After my failed attempt at Bureau de Poste, I decided to poke around Tiny Grocer as they essentially are one building. Tiny grocer is a great depiction because the grocer is extremely small with a deli right smack dab in it. Tiny grocer appears to have exotic or specialty goods, wines and gadgets. It is super pricey. Since I was there I decided to get a pastry, which are sourced from Sweetish Hill bakery. The muffin was almost $7 and was not very big. I opted out of that purchase. Also, they have some standard goods like Altoids, which I purchase fairly often for $2 and they were $3 at Tiny Grocer. I opted out that purchase also. I think their clientele must be fairly affluent folks from the Hyde Park neighborhood as Tiny Grocer was packed early in the morning. For the quintessential bargain shopper, this place was a little too rich for my blood. It was rather cool walking through the store. Another interesting restroom situation...this restaurant apparently is used by men, women and animals. I get the women and men using the restroom. How do animals use the restroom? I am not currently a pet owner, but grew up with a herd of dogs and cats. Never remember taking them to the restroom. They always went outside. Tiny Grocer...a very unique experience. I likely will explore a bit more Tiny Grocer when I dine at Bureau de Poste again.

Neat little store with items you wont commonly find unless you are in smaller stores like this. Some things are a bit over priced but they do have salty licorice, which is pretty hard to find in this city.

I decided to come here out of curiosity after reading through the almost 20 reviews. I decided not to eat at the deli because several yelpers complained of the food being not as fresh as it should be thus creating an inconsistent experience. On my visit, I thought I would add more photos and plug in some additional information. When you arrive, parking can be an issue since there's only two dozen spots out front and this place is popular. The good news is that there is another parking lot directly across the street with much more parking or park next to the bookshop (there's a bus stop here too). Inside the store, you'll find many upscale offerings in the form of wine, chocolates, olive oil's, sauces, drinks, cheeses and frozen items to name a few. Others had mentioned that the prices here are kind of high, but they are not outrageously so. They're pretty much in line with what you would pay at Central Market just down the street. They do have some indoor seating, but most of it is semi covered outside, which consists of about two dozen tables. On my visit, I found everything to be very well merchandised with plenty of fresh items in the deli case. Having a very popular bookshop and pizza spot directly next-door certainly adds to the overall attraction. Definitely a great gathering spot for the local Hyde Park residents. Informative photos and videos to round this out.

Beautiful grocery. A lot of items not found in a typical grocery. A good of ice cream, chips, wine, cheese, chocolates and more.

This was the local post office for a lot of people in college so it's fun to see it recycled/converted to something new. They have tons of gifts, wines, and odd food items, including Iberian ham flavored potato chips and baby toys. The deli is counter service and there are about five tables inside and a rib outside in a covered area. The prices are big city prices, but I enjoyed my $6 spinach empanada and also the soup and salad combos. There is plenty of parking and a cute little bookstore next door. I took my friend here for her 94th birthday and we had a great time. Hyde Park spots don't seem to have a lot of turnover so it's nice to see something new. Tiny Grocer has two locations, and the Hyde Park location turns into a fine dining French restaurant at night. Think Moules and Steak Frites.

French Dip and Bean Salad, Completely underwhelming and inedible.

I've frequently stopped by Tiny Grocer to pick up specialty grocery items and have always appreciated the curated aisles--especially when I can't make it down to Central Market. Unfortunately, the deli counter should be avoided at all costs. I've tried sandwiches at both The South and Hyde Park locations, and they've been consistently disappointing and inedible . The baguette in the jamón and butter sandwich was stale, and the French dip was bland, greasy, and underseasoned. I also picked up a bean salad that when opened smelled rancid and tasted off--definitely not something I'd expect from a place with premium pricing. I'd only recommend visiting if you're looking for a gift and already happen to be in the area. Skip the deli.

Cute little grocer with deli and cafe inside. Seating for cafe available inside and outside. Coffee is great, service was fast without a long line

They have deli counter service during the weekday lunch. The French dip with au jus was yummy with a very deep and rich dipping sauce. It's counter service so you will have to pick up your dish to the side of the counter. Drinks have to be ordered separately at the cafe bar. Get their frozen rose if it's a nice day. As always I like the selection of curated items in the grocery section. Point off because the point of sale system has gratuity on by default ... I can understand this for the deli and the cafe but not the grocery store. It is just annoying that they ask for tip for groceries especially since it's an upmarket place. It is configurable so I'm up in arms why most stores don't configure the gratuity option out or set them to reasonable amounts like 5% or less for minimal services.

