I don't usually write reviews, but I feel strongly that people should be warned before coming here. I booked an appointment for a regular gel manicure and still waited 45 minutes before being taken, despite arriving on time. Once I was finally seated, the experience only got worse. The nail technician completely damaged my natural nails. She aggressively used the electric file and dug into my nails, creating deep ridges in the nail beds. She also filed the sides down so narrowly that each nail ended up jagged, uneven, and poorly shaped. It honestly felt like she lacked basic experience. I immediately went to my regular nail salon to have the gel removed, and even then, gel is still embedded in the grooves that were carved into my nails from the over-filing. I've been told it will take around three months for the damage to fully grow out. When I expressed how upset I was about the condition of my nails, management refused a refund, saying they couldn't refund the manicure because the technician "took her time." Taking time does not excuse destroying someone's nails. I had to ensure management that I also tipped this nail tech before having them agree to refund me. This was my first and last visit. If you care about the health of your natural nails, avoid this place. The damage caused was traumatic and completely unacceptable. read more

Went in to get my nails done -- said I had a set amount of time to do my nails and toes -- 90 minutes and they said no problem. I asked this same question throughout the service, in this time I did get a pedicure, but the gentleman hardly had time to file at this point. I did have hard gel on prior, but was disappointed. If there wasn't another nail technician sitting there it would've been fine, but seems like they could've made it work. Let's first start off by saying I'm a person who is very big and customer service and believes it makes or breaks a business. Upon arrival the lady who must've been the owner looked me up and down and did not say hello and then proceeds to tell me they are appointment only without asking me if I had an appointment or not. Honestly I just feel like it was racially profiling and she did not want to do my nails because I am an African-American woman. there were three nail techs there and no customers at all. I could respect a place being appointment only because that's not uncommon but the fact that she did not ask me if I wanted to make an appointment for the next day or later on just made me feel like she did not want my business at all ... So far I've had a color gel manicure and a 15 min chair massage here and I am in love!!! I was so concerned that moving to SoNo would disrupt my "personal service" regimen that took me almost 5 years to perfect in Stamford but instead I found this gem right next to my office building. Their landlord should take care of them a bit better because it was pretty cold and they needed to use heaters but otherwise I think the space is clean, the technicians talented and courteous and the prices are divine. Went to get a full set of stiletto nails. My manicurist commented that my desired length was too long (I'm paying for a service. If I want foot long nails that is my prerogative) but eventually gamely settled to the task and my nails turned out perfect. They didn't make the acrylic into a paste like I've always seen - instead they painted on the liquid then shoved my fingers into the powder, which I worried wouldn't be thick enough so they agreed to do the process twice. The thinness of the nails did make for some pain in the filing process and my cuticles were stinging. When I go back to my regular manicurist I'll see whether this full set will hold up. It seems pretty strong right now so I'm optimistic. I'm obviously very particular about my nails and ultimately the process doesn't matter much to me so long as the final product is acceptable. I went on Saturday October 31st 2020at 1:00pm. I closed my eyes to relax and trusted the manicurist wouldn't ruin my nails. I WAS WRONG TO DO THAT. They used an acrylic nail file to TAKE OFF an old gel manicure. Not realizing he removed all the gel continued to file into my nails until they're as thin as paper. Today is Tuesday not even two full days after my appointment and my nails are breaking and falling off with gel on them. I loved SONO nails before, but love them even more now. I've been to a few places in Norwalk that were grimy before COVID, and somehow seem to have gotten worse after. SONO nails has gone above and beyond with precautions to accommodate for COVID and social distancing, including a temp check and sanitizer as soon as you walk through the door, shower curtains to separate pedicure chairs and plexiglass to separate manicure stations. They are super clean and cautious and I feel very safe and comfortable. Not to mention I always get a perfect mani/pedi from Maria. So thankful for this hidden gem! read more

