Once I was finally seated, the experience only got worse. The nail technician completely damaged my natural nails. She aggressively used the electric file and dug into my nails, creating deep ridges in the nail beds. She also filed the sides down so narrowly that each nail ended up jagged, uneven, and poorly shaped. It honestly felt like she lacked basic experience. I immediately went to my regular nail salon to have the gel removed, and even then, gel is still embedded in the grooves that were carved into my nails from the over-filing. I've been told it will take around three months for the damage to fully grow out. When I expressed how upset I was about the condition of my nails, management refused a refund, saying they couldn't refund the manicure because the technician "took her time." Taking time does not excuse destroying someone's nails. I had to ensure management that I also tipped this nail tech before having them agree to refund me. This was my first and last visit. If you care about the health of your natural nails, avoid this place. The damage caused was traumatic and completely unacceptable.

In the weeks that followed I did every conceivable thing to sabotage my nails. hauled furniture, gardened, painted, scrubbed with wire mesh, never, ever wearing gloves. It was insane how perfectly they held up. Not one break, chip, or peel off. Its been nearly three weeks now. If not for the fact that my nails have grown out, they look as great as the day I had them done. Not kidding. Those ladies have serious skills! I noticed that their process is in some ways different than the other salons and am certain those measures account for the durability and polish. They also don't rush or cheat. Another big thing for me... without my asking, both women took additional steps to correct or minimize imperfections in my nails - the sort of things that I feel embarrassed to call out. Over the years, I've been here a few times when I've been back in town, and my mom has come here once in a while, but not since Susan herself stopped working here. Before yesterday's visit, it never struck me as anything out of the ordinary, but they've made some amazing changes to their services which make this place really stand above the rest. My mom and I stopped in here for manicures early afternoon and were attended to immediately. The three technicians working (one male, two female) were very sweet, and attentive to my infant daughter who watched us from her stroller. I have had bad experiences with guys doing my nails in the past, so I was a bit unsure of how this would turn out, but the man technician who did my nails was top notch quality and super attentive to every detail in the process. My nails (and my mom's) look great, but the whole experience was worth waaaay more than the $10/manicure price we paid. Why? Well, with your manicure, you get a nice hand scrub and massage, a complimentary paraffin wax treatment for your hands (!!!), hot towel, a neck/back massage during the paraffin treatment AND a massage (with some deliciously warm neck compress) while your hands are drying. I've paid $15 extra for paraffin treatments in the past, and could not believe that this was all included in the $10 price tag. My mom also got a wrap put on one broken nail and it looks good as new! I will definitely make a point to come back here whenever I come home to Wilton.

All I needed was a polish color change, something that is simple... I called ahead to ask if they're available for a polish color change, and I was told someone would certainly be available, and I said I'll be there in 15. I arrived at 5:08 PM and wasn't helped until 5:25 PM, which I totally understood since I didn't have an appointment in advance - really no issues yet. The first person who assisted me burned my finger twice while buffing off my existing polish and then chipped one of my gel tips on my middle finger. I came in for a simple color change, and now I needed an extension to fix the big chip. I was eventually moved to an older woman, who I believe is the owner. She applied gel to fix the broken tip and reassured that it was a free charge. I appreciated it. But then she attempted to put the gel extensions on the rest of my nails; I had gotten a fill only a week ago and they were already a fresh new set. I had to stop her and reiterate that I was ONLY there for a color change, nothing more... She then tried to upsell me, explaining that a color change costs $35 but for an additional $10, I could get gel extensions to make my nails stronger and help the color last longer. I made it clear that this was not what I wanted. Side note: it is RIDICULOUS to charge $35 for a color change... She continued to upsell, offering a $2 hard coat, which I explicitly declined and clearly stated "no," and her response was "ok" ; I get upselling is part of the job and a way to run a business, so again no real issue here. However the issue became after I said no, she proceeded to try applying it anyway and then added it to my total. When she told me the total was $35 for the color change plus $2 for the hard coat, I was stern and was not accepting her sneaking in this charge. She did remove the charge, but the fact that she attempted to charge me for a service I had specifically refused is extremely disrespectful. I came in for a simple color change and left feeling disrespected and disgusted. And it all took wayyy too long - Like I said, I walked in at 5:08 PM, and left at 6:05 PM. I completely understand that businesses need money, but SNEAKING IN upgrades a customer never agreed to is shameful. I would caution others to be very clear about what they agree to before allowing any service to proceed. Unless $35 color changes and being charged up the ass is their thing.

She never spoke to me, never bothered to make eye contact, kept wiping her nose on her sleeve and it was over in about 8 minutes. My feet are still raw and red. If you are in the service industry, I would think you would at least try not to injure your customers. I am not exaggerating for the web, she was brutal.