I used to live in North Campus and this would be a go-to study spot for me!!! Unfortunately, my matcha was really not great this time around - tasted watered down and there were clumps of matcha powder. But really love the vibe here so I'm at a crossroads. Maybe just shouldn't order the matcha again

Abby's cappuccino's are absolutely the best in Austin! She serves with grace, kindness, and is a pleasure to chat with at the coffee bar while I'm working on my business, crafts, and waiting to meet a friend for breakfast or lunch. Her presence at the Tiny Grocer along with the older gentleman (forgive me, I forgot his name, I believe he is the manager), create a welcoming neighborhood vibe that is quintessential to Hyde Park. As a resident of Hyde Park for over 6 years, I can truly say that Tiny Grocer and its service staff is a beautiful addition to the neighborhood. Groceries are a bit pricey, but if you are in a rush and need bread, eggs, or feminine products in a pinch, its a delight that they are around the corner. Not enough has been said about the service in Austin Texas, specifically people in the service industry who help create the vibe at establishments throughout the city. Attentive, kind, and communicative staff is the bedrock of excellent service and guest returning to experience not just the food and atmosphere, but also the hardworking individuals that can make you smile.

Very cute place to work from home or study or grab lunch or brunch. The groceries themselves are a little pricey, but well curated so it's worth it. They have a wonderful selection of wine as well! Can't wait to live walking distance from her in a few weeks!! I'll for sure be a regular

$6 for a tiny empanada!?!? I guess that is why the name tiny grocer, but be sure to bring mucho dinero. I like what they did with the old post office, but this store is for the local Hyde park residents who have money to burn. Nice interior but their AC was on the fritz only a year after opening. I asked if they had half and half. They said yes, but when I checked they had every alternate dairy version but no real half and half. The empanadas were horrible. I've had better from a High School cafeteria. The beef did not taste like beef. Tasted funny. Was probably the vegan beef. If so, say that. Took two bites and tossed it to the dogs. They sniffed it and didn't want to have any part of it. There were so many vegan products in there it smelled like a beverly hills spa. No reason for me to go back here, considering all the alternatives in the area, that have equivalent or better products at much lower price.

Had an amazing sandwich (which was small) but will likely never go back because $18 for a pastrami sandwich with no sides is just wrong.

There is 2 hour validated parking under the building so you can shop without worry. I consistently come here for the TJ brand of Greek yogurt with fat and honey flavor, and for their canned sparkling wines which I just personally find fun. The staff are always friendly, true to the TJ culture. And the little area around outside is cute and nice to get a snack or some dessert nearby.

Well, this is probably the best TJ's in the Austin area due its size and variety of healthy, eco-friendly products, so if you've not yet had the pleasure to visit, here's why you should: 1. Yes, it's in downtown at Seaholm but you get 1 hour of free, validated, protected garage parking right outside the basement doors. When you come in the garage, go forward and loop around to the left side to reach the marked TJ spaces. In 2025, you validate by entering your license plate number in the Metropolis kiosk - it's a breeze. 2. Bring an insulated bag for frozen items. TJ's has an impressive selection of high quality frozen seafood and prepared meals, appetizers, sides, and desserts that you won't find anywhere else at these prices. Lately my favorites are the assorted dumplings and other dim sum fare. Oh, and get ready for some fun on the freezer aisle, where you'll be tempted by all manner of sweet treats stored at eye level above the freezers. 3. Seasonal, limited edition items. Early summer was lemon season with lemon pasta, lemon pesto, lemon body care, lemon candles, and so on. My most recent visit, it was strawberry everything: tiny pies, mochi, dry cereal, etc. At Christmas time, my friends go wild for the kringle pastry selection. There's always something that will only be around for a few days, so you feel like you've struck gold when you get there before it's all gone. 4. Seasonings and sauces. TJ's has some of the best spice blends and prepared sauces that will punch up your home cooked meals. I am obsessed with the crunchy chili onion oil and dry crunchy chili onion sprinkle shaker, living in anxiety that they will be retired. 5. The nicest people! Everyone working seems to have a PhD in customer service. I always leave with a smile on my face after dealing with the friendly checkout counter staff person. There's even more to love - fresh flowers! awesome skincare dupes! great produce & cheese! excellent low cost wines! - but you'll need to come in & experience it for yourself. Bring your reusable bags!
