The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because it is well kept and clean. Other than that, I would rather have my two year old niece paint my nails. I will NEVER go back. Came in at noon on a not busy Sunday. They didn't tell me there was a wait for a pedicure and walked me to the chair. Five, ten, fifteen and then twenty minutes goes by (meanwhile my feet are puckered like raisins in the tepid water) and finally a woman comes to do my nails. Right away, I could tell she hated her life. She asked me if I wanted the spa pedicure, and when I said no, that was it. She was done with me. She proceeded to beat my feet up. The filing was abusive, the way she kept shoving my feet up and down was abusive, and her scrubbing was just short of torture. I winced in pain the entire time and continued to pull my foot away from her whenever she hurt me. Other customers were just staring in shock. She never spoke to me, never bothered to make eye contact, kept wiping her nose on her sleeve and it was over in about 8 minutes. My feet are still raw and red. If you are in the service industry, I would think you would at least try not to injure your customers. I am not exaggerating for the web, she was brutal. As for going above and beyond and actually smiling at them, saying hi, well that would be too much to ask for here. read more

They need to train their staff here. They have a great location and the place is nicely set up. Unfortunately the woman doing my manicure was rushing and very aggressive. She cut me twice with the cuticle cutter. I don't know why she was rushing, it was midday on a Friday and no one else was there. She also forgot that she cut me when she was massaging my hands at the end and basically massages right into the wound! Also at the very end I tried to pay with credit card since they said only tips needed to be in cash but she refused to take it and insisted I pay in cash. Got a spa pedicure and a regular manicure... $166! Outrageous. And they were cleaning up all around me. Worst mani pedi I may have ever had and double what I normally pay. Asked about the pricing twice and she said a regular pedicure was $65 and a spa pedicure was $65 so $65 + $65 = the price.... I am dumbfounded read more

Sunny is the best! She is knowledgable and has a great staff. More importantly it is the cleanest nail spa in town. I love this place and Sunny is a very compassionate human. I also love how when you are having a manicure/pedicure they give you two massages- One while they are prepping your nails for manicure and the second when your nails are drying. Not many people may know all the acts of kindness Sunny and John (her husband) have done and do on a daily basis. Its nice to know they are in Darien and I'll always go here. read more

Sunny Nail Salon is great. It was moved from over by Noroton Heights train station to a nicer location in the center of Darien - the nail artists are extremely fast and the manicure is only $11. Pretty nice if you need to be in and out pretty quickly with dry, nicely done nails. Only downside: they only accept cash & check, no credit cards. Make sure you have one or the other before you go!! Walked in 1 1/2 hr before closing for gel mani and reg pedi. Pedi water cold. Felt like they rushed me out of there and short cut the services. I did not ask price in advance and it wasn't posted. 30 min late I was out $64 with an average looking mani pedi. They do take credit cards now. read more

Never going here again (and I have been to this salon numerous times.) Staff was rude and the pedicures for both my friend and myself were mediocre at best, only because we arrived ONE HOUR before closing time (and left 15 minutes before closing time.) We were charged $74 for two basic pedicures which is ridiculous! The woman at the desk was rudely rushing us out the door so we just tipped the technicians based on the huge charge, but vowed to never return again. read more

I was doing some shopping in Darien and needed my gel manicure done as it was really chipped and decided to stop in at Sunny nails. What an unfriendly place. I introduced myself to my nail tech, and she seemed annoyed. Next, while my old gel was soaking off, one of the owners or managers came over to inform me that since my previous manicure wasn't done there it would be an additional $7 charge for the soak off. I said well it's kind of late to tell me now since it's half soaked off so I guess it's fine. I have had my gel mani done at several salons at various price points in the area and I have never been charged extra for a soak off. Nevermind that Sunny nails is already more expensive than most of the other walk in salons in the area. Good thing I had extra cash too as they do not take debit or credit cards which they do not inform you of prior. Since my tech was unfriendly I just sat there quietly while she worked. I also made the mistake of asking if they did kids manicures since I have a daughter - she just rolled her eyes. Apparently customers are just SO annoying. I had a broken nail, which annoyed her further as she rolled her eyes again. I would have understood her frustration if there was a line of people waiting, but I happened to come in during an afternoon lull and many of the techs did not even have clients. Which brings me to my next issue. So while I was getting my mani I was facing the other stations. There was another tech, and 2 of the owners sitting at 3 stations watching TV and talking about me! I just happened to look up and she realized I saw her and she just gave a little half smile and an "oops" look. So rude. Now I was totally uncomfortable. The one saving grace was an amazing massage. Truly fantastic. My manicure came out great as well, but between the higher price of the manicure, the additional charge for the soak off, and the snarky comments and unfriendly atmosphere, I would only go back if I was in the area and desperately needed to get my gel mani re-done and it was for convenience only. read more