I had a great experience going to this nail salon. Got a little lost on the way there because of apple maps but I found it. This business is located in the huge parking lot behind the South Norwalk movie theater, a few doors down from the C Town grocery store. I got a tip set ($35) done by Stephanie and she did a great job. I showed her a picture of the nail shape I wanted and double checked with me after every step the shape was still as I requested. I really appreciate her doing that since when I've gotten my nails done at other salons and paid nearly double, they didn't even ask what I wanted. In total it took a little over an hour and half from when I got out of my car to when I was leaving the salon. I went during a Monday afternoon so the place was empty and I was able to get seated. There were two women working and while Stephanie started on my nails, the other woman gave me a massage. They have plenty of massage, mani/pedi, and waxing options. They even have some spa options. DO NOT GO HERE! They only have a handful of powder colors, so I had to do gel. All of my nails were different lengths and shapes as the filing was done incorrectly. It took over an hour and a half for them to take off the previous powder manicure color I had on. When I told the woman at the front desk that I was unhappy she ignored me and told me I owed $50. I was appalled! I showed her how horrible my nails looked. She took my card and charged it and when I looked at the reciept it said $58! When I confronted the woman she insisted that it was $58! Oh boy. WHERE do I even start? I don't know what my luck is with awful nail salons. But this one has to be one of the worst. So I come in on a Wednesday, the place is completely dead. Not a soul in there. I scheduled the appointment for an acrylic set. $35 in Fairfield county, you can't beat that. So I show the gentleman the coffin nails I wanted. See first photo. The man did NOT know how to do them. He kept rounding them off and clipped them short when I wanted them long. I then tried to respectfully direct him on straightening them out and he literally sighed and threw his hands up in the air and had a straight up TEMPER TANTRUM. A GROWN man. I said, these are way shorter than I asked, I'm paying for these, the least you can do is do the shape I wanted. He continued to get upset saying "well these cost extra, very hard and time consuming!" and clearly (see second photo) had NO idea. That's fine, then get me someone else, no problem. He just didn't listen and kept being disrespectful making it the single most awkward experience I've had all year. Congratulations for making me feel humiliated and also giving me something I never asked for. He was incredibly rude and this man's customer service skills are as good as his nails skills. I even said before this started that I was a new customer. Great job at losing one before they even walk out of the door. This place also doesn't have nail sander machines. How can you do a full set without them? Oh I know, with my cuticles uncut and growing in and breaking within 3 days. Not only that, but he didn't use a brush to put the acrylic on. Dude straight up dunked each finger in the powder. My skin is still burning. Not just that but you'd think in a completely dead shop, you wouldn't rush the crap out of your only customer. Rushed and complained legitimately the entire time. If you like tips, never come here. If you like to be treated like a human being, never come here. If you like paying for what you actually asked for, never come here. Oh lastly, he had the NERVE to try to give me a chair massage after he saw my cash. Don't touch me??? I still paid the whole amount for garbage nails I didn't ask for and tipped him. Why? I don't know. I guess I felt bad for him. I visited Sono Nails & Spa for the first time for a manicure/pedicure & 10 minute chair massage. I had to make an appointment over the phone prior to my appointment which was super easy and convenient. A member of the staff was prepared for my appointment and greeted me by taking my temp and offering me hand sanitizer. The services were great I thoroughly enjoyed my 10 chair massage and my nails look great. I give 5-Stars to the friendly & professional staff who made my visit safe & enjoyable. Minus one star because the facility itself needs a little love and care, by no means is the business unsanitary (its spotless) but their landlord could definitely put some money into making the place nicer for their lovely tenants. read more

I can't believe I am the first to review this place! Top notch experience for a ridiculously low price. I had a manicure & pedicure done for $25 which included hot stone massaging & DIVINE neck & shoulder massaging! James did a fantastic job on my nails perfect shape & flawless polish job. The staff were all very friendly - they offered me beverages numerous times. They also have a "frequent flyer" type program where you get rewarded on your 10th visit. Next time I go back, which will be SOON, I am going to splurge on a longer chair massage. Can't say enough positive things! read more

