frantically filing her nails. When we got up to pay, the lady at the front tried to charge my friend $615!!! Thankfully her bank saw it as fraud so it didn't go through. She had to go back the next day and get the fixed - when she was done her nails still looked awful. Much better than the night before when she first got them done but they were still sore on the eyes. SO UNPROFESSIONAL!! If you are not capable of what a client is asking - SAY YOU CAN'T DO IT & MOVE ON!! I feel so awful. My friend and I were suppose to have a nice time getting nails done together but the experience was ruined. - I would NOT recommend this place if you're looking for a cute acrylic set. No!! I received a gift certificate at Christmas for this business. I immediately read the reviews on Yelp as I have purposely avoided this place since it opened. Unfortunately, as expected, I did not have a good experience. I called ahead of time and asked for an appointment, as I work and am on a schedule. I asked if my mani-pedi could be a spa pedicure. Yes, she replied. Upon arrival I gave her the certificate and she wrote $2.14 on it. Apparently that was my change for the next visit. I asked if I could have that applied towards the tip and she reluctantly gave me the money. The woman, Lisa, who serviced me was rude and dismissive. I felt as though I was working for them. They wanted to know where I came from. Did I live around the area. Really? What business is it of theirs where I live! But this is the snobbery I anticipated. I recieved a call, which ordinarily I would not take. It was a colleague in distress. I mostly listened, not to disturb others (about 2 minutes). Lisa had finished. Instead of just carrying my things for me, (I'm holding my purse and the phone), she's shoving 3 of my polishes in my face, my socks and shoes are there. You get the picture. She dumps my stuff off rudely at their drying station not saying a word. Furious, I asked the manager for change, played out $8 and all of a sudden she is getting my coat, she's helping me with my sneakers. Yes ladies, I am a good tipper. I'm surprised the reviews here are so negative. Compared to other things I've researched about nail salons in the area. I just moved here from NYC so knew that the nails in the area couldn't compete in price nor convenience (they all close so early) but still, I had a good experience here. TT closes at 7pm, and I called for a gel mani and regular pedi about an hour in advance and they kindly squeezed me in. Other salons (Cache/Harbor Point) wouldn't. The salon is big, clean, and seem to have a lot of staff so maybe they can support last minute stuff. Since I was toward the end toward, they did my gel mani while they did my feet which I sort of hate but understand. They were still very careful about the nails and on day 4-5, no chips. I do think they take more time and do a quality job over the cheap salons in the city simply because I have no chips or anything. Even when I do a cheap gel, it doesn't stay flawless for this long. My toes were fine..standard. They didn't try to upsell as hard as they do in the city but they did seem to wrinkle their noses when I didn't exclusively give tip for the two people who did my hands and feet. But I gave PLENTY for both of them to figure it out. I did independent tip this guy who did a 10 minutes massage (which was good) but that was because it was clearly separate... Just my thoughts. I would probably come back but try Cache next time, I think they do more nail art. read more

Went with my daughter. They spent about 5 mins on her toes - she could have done a better job herself (she's 8). For me, the woman seemed mad that I didn't want to upgrade my pedicure so couldn't be bothered to soak my feet properly (water wasn't even warm) or remove the dry skin. She left nail polish on my toe, made one of my fingernail cuticles bleed because she cut them so quickly & aggressively (without asking - usually i just have them pushed back & didn't notice until too late) and did a poor job again with the application of the polish. Our are experience was extremely disappointing. First, the store was ill-equipped to take care of my daughters nails and she was in pain for the entire duration of the service. Second, this is the second time I am giving them a chance with a petty cure and they have been rough with me every time; equally a painful experience. Third but not last, I was giving a price of $27 for a pedicure and $12 for a manicure and we ended up having to pay $82. Not gentle, not professional, and untruthful about prices. This is a typical nail salon with rows of pedicure chairs and many manicure stations. The people are friendly and do a decent job. At the end of your pedicure (or manicure), while your nails are drying, a man comes by and massages your shoulders and it feels GREAT. Why a 3-star review then? First of all, I think this is overpriced for what it is. I think the basic pedicure is $32 but EVERYthing is additional. I don't even think they sand to remove callouses unless you pay an additional $12 for callous removal. I also think sometimes they don't clean your nails as well as they should before painting so the polish doesn't last. My last polish job only lasted a day before chipping in many places. read more

I really, really want to like Tip Top. The person who does your nails makes all the difference - and they range from great to terrible. I have had pedicures where I left loving the whole experience, and with great shape and color to my nails, and very smooth feet. I have also had experiences where the whole time I felt like my being there was bothering the pedicurist. She rushed and grunted at me and did a really mediocre job. I think the extra money for callous-remover is worth it - again if you get the right person. With a bad luck-of-the-draw person you basically get a regular manicure or pedicure with the add on price of special services. I haven't ever had any problems with cuticles or any in-growns. I have tipped well in hopes that someone will remember me upon my return and do a great job knowing I will tip $10 (for a pedi) but I never get the same person again. Most expensive pedicure of my entire life. The base price was $35. OK, considering it's in my neighborhood and convenient, I figured why not. However, between the dirty soaking tub and completely horrific shaping job (which left me with two ingrowns), I ended up with a massive infection and needed to get parts of the nails on both big toes removed. Final cost of this pedicure with physician co-pays and post-surgical supplies = $255, not to mention a lot of wasted time. The place is always crowded, so it seems that others have had better luck there. But honestly, I could not have had a worse experience. My favorite place has gone down hill. Last get mani and pedi cost me $70 and all the girl did was insult me thru the mani pedi.complaining my nail are too short. Then she does my gel mani , lazy as can be. She didnt even soak my cuticles and clean them up until i complained. She argued with me that all techs dont soak cuticles before they trim them . I have only been here twice but I've had an overall good experience both times. The space is big and clean, the ladies do a good job on your nails, and they are very reasonably priced. The only thing I think worth mentioning is that the man that gives you the "complementary" massages is very good and gives a VERY long massage. However... both times when I paid at the end and tipped the girl who did my nails, she asked if it was for just her or for him too. I've been to a million nail salons in my life and this is the first time I've ever been asked that (also the first time it's been suggested that the free massage should warrant a tip). It made me feel extremely uncomfortable and both times when I said, "just for you," the guy looked pissed. Had a terrible experience with my mother at Tip Top Nails, we are regular customers and come about 1x a month. We walk in today an ask for 2 pedicures. A client walks in after us and also asks for a pedicure. 10 minutes later the salon receptionist tells the woman after us to take a seat in the pedicure chair and waves over my mother 2 minutes later. After 5-7 minutes of additional waiting I asked her why the woman behind me was served first? Now there would be a timing issue with my mothers pedicure and I would be done significantly after her. I asked her what is the policy of the establishment and why was the woman, who clearly came after, us served first? She did NOT respond to the question said "1 minute". I waited 10 more minutes before she ushered me in. By the time I sat down my mother was nearly done with her pedicure. My esthetician rushed through mine and had me done 3 minutes after my mother. She barely cut my cuticles & skipped the massage. The esthetician also made it abundantly clear she was in a bad mood and handled me very roughly; throwing my legs and feet around as if I was an animal. I could not believe I was actually going to have to pay for this utter and complete lack of service and professionalism. There are TONS of nail salons in Greenwich and my mother and I will not be returning to this one; 2 customers of almost 10 years are taking their business elsewhere. read more

I don't know what the other two reviewers are talking about because anytime I have been here my regular pedicure which includes all the callous scrubbing, nail clipping, shaping, and cuticle cutting was only 25. The eyebrow waxing is always done perfectly and is only 8 dollars! And manicures are perfect and only 8 dollars as well. I am always very pleased with my nails. I got my fingernails and eyebrows done yesterday and my eyebrows look great (they pluck anything they miss) and my nails are flawless. I noticed this time she cut all my cuticles off (it didn't hurt but they just normally push them back) I don't mind them ll being trimmed because my nails look very clean now. I received a gift card so have gone twice so far...big disappointment both times! I just got back from CVS with nail polish to fix the manicure I got 2 days ago!!!! She spent about 5 minutes total on me, didn't wait for coats to dry. It looked nice for one day, then started to chip on second day. Pedicure was similar but it lasted longer, only problem was that she didn't go all the way to the nail base so it looked like it had already grown out by the time I got home. These people don't speak English and butchered my nails!! Instead of soaking my gels tips to soften them after I asked them to do this repeatedly, they took a tool and sanded my nail down to the skin! Then they told me it wasn't them! I have a regular nail salon at home that I have been going to for over 6 years but I travel with my work and sometimes I need a fill when I'm on the road from other salons. I went to Tip Top nails to fix two repairs, they did a good job and charged me $22, was a good experience. The next day I had two other repairs and thought I would get my nails filled / Thicken while I was there because they kept breaking. They charged me over $80 to do 8 of my nails which was outrageous. Charged me for a full set which is normally $70 compared to a Fill which is $35. All they did was repair two nails and thicken the other 6 nails since I had already had two repaired the day before. I feel they totally ripped me off charging so much. Extremely disappointed, I was going to make this salon my back up salon when I'm travel in the area with my work but can't afford them ripping me off like this is again. I Would definitely recommend asking the cost of services before going to this salon. I really should have only paid $35 for a fill plus $22 for two repairs totaling $57. Oh, when I asked about the price the lady told me we charge extra for longer nails... shake my head! (SMH). read more

I have used Tip Top off and in for over ten years because of their convenience. But they often disappoint. Either a nail cut too short drawing blood or cuticles trimmer to close. I went in today to get a pedicure from this establishment and they did a bait and switch on me. They told me on the phone that a wax costs $25.00 for half my legs. When It was time to pay, I was given a cost of $80.00 to get both my legs and my daughters legs waxed. They were extremely rude, especially when they demanded a large tip from me. Cleanliness at this place was terrible. They used paper plates to place the wax on (very embarrassing). Such poor quality and bad customer service. They just want to get you in and out.