Its kinda hard to see if you're driving by its Literally next to the new CTown. They use the same parking lot. Very clean. Very spacious and the staff is friendly. Don't come for the ambiance. But stay for the service and the MASSAGES. I came in for a gel manicure and a pedicure, which both came out to $45, which I thought was very reasonable (considering the gel manicure was involved, which usually bumps the price up). Despite the gel manicure portion being a touch slower than I had hoped (my gal messed up a few nails, but went back to fix and perfect them, which certainly isn't a bad thing), I really enjoyed my experience, and received no less than 4 massages during the process: a HOT STONE foot & leg massage during the pedicure, a fantastic quick shoulder massage by another employee while I was waiting between the pedi and the mani, ANOTHER shoulder massage while I was waiting for my nails to dry, and a final hand massage to complete the process. I'm still relaxed. As I said, don't go looking for glamour & frills: on the outside (and inside) the place looks serviceable at best, but it was friendly, affordable, massage-filled, and they did a great job. Friend recommended this spot. I would not return. The experience starts with having to pay for parking- I went in for a pedi & lip wax. I appreciate the attempt to give a leg massage- but there was no pressure and it was not effective or relaxing. They did the waxing second- and used an ointment on the skin instead of cream on a sunny 80plus afternoon. Icing on the cake was when I sat the dry my pedi- she again attempted a neck & shoulder massage- this was weaker than the first. This was not worth the money and was not a relaxing treat. I don't know who this wizard in waxing other reviewers keep mentioning is, but she most definitely was not the woman who did my wax. I went to this place on a co-worker's recommendation, since my usual lady moved 45 min away and I wasn't going to be able to make it there before my vacation, and it was the worst waxing experience of my 25+ years of getting waxed. Yes, waxing hurts, but there are things they can do to make you feel comfortable and minimize the pain. Being pleasant would be a good start. This woman was rude and manhandled me from the moment she walked through the door. No greeting, no asking what kind of wax you're getting, nothing. She does what she wants, pushes you or pulls you any way she wants, and waxes what she wants any way she wants with no consideration for the client's wishes or comfort. I was in a half sitting positing when she came into the room so I could talk to her and explain how I wanted my Brazilian wax, she pushed me down on the table and said "just lay down. yeah, yeah, I know, just follow the line, just follow the line." I sat up again, pointed to my crotch area and started explaining again, and she pushed me down again telling to just lay down. She doesn't prep the skin or clean the area, nothing. Just slaps the wax any which way, getting wax all over my belly, arm, and almost on my face and hair! No apology, nothing. Just throws a piece of paper towel at me and keeps going. She just does a regular bikini wax and proceeds to start on my leg, so I asked her what about the rest of the hair because I want a Brazilian wax. She cluelessly looks at me and horrified asks what hair. I point and explain, AGAIN, that Brazilian waxes remove all the hair. She goes on to do a very painfull half assed job (A LOT OF HAIR LEFT BEHIND!). She doesn't stretch the skin so, of course, she literally rips half my ladies bits along with the hair. Three days later, the area was still irritated and peeling off. Same thing with my legs. She pulls the strip in the wrong direction and have to keep doing the same area 4-5 times until I'm left with hematomas and bruises all over my legs (see pictures). Not to mention that 20% of the hair was left behind all over my legs too (I had to shave the next day because there was so much hair left). With that part of the assault done, she dumps what feels like a whole pound of talc on me, takes a "DRY" paper towel and vigorously rubs my legs. Are you freaking kidding me??? You just ripped hair and skin and you're using a dry paper towel like a sand paper??? Not wet towel to remove leftover wax, not soothing pos-wax lotion, nothing! And there was so much wax left behind (see pictures) it ruined my clothes. Thank god for coconut oil. After I got home, I spent half an hour gently massaging coconut oil all over myself and trying to remove all the wax. Even more disgusting is that they double dip! They use the same stick to get the wax from the pot over and over, when they should throw it out after each application to your skin for hygiene and health safety reasons. By the time I saw that, she had already done the Brazilian, which scared the hell out of me because someone I know got a skin infection on her crotch from a similar experience. So yeah, if you like being manhandled and getting a half assed wax that leaves a lot of hair behind, go ahead. I will be driving the 45 min to get to my usual lady. She's not only the nicest person who makes you feel comfortable (as comfortable as one can be naked spread eagle with someone's face right there), but a true professional who use appropriate products for pre and pos waxing, and uses a special wax that only attaches to the hair, which means it hurts a lot less and saves your skin. read more

She immediately took out cleaned nail supplies and took her time and did a quick hand massage with lotion. In the middle of my massage the owner asked me if i wanted any refreshments. This place is great! I've been trying to find a decent nail place in the 2 years since I've moved to norwalk. I decided to check out sono nails after reading other reviews on yelp. I agree that the place is just eh in terms of decor, not really fancy. But I sat with Susie and she was fantastic. Spa pedicure and manicure special $70. She really took her time with me and made sure everything was perfect. I got a massage as I was getting my nails done and when I was sitting at the drying station. Not only that, but they gave me a 10$ gift certificate when they found out it was my birthday. Stephanie also was so kind and sweet. I'm already looking forward to my next mani/pedi!!! read more

I went in a while ago to get my nails done with a friend and they were nice then, but I found the interior rather drab. Overall it wasn't really anything I felt the need to comment on, it was average. The next time I went was because I had a gift certificate for a free manicure and I got a pedicure too, which didn't end up being all that much cheaper ($4 less) than just doing the mani-pedi combo. What really bothered me was the level of professionalism the woman who was doing my nails had. Multiple times she loudly asked if I really wanted the polish color I picked out, a shade of magenta, and saying that it was not a pretty color. One comment I could understand, maybe I had picked up one I didn't want, but every time she asked I said I did want it. It really bothered me because everyone that was there looked to see what she was talking about and after I was done a couple of the women that were there came up and complimented me on it to which the woman who did my nails replied "some people have different tastes, I just don't like it". To top all of this off the polish started chipping a day or two after. I will be looking else where for a better experience. The massages were a bit on the rough side for me, but that is just personal preference. Well I haven't had my nails done n a while and I was in Norwalk and decided to go here. I requested a fullset and was convinced to get the Gel Nail polish because it lasted longer. Well let's just say by the third day it was coming off and two of my nails were lumpy. It didn't even last a week. I called spoke with Stephanie and came back in for correction. And that Only last two days This time my tips were chipped and one came completely off. This was the first time i've ever received a pedicure so i had no real expectations to compare this experience with. But, I have to say, everyone there was extremely friendly. Everyone in the salon greeted me and immediately after walking in I was whisked away to a chair that was immediately placed on massage mode. After sitting down the "nail professional" started going to town on my feet. She was extremely gentle and to be honest i had no idea that my nails or cuticles were even being cut. During the session she cleaned my legs and feet, thoroughly massaged them for about 5 mins each by hand and then again with a stone. Finally after the pedicure part was over she brought me over to a foot drying station/chair where she gave me a shoulder and back massage. All for about $20.
